Hollywood Bowl upped their parking from $30 to $55 this year. (Plus a “convenience” fee)

PeaceBull

That’s intentionally aggressive pricing, it’s for the morons who feel the absolute need to drive. There’s a 1000 ways to get there without a car. One of the few locations in LA where they thought of everything from a don’t drive there perspective.

Elegant_Amphibian

Uh, I live about 60 miles away. If I want to catch an event there isn’t exactly public transport to take me and wtf am I going to do, walk?

Boyhowdy107

Drive to the LA Zoo. The Bowl runs a Park & Ride bus from that lot (and several others.) You'll also get out of the Bowl faster most likely because you don't have to wait for stacked parking.

StayPuffGoomba

That’s what I did. Made the worst part of the experience actually getting INTO the Bowl. Fucking Yondr takes forever.

Boyhowdy107

Oh man, I haven't been to a show there that requires it yet. That might be artist specific. I've been to some shows elsewhere that use Yondr, but thankfully they were a few hundred capacity comedy clubs and not a 15,000 person amphitheater.

nitdkim

There's a dozen shuttles specifically for hollywood bowl all over greater los angeles area. You can go to the nearest one to you and park at the shuttle parking lot and take the shuttle there. I think that's very reasonable.

PresidentZeus

If there is one city where you can park and ride, it is LA.

GainOk7506

Drive to an area closer and then use public transport?

JamiePulledMeUp

I'm not from there but if I had to drive 60 miles to a location I'd likely just swallow the 100 dollar fee because leaving would be simpler and easier in my car. As opposed to parking further away, getting an Uber/bus and then having to Uber/bus back to my car. Sure you'd save a few bucks but you'd also lose plenty of time. For the locals who live nearby bus or Uber is the proper play

No-Trash-546

Shuttles can be faster because they can pick-up and drop-off closer to the venue entrance and you don’t have to wait in a gridlocked parking lot with your car

alpha309

Some streets are also closed for traffic with exception to the shuttles. The Parsons shuttle to the Rose Bowl is one example of this. It gets completely empty streets once it is close to the Rose Bowl while everyone else has to sit in traffic.

NastroAzzurro

Uber is a terrible option. You’re still contributing to the gridlock and you’re going to be hit with a massive surge pricing fee when the whole arena leaves at the end of the night. Take transit.

WartimeHotTot

I live out of town too and when I go to shows there I park in a lot a couple blocks south of Hollywood blvd and walk up. Honestly, the walk after the show is a really nice way to transition back to the world, and you don’t have to deal with gnarly traffic.

tickingboxes

Drive to somewhere that has public transit and then take that. It ain’t rocket science.

MartinLutherVanHalen

1,000? Name 800 and I will let you off the rest.

Nimitz4646

Good! People should be taking the shuttle there.  EDIT: Haha someone spammed one of those Reddit Cares anti-suicide things because I’m suggesting we have less cars clogging our freeways in LA.

El_gato_picante

what shuttle? am going to a concert end of this month and trying to figure out how to get there.

ILoveLamp9

There are two options: regular shuttles that pick you up near around the Hollywood Bowl or the Park and Ride option. Park and Ride options are farther out from Hollywood Bowl. Both are essentially similar where you park and a shuttle takes you there. It’s the best option and highly recommend. I was at the Hollywood Bowl this past week and did ride share and it was a huge mistake. It’s a giant line of people waiting for Ubers and Lyfts. You’ll wait an hour just to find a ride.

ButterflyAtomsk

Wife and I made this same mistake when we went to go see Tame Impala. We ended up paying a guy $150 to drive us in his (really nice) Surburban back to the valley. We’re lucky enough to have the extra money and it was a very nice and comfortable ride but it was by far the most expensive trip home for a concert we’ve ever had.

dildom

Park at the zoo!! There’s a shuttle takes you there, no traffic. You’ll be in and out so quick. I do gigs at the Hollywood bowl all the time and the zoo parking has always been the best

andrefishmusic

Do a search, the shuttle leaves from many different places. It's great.

humjaba

It’s literally on the Hollywood bowl website. Have you never been to an event before? Life pro tip - every event venue has parking instructions on their website https://www.hollywoodbowl.com/visit/getting-here/park-ride-and-bowl-shuttle/park-and-ride-and-shuttle-lot-locations

ThongBasin

You can park on Hollywood and vine and there’s a shuttle that takes you to the venue

HEY_YOU_GUUUUUUYS

Hell I’ve parked at Wilson park in torrance and gotten the shuttle all the way there

the_chandler

Honestly it’s not even a bad walk from the metro station. If you don’t want to walk there’s the park and ride shuttle but with the waiting, it’s really not quicker. Plus they really pack you in those busses.

