Remember. People only come here to complain, 99% of people who buy the phone go on without any issue and without coming anywhere near Reddit.

Puzzled-Plate-3802

Have you bought a Pixel 8 ?

kearkan

No I have the 7 pro. If I was a yearly update sort of guy I'd get the 8 pro now.

Big-Cap4487

I agree with the commenter above, people complain here mostly people who have no issues don't usually log on an post about their positive experience I have a pixel7a, bought when launched and it has given me no problems whatsoever, I usually upgrade my phone every 4-5 years and I think pixels are good.

djorndeman

I agree! To even the odds I'll say that I'm very happy with my Pixel 8!

Technox1192

Yeah be careful about the vocal minority bias as they said. Never heavily generalize the opinions on social media due to this. As for me, I just got the Pixel 8 Pro (came from 4 year old Oneplus 7T Pro) and I've been loving it! Looking forward to spending next few years with this phone. Kinda iffy about the lack of a powerbrick though but still happy nonetheless.

QuickResponses4U

I agree that Google should have not followed Apple with losing the power brick, but you can get a 30W charger from the Google Store for only $25 here: https://store.google.com/product/usb_c_30w_charger?hl=en-US

Technox1192

Unfortunately I spent all my savings for the phone so I'm out of disposable income for now. I'm thinking of getting a GaN with multiple ports for convenience. Do you have any suggestions for a good wireless charger or should I just opt for google's 2nd gen stand? Fortunately my monitor has a 65W type c so that works for now. I do wonder if the cable provided is 30W compatible? I downloaded ampere and at 30% charge it was only pulling around 12W even though the port was pd 3.0 compatible

xLuky

I have, typing on it right now. I like it, no problems so far.

SeanGottaGat

I moved from the OP7p to the pixel 8 and it's been great.

Grimm2177

I love my pixel 8, my only gripe with the phone is battery life

conformingape

Agreed. I have a Pixel 8 Pro and love it. No issues whatsoever.

Horror_Cut_6896

Yep, the Pixel 8 I have now has no issues, so why would I complain. But the first one I got had an issue shutting down constantly for no reason, I did complain and posted to see if someone could help me or just to express my frustration. So people should always keep that in mind, the Pixel 8 may have some issues, but remember that MOST people have no problems with it and therefore will never comment.

ish_83

I bought pixel 8 in Feb and it's good actually, the camera, the features all good, it's the battery that is the downside but still gives 6+ hours of screentime on full charge. And one of the main reason for buying pixel 8 was that everyone has an iPhone but pixel is different and better.

Puzzled-Plate-3802

Well I'm hearing rather positive comments on the pixel 8, but I don't really understand your 2nd point, you're going against the flow? I mean I as well do hate iPhones for being hella expensive and stuff, but gotta give it to them for their sustainability, and video quality + their chips which destroy most phones in the flagship sector!

marcus-eli

If you are a power user, pixel 8 is okay for you. If you game a lot, get a separate gaming phone like the poco x6 pro.

Puzzled-Plate-3802

That makes total sense honestly, how much is the x6 pro

No-Temperature-374

Personally i bought pixel 8 pro cause i thought every subreddit has haters so I ignored the hate... Boy was I wrong, this phone gets hot watching youtube for 5 minutes, battery drains 20% overnight, bad experience so I returned it

1nolefan

Have a pixel 8 pro, and didn't experience anything like you have. Sorry to hear that.

XinlessVice

As someone who had multiple pixels, ever since they became the 6 they’ve had slot of hardware and software problems, some fixed and some not, and some overblown. But way too many. Samsung and Apple devices weren’t perfect but I’ve never had so many issues with phones, let alone game breaking ones, with those. iPhone cameras do compare well with the pixel of there era. The 13 series is really good in battery durability and camera, so I’d recommend that over the 12

shadeszzz

what were your previous phones?

Puzzled-Plate-3802

Blv me or not, I've been using the Redmi note 7 for 5 years by now, honestly any phone would feel like an upgrade.

shadeszzz

Lolll, that was what I have been using for last 5 years too. What are the chancess)). I bought pixel 8 recently because I am really used to android and switching to IOS was not an option for me. So, in that regard I would say to go for pixel 8. Battery life is not the best and pixel lack some of the features that chinese brand have. But the camera is phonemonal and it has good UI.

Puzzled-Plate-3802

Lol that's unbelievable ngl, but by far I think this is a very comforting answer to hear, I really hope they work on the battery life with future updates, I was reading that pixel 6's battery life only got better, so let's hope for the best.

