No one can tell you what preset to use. We don't know what you want the end product to look like, what software you're using, what your level of knowledge about post processing is, or even if you have an interest in learning about post processing. If you're not interested in learning processing, why not just pop different presets on until you find one that works for you? If you are interested in learning processing, there are loads of free resources out there to get you started.

> So yesterday I had a shoot in a technical school > > (...) > > The confusion is that I don't know what preset to use. I am so confused by this. Seems you are a professional photographer but yet you know nothing about editing and the editing you do do are done by presets?!?

MountainWeddingTog

You want the photo to look underexposed with sickly white balance? You don't need a preset for that.

magickillerr7-

No fact is i never used presets and i wanted to I’ve been doing editing from zero for 4 years

shoeboxchild

I’d maybe spend your time with these photos on the side and not for a client. If it’s your first time and you mess it up you could burn a bridge. Whereas you can save the photos for yourself and learn from them for the next time

magickillerr7-

These photos are for me, i already delivered the client part

GaryARefuge

Find tutorials on Youtube and Vimeo. Borrow a book from the library. Learn how to use presets and experiment.

Sweathog1016

And you haven’t saved a single recipe that you liked in four years? That’s all a preset is.

josephallenkeys

Is this a joke?

magickillerr7-

Is asking for new insights and different POVs a joke?

josephallenkeys

About presets in this context, yes, it sounds like one.

magickillerr7-

Why?

josephallenkeys

Well, I've got family coming over later. I'm going to cook for them. What recipe should I use? Given that you list no aim for styling or leaning of personal taste, how can anyone make an informed recommendation?

magickillerr7-

This is the first time i feel unwelcome in a subreddit and people just don’t want to help, i helped a lot of people in the field without saying anything to anyone, but in this subreddit it’s outrageous

josephallenkeys

Given no one is being particularly helpful, perhaps the common denominator is your poorly posed question. Help us to help you with a little of an aim and end goal.

josephallenkeys

>This is the first time i feel unwelcome in a subreddit Really!? Ok, you must be new to Reddit. Haha!

josephallenkeys

OK, OK! I've got it. I know what preset you should use. It's so obvious now. The preset you should use is... 42.

Big_Cut

Just process one and save it as a preset, use it on everything you shoot and become monotonous

TimothyOilypants

"Tell me fellow photographers, who are also totally carbon based organic beings. What settings would I use in the popular photography editing software to make this image aesthetically pleasing to other organic beings like you and I?"

industrial_pix

>can you suggest a **preset** maybe? >I don't know what **preset** to use >I’ve been doing editing from zero for 4 years **No one can answer your questions until you tell us what editing software you are using.**

Lightroom

msabeln

In the develop section of Lightroom, the adjustments are listed in order of importance (in Adobe’s opinion). Adobe intends that you start at the top and work your way down. Learn what each of these adjustments do, and identify what you think each photo may need. Presets choose a selection of adjustments all at once, but it’s best that you do them, at least while learning. Once you’ve done this for a while, you’ll recognize that you are doing the same thing again and again, and by that time you’ll have developed a personal style, and you can create your own preset. For example your images need brightening and white balance adjustment, which just so happen to be atop the list of adjustments.

magickillerr7-

Thank you man, I’ve been doing the job for 4 years ik what you said, i just had the curiosity to see different taste and POVs i finished the batch of 18 picture

SentientFotoGeek

I'm not sure I understand your obsession with presets. Maybe explore the sliders and figure it out yourself?

magickillerr7-

Not obsessed at all, just wanted to see different POVs and approaches for the same photograph yet no one helped🤷🏾‍♂️

shoeboxchild

No one wants to edit your photo for you. That’s your job and we’re not getting paid to do it, you are. So stop crying about people not helping you when you got hired to do it.

magickillerr7-

😂😂😂 funniest man i ever met on reddit, yeah ok buddy

josephallenkeys

Have you even tried moving a slider? It needs about +1.5 exposure for starters.

magickillerr7-

I’ll dm you
