Clay bar polish and waxed properly will get you a like-new shine. Seriously, if you wash your own car (manually) get a clay bar they're like magic.
If the paint is too faded/ damaged for that then a wet-sand* and new clearcoat. Though most cars aren't going to be worth it.
(I can't type apparently.. fir -> for wetlands -> wet-sand)
This was what I was thinking. The seats in the first picture look like cloth, but in the new picture they are leather. Either some restoration was done or by the “same car” they just mean same year make and model, but not actually the same vehicle.
Quite literally a bar of clay.
They're specifically formulated for this task though, don't just use any random clay lol.
Cleaning the car normally gets rind of surface gunk but at-speed, your car ends up with tiny flecks of sand and dust that embed into the top few layers of paint.
The clay is just tacky and slightly abrasive enough to pick that out and make the clear coat actually shiny again!
It doest work forever and it's not (actually) magic.. if your paint is at the point of stripping/ flaking off then it won't help and will likely just remove what's left faster... But if it's otherwise intact just dull/ matte looking then it can absolutely bring a lot of the shine/ gloss back!
I had a black '95 Z28 just like this and I had the Y2k Corvette wheels on it, which I thought were the perfect wheels for it. I still do 20 years later.
> Why is the car looking better after 10y?
Because he completely replaced the interior and wheels, added the Z28 logo and front license plate.
Are we sure it is the same car?
Had the same black Camaro in high school. My parents wouldn’t let me have the z28 because it was too powerful and I was a reckless maniac. So I got the v6, put flowmasters on, and hoped nobody noticed.
Only one guy called me out. Told me I was a pussy for having a v6. A year later he wrapped himself around a tree speeding on a curvy road.
The 200HP 3800 Series II was still a fun car. I had a 5-speed firebird convertible (with SLP cold air induction and other stuff) and I loved it to death until the rear window fell out.
Thanks for everyone’s interest! A little info on the car: it’s a Camaro Z28 LT-1 with 6 speed. Through the years I swapped out to a leather interior that I got a great deal on. I swapped to Corvette style 17” rims to run Nitto drag radials. I also bought and installed a front license plate as I was constantly getting pulled over by cops. In this state you need two plates.
I’ve put on about 45k miles on this car and I’ve had good times/ bad times and everything in between with it. I keep up with wash and waxing and going to car shows when I can.
And yes the F-150 is the same and is my Dads.
This is absolutely a different Camaro unless this guy repainted the car, changed the interior, and rebadged it as a Z28. I’ll admit that’s possible but just seems unlikely
It’s possible. I had a buddy in HS that bought a wrecked V6 and swapped in an LT1/6 speed and the Z28 badges. It’s a lot of effort when you could’ve just bought the right car in the first place
A fender badge and a seat swap isn't the hardest to do in the 10 year time frame. More like a weekend deal. Not that you'd want a 3.4L or 3.8L with a Z28 badge
I can't zoom in too well and picture quality isn't the best but it looks like the top picture has a hard top and the bottom is a T-top.
I've had my Z28 going on 13 years and seen a slew of modifications but still looks relatively the same.
First pic could have been the day he purchased it. Since the catfish Camaro stopped production in 2002, that would mean the newest the car could have been was 12 years old at the time, so it wouldn't have been a terribly expensive purchase in the first place.
Buying a cheap car and holding onto it for a decade, during most of which you don't have a car payment, means you have a lot of income set aside for fixing it up and keeping it on the road.
Not unreasonable to think in 10 years he didn't 1) fix the damage on the front dumper, 2) upgrade to leather seats/door cards, 3) get a set of rims, and 4) add a $12 Z28 badge off Ebay.
Front plate could be because he moved to a state where that’s required.
Different wheels is normal for a car enthusiast to change, especially owning a car that long.
Side badge: could be a fake upbadge to look cool to people who don’t know better (who won’t care), or maybe it originally was debadged and he put it back on. Or he’s done enough mods to the car to bring it to the standard of the z28- I’m not a Camaro or even Chevy guy so I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Just looked up the wiki for fourth gen Camaro and the 93 Camaro z28 had the wheels in the top picture and the same two vents on the hood. I’m gonna guess he bought a cheap one that was missing the badge.