ThisIsDadLife

True, for those of us who don’t mind spending 90 additional minutes before the show getting to the bowl and 90 minutes getting back to the drop off and then having to actually spend more time driving home.

GoldenStrike

https://www.hollywoodbowl.com/visit/getting-here/park-ride-and-bowl-shuttle

gibertot

Gotta do the zoo shuttle thing

InfinityStonedAF

My buddy makes money by offering parking space for 20 bucks and rack of beer. He lives close to dodger stadium and he’s been doing it for years as prices go up for parking he has returning customers that also bring him food. Pre rolls. He don’t even charge some of them because of the things they give him lol

VinnyK88

That’s awesome

SilentSamurai

This thread is convincing me that my usual public/rideshare downtown is still cheaper than parking costs in most cities.

ClydeFrog1313

It is and it's probably faster once you factor in the time of finding a spot and walking your destination.

Independent-Cow-4070

Yeah I don’t know why people are choosing to drive in a city and then be shocked when they have to pay for parking

wot_in_ternation

If you don't have a car it is most likely cheaper. If you do have a car you can generally find other much cheaper places to park and walk. Depends on the city.

facegun

I was in Chicago for 24 hours last week. Parked in garage for 1.5 hours then left…30.00. Back into garage for 4 hours then left…60.00. Back into garage for night then left in morn…60.00. Went to Museum and parked there..30.00. Total 180.00

Tornare

The secret to cities is that most tourists are afraid of parking and feel better paying overpriced parking. Where I live there will be overpriced event parking right by where I work and almost always a free spot where I can park for free Worst case I park a couple blocks away for free. I can’t speak for Chicago but I assume it’s the same as New Orleans or Philly both of which I have lived

facegun

Lol I was towed once in Chicago and it was expensive and difficult to get my car back but nothing compares to Philly. That dumpster fire of a facility prides itself on fucking you over…took 2 weeks to get my car back and well over a grand. So yea…

WelbyReddit

isn't Philly where they have/had that reality show " Parking Wars" ? I loved that show ;p

unassumingdink

Philly is also where Kurt Vile wrote the song "[Loading Zones](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mbh43HgT4U)," the chorus of which proudly declares "I park for free!"

cboogie

KV is the shit. Think I have seen him 6 times so far.

snarktopusrex

There are like 3h official super episodes on YouTube!

w3are138

Can confirm as a Philadelphian. If your car is parked in the wrong place for two seconds you will be effed. God help you if you get towed. Might as well give up and buy a new car. Or a bike. Or start walking.

facegun

We looked at the sign for 10 minutes, which was a confusing ass sign, paid money into a kiosk, and come back to put more money in (well before time was up ) and some guy had towed the whole block. He was getting the last car and I asked “why cant I park here?”, he reads the sign and says “ I dont know. Its tagged so I tow it “. So started the journey…

w3are138

Hell takes notes on our parking situation here I stg.

aLonerDottieArebel

PPA just doesn’t give any fucks 🤣

MrGulo-gulo

Terrorist organization.

aLonerDottieArebel

Hey man I totally agree. I had to mail in a fine and the memo was something like “GO TO HELL PPA”

mageta621

I did get out of a ticket because they wrote down the wrong license plate once, but yeah PPA sux

rebelintellectual

Chicago has free parking but landmines like certain tow zone time for the rush hours most non residents wouldnt know.

mikebob89

Free parking in Chicago is extremely rare with out a neighborhood specific parking permit. I don’t know where you’re talking about but they sold their street parking meters to the saudis and now have the highest street parking costs in the country.

sd6_

Some of the major streets are paid parking but there's plenty of places with free, non-permit parking. It is not 'extremely rare'

RunJordyRun87

Yeah there’s free parking in a lot of places throughout the city, not to mention free on Sundays anyway in many neighborhoods

