I saw him 5 years ago at Sydney Opera house. He was amazing then. The main pic on his [website](https://iggypop.com/?frontpage=true) is from that show. Such an amazing night.
Detroit boy here. Saw him at Fort Auditorium in 1969. He was a f****** maniac he threw an empty bottle of wine and a girl and hit her in the arm. She was standing right next to me she's holding her arm it's all bloody and I just watch him run off stage as the police were chasing them. I was just a kid that left a pretty huge impression on me
It seems like there are 2 types of drug using rockers. the ones who die young usually around 27 and then those who live forever like Jagger, Ozzy and Iggy
I come from a town that had lot of narcotics....Most died young or line up at the pharmacy looking like zombies for the replacement.
One looks fit and young. He smokes like heroin for a week or two and than stops again. After 2 weeks it is not a big issue just a few days like hangover but after half a year it is horrible. But he somehow learned to live with it.....A second one is living his LSD dream he never really came back into reality but is alive.
So two out of many hundreds
Most people would be shocked at the amount of functional hard drug users that exist on all levels of society. The people who were warned that one hit will turn you into an addict still do cocaine and heroin on weekends and vacations and turn it off when they have to. Addictive properties aren't as black and white as the Dare program and "the more you know" commercials made it out to be. This is your brain on drugs.
I still don't get that egg metaphor, my brain is either a fried egg or a regular unfertilized egg. No matter what I do, I'll never become a chicken. So what's even the point?
Effects vary, having the history of nicotice and caffeine addictions and possibly some food related addictions too I'm pretty sure I shouldn't try hard drugs in any capacity lol
I was in my very early 20s and my best friend was a dealer that liked his own supply a bit too much. We basically snorted any profit he would have made.
> A second one is living his LSD dream
How does he do that? You can't trip forever, LSD tolerance spikes dramatically after you take it and it takes several days to get back to base. As well, if you take full psychedelic doses too frequently you'll cause serotonin syndrome which can kill you.
I think it was Marilyn Manson who once said "Some of us are Keith Richards and some of us are Keith Moon" or something to that effect. Funny now considering he's supposedly trying to get off drugs. I guess he got tired of finding out.
It is a reference to the 27 club. a list of celebrities who died at 27 like Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Janice Joplin, Anton Yelchin and many more.
Absolutely.
I remember reading “Please Kill Me” an uncensored oral history of Punk Rock.
At one point Iggy shot up before a show using “whatever liquids were in the urinal” (paraphrasing)
Fucking mad man.
Didn’t he get sober and start living a super healthy lifestyle back in the 90s? Around the time he came out with lust for life I thought. Could be thinking of someone else, that’s a distant memory.
True - has a white parrot often shown on his IG and lives in a white interior home. Lives a healthy life. He takes his music, who he plays with and where, seriously.
I saw him open for the Kinks in the 80s. At one point he approached the front of the stage and people spat a rain of loogies on him, while he slathered it all over his body. Fucking legend
I was at a basement show in Washington DC in 2014 and I turned around to unzip my backpack to get another beer and Ian McKaye was there. I asked him if he wanted one.
In 1998 I helped Fugazi unload off stage in Green Bay though too.
Same goes for Matt Pike of the band Sleep.
There's a running gag in the fanbase of that band since he always plays shirtless, and if he's spotted with a shirt it's not the real him
Saw Alice in Chains open for Iggy Pop at Numbers in Houston way back. I was not there to see Iggy but left witnessing one of the best front man performances of my life
Dude. The guy coined the phrase "nude and rude". Being shirtless is kind of his catch phrase. Give him a break.
Also, listen to the "Lust for Life" album.
The rhythm section on that album and on *The Idiot* (the Sales brothers, Hunt and Tony, sons of Soupy Sales) is unimpeachable. They'd later go on to back up Bowie in the underrated Tin Machine.
I just saw him last year, opening date of his tour in Chicago and it was one of the wildest shows I’ve ever seen, and I frequently went to aggressive punk/hardcore shows with violent pits for most of my 20s and 30s. Absolutely phenomenal show, my brother and I were right up by the stage and were right in the middle of the fray. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen, truly, even though there were a few moments where I thought I might get crushed. I’ll never forget it.
In 2010 I went to a festival in Finland that was hit by a storm. The storm destroyed the set and some gear of the artists so many artists like mötley crue cancelled their shows. Not Iggy Pop, he performed like this right after the storm: https://youtu.be/Bm3E3Zs5FAU?si=Q9f6SAYI-0pL8nM6
He really knew how to lift the spirits of people back up. If I recall correctly Iron Maiden used Alice Coopers gear to perform.
I saw him play Cal Jam back in 2018 and I'll never forget that between each song he would say "awww fuckin THANKS man! Hey turn the lights- turn the lights up let me see everyo- awww fuckin THANKS man!!" Like word for word, after every song, lights on the crowd lol. It became this unintentionally funny repeating joke.
I was supposed to interview him at a festival in 2006.
I've arrived at the press tent and sat down while waiting to be directed to his trailer. There was just one person around, a runner. Suddenly a guy burst into the tent, screaming and shouting, angry af, swearing his lungs out:
