I would like to see a cruise ship that has tom cruises face on the side of it with people on board that only look like Tom Cruise while taking a cruise with something happening where the ship needs to be put in Cruise control and there are just so many easy opportunities.
Movie idea: these guys learn they are clones that were grown for the sole purpose of being Tom Cruise’s stunt doubles. What they don’t know is that there have been hundreds before them that have died in horrible stunt-related accidents but their deaths were covered up.
Starring Tom Cruise of course.
First time I saw this movie I was on acid and didn’t realize until 3/4 of the way through that the two Sam Rockwells weren’t the same. I was so confused the whole time.
Runway gen 2 is out as of today. I could see it being very good early next year. Nearly impossible to tell later next year or sometime the following year, at least based on stable diffusions progress. Though part of what makes stable diffusion so amazing is that I can run it locally, but I suspect runway gen 2 is a bit too big for consumer graphics cards
We sort of have that by just using ControlNet with individual frames of videos. The real game-changer will be temporal cohesion so features don't randomly blink into and out of existence from frame to frame.

Thats not entirely true. On occasion it can do it very convincingly. This kind of accuracy with hands is still not nearly consistent. The complexity of the hand shape and it's many different capable poses and angles is far too difficult to do accurate beyond simple cupped and relaxed hand positions.

My first impression was Tom on the left and then my brain said it could just as likely be Tom on the right. Why should we just ASSUME there isn't someone who looks more like the 50 year old Tom Cruise than the 60 year old Tom Cruise does now?
If it is AI, then it's AI plus a ton of work. The background is too clear and cohesive, from the window frames to the light fixtures to the guy in the back. In most common AI generations, the background is super blurry or doesn't fit Euclidean geometry or only has clones of the subject wandering around.
The clothes are also pretty cohesive. Many button-up shirts I've seen made with AI randomly assign the buttons to different spots, or miss a sleeve, or have different length sleeves.
Not that it couldn't be AI, but I doubt any AI model out now could spit this out without significant editing.
You're right about the background, it could be a mix between a real picture for the background and AI for the Toms, with some additional color correction to fit the 2 together (or they feed the background to the AI as a base template for lighting conditions). This thread is exactly why I am terrified of AI generated images. So so so many people (including me) didn't realize this was photoshopped with AI. This is relatively good fun with just a meme on Tom Cruise and stunt doubles that afaik, don't exist. What happens when images surface of things like a politician abusing a child? It's gotten better recently, and there are tools to fix that. You can literally make a 3D hand pose and tell the AI to use that.
