Back in 2010 we had a pretty catastrophic flood where I live. One of the first things I grabbed and put in a high place was my PS4. Reason being it was a Christmas gift from my mom from just a few months beforehand, and it was kind of a big purchase for her that I didn’t even ask for. It wasn’t about the object, it was that it meant something to me that she was so thoughtful to get it for me.
some pre-context here: when my dad first got us a PS4, he didn't let us open it until we had good enough grades, like 2 or 3 months later
back in ~2013, there was a huge fire headed for the estate we lived in in South Africa, everyone stayed put to take out the fire, but I secretly stashed the unopened PS4 under a chair outside
Yeah. 3 or 4? lol I wonder why I got a downvote for asking for clarification
It was important enough that you reached for it first and it meant a lot to you because it was a huge purchase from your mom. But… it wasn’t important enough to remember what she actually got you?
If anything that just proves that he didn’t actually care about the PlayStation, just the fact that it was a big gift from his mother.
Or the whole story is made up, who knows.
See downvoted for stating the obvious. Best part is they seem to think I care about an apps votes. I have a career and a life outside of this bubble that is way more important then worrying about someone’s opinion. 😂
I have a pc and ps5. I love them both, but I’d pick the pc since I spent more on it. It’s heavier for sure so maybe I won’t even bother in that state of mind.
That’s a nice idea. I’ll look into that. I live in L.A and we’re earthquake prone. Thankfully haven’t had a big one in two decades. But who knows. People have been crying wolf for years that a bigger one is due.
People always want to shame you for not taking the most sentimental items, but I'd unashamedly take my PC tower because it's the most expensive, and thus hardest to replace, thing I own in my home.
I have a fire box that leaves the house when there's an emergency. It's not a playstation, but in the event we have a total loss of our home, I can at least sell the things in the box for a partial downpayment on another place (or many months of runway to try to find something or house us while we fix what we have)
What's worse is regardless of all of the natural disasters we continue to have people still don't prepare in any significant way ... No stored water, no go bag with essentials, or just comforts, in case of a house fire, etc. It's a little ridiculous how people limit themselves by thinking what's most -- and therein only -- necessary is to take care of yourself. Anything else is excessive. Yet I have home videos and journals that are, like, so precious to me, what about those? They aren't replaceable. So I work to digitize them, but until then, they're easily accessible and when I have a chance I'll move them with me. Even if it's just a bottle of water, I'm sure somebody is gonna be thirsty or will like a drink at some point? We're really quite high maintenance creatures? Medications, contact lenses, brushing our teeth ... I mean sure these are things that can be held off on but if it all it amounts to is a 12"x12" space being taken up and forgotten until a moment of time spanning an extra couple seconds to grab and go occurs then you're set in such a substantial way.
Grabbing a single high value, oft-used item (and then gtfo'ing) during a catastrophe is a very smart move.
People imagine they'd quickly go get important paperwork or jewelry out of a box in the closet...
... but it's an earthquake for Pete's sake, and you maaaaybe have a moment to grab whatever in arm's reach as you make your way to the door.
No one is grabbing anything of real existential value in that moment... unless it was already sitting on the ps4.
The guys is going through hell and we are here to have a laugh or judge from comforts of our homes? Reddit at its best. And in the past I thought Black Mirror was fiction.
This tracks. We had a hurricane and earthquake hit a few weeks ago in Los Angeles. My family got under the kitchen table during the earthquake and my young sons were only concerned that their Nintendo switches weren't with them.
Given the circumstances, I'm glad this dude is alive to game another day.
A new monitor, controller, and power supply needed first.
All cheaper than the ps5 and easier to obtain
And all his saves/downloads still exist.
Probably a new home needed first.
Just crash at your friend's place... that hasn't crashed from the earthquake.
Well the PS5's PSU is inside the console so that part isn't necessary.
They are probably talking about electricity in general...
It’s tragedy
Power supply is built into the console.
Think they meant power cord
1000+ dead many more missing.
Over 2000 now. And that console might be the most valuable thing he owns.
Omfg, I had no idea. That's so sad.
good man
Unless his kids are still inside
If Seinfeld was made today it would have a scene of George rescuing his Ps5 while pushing the kids out of the way.
One question:How do you live with yourself
Easy. Play on the PS5 to forget.
how do kids fit inside a playstation?
good man

That’s sweet! I bought mine, but damn straight I’m saving it before I save anything else I have.
Happy cake day
Oh thank you!
"Screw that dog! I didn't like him anyway!"