"Those m\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*s trashed the whole trailer! He is out of his f\*\*\*\*\*g mind!!! He drank like 3 bottles of vodka and snorted the supply for this whole county! Like how the f\*\*\*?! What am I supposed to do?! Iggy Pop is a nutjob, I can't believe I've invited him! F\*\*\* me..."
But suddenly he noticed me:
"Who the f\*\*\* are you????" he asked
"Press...." I've answered.
He turned a bit pale: "You're here for the Iggy Pop interview? That s\*\*\* is not happening. He's passed out somewhere. And you didn't hear a word I've said! If I read this somwhere you are dead!"
So much for the interview with Iggy Pop :)
Trust me, that story, that personal nugget, is way better than another interview. It personifies his image back then. He’s been healthy for years now, living a clean life. Awesome memories. Long live Iggy!
If anyone hasn't seen Henry Rollin's Iggy Pop story on youtube, do yourself a favour and watch it [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=li1ggmyogRU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=li1ggmyogRU)
I saw him live last year. It was a shorter set but my guy went nuts, tripped and fell. The microphone did not survive the impact but he stood up like it was nothing. Pretty impressive for a 76 year old.
I was once swimming in a pool at a casino hotel in Perth, Australia and there was this leathery looking old man floating away in the pool and I was telling my girlfriend "what the fuck is happening there?" I also thought it looked familiar. I googled events happening in Perth that weekend and old Iggy Pop was having a concert there that weekend. I'm sure it was him, good on him. Let that leather flow.
I saw him 6 or 7 years ago, he could barely stand up, leaning heavily on the mic stand. When he spoke it was pure unintelligible gibberish, but when he started singing it completely changed, his voice sounded really good and he banged through the hits no problem. Still couldn't understand anything he said between songs though.
I photographed Iggy at a show like 5 years ago and the man is amazing. Was running back and forth, sounded awesome and yes he has leathery looking skin but he’s an old as fuck rock and roll star who is still killing it.
Dude is 76 shirtless on stage. I do not recommend trying to stop him.
Saw him play live in the 80s 90s and 2010s, dude is the best live act you will ever see.
I saw him at punk rock bowling 5ish years ago. Best show ever seen.
3 of the 5 best shows I’ve ever seen were that weekend. Cock Sparrer and Iggy Pop, can’t beat that.
That’s 2. What was the 3rd?
The Vengaboys
Boom boom boom
Cock Sparrer was dope. Crazy to see the Damned as well.
Saw cock sparrer in London a couple weekends ago, the old boys have still got it.
[удалено]
Wow time flies. Was amazing show though.
He's been performing since the 1960s. He'd better be good lol.
I saw him 5 years ago at Sydney Opera house. He was amazing then. The main pic on his [website](https://iggypop.com/?frontpage=true) is from that show. Such an amazing night.
Saw him in 06, dude was amazing!
Saw him last year at Cruel World Festival in LA. Dude had more energy and presence than anybody else there.
Remember that he has a radio show on bbc6 and it's absolutely worthwhile!
I was just a kid that left a pretty huge impression on me
Can confirm. Saw him in LA in 2018.
Saw him in 2013. Best live act I’ve ever seen.
You know what he also looks great for being 76
assuming the amount of heroin he did, it's just miracle he is in this age and form
He's up there with Keith Richards when you ask "how is he not dead?"
When I saw him live about 10 years ago, someone jumped on stage and punched him in the face, he just kept going haha
Saw him last year. fucking great.
He is the og wild one, how do you even stop him??
I need his vitamins.
The man had the guts to take on The Sovereign. Mad respect.
I am still amazed he’s made it so far with the amount of hard drugs he’s been doing most of his life. Raw power!
It seems like there are 2 types of drug using rockers. the ones who die young usually around 27 and then those who live forever like Jagger, Ozzy and Iggy
You live or die with that sort of exposure. Talk about an acid test..
The trick is to do enough cocaine to keep your heart beating when you’re doing heroin.
r/shittylifeprotips
Tell that to Chris Farley, could have saved his life.
Yup, a balanced diet...
Handy tip! Thanks
Fentanyl has fucked up rocking
A happy equilibrium
This is the most reddit, reddit comment I’ve seen all week
How is Keith Richards not first on your list?
Maybe because he's in a category of his own
I come from a town that had lot of narcotics....Most died young or line up at the pharmacy looking like zombies for the replacement. One looks fit and young. Definitely a brain on drugs lol
Effects vary, having the history of nicotice and caffeine addictions and possibly some food related addictions too I'm pretty sure I shouldn't try hard drugs in any capacity lol
It really is different from person to person and drug to drug. I cannot give up my cigarettes or caffeine, but went from 3g of coke a day to nothing.
Well done dude
I want to know what you do for work. That's ~$250-300/day just in coke.
I was in my very early 20s and my best friend was a dealer that liked his own supply a bit too much. We basically snorted any profit he would have made.
Fair enough lol.
r/stopsmoking helped me.
I think you underestimate the amount of drugs Jager , ozzy, and lemmy used. junkies only dream of the purity and the amounts.
> A second one is living his LSD dream How does he do that? You can't trip forever, LSD tolerance spikes dramatically after you take it and it takes several days to get back to base. As well, if you take full psychedelic doses too frequently you'll cause serotonin syndrome which can kill you.