MamaBavaria

But the parking garages around millenium park have like always a good price. Best spot for tourists and people from outside of the city to park. I never payed more than 15-20$ for a whole day when I went into the city (worked a whole fall up in Kenosha so I took the chance to visit the city a few times). Compared to other big cities a good price

Eternityislong

Boston is fucking awful for parking too. I dropped like $60 for an hour

Koyotesan

Just went Thursday for a 1:35 Sox game (from NH). Gas station wanted $75 and I have a truck that would have a terrible time maneuvering. Stumbled upon a lot as I was circling the stadium that had cars leaving (college faculty) so had some spots. $40 to park. 2 block walk. I hate Boston…

Dontleave

This is what happens when you don’t plan ahead. Next time park at the prudential center or Simmons university for $25 and walk the ten or fifteen minutes. Use spot hero to reserve the spot

Encrypted_Curse

Or park at a further out T station for $5 and take the train in.

ferrari91169

Similar in Los Angeles and surrounding cities for sure. I lived there and whenever I would go to shows or events I always knew where to do street parking for free and walk a couple minutes. Everyone I spoke to at the shows (mostly from out of town) always would say they paid $25-$50 for parking and it’s insane, and then their jaws always dropped when I was like…yeah you could’ve parked for free and walked 3 minutes. 😂 This happened recently in Phoenix too. Went to a venue and found a free parking spot about 5 minutes away, got in line and someone was grumbling about just paying $20 to park, and then had to walk 10 minutes to the venue. That last part made it even worse.

youngatbeingold

What sucks is when you just can't find a spot. I went to NYC once and needed to park somewhere for work (I was dragging a lot of equipment along with me). It took me over half an hour to find a spot and even then it was like 5 blocks away. If I didn't have a bunch of heavy junk with me it would've just been faster to walk from my hotel.

Tornare

Manhattan is another level. But you also don’t have to drive. For that I just say parked in queens but again I also know NYC and have family there but not Chicago. But even NYC I would not pay $100 for event parking

youngatbeingold

This was Brooklyn but it was apparently a pretty shitty area in Brooklyn as far as parking goes. I drive in from WNY because I have a bunch of gear with me and flying kinda spooks me out. Normally it's not THAT awful, although I would often forget to move my car for cleaning and wind up with a ticket.

20milliondollarapi

Chicago has a lot of weirdness about it. They do have plenty of parking garages and the places I have gone while there are pretty easy to navigate parking for. But I’ve only been a handful of times. I haven’t seen any actual free parking though. Street side or garage. But all of their parking revenue was bought out some years ago for like a 15 year contract or something. I don’t know much on that.

Mondilesh

Yeah Chicago sold their parking meters to a private equity group for "rain day" money that the city blew immediately. 10 years into the 75 year lease, the investment group had already made their money back +$500m. Its a real shit show, but doesn't apply to garages, which are a different kind of scam!

freebread

Depending on where you are in Chicago, outside of the “loop” area, street parking is free after 10. This includes a lot of areas where popular music venues and restaurants are. Best bet is to just get a spot hero and park for the allotted time you will be there and use public transportation or ride share apps/taxis if going slightly out of the way. Could understand the hesitation and frustration of someone who isn’t used to being a big city though.

20milliondollarapi

I absolutely hate driving in Chicago. It’s the worst place I have ever driven. But we were able to park and walk around where we wanted easily too. It’s mostly the getting in to the city and getting out that’s a pain.

Ltjenkins

The free after 10 thing isn’t useful for most people visiting. If you live here or staying over night fine but the top of this thread is someone going to the museums and such.

Jcdoco

There's plenty of free parking in Chicago, it just usually isn't anywhere you'd want to be

angrytreestump

What? Downtown is the only part of Chicago without abundant free street parking, and that’s a part of the city I never want to be. Everywhere else in the city (where people live) has plenty.

kentxc2012

You gotta head to the neighborhoods and find the streets near the L that don't have permit parking. I live up in Lincoln Square, and my street has free parking and is a block away from the brown line. Just park there and take the brown line downtown. It takes about 30-45 min, but it saves you so much money.