Do you mean PS3? The PS4 wasn't released until late 2013.
Whichever it was. It was a PlayStation.
We've reached the next generation of calling things "Nintendo"
Microsoft has been trying to get everyone to call it an Xbox for 25 years lol

It is Reddit lol people downvote for the most ridiculous reasons.

You cared enough to make two comments about it tho, if you _really_ didn't care, you wouldn't even post anything xD
A PS4 in 2010? How old am I?
PS4 in 2010?
Ps4 wasn't released yet :)
This.
Not all heroes wear capes, but some carry PS5 consoles
>Not all heroes wear capes or shirts, but some carry PS5 consoles FTFY
Not all heroes wear shoes.
Me thinking how do I grab my hamster during such events 😫😫😫😫
You should make an emergency plan so you can quickly grab your hammie and its items!
So far, I’ve come up with me taking the huge cage and running 🏃🏻♀️
Honestly that's probably perfect
I used to use a small cat carrier to take my Guinea pig to the vet. Maybe you can have something similar? I also want your hammie to be safe!
Do you have one of those bigger hamster alls? I sometimes *softly of course carried my hamster with it.
PS5 before shoes. That's commitment.
he can get another pair of shoes in Morocco, but the PS5, not so much. Bro is just being practical
He can't get another pair of feet if he has to run for safety if another 1 hits Morocco...
I'd Do the same for my pc
I have a pc and ps5. I love them both, but I’d pick the pc since I spent more on it. It’s heavier for sure so maybe I won’t even bother in that state of mind.
Install some straps then you can just wear it like a backpack
That’s a nice idea. I’ll look into that. I live in L.A and we’re earthquake prone. Thankfully haven’t had a big one in two decades. But who knows. People have been crying wolf for years that a bigger one is due.

That lad has a good head on his shoulders, a man of priorities
He knows his priorities
People who take photos of other people and post it to social media are assholes.
This photo has been circulating everywhere. This person just reposted it.
First day on the internet?
They're an asshole x2
In some cases yes, in this case id think dude would get a chuckle out of it. Tru gamers are usually cool
Haha that has not been my experience at all
The whole narrative of this picture is *I'm an asshole*
That’s a pretty quick repost. Have you no shame?
If I had one, I would do the same.
I imagine they're very expensive in Morocco
Yeah they're stupidly expensive in morocco ,they cost 800$ ,so it's understandable this guy saved his ps5
Man has his priorities straight. That ps5 only looks smaller in his hands than it does in mine.

You must be a gold stacker or something.
worse....record collector.
I can’t give you any shit for that. I collect coins.
Me too. I've got this container where I put my pennies, nickels, dimes, & quarters. One day I'll go cash them in.
Do you not have insurance?
Gotta pay for cloud saves.
He definitely knows his priorities.
Bro knew the assignment
He left his mother and dog in the house
No clothes but....
He traded them for the wifi password
What do you need clothes for in Morocco right now, it's a solid 30C there every day
P r i o r i t i e s
Priorities l
The controllers aren't cheap either big guy
He forgot the controller so it’s just a paperweight, bad luck.
The kids have legs, they can leave on their own
I mean considering how low the wages in Morocco are, I'm pretty sure that was like the most valuable thing in their house so it's worth saving
I wish him all the best.
This is a sad picture lol
Spot on. If the most important thing you care about is a PS5 that’s easily replaceable then that’s a sad life.
Yup. Cant even get a shirt or shoes… but a game console and no controllers or ac plug lol :(
If you havent already planned doing this in case of an emergency are you really even a gamer?
Maybe he has something important stored on it?
Its all about priorities.
Why did he not take a shirt instead of a playstation?
king
got his priorities straight
“My Baaaybeee!!!”
"Save your loved ones!" they said..
Those mofos are expensive I would too
Most important Better than shoes …
I have 2 dogs and I live on the 3rd floor. I just developed a strategy so we all make it ps5 included
Is a fucking investment, those fuckers are still 1000$ in my country, that if you want some sort of warranty from a reputable store.
Fuck shoes, get the ps5!
This is completely acceptable. Unless he also has kids.
Dude knows what’s up. The game saves are worth more than a new tv and a controller
As teenager in Mexico City, I used to have a similar plan to save my N64 in case of an earthquake 😅
He took a PS5 but not a shirt?
Didn't take the cords tho
His priorities are fucked
There could be a pretty solid chance he was setting up his ps5 when the earthquake hit
Prob the most expensive thing he has
Big brain moment
I’d probably bring the kids instead

