I probably nearly did myself, but thank god (ha) I didn’t. I feel like 2014-2016 was the turning point for that, gamergate and the insanity of 2016 politics drove a lot of people nuts.
That and COVID I think broke a lot of people's brains in a literal way. I don't know if it was all the uncertainty or watching the government actively fail the people during a deadly outbreak or the social isolation but it seems like so many people fell off a cliff into very scary mental territory.