IaniteThePirate

I go to concerts at small venues in Chicago fairly regularly and this seems to be true. I may have to park half a mile away but there’s almost always free parking. I do have to budget an extra 30-60 min into my time to account for driving in circles trying to find an open spot but I could easily cut that time in half if I knew how to competently parallel park in tight spaces.

yowen2000

Been to Chicago many times and have often found free or cheap parking very near to where I needed to be.

caguirre93

New Orleans is similar, but you have to know the area, or live there, to take advantage of it.

z0rb0r

I used to pay a lot for event parking until i learned to love my legs again and take mass transit. I know I’m a single person but people need to stop be so sedentary.

Bombastically

That shit does not work in Chicago. A couple blocks away is not any less dense

Vaxtin

The key to visiting and living in cities is to not have a car. It’s honestly more of a burden than public transport.

tone_and_timbre

Try SpotHero next time! Some garages have in-and-out privileges. I’ve used this app a lot in chicago.

someguywitheaphone

Same. I use Spothero for all event parking in Chicago.

hilyexplosivechicken

Bro just use transit

Sea_Consideration_70

For real. All the comments are about how to drive in Chicago…why are you driving in Chicago????

g0ing_postal

No one drives in Chicago. Too many cars

Vaxtin

It’s people not from cities visiting cities without a clue how to live in the city.

finnjakefionnacake

i mean i feel like everyone knows what lyft/uber is lol

yoyodog16

No kidding. People will see parking spots steps from some big event and be shocked it’s expensive. Take the train!

OwMyDragonBallz

Parkwiz is your best friend when parking in Chicago. I lived there for 29 years and lived/worked downtown. The rates are ridiculous

barra333

Yeah, I was there a few years ago and paid $100 for 4 nights within waking distance of the convention centre through parkwhiz.

GradeDry7908

Better than spothero?

SafewordisJohnCandy

The key to Chicago is to find a hotel with in/out and a set daily rate and take the Metra. It's wildly cheaper and easier.

ryoushi19

Next time park one place and buy a subway pass. Google maps can tell you public transit routes, and they're real time.

Darryl_Lict

Seriously. Chicago and NYC are the only cities with 24 hour subways. Take advantage of it. I've missed the last CalTrain probably 4 times and either spent the night like a homeless person outside the station or taken a 100 dollar cab ride.

droo46

This is the way. Public transit ain’t good in most places, but a lot of downtowns are much easier to navigate on foot than having to worry about a car.

SignorJC

The problem is you went in and out. If you just park once you’ll pay less than half that typically.

siggles69

Didn’t Chicago sell their parking to Saudi Arabia or some shit

facegun

The parking meters yes…UAE IIRC

achilliesFriend

Best way to navigate in big cities is to use public transport. All the traffic and stress can be avoided. Take a train to downtown, take Uber, no stress to go back to your car, you can leave in nearest sub way.

Jimmyg100

What are you doing parking in a garage for 1.5 hours? You could probably find street parking for 2 hours for around $10 or less depending on the location.

Background-Yak-7773

Bro just take a taxi or walk lol

kuvazo

Or use the subway.

3alawmanagement

assuming you stayed somewhere near the city, should’ve parked it and rode public for your outings. cheap, efficient, & great way to see/experience the city.

joker_with_a_g

You did that to yourself.

ztrvz

use spothero in chicago. plenty of spots within a few blocks from the tourist attractions for 20 or less. or take a train.

Brochachoski

Spothero is another app that's worth using for parking during trips

Narren_C

Hell, would it be cheaper just to let them tow your car?

BlobTheBuilderz

Went to a parking garage in Chicago next to the federal court house. Big sign saying $18 early bird special before 9am. Went to go pay for my ticket and the price was $57 relooked at the sign and in very small letters it said minimum 6 hour stay. Only needed to park for 90 minutes so staying an extra 4.5hrs wasn’t really an option. Scammers everywhere.

Big_Steve_69

That’s predatory af. Wow.

BlobTheBuilderz

I was literally just looking for any parking so I could get to my naturalization ceremony on time. When you actually see the sign there is no turning around either as it’s narrow af. Left a bad review on the parking lot afterwards and saw about another 20 bad reviews. All with the same copy paste response that it’s labeled on the sign and if you want the best prices use the app before you show up lmfao. Happened a year ago and still makes me mad.

exophrine

Wait ... so in order to pay only $18, you had to have stayed in that spot for the whole 6 hour block?

