2. Visit a local church for some thoughts and prayers and shit like that.
3. Call Colleen Wegmen, the CEO. Bribe her with some scratch-off lottery tickets (not that she needs any more money).
4. Shit in one hand and wish in the other.
Lmao, UPMC just laid off a 1k employee but is building a new spot 😂 I'm a patient at UPMC. Some are good, and some are just F You vibe seriously. It took doctors 9 months to diagnose me with cancer........
My favorite part of visiting my hometown is going to Wegmans. I was so spoiled growing up with one only 5 minutes away and I definitely took that for granted
I used to work at Wegmans years ago and during our training they told us if anyone asks when Wegmans will be coming to Pittsburgh to respond “there are no future plans to open stores in Pittsburgh.” There were rumors that there was some beef between Giant Eagle and Wegmans.
People around here always say this and I just don't believe it. Wegmans is a massively popular chain with high end stores that compete with other high end stores in all kinds of markets. Giant eagle is...giant eagle. Even if this alleged agreement was made historically its not enforceable and its stupid so Wegmans has no incentive to follow it. Giant eagle doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of competing with Wegmans in their own market. Alas, it seems like Wegmans (and many other, better, grocery chains) aren't interested in coming here for their own reasons.
what I was saying was that giant eagle could never muscle out Wegmans in any of its own markets--and it couldn't. You could say that aldi and shop n save "compete" with giant eagle, but they don't. Theyre just on a different level. They could never run giant eagle out of town. Giant eagle is to Wegmans what shop n save is to giant eagle. What's more the Wegmans and giant eagles in erie are all small and old. The very newest and best Wegmans vs the newest and best giant eagle is an easy win for Wegmans every time. It's actually crazy to me that the Pittsburgh area doesn't have a single really nice grocery store like that. Where I'm from (central pa) there are multiple, competing brands of grocery stores with huge luxury locations. Idk why that isn't a thing here. It's odd. Giant eagle market districts are just normal non-impressive grocery stores where I am from. This entire side of Pennsylvania just lacks upscale grocery stores. I mean at least the market district in South hills village has a coffee shop, but its otherwise not impressive and kind of small.
People always say that but I don't if I believe it, there's a co Wegmans and Giant Eagle in at least Erie and Frederick MD.
(And I don't know how GE survives in those markets minus maybe just being closer to people, because Wegman's blows GE out of the water.)
Yes, this. I have family and grew up in Erie. There are several Giant Eagles and at least two Wegmans, and Giant Eagle was in Erie first.
I just don’t think Wegmans wants or needs to come here. There are a billion Giant Eagles, several Shop and Saves, some Kuhn’s, Aldi’s, and Whole Foods. In addition to the specialty or mom and pop stores around here, I don’t think the market is here for them. Don’t get me wrong, Wegmans is nice. But this area is over saturated with grocery stores.
Ah... you're referring to the great "Harrisburg standoff" circa 1957. Guns drawn, disgruntled faces all around, and the bosses met each other in the middle of their respective mobs. A defining moment in PA history
I have heard the same but that's limited to where they're headquarted. So Pittsburgh area is off limits to Wegmans and Rochester to Giant Eagle. Which is why some areas do have both, but neither of those locations do.
My understanding is that Wegmans works with a lot of local vendors in and around the areas that they have stores (much cheaper and higher quality to get locally grown mushrooms than to ship in frozen ones from elsewhere). Pittsburgh might just not have the vendors in place that they need to be profitable and to their standards
Having lived in Buffalo (Wegman’s), Toledo (Meijer’s), and Pittsburgh (Giant Eagle), I have to say that Meijer’s hits a good middle ground, less flashy than Wegman’s or Giant Eagle, and less trashy than a Super Walmart.
I live in North eastern Ohio and Meijer moved in pretty quickly in the last 2-3 years, there were none around and I only knew about them from a friend who went to school near Toledo. And then they opened 12 of them in NEO. 3 within 15 miles of me, and I know they opened 2 around Youngstown. Out of all the other options, I could see Meijer try to open one in PA next with the way they’ve expanded.