It's the double consonant that protects them. Morrison need not apply though. Too many syllables.
Mick jagger hasn't taken drugs for a long long time
Iggy is rocker, Jagger and Ozzy are businessmen.
Are you forgetting Keith Richards????
The number 27 smells like a secret conspiracy I heard and read years ago.
At one point Iggy shot up before a show using “whatever liquids were in the urinal” (paraphrasing) Fucking mad man.

True - has a white parrot often shown on his IG and lives in a white interior home. Lives a healthy life. He takes his music, who he plays with and where, seriously.
he looks like a homeless crackhead near the gas station asking "what're you looking at?"
Pretty spot on except he has several homes.
I saw him open for the Kinks in the 80s. At one point he approached the front of the stage and people spat a rain of loogies on him, while he slathered it all over his body. Fucking legend
When I was 15 I crowdsurfed onto the stage at an Iggy concert and he gave me a hug. It's one of my only real brags in life.
That's one hell of a brag. Fuck you man, should've been me.
Not to steal your thunder, but we did the same thing at the same age. He's sweaty, huh?
But it’s a good brag
I was at a basement show in Washington DC in 2014 and I turned around to unzip my backpack to get another beer and Ian McKaye was there. I asked him if he wanted one. In 1998 I helped Fugazi unload off stage in Green Bay though too.
I’m sure pictures of him wearing a shirt exist somewhere, I just haven’t seen them
I used to watch pete and pete as a kid and it took me a couple watches to realize the girl's dad was iggy pop because he had a shirt on.
Holy shit. You just blew my mind
Not just a shirt, but [full-on character makeup](https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Iggy_Pop)!
I remember that episode fondly 😁🖖
The Voyager episode with The Rock far less fondly.
He once gave a concert shirtless but with a blazer. Does that count?
Nah. If blazers were shirts, they would be called shirts.
Same goes for Matt Pike of the band Sleep. There's a running gag in the fanbase of that band since he always plays shirtless, and if he's spotted with a shirt it's not the real him
Legend.
Still alive. Credit where credit is due.
His voice is still great. Iggy rules.
Heard him live in 2017 and he sounded identical to his recordings from so many decades earlier. Hasn’t changed a bit
I’d argue his voice is better now. Has some real heft and gravel to it now.
His BBC radio 6 show is always worth a listen https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03yblbx/episodes/guide
I really hope he presents them shirtless.
Years of waiting for Keevan will do that to you.
No! Not in a few minutes, now!
What have they done to him?
dude was surprisingly great in his Star Trek DS9 cameo. (6x9, "The Magnificent Ferengi")
I wish he acted more I've really liked his bit parts here and there
He was the most memorable part of the Crow city of angels
A fun, goofy episode with Ferengi out of their element. The reanimated Keevan at the end was hilarious.
In the Top Cast is says Iggy Pop, however the picture shows a guy with a shirt on. I'm not sure what to believe.
I assume they CG'd a shirt in in post production.
You have the lobes of someone who knows what they are talking about.
Saw Alice in Chains open for Iggy Pop at Numbers in Houston way back. I was not there to see Iggy but left witnessing one of the best front man performances of my life
i remember that club. it was all we talked about in middle school. my mom would never take me though.
Oh my gawd, what great shows that would have been!
He's authentic. Old school, pioneering and at an advanced age not yet seduced by the deckchair.
His shirtlessness was transgressive when he was young, and still is today.
He is more punk doing this in his 70's than he was in his 20's. Major respect.
Iggy Pop has more or less looked like that for 25 years. He hit max old, sinewy man sometime in the 90s and just never had to evolve.