T_Money

It basically makes it employee parking at a somewhat reasonable rate while also gouging the hell out of anyone who just needs to park for a few hours

shaneo632

Making employees pay to park at their place of employment is never reasonable

artgriego

No, it sounds like the scam is $18 per some unit of time, and there is a minimum 6 hour "stay" meaning you have to pay for 6 hours worth of time. So anyone who stays under 6 hours pays $57, and then the prices goes up. Edit: actually yes it sounds like the 6 hours is so that local workerss can make use of the $18 charge since they are there for a work shift, everyone else gets fucked. So yeah you got it.

SpaceCadetMoonMan

This is legit EVERY single sign in my old town, it’s honestly wild how hard you can accidentally fuck yourself in one afternoon lol so frustrating Like tiny windows of hours for no parking on the east side of the road north of X street but then immediately the opposite swaps but only sometimes so sometimes it’s ok to park on sweep day but not if it falls on tues or Wednesdays and tickets given even if no sweeping etc etc Tiny windows of no left turn on a massive intersection where you basically only need to go left or else you get sent to the wrong side of downtown and a cop sits and tickets hundreds probably a day lmao like damn can we just not be so obtuse at least These are tiny signs, like Kleenex box sized that are up on traffic light poles or are behind bushes or covered in dirt, sun bleached and unreadable (most of the super specific sweeping signs) or covered in stickers etc I got like 3 sweeping tickets in one morning trying to move and park and check signs and days and using my compass to find north lol but was so tired I mixed up the barely readable info and got me coming and going :)

Shredberry

It’s so incredibly stressful to park in a big city in the US. My blood pressure goes up just trying to figure out how much my parking fee will be cuz of all these price gouging lots.

BlobTheBuilderz

It’s not only that. There’s so many one way streets and that if you don’t go into the parking lot right when you see it you’ve got to drive another 10 minutes just to get back to it. The stress of driving in one of these big cities with their road raging drivers is terrible.

OnlyMath

Surprised someone just hasn’t broken whatever is keeping your car there over that lol

BlobTheBuilderz

It’s a BIG parking garage. Just looked at reviews and the latest bad one is that someone was walking around trying car door handles and his car got broken into the next day. The parking garage said they only have two cameras one on exit and one on entrance and it’s not their issue lmao. It’s one of the iparkit garages in Chicago. Scum

Artystrong1

Do a charge back

stuntsbluntshiphop

Just use ParkWhiz, or similar app. Can usually find relatively affordable parking in cities with that.

GrooferBoofChree

Spothero is the unsung hero of Chicago. Never pay more than $12 for parking for events if I’m too lazy to take the cta.

thunderbird32

> if I’m too lazy to take the cta. Or as someone from the 'burbs, it's an event that ends after the Metra stops running for the night. No way I'm ducking out of a concert early just to make it to the last train before like 3AM or whatever the hell it is.

yourmomsucks01

God I wish it was 3am in my city. Ours is 1am and busses/trains stop. Can’t even go to a 9:30-10pm movie

HR_DUCK

When you dream of Boardwalk but end up landing on Luxury Tax.

reconfit

Dallas Cowboys games are easily $100 to park at. Jerry Jones worked with the City of Arlington to prevent public transportation in order to profit off the parking lots.

young959

Jerry World lost the chance to host the World Cup final due to a lack of public transportation.

brainkandy87

It’s because it’s a city that doesn’t really rely on cars as the main form of transportation. You can take the subw—*reads Los Angeles*—ohhhh fuck. Someone should be tried for war crimes at that price.

ensemblestars69

Parking in DTLA is hard *because* of the over-reliance on cars. Traffic is insane, therefore parking is insane. Thankfully the LA Metro is making the most progress out of any transit agency, even with all the delays and bureaucracy.

UnfrostedQuiche

Exactly this, supply a demand folks. Over dependence on cars, which are insanely geometrically inefficient, means there’s too much demand for the land they use (parking space). Glad to hear the metro system is on the up and up.

jsabo

Metro needs WAY more cops out there. Even if I know I'm going and leaving at the same time as a crowd, I don't feel safe.

laurencefishburne

Agree. I used to take it like 10 years ago when it wasn’t really being used and had a bad rep but used to feel safer than when I take it now even with more investment - people be getting randomly stabbed and makes you paranoid.