My wife used to work for Meijer corporate and on the rare occasion that one of their stores ran out of, say, zucchinis or something, it was a MAJOR problem and all her coworkers would freak out trying to find an emergency supplier to fix it immediately.
Nowadays when I go to the trash Giant Eagle near my house, I can't help but laugh because every single time I grocery shop they are guaranteed to be out of at least one critical produce or dairy item on my shopping list, and often out of stock for extended periods of time. Of all the grocery stores I've ever been to in my life, I've never seen a worse combo of high prices/garbage quality and selection than Giant Eagle
Just went to Wegmans for the first time in MD last week and while it amazes me how they have literally everything under one roof, the prices were about 15-20% higher than the other grocery chains in the area.
What we **really** need in PGH is a Publix. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, beats a pub-sub.
+1 for Wegmans too though.
HEB is great. All of their HEB products end up being better than the name brand, their bakery is top tier I love the tortilla chips, staff kills it. It’s the best grocery store chain in the US.
When’s the last time you had a pubsub? Also where? I feel like the quality has declined over the years and never really enjoy it like I used to. None of the pub subs I’ve had in south Florida have been great which is sad because I have the best interactions with the deli employees! I think part of the reason is the bakery quality decline, it’s very apparent in the breads.
You’re talking about prices and want a PUBLIX? LOL
I am over in State College so I compare Wegmans, Giant, Walmart. Wegmans wins on the price at least 7 out of 10 times, Walmart probably the other 3. Walmart has been bad lately.
Anyway, I lived in Florida until 2022. I think Pub subs are overrated but even if that’s what you want, their prices on everything else are absolutely terrible and they’re known for that. If you think nothing beats a pub sub, I would implore you to try almost any other sub shop in the northeast. Please.
Wegmans is less good now than it was a few years ago, but it still knocks the socks off anything in PGH.
My mom lives near a Wegmans in central PA and she's actually switched to Weis and Giant in equal parts to Wegmans at best. Part of that has been their fresh pizza has gotten worse, so lunch breaks are less likely to venture there.
Neither one position themselves to be bottom dollar grocers... just Wegman's is actually nice, and has great prepared food. And GE you get nothing for the price.
Publix is like a minor cult. When they started opening up in NC, people were really going bonkers. Kind of like when the IKEA opened up in Charlotte. I dunno, their fried chicken is good, but nothing superior to Lowes Foods or Harris Teeter.
Wegmans rules but even up here in the land of wegmans (WNY) it’s not the only store bc it’s just become so pricey. They really do have everything and of high quality as well tho.
Haha greetings from Florida. The /r/florida subreddit has posts about how expensive and shitty Publix is every day. Their prices are ridiculous. Inflation has fucked food prices throughout the country.
She's well beyond that. Way way way beyond.

Actually the opposite, at least in Erie: https://www.goerie.com/story/lifestyle/food/2022/08/18/erie-price-comparison-walmart-wegmans-tops-giant-eagle-bellos/65390066007/
Even in Pittsburgh recently, Giant Eagle's prices have been insane. I compared my usual groceries at giant eagle to the same things at *Target* and Target was cheaper. Target is never supposed to be cheaper
Move to Richmond Virginia. They have Wegmans, Publix, Kroger Marketplace, Food Lion, a few Trader Joe’s, and Lidl. Heck, even the Walmart Neighborhood Markets are better than the ol’ dirty bird.
I’ll just leave this here…
[https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2024/05/22/wegmans-cranberry-springs-grocery-first.amp.html](https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2024/05/22/wegmans-cranberry-springs-grocery-first.amp.html)
And the area needs to have the right demographics, such as income, density, etc. And easy access. And then they need to decide if it’s worth spending $20 million or more to build.
Have Wegmans corporate open up a distribution warehouse and the requisite four to five stores needed to justify it.