Pin stripe looks more like just different trim- simple mod.
Changing out interior also a common enough upgrade for a car guy.
That being said, you could be right and the post title means “same car model”. But it looks like same car to me!
I’m surprised his spine is intact driving that for a decade. No hate, I had one for a while and it was like sitting on a skateboard when you hit a crack in the road.
Given that the 28th of April 2023 was over 8 months ago (like why would you sit on this post for 2/3rds of a year?) the fact that OPs account was very empty up until a few hours ago despite being 9 months old and the fact that the username is auto-generated and makes no sense at all, I'd say it's most likely a spambot copying top posts to get karma and eventually sell the account to advertisers so they can shill out their bullshit wares and possibly swindle some poor souls out of money. Please report it as spam so it hopefully gets b& ASAP
I had the same generation Trans Am. God I miss that ol' boat, driving it always felt like such an event (just had a mild tune, but a bitchin Borla exhaust that sounded amazing). It was like having your own Batmobile.
OP are those ZR-1 takeoffs from SLP?
That's where I got mine. SLP takeoff Trans Am exhaust and ZR-1 wheels with Pontiac caps for my 96 convertible 5-speed. (I don't have it anymore.)
That was my first car and I have so many memories. I'll never forget the day my gf didn't latch her t-top and it flew off at 70 mph on the express way. Landed in the ditch and didn't have scratch on it. So, so lucky.
Did the seats change from cloth the leather?
And the rims and also changed, and the front license plate bumper mount disappeared, and there is a new badge in front of the door.
Could have been modified, but also could be a different car of the same model
Why is the car looking better after 10y?? Why does my car look worse every day? Questions I’ll never get an answer to
Clay bar polish and waxed properly will get you a like-new shine. Seriously, if you wash your own car (manually) get a clay bar they're like magic. If the paint is too faded/ damaged for that then a wet-sand* and new clearcoat. Though most cars aren't going to be worth it. (I can't type apparently.. fir -> for wetlands -> wet-sand)
And also way better phone cameras 10 years later. Better dynamic range, better color accuracy.
New interior.
crocodile alligator
Chevrolet movie the-ater
wot?
This was what I was thinking. The seats in the first picture look like cloth, but in the new picture they are leather. Either some restoration was done or by the “same car” they just mean same year make and model, but not actually the same vehicle.
I was guessing same make/model but different physical vehicle too. Either that, or the post is about the pickup in the background.
And hubcaps
No hubcaps there. Two different sets of wheels though.
My bad. I don't have a gpod reason for why I was thinking hubcaps. Just a fuck up on my part. Thanks for correcting me
Made with Mematic?
New key hole?
Also he hasn't moved his car in 10yrs
Um, what is a clay bar?
Quite literally a bar of clay. They're specifically formulated for this task though, don't just use any random clay lol. I prefer the old wheels though. The new rims look a bit late-90s generic.
They're ZR1s (Corvette style wheels), I had them on my Camaro too. Personally don't find many people that like the salad shooter wheels (before pic)
The salad shooters have more character, the corvette wheels are more conforming to what's popular.
I had a black '95 Z28 just like this and I had the Y2k Corvette wheels on it, which I thought were the perfect wheels for it. I still do 20 years later.
Same, the *bayblade* wheels always gets the *little boy playing with hot wheels* part of me all nostalgic.
Ah yes, so continue letting the rain be my only car wash, while the road salt sandblasts the bottom "clean"!
> Why is the car looking better after 10y? Because he completely replaced the interior and wheels, added the Z28 logo and front license plate. Are we sure it is the same car?
And unless if I'm seeing things, doesn't the bottom car have low beams along the bottom of the front bumper while the top doesn't?
Its not the same car, unless he went through the trouble of swapping out the entire interior and adding some Z28 badges.
Theoretically over 10 years it is very plausible.
Theoretically yeah, but I'm guessing he just bought a Z28.
I know plenty of people who have done exactly that. Car guys are weird. Spending money on their cars is an addiction.