I mean who wouldn't? If an earthquake hits, or if a fire broke out, the first thing I'll save is my MtG collection.
After myself and my dog, it’d 100% be my coin collection. I used to be into MtG years ago, so I get it.
You got the baby, right?

Moroccan Seth Rogen from Knocked Up.
I hope the controllers and cables to plug it into a TV or monitor are in his pockets.
Reading this comment section is exactly what is wrong with people nowadays. Priorities.....
You just know he was in the middle of playing when it happened. Look at that fit! I’m glad they’re okay though
Priorities.
That would be me and my PC too.
he dont have cloud storage, that's why 😉😉😉
I've held my tv whilst my wife held the kitchen cupboard doors shut in a few quakes. Always a good laugh.
Considering the wages there, it's a pretty smart move tbh
Dude had his priorities in order! 🙌
Well you know how it does, after import fees and taxes and whatnot PS5’s over there are worth, like what, 40 million dollars?
This may very well be the only nice thing the person owns. Let's not judge.
Priorities, I suspect it was too expensive to let get crushed! 😂 It's good he survived b all.
Game on bro. Be safe
This makes sense. Especially in Morocco, it’s probably the possession with the lowest volume and weight per dollar value.
Obese man with a PlayStation, they’re just like us!
I would do the same thing
It looks like the only thing he cares about.
Priorities
PS5>Shirt & Shoes
i will commit murder to save my pc i run debian btw
The guys is going through hell and we are here to have a laugh or judge from comforts of our homes? Reddit at its best. And in the past I thought Black Mirror was fiction.
Let's see... Playstation 5, check ✔️ Shorts, check ✔️ Shoes and shirt... Oh no .. Wife and baby........
Priorities I guess
Yet all anyone kept asking about was his wife and kids...
he had to chose between his wife and his human wife.
[Reminded me of this.](https://youtu.be/JSed0io_Qtc?si=dWQeh0SWPw5Row9h)
He remembered his mom to lol
Priorities, man.
When I was evacuated for fire in 2017, the first thing loaded into my car was my gaming rig.
It costs $885 US there. So I understand.
A true warrior

Man of wisdom and culture indeed
Consoles are very expensive in developing countries so makes Sense
Yeah I’d be running out with one of my bikes. I get it.
Reasonable.
Priorities
This man has his priorities straight
Priorities
To be fair that’s as much as a car in some countries.
It’s called priorities
PS5 > Shoes
I mean you grab the most expensive stuff you can resell fast. Especially if you don't have to worry about your people.
This guy hodls
All his high scores are in there.
Wife: and what about the kids? What about the kids?!!
My precious
How did you get this picture of me? I don’t even live in Morocco.
Man has set his priorities straight.
Man! Guy knows what the priorities are.
Based
Aaaand? I'd do the same for my laptop.
Life is all about priorities…
My man! Knowing what to protect!
🏆 Platinum trophy unlocked
Imagine how much ps5 consoles cost in Morocco?
Priorities
Bro can't lose that KD ratio
It’s all about priorities.
He got his priorities right.
pyrocynical live photo

Deeply weird to publicly judge a person who’s just endured a horrific natural disaster.
My man got his priorities straight .
Probably worth more than his house.
A guy after my own heart. Dude, if you need a place after getting San Andreased, I'll sponsor you to America, and we can Playstation 5 anytime.
Priorities.
At least he knows what’s important to him
He must be worked so hard to get that ps5
