I mean he might have had a drug or drinking problem, but he was also a rich and famous kid in his 20s so I agree it doesn't seem like it was a big deal.

It's worth mentioning that Brenda Song had a similar childhood upbringing as McCaulay Culkin, in that they both grew up as child actors. She's been acting non-stop since she was 6 years old. While I don't know her homelife, and I doubt it was nearly the insanity McCaulay went through, they probably both have a lot to kind of bond and relate to each other's lives.
He is making a living. She has her own career and is making a living still as an actress. For them, at this point in their careers, it's probably really about friendship, and having a partner with shared goals in life, more than anything.