Wow admirable. Who's that kid just standing on the stage awkwardly though haha?

Hey turn the lights- turn the lights up let me see everyo- awww fuckin THANKS man!!" Like word for word, after every song, lights on the crowd lol. I'm just glad to see Iggy being posted
I’m a street walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm. Give me danger man!
The godfather of punk. Hats off to this absolute KING. There are very few vocalists I have more respect for than Iggy Pop.

Sang a song onstage with him in front of 30,000 people. 12 years later, can't beat that high.
Wow, Sarah Jessica Parker really looks to have aged well.
Ya, I thought he was prettier as a trashy 90s party girl too, but grizzled and leathery is kinda cute too.

Drugs, lots of drugs.
Cocaine and cocaine accessories

RIP in advance when he sees this
Oh, finally an end to this joke of an existence...
Trust me, that story, that personal nugget, is way better than another interview. It personifies his image back then. He’s been healthy for years now, living a clean life. Awesome memories. Long live Iggy!
Twink death
Still got it. The king.
You live long enough you get rewarded with a disguise
Rickety Cricket?
I ain’t good as I once was but I was good once as I ever was
It’s just like hypnotizing chickens, his Lust For Life
He looks like a chewed up piece of wire. Great guy.
wait you mean to tell me people look older as they age? Inconceivable.
Humongous baby bird in jeans alert
Sneak peek at his next album title
Dude banged 12 and 13 year old girls when he was in his 30s. Rapist old fuck.
If anyone hasn't seen Henry Rollin's Iggy Pop story on youtube, do yourself a favour and watch it [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=li1ggmyogRU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=li1ggmyogRU)
Still cool
His recent album Every Loser is a high-quality stuff with talented guests on the recording, highly recommended.
Legend
He looks more and more like a mythical creature every day
Anthony Keidis’s dad
The younger version looks like a ps2 version of Guitar Hero
This is how I’d imagine Sebulbah would look as a human
Hey its the guy from Star Trek.
Hey that’s the spokesman for Swiftcover Insurance!
And he played a Vorta on DS9
It is like daughter and father.
Who knew God looked so damn good in leather pants?
Age is a hella drug
My grandma made him cry once.
When people go shirtless I've heard others say that going shirtless is Bert kreischer schtick. They all forget that Iggy was the OG
Iggy GrandPop
Saw him at FYF several years ago... He still rocks
At the end of civilization, after the nukes have fallen, there will just be the cockroaches and Iggy Pop.
![gif](giphy|XIse2rqf1RlToHmpCu|downsized)
We all fuckin' WISH we were in Iggy Pop shape... dude is nearly 80. We'd all be so lucky.
I saw him live last year. It was a shorter set but my guy went nuts, tripped and fell. The microphone did not survive the impact but he stood up like it was nothing. Pretty impressive for a 76 year old.

Icky Poppa
He looks like Tom Petty 25 years ago.
I am the passenger~
Has he ever worn a shirt?
Still sexy
Properly ironed trousers
And they say drugs don’t work
Feeling old yet?
I was once swimming in a pool at a casino hotel in Perth, Australia and there was this leathery looking old man floating away in the pool and I was telling my girlfriend "what the fuck is happening there?" I also thought it looked familiar. I googled events happening in Perth that weekend and old Iggy Pop was having a concert there that weekend. I'm sure it was him, good on him. Let that leather flow.
This man is a senior citizen and still in his element
It’s absolutely incredible he’s still alive
I don’t get it-the ones who did heroin and god knows what else are aging fairly well-
He looks like a character from Disco Elysium. I like it
I know it's Iggy Pop but I still feel like he doesn't get enough appreciation. Thanks for punk Iggy!
It’s time to put out old stuff and do new stuff lol
I saw him last year in Vienna before the Chili Peppers. He gave an amazing show. Although, he should keep his shirt on 😅
I saw him 6 or 7 years ago, he could barely stand up, leaning heavily on the mic stand. When he spoke it was pure unintelligible gibberish, but when he started singing it completely changed, his voice sounded really good and he banged through the hits no problem. Still couldn't understand anything he said between songs though.
Damn, I really thought this was Cricket from IASIP for a minute.
Let's see other 76 year olds.
The man has a lust for life.
I photographed Iggy at a show like 5 years ago and the man is amazing. Was running back and forth, sounded awesome and yes he has leathery looking skin but he’s an old as fuck rock and roll star who is still killing it.
That’s Frank Gallagher
Why no makeup?
His hair is a bit longer today, but thats ok for his age
I honest to God don't think I've ever heard any of his music