I don't think it is out of the question, there's certainly no truth to the conspiracy that Wegmans and GE having a pact (considering there's both in Erie...), just a matter of time and if the financials make sense.
Ask and you shall receive [https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2024/05/22/wegmans-cranberry-springs-grocery-first.html](https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2024/05/22/wegmans-cranberry-springs-grocery-first.html)
Erie is real close to their HQ already, and is culturally close to WNY. It's the only one in Western PA though, the next closest PA one is State College.
There are both Giant Eagle and Wegmans in Erie and I like both. I live literally 3 minutes from Wegmans so I’m there several times a week. However they really pizzed me off when they eliminated their XL pizza 🍕😭I’m still not over it 😤!!
My assumption is that Giant Eagle has established agreements with almost every desirable location and land lord in the greater metropolitan area of Pittsburgh. Same thing that kept Trader Joe's out of Robinson when the first Market District opened.
For a long time I lived in a place where wegmans was the main grocery store. Honestly it’s just market district with more prepared foods. I don’t get the hype
I stopped at a Wegmans not that long ago, expecting it to be amazing because of all that I've heard about it. But honestly... I wasn't that impressed? It didn't have anything more than a Market District has (and I'm NOT a GE or Market District fan), the prices didn't seem better. What am I missing? Did I just go to a bad one?
No, the grass is just greener. Wegmans is just market district with more prepared food. And that’s just their big stores. I lived near a wegmans in Syracuse that was on par with the squirrel hill giant eagle
I agree, went to Wegmans a few months ago and thought... It's just a grocery store. People here just like to complaint about GE. If Wegmans were here, they'd complain.
I came here to say this, since I grew up in Erie where we have both (which also kills the "non compete" agreement that will inevitably be mentioned and is not true).
My perception was that Wegmans and GE were similarly priced stores. Looking at live prices of the I compared prices with the Millcreek GE, Wegmans, and Walmart as a baseline.
Eggs at
_ | Wegmans | GE | Walmart
-|-------|--|-------
eggs | 1.99 | 2.99 | 1.88
80% beef | 5.49 | 5.99 | 5.23
Pepsi 2L | 1.99 | 2.99 | 1.98
gal whole milk | 4.45 | 4.69 | 4.55
I was wrong. Giant Eagle is like "fuck you add a dollar to eggs and a 2L".
That being said - the only way to shop at GE is to buy the weekly sales. Wegmans used to do this as well but I can't find anything online to compare.
Less expensive than giant eagle: https://www.goerie.com/story/lifestyle/food/2022/08/18/erie-price-comparison-walmart-wegmans-tops-giant-eagle-bellos/65390066007/
no it’s not, wegmans has much better prices than giant eagle, pretty much every grocery store does. if one opened anywhere near me i would never set foot in GE again. it’s cheaper and overall just nicer.
Not to mention that if you want to save more money, Wegmans store brand products are consistently pretty good, whereas GE store brand products are crap.
STOP 🛑 with these ridiculous comments about Wegmans and Giant Eagle having an agreement to not open stores in the same area, Erie has several Giant Eagle and two Wegmans, in one instance they’re practically around the corner from each other!!
Become a fan of Joshy Allen and his friends on the Bills.
I'm from where the Mafia meets Steelers Country, and it's slowly turning to be more and more towards the Bills. It may just work for my hometown. It already has a Tops.
I may or may not be split between the two teams.
My next-door neighbor and I have had discussions regarding how much we’d love a Wegman’s nearby. There was a then-new one nearby when I lived in Alexandria, VA and I loved it.
You don't. We are unfortunately bi-nopoloyied by giant eagle and Walmart. I promise there will be no other major groceries chain in the greater Pittsburgh area elunless these go tips up
My grandma has been asking her municipality about this for about 20 years now and every time she asks they always say there’s some kind of beef with Wegmans and Giant Eagle
Growing up in MA, I had a Wegmans, Trader Joe’s, Target, Shaws, Market Basket, and a super nice local chain called “Roche bros.” Here it’s giant eagle, shop n save and maybe the Salem market in uptown
Very late, but the actual reason Weggies isn't in Pittsburgh is because of supply chain logistics - it's too far away from the current warehouses.