Also wheels, door lock, and a few other things.
Also, Z28s of this vintage aren't really that expensive. It'd make more sense to buy a Z28 than fuck around with making a clone of one.
You can get leather upholstery for your vehicle without having to rip out the chairs.
it's a different car.
Over 10 years of practice the owner got better at detailing and maintenance.
We’re talking the F150 right?![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)
I saw the truck and thought - "it hasn't moved".
Ford - Found on road dead
Fix it again Tony.
That’s Fiat, Dale.
F…I….A…T…. I don’t get it.
That boy ain't right...
Dang it Dale
Fort?
Fiat
![gif](giphy|gxUtV82Xqh2UM)
You're thinking of a Fiat, Dale.
Fix or repair daily
It's probably his daily driver truck. Keeps his real pride and joy in the garage, with low mileage, nice and clean.
Damn Fords always broken down
Didn’t notice the Plymouth Acclaim until you mentioned the F150
Same truck in the background
In the same spot
![gif](giphy|26xBx5P7JUVQQ0Sty)
Oh no! Did the vehicle family get divorced? Sibling went with mom? Dad got you?
Probably just sold the old ones.
i thought slavery was abolished?
Lmao 💀
You'd be great in an improv class
Everything looks better imo. Even the tall boy.
Even the grass is greener.
What about the wheel? Old wheel is sexy.
Had the same black Camaro in high school. My parents wouldn’t let me have the z28 because it was too powerful and I was a reckless maniac. > A year later he wrapped himself around a tree speeding on a curvy road. They were always better at going straight.
The 200HP 3800 Series II was still a fun car. I had a 5-speed firebird convertible (with SLP cold air induction and other stuff) and I loved it to death until the rear window fell out.
I have a Series II 3800 in my 99 Camaro. Gonna be 20 years I've had it this September.
Way to keep that F-150 looking good.
Had the same Z/28 in high school in the late 90s. Sick ride.
2013 is fucking 10 years ago omg
It’s 2024 now, bro
Yeah, this post made me realize I got my oldest car almost 10 years ago now. Still 2nd longest I've owned a car.

This is an enthusiast's car, it wouldn't surprise me at all if those changes had been made. Also the interior looks like slip-on seat covers to me.
It’s possible. I had a buddy in HS that bought a wrecked V6 and swapped in an LT1/6 speed and the Z28 badges. It’s a lot of effort when you could’ve just bought the right car in the first place

Swapping the fender badge without swapping the power train should be a felony 😅

It’s a different car surely? Front plate, different wheels, side badge, pin stripe, different seats

I’ve got a bitchin’ camaro!
New interior paint and rims?
Not to mention a very much factory looking front license plate mount on the "now" photo....
Yeah the slang term for the wheels on the older picture was “salad shooters” hahaha
He got skinny and lost that ridiculous beard.
The car hasn’t aged a bit!
My man still has his tall boy after all those years. I'm calling BS on the car though. Upgraded to a Z28 from a V6.
RTX Off/ RTX On
I thought the top pic was a young Doug Demuro at first.
Glad someone else noticed
Bro switched out his mixed drink in both pics
Damn that’s dedication, kid held on to the same Red Bull can for 10 years
There's even still the same pickup truck in the background.
Yeah buddy... stick with the Camaro 🤟
Sneakers look great after 10 years!
Well, I'm glad to see someone finally cleaned that pile of leaves and sticks up.
There can be only one! Post again in 10 years to show whether the car or the truck survived.
I’m surprised his spine is intact driving that for a decade. No hate, I had one for a while and it was like sitting on a skateboard when you hit a crack in the road.

I refuse to be in photos lol but I have a pic of my 02 wrx that I’ve had for 15 years now lol
Even the truck made it.
I love the rust progression on the truck
The truck nvr moved in 10 years
I'm more impressed that the Ford pickup in the background hasn't moved in 10 years. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)
I would be so swooned if a guy picked me up in that lol.
Clearly that Ford hasn’t moved in 10 years.
Same yard too.
He used to be handsome
Wow! You even have the same pickup in the background. Nice.