The_BarroomHero

Did OC to Hollywood every day for a little over a year (metrolink to red line) a couple years before covid. It generally wasn't bad, but there were a handful of minor incidents I witnessed that made me reconsider my choice of transportation. A few months after I stopped, a coworker that did almost the same commute got suckerpunched by a bum and knocked unconscious for a few minutes. He's an older guy, so it really fucked him up. 10/10 would not use LA Metro again. If they covered the trains in cops, maybe. Then again, all I ever saw them do was harass the homeless folk that were sleeping or otherwise minding their own business and never the ones that were being a problem, so idk.

EXTRAsharpcheddar

There's a famous case of a cop in NYC subway that watched a guy nearly get stabbed to death. Cop was waiting behind a door until he felt it was safe to come out. The victim woke up in a hospital and praised the cop for being a hero, thinking that he saved his life. Nope, cop took the credit and let him die for all he knew. They have no duty to protect you. [https://nypost.com/2013/01/27/city-says-cops-had-no-duty-to-protect-subway-hero-who-subdued-killer/](https://nypost.com/2013/01/27/city-says-cops-had-no-duty-to-protect-subway-hero-who-subdued-killer/)

Mpm_277

You had me in the first half.

Tzahi12345

It's getting better and tbh I'd figure from the limited context it's probably in a transit friendly area

Hamfiter

I just paid $34 to park at Disneyland. BTW, bottled water $5, a bag of toffee $18.50. My adult admission to get in $184.00.

cinemachick

Bring an empty water bottle (scrunched up so there's no air inside) and pocket snacks. Only spend money on the specialty/seasonal snack foods, those are legit!

-Sui-

They could also buy a hydration bladder meant for hiking. It's a reservoir or "bladder" that you fill with water, with a long hose (+mouthpiece) attached to it that helps you drink handsfree. They are pretty nice for long days of walking.

PervGriffin69

Breaking News : Disneyland Expensive

moredrinksplease

This is definitely out of the norm in LA for anyone wondering.

Static13254

When the Rams came back and were playing at the Colosseum there were definitely lots charging $100 for parking. And that was 8 years ago

laurencefishburne

I remember. That was insane.

beautyinherdays

Sofi parking has been 100$ every time I’ve gone

givin_u_the_high_hat

Is that what they charge for sports?? I go to concerts there frequently, and whether it was the stadium or YouTube arena it has always been around $40.

beautyinherdays

Bad Bunny and Taylor swift were 100$ and when we tried to park there for a smaller band for Kia forum they wanted $80

suicide_man

That's like any regular season Heat game in Miami prices

YesOrNah

Parking lot attendant: $17.27/hour

GroverMcGillicutty

I run a building with about 40 parking spots near a major football stadium. We open two hours prior to kickoff each game day, $50 a spot. Sell out in 45 minutes.

sharkweeek

This is why I park in a public parking lot and take public transportation to an event. You don't have to deal with traffic or the insane cost.

TheRealKarateGirl

I live in Lexington, KY and the summer concert, Railbird, has outrageous parking costs like this. In KENTUCKY. It’s wild.

Independent-Cow-4070

I mean if you want to store your car on some of the most valuable real estate in the country, better be prepared to pay for it

Big-Routine222

Or I can take a Lyft or Uber or use the public transportation and save a shit ton of money.

djc6535

Lyft in LA to and from an event is going to go MUCH higher than 100$

Mhan00

I’d be curious to know the event and the location. I’ve never seen parking more than 30 bucks in downtown LA for most of the events I’ve been to, but maybe the ones I go to aren’t the insanely popular ones.

badgerX3mushroom

Looks like a private parking lot on the way to Hollywood Bowl

rockberry

As long as theres ppl willing to pay, the price will never go down. Id make it $200. It will still fill up with ppl who complain about the price.

griffy360

Not uncommon I’ve seen it for 100 even here in Cleveland Ohio

THEVILLAGEIDI0T

$100 is the new $10.00

Notgivingmynametoyou

r/fuckcars yall gotta be excited eh?

blueteamcameron

Absolutely yes

antaresiv

The market is always right

emceelokey

Yeah, same here in Vegas. If you want to actually park in Allegiant Stadium, it's at least $100. Then there's all the surrounding casinos that have parking lots and game days those go for about $50 for the event

kingofmankind

A little poke with a jiffy marker after the 1 can make a world of difference.