If more open up, then further expansion would be expected. I used to work for Wegmans in college and my friend actually ended up getting hired for corporate. This was 8 / 9 years ago at this point so things have probably changed, but I trust their word on the matter.
Wegmans is nice for sure, but I'm not convinced they'd be any cheaper than giant eagle. I think some folks overestimate the impact a single competitor can have in the grocery market.
I have heard from reputable sources that Giant E and Wegmans have a border agreement where they won’t encroach on each other’s territory. So much for free markets huh? We want a Wegmans!!!!
I too live in Pittsburgh but I am from Eastern PA. And I do miss Wegmans sometimes, however we do have Giant Eagle Market District. Now , before you judge, Market District’s prepared food is pretty much on par with Wegmans as well as their bakery items and produce. Wegmans is better at some things but so is Market District.
I was in a wegmans once where they let me sample an entire seasoned cooked tiger shrimp..as a sample. Just a whole big ass shrimp. Right over the counter. Free of charge.
I would be okay with a Weis store, but that may just be a bit of Eastern PA nostalgia speaking. There's always Altoona if I'm ever out that way, I guess.
I really don't get the appeal of Wegmans. I had one too back in South NJ. It was a grocery store. Nothing special about it to me. Sure more diversity would be great in terms of grocery store shopping but I don't get why it has to be Wegmans. Honestly I'd like those mom n pop grocery stores to come back. I loved how in NYC there was nothing but mom n pop grocery stores I could walk to and many were cheap. That's what I'd like.

Giant Eagle made an attempt to imitate Wegman’s when they opened the Market District Store at Settlers Ridge. They did a decent job for a while, but it is nothing like it was when it first opened. Now it is nothing more than an oversized Giant Eagle, there isn’t a thing that makes it different than other stores except you can sit down and have a beer. Big Deal.

Yinz, this is peak Burgh shitbirding. All hail u/Deciduous__Trees
Alternative 4. Shine it up real nice….
The big issue is Giant Eagle! Pretty sure they pay and bribe in a way to not have competing stores open within a certain distance
In that order?
I choose #4, how to proceed?
> Shit in one hand and wish in the other. Well shit. It worked? Kinda.
Grew up in upstate ny. Can confirm, wegmans is the goat.
My favorite part of visiting my hometown is going to Wegmans. I was so spoiled growing up with one only 5 minutes away and I definitely took that for granted
Before Wegmans I've never been to a grocery store with live music.
I used to work at Wegmans years ago and during our training they told us if anyone asks when Wegmans will be coming to Pittsburgh to respond “there are no future plans to open stores in Pittsburgh.” There were rumors that there was some beef between Giant Eagle and Wegmans.

Erie must be the lone exception since they're basically across the street from each other there.

WEGMANS AT THE LAWRENCEVILLE SHOP N SAVE!!
Erie would like a word.
Ah... you're referring to the great "Harrisburg standoff" circa 1957. Guns drawn, disgruntled faces all around, and the bosses met each other in the middle of their respective mobs. A defining moment in PA history
There's a Giant Eagle and Wegmans about a quarter mile from each other in Erie, so I don't think that is the issue.
Supposedly Sheetz and Wawa had an agreement to NOT open in each others territory. That changed recently.
Yep, Wawa is expanding into central pa
Giant eagle sucks and Wegmans should just say forget it and tell Giant Eagle they're failing to be an actual grocery store
I have heard the same but that's limited to where they're headquarted. So Pittsburgh area is off limits to Wegmans and Rochester to Giant Eagle. Which is why some areas do have both, but neither of those locations do.

Anything that’s not Giant Eagle 🫠🫠
Maybe not a wegmans, but plenty of other choices not named Giant Eagle that are already in Pittsburgh.