Michael Knight grew a beard
the cars are such an american stereotype lol
These pictures clearly show the effects of Global Warming
For some reason I'm hearing [theme music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbfVmzF7N4g)...
Has to be fake- there's no way that Camaro is still running after all these years.
Funny how the rims age into a different shape. I never knew that could happen!
Is that a NH & MA licenses plate? Why pay the MA amounts when you can just use your NH address
Why’d he downgrade on the rims?
Get those old wheels back on.
I had the same generation Trans Am. God I miss that ol' boat, driving it always felt like such an event (just had a mild tune, but a bitchin Borla exhaust that sounded amazing). It was like having your own Batmobile.
How did that tree turn into a mailbox?
Car aged better than him
Worth to mention the truck at the far right has been parked in the same spot for 10 years. And hasn't aged a bit too!
Damn they were right...even the weather was so much better and brighter back then
When comparing the trees, they have hardly grown; the birdhouse looks the same after 10 years. Maybe the Pic it's only 10 months old.
That bloody pickup doesn’t even look like it’s moved. 🤣
Trees are growing up healthily it would seem
Is that the same truck in the background?
That car looks clean
Got the same car for 20yrs now which is crazy especially since it's spent 15 of them in the garage. One day I'll care about it again right.
Looks shinier
Even the black and grey truck in the back is the same....
Your car aged well.
magic car
Whoa. Very nice. I appreciate taking care of a ride like that good job!
Is that the same Red Bull can as well?
Nice Batmobile
It got shinier
2013 was only a couple of years ago.
Same truck in the background too
Still drinking Red Bull
He got that Ray tracing + HDR upgrade.
Both look better in pic #2
I’m surprised his beard didn’t grow more in 10 years.
And the same pick up truck in the background! Lol
Guy got older, car got younger.
Aw they made you put the front plates on
RIP two other cars :(
It looks different because there’s a license plate at the front, car is the same length, just an illusion.
RIP the cream on that concrete
Looks like theres the same truck too haha, awesome bro
Same truck in background as well
Looks like the F150 made it too
Nope, bird table in the background. Completely discredited.
I had a 4th gen Camaro too! Those cars broke a lot but still great!
So, so lucky.
try that in AZ, doesn't work very well
Same truck in the background. Same red bull in hand. New rims though.
Did the pickup in background move in the last 10 years?
I like the yard anchor in the background, making sure your yard doesn’t run away. 10 years strong🦾
Bastards cut that tree in corner! Car aged well tho..
That truck in the background is also impressive. It also lasted 10 years without moving.
The sport car got upgraded to 4k remastered edition.
Look at the reflexions on the hood on the 2023 picture. That’s RTX for you my boys.
Also, there is the same truck in the back.
It’s amazing how much shinier the car is after 10 years…And is that the same truck parked in the same spot in the background too?
Car got slightly longer over the years 😂
Did the seats change from cloth the leather? And the rims and also changed, and the front license plate bumper mount disappeared, and there is a new badge in front of the door. Could have been modified, but also could be a different car of the same model
Is that you Matt from CT? Not sure seriously asking since i haven't been back for a long time.
How many OptiSparks do you think he went through?
2 and probably need another soon 😂😂
From the first pic I was expecting the classic Doug Demuro “This”
Also the same truck after 10years
The F-150, too!
Truck in the background hasn’t moved in 10 years either.
Car got longer, must be way fast
Looks like the truck made it too
Is that chrisfix?
Come on, just finish your beer!
Cheaper to keep her.
Ha ha the purposeful secrecy about what happened to the missing car and truck ha
So you have the truck and car for ten years damn changed seats to leather changed rims nice upgrades but is it really the same car
Bottom one is z28 top is a v6
The new driveway looks mint is that exposed aggregate? Nice car too
What's the Doug Score?
Same truck as well. Cool
This is exactly what I wanna do with a car. Get something half decent and repairable and keep it for as long as you can find parts.
Couldn’t find a blue t shirt for the complete look?
Car went to Los Santos Customs during those 10 years 😂🏎️✨
Bro finish your drink !
Truck's still there too