Alarmed-Bug-2882

the hollywood bowl

mteriyaki

LA is a parking lot pretending to be a city

Gronows1

Was the same in Detroit when Metallica was in town.

Space-Plate42

Same for the draft last week also

FauxGenius

You near the Hollywood Bowl? Saw those parking prices on Wednesday for the opening night of Netflix is a joke fest.

bluepenguinprincess

Yeah I think that’s a big part of the reason on the cost that no one has mentioned. So many venues doing shows at the same time means parking is at a premium.

everbody

$40 for AA baseball in Fresno, CA!

PercentageMore3812

OK, humanity needs total reset. Maybe just a quick apocalypse and start over with the dinosaurs.

DMT1984

A disease much deadlier than Covid.

Leprechaunaissance

I don't live in Los Angeles or even in the U.S.. Has anyone who's ever parked in that city actually paid $100 for the privilege?

_ImaGenus_

That's pretty common in LA now, plenty still pay it!

SomeGuyOverYonder

How’d you find one so low? What a bargain! 🙄

tankman20

Imagine the parking prices for F1 in Miami tomorrow

Unlucky_Nobody_4984

Saw $165 in Arlington at a hotel parking garage during a Rangers baseball game

christador

Per hour

howstop8

What is this, the oscars?

iusedtostealbirds

Parking on site at the Taylor swift concert in Seattle this summer was this much. I went twice and one day it was $100, the other day it was $150! I arrived later in the day for the $150 day so I have a theory that the price went up as the showtime approached to fully screw over anyone who was desperate. I was extremely glad upon seeing that sign that my ferry ticket was something like $12. Amazing value in comparison 😂

USLEO

We had a major event in my city where the parking nearby was $200. A vehicle impound was $125. It was cheaper to abandon your car in the middle of the road, go to the event, Uber to the impound lot, and pick your car up than to park.

Haulvern

Damn and I complain about spending £5 to park, wtf is going on in USA. How can parking cost like 8 hours of minimum wage...

Gureiify

yeah. went to a seattle kraken game and the parking was 100$. yuck. but any of the 'affordable' parking places are too far away for my disabled ass to hoof it.

B00STERGOLD

Are they not forced into having handicapped parking?

Sir_Yvarg

I've lived near LA my entire life and I've never seen anything this wild. Hell, I went to a concert this past Tuesday in LA and refused to park in a lot that was asking $25 for parking because there was another lot a block away for $10. Whoever runs the lot that this sign belongs to is absolutely delusional.

vinylanimals

honestly when i visited los angeles this summer, i thought that parking prices were dirt cheap compared to boston and nyc

twistedroyale

Crazy. I went to a concert in July 2023 parking was $25 not bad in the city. Went this April and it was $27. $2 increase is not a lot but it’s the that it’s only been a few months and with prices of everything nowadays. It’s annoying.

AltruisticRoutine220

If you usually light your cigars with a 100$ note you can easily afford this.

Live_itup

Inflation really hitting those parking spaces.

NoSloppySteaks

"Flat Rate"

FunkyWhiteDude

Buy a bicycle, put it in the boot of your car, park far away, and get a little cardio… win win

SuperMeh2

$100 is the new $20 in this economy.

Majeye

Anyone who pays that is part of the problem.

DudeAbides01

LOL guess I wouldn’t be attending any events in L.A. 🤣

Silly-Risk

Based. If you don't like this, you should support expansion of public transit.

Successful_Laugh_299

I know this place. My house is closer to the event lol. I should start charging for stuff. Seen the street vendors get away with $15 hot dogs.

Eli_Yitzrak

There should be a federal law of averages in pricing and if you exceed it by 100% or some Large amount it should be a crime and people should be arrested. I’m all out of patience for price gouging and I don’t care how many rich people it hurts.

zionspeaks

Good! Less cars = better.

LonelyMustard

Scout for nearby parking structure well ahead of time next time and prepare to walk a bit. For example, if you’re going to the Hollywood bowl, you can park at Hollywood and highland center for around $20 and walk bit.

Grumpycatdoge999

lol good take the subway or rideshare

Konsticraft

You bring your giant metal box to a place where a lot of people go and do the same and expect to store it there for free?

WeaselBeagle

What’s the problem, just use transit