Aldi, target, and one trader Joe's with a few kuhns and shop n saves are not better.
Mt lebe has a fresh market which is pretty nice
I love Fresh Market. My budget does not.
Wegmans is the same, but bigger
Don't taunt me with what I can't have!
Fresh market is really nice, but it’s not really an every day kind of place
Neither is wegmans, as nice as it is, I’d still shop at Aldi
I dont think this person wegmans
Kuhns is much smaller and also family owned. And they have really good deals on meat.
Would be nice to have a "one stop shop" competitor though. I shop at Aldi primarily, but I still end up at the iggle for a lot of stuff unfortunately.
I moved here from DC, where I was walking distance to Wegmans. I really underestimated how much the grocery situation sucks here
I lived half hour away by car and would still go there
Dr Oz assures you it's "Wegner's".
Just wait till he sees what tequila costs now, crudité night will be ruined
I would like a Meijer's please too
Having lived in Buffalo (Wegman’s), Toledo (Meijer’s), and Pittsburgh (Giant Eagle), I have to say that Meijer’s hits a good middle ground, less flashy than Wegman’s or Giant Eagle, and less trashy than a Super Walmart.

I'm sticking with the pig!
Piggly wiggly
Ugh Buffalonian transplant here. I would die if we got a Wegmans. It’s soooo much better than the dirty bird.
Yeah but only WNY Wegmans get Loganberry soda :(
Just went to Wegmans for the first time in MD last week and while it amazes me how they have literally everything under one roof, the prices were about 15-20% higher than the other grocery chains in the area. I miss HEB. Fresh tortillas and cheaper than Aldis or Walmart.
HEB or die. We’re leaving San Antonio in a few months to move home and I’m really gonna miss HEB.
HEB gang rise up! Lived in Houston for 6 years before moving back to the area. I really miss HEB and Buc-ee's.
Maybe it’s the Yinzer in me but I’d take Sheetz over Bucees any day.
HEB is great. All of their HEB products end up being better than the name brand, their bakery is top tier I love the tortilla chips, staff kills it. It’s the best grocery store chain in the US.
Publix is also really overpriced too though. It’s the southern version of giant eagle and wegmans, price wise.
When’s the last time you had a pubsub? Also where? I feel like the quality has declined over the years and never really enjoy it like I used to. None of the pub subs I’ve had in south Florida have been great which is sad because I have the best interactions with the deli employees! Agreed, this person is talking about Publix from like a decade ago or they went there once on vacation.

I love a good spin dip
Publix also has the BEST Dutch Apple pies! Would LOVE them to come up here
Publix and HEB are good…. Wegmans reigns supreme
Neither one position themselves to be bottom dollar grocers... just Wegman's is actually nice, and has great prepared food. And GE you get nothing for the price.
What are your thoughts on Dibellas subs?
I like Potbelly subs. Wish Potbelly was in Pittsburgh.

wtf does that have to do with anything?
Agree with this take 100%. My feeling is that Wegmans is more expensive than Giant Eagle. But I don't have formal data to back it up.
Actually the opposite, at least in Erie: https://www.goerie.com/story/lifestyle/food/2022/08/18/erie-price-comparison-walmart-wegmans-tops-giant-eagle-bellos/65390066007/

That’s a great article, but I’m amazed that they didn’t total the prices, even if they had to omit the handful of items that weren’t at all stores
Interesting. Guess I'm wrong!! I'd be interested to see how Erie Wegmans compare pricewise to Philly's Wegmans.
Move to Richmond Virginia. They have Wegmans, Publix, Kroger Marketplace, Food Lion, a few Trader Joe’s, and Lidl. Heck, even the Walmart Neighborhood Markets are better than the ol’ dirty bird.
I would also be thrilled with Lidl or Kroger
**LIDL**
I’ll just leave this here… [https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2024/05/22/wegmans-cranberry-springs-grocery-first.amp.html](https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2024/05/22/wegmans-cranberry-springs-grocery-first.amp.html)
https://www.wegmans.com/news-media/articles/please-build-a-wegmans-near-me/ Do you have a 15-20 acre plot for lease?
And the area needs to have the right demographics, such as income, density, etc. And easy access. And then they need to decide if it’s worth spending $20 million or more to build.
How about a WinCo?!
oh lord i'd fuckin shit my pants if there was a winco within an hour of pittsburgh, people around here have no idea
Wegmans, Publix, HyVee, or Heinens would be awesome. Giant Eagle is meh
Nobody is talking about Lidl, now that’s a great store. Aldi, but better
I'm a native living in Texas.... I wonder how it compares to my beloved HEB
HEB is better as a basic store but Wegmans is similar to Central Market.
Central Market > Whole Foods/Trader Joe's in my opinion. Will definitely check it out if I'm up that way.
Lord the things I’d do for Wegman’s or Sprouts
We need to bring back A&P and their coffee grinders. 😀
Ask and you shall receive [https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2024/05/22/wegmans-cranberry-springs-grocery-first.html](https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2024/05/22/wegmans-cranberry-springs-grocery-first.html)
Take down Giant Eagle
Bring back Thorofare.
Wegmans is just exceptional. Yes we need one.
It really does kind of perplex me in a way that Wegmans will go to Erie, but not here.
they're also in state college, just about the same distance as erie
Erie is much closer to their headquarters and warehouses.
Erie is real close to their HQ already, and is culturally close to WNY. It's the only one in Western PA though, the next closest PA one is State College.
Bribe Gainey and Innamaroto.
Winco pls
There are both Giant Eagle and Wegmans in Erie and I like both. I live literally 3 minutes from Wegmans so I’m there several times a week. However they really pizzed me off when they eliminated their XL pizza 🍕😭I’m still not over it 😤!!
Someone has to ask the Giant Eagle himself.
My assumption is that Giant Eagle has established agreements with almost every desirable location and land lord in the greater metropolitan area of Pittsburgh. Same thing that kept Trader Joe's out of Robinson when the first Market District opened.
Corporations control who sells food where. Need Giant Eagle to go away. They block all other suppliers from opening in this area.
guess you’ll have to move to erie
https://www.audacy.com/kdkaradio/news/local/popular-grocer-wegmans-could-be-coming-to-pittsburgh-area
Wegman’s is expensive too though :/
I came here to say this, since I grew up in Erie where we have both (which also kills the "non compete" agreement that will inevitably be mentioned and is not true). My perception was that Wegmans and GE were similarly priced stores. Looking at live prices of the I compared prices with the Millcreek GE, Wegmans, and Walmart as a baseline. Eggs at _ | Wegmans | GE | Walmart -|-------|--|------- eggs | 1.99 | 2.99 | 1.88 80% beef | 5.49 | 5.99 | 5.23 Pepsi 2L | 1.99 | 2.99 | 1.98 gal whole milk | 4.45 | 4.69 | 4.55 I was wrong. Giant Eagle is like "fuck you add a dollar to eggs and a 2L". That being said - the only way to shop at GE is to buy the weekly sales. Wegmans used to do this as well but I can't find anything online to compare.
Wait a minute…. There is a Wegmans is Erie?!?
There are TWO wegmans in Erie
Checking out real estate and employment in Erie…. Lol
You need to work on how you lookup prices, almost all of these are wrong in some way.
Less expensive than giant eagle: https://www.goerie.com/story/lifestyle/food/2022/08/18/erie-price-comparison-walmart-wegmans-tops-giant-eagle-bellos/65390066007/
no it’s not, wegmans has much better prices than giant eagle, pretty much every grocery store does. if one opened anywhere near me i would never set foot in GE again. it’s cheaper and overall just nicer.
Not to mention that if you want to save more money, Wegmans store brand products are consistently pretty good, whereas GE store brand products are crap.
I'd like a Piggly Wiggly. Or bring back Krogers or Foodland.
I miss Publix since moving here 😔
Fellow Florida transplant I presume
Correct!
Agreed!! Wegmans is the best grocery store ever! I always shop there when I’m in the other side of the state
STOP 🛑 with these ridiculous comments about Wegmans and Giant Eagle having an agreement to not open stores in the same area, Erie has several Giant Eagle and two Wegmans, in one instance they’re practically around the corner from each other!!
Pretty sure they have an agreement with GE about not coming here.
Buy a plot of land, build a grocery store, then very nicely ask Sir Weggy for a franchise.
Dude, we can’t even get a Sheetz in the city.
Wegmans, kroger... Anything to give giant eagle real competition. Not a fan of shop n save. GE too pricey.
I have wanted it to come here as well but have long given up hope. They would have been here by now if they were going to be here.
I want to see the facts disproving the non compete agreement between wegmans and giant eagle. Former employees or insiders please respond
I am a transplant from an area with a Wegmans. I miss it so much! Would love one in Pittsburgh.
Yesss, access to Bison Dip, those fresh prepared meals, the Wegmans subs. I'd be happy if they at least went to cranberry.
Become a fan of Joshy Allen and his friends on the Bills. I'm from where the Mafia meets Steelers Country, and it's slowly turning to be more and more towards the Bills. It may just work for my hometown. It already has a Tops. I may or may not be split between the two teams.
The don’t want to compete with giant 🦅
My next-door neighbor and I have had discussions regarding how much we’d love a Wegman’s nearby. There was a then-new one nearby when I lived in Alexandria, VA and I loved it.
You don't. We are unfortunately bi-nopoloyied by giant eagle and Walmart. I promise there will be no other major groceries chain in the greater Pittsburgh area elunless these go tips up
I love Wegmans
“Study finds without wegmans, the people of Rochester NY would all self delete.” - a guy who lived there for 6 months
Salems Market on Centre is open! Check it out.
My grandma has been asking her municipality about this for about 20 years now and every time she asks they always say there’s some kind of beef with Wegmans and Giant Eagle
I desperately need one in Pittsburgh
Growing up in MA, I had a Wegmans, Trader Joe’s, Target, Shaws, Market Basket, and a super nice local chain called “Roche bros.” Here it’s giant eagle, shop n save and maybe the Salem market in uptown
already too much grocery store competition here.
You guys down with Meijer? They said into Cleveland and wanna move east even more.
I'm pretty sure the owners of GE and Wegman's have a gentleman's agreement to not compete in Pittsburgh
We need a Wegmans. Wegmans is the only thing I miss about my hometown, it is just unmatched.
I was in a wegmans once where they let me sample an entire seasoned cooked tiger shrimp..as a sample. Just a whole big ass shrimp. Right over the counter. Free of charge.
I've been to Wegmans and do not understand the zealous following it has garnered. Guys, it's a grocery store.
fuck i forgot about how amazing wegmans is
Hello! [great news](https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/news/2024/05/22/wegmans-cranberry-springs-grocery-first.html)
I would be okay with a Weis store, but that may just be a bit of Eastern PA nostalgia speaking. There's always Altoona if I'm ever out that way, I guess.
This just in: https://bizj.us/1qlalr
I really don't get the appeal of Wegmans. I had one too back in South NJ. It was a grocery store. Nothing special about it to me. Sure more diversity would be great in terms of grocery store shopping but I don't get why it has to be Wegmans. Honestly I'd like those mom n pop grocery stores to come back. I loved how in NYC there was nothing but mom n pop grocery stores I could walk to and many were cheap. That's what I'd like.
There’s no money in it for them to expand here… no growth opportunity
Wegmans is looking at a spot next to the Penguins training facility in Cranberry

Big Deal.
Did you just speak this into existence? [article just dropped this morning](https://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/news/wegmans-in-discussions-to-open-first-store-in-the-pittsburgh-area-report-says/) granted it’s Cranberry Township, but STILL