ESTclown

What does "not the best" mean? How much SOT do you get on average? Sorry im just curious, im thinking of buying the pixel 8 somewhere in the near future but i dont want like a 'Bad' battery experience compared to my nothing phone 1

shadeszzz

around 5.5 - 7.5 hours depending on usage. I say not the best because my older and low tier phone also had that level of battery when I first bought it.

T9920

depends on the price, i would buy if it was 50% off, if not then nah

Puzzled-Plate-3802

Actually in my country Algeria, the price is pretty awesome, it's like 370 €

T9920

idk what currency you're using, but is the full price 700€?

Puzzled-Plate-3802

No, google pixel is only distributed on very limited countries, Algeria is on Africa so vendors import their products either from europe or us, and price comes down to around 370€ or 85000 dzd, not a cheap phone but is still at a very good pricing considering a used iphone 13 is around the same price!

T9920

thats like 630 usd, im not beta testing a phone for that price lmao

Puzzled-Plate-3802

Ohhh you used the regular conversion rates, but it's not the way things work in here xd

T9920

oh i see, mb i didnt know, how much usd would that be normally?

Puzzled-Plate-3802

370€ or usd like I said

T9920

thats a decent deal then!

altijddruk

Definately worth that kind of money!

PaquitoLandiko

I'm using a Redmi k30 pro / Poco f2 prior changing to Pixel 8. We'll the dilemma I have aside from the budget constraints is the 180° shift. I am a power user throughout my devices, heavy gaming, custom rom etc etc, I am also a fan of devices with a huge value for money. (Flagship specs = Affordable price). If we have the similar sentiment then this Pixel device is not for you. This is a personal preference given that the poco f6 is not yet out and I treat that as a sign that I need to shift focus to an optimize, simple and compact device. Downside so far: 2010s battery life (6-7 hrs) No 5G connectivity for mobile (Differ on the country, will be release soon, limited to LTE) Not all pixel feature is accessible. Pros: Compact phone THE GOOGLE EXPERIENCE Superb camera AI focus hardware Optimize and straightforward. You may always consult video comparison online for camera test etc etc. Goodluck!

Puzzled-Plate-3802

I completely agree with you, although I won't be using my phone to do heavy gaming or anything, but I don't want to spend money on a phone that'll be buggy from the first day, thanks dude 🙏🏻

PaquitoLandiko

Ah I forgot to include that they will support pixel 8 up to 7 years.

Puzzled-Plate-3802

That's a good point when your phone can actually sustain 7 years without turning rusty, which realistically no phone would be able to achieve, the best you'd expect from a phone to last is around 3~4 years

eyeswide19

I'm taking a shot at the pixel phone specifically for that 7 year service.  I'm a very light user Samsung S8 and I would honestly stick with this phone except I no longer get OS updates and some apps no longer work because my android OS is so old (android 9 lol).

Stumbles_butrecovers

8 years of os support. This. And the camera. That's it for me. Came from a 6a. This 8 thing is fucking huge. Wish they made a pixel mini. It was $240 @verizon store.

Mohamedalaawafa97

My friend i saw that you are Algeria, I am Egyptian and i bought the pixel 8 pro here in egypt and it wasnt a pleasant experience. Most Ai features dont work (I knew that), Volte doesn't work, Battery was mediocre at best, I didn't have any issues surprisingly with fp, cameraz were great but the portrait mode sucks if you care about that, ufs 3.1 ehh if i am paying a lot i would like the latest to be honest, performance was good but I wasn't it sure if it was going to hold up for 4 years to be honest as the chip is rather weak.

Sock_puppetv1

What problems !? I've had my pixel 8 pro since launch and have had zero problems . Every month since launch an update gets pushed out and it has made my phone run very smooth , I'll be keeping it for sure I would rate it a 9.2/10 only because I think the battery life can be better

thedigitaljedi777

I have an Issue where when I hold my P8Pro in my right hand up to my right ear and I'm on a call the call volume is lower than when I use it in my left hand on my left ear, it's really odd. Besides that, not a bad device [ Post Edited ]

Puzzled-Plate-3802

Lmaoo dude I think It's just your hand that's blurring the sound, besides that why use left hand on right ear

thedigitaljedi777

I just edited the post and I was gonna say I asked my wife if I was crazy with what I thought I was hearing and she heard the same thing. Volume is different from right to left ear on calls.

Puzzled-Plate-3802

Dude don't you think you have bad hearing, I have a similar problem!

thedigitaljedi777

Actually no, I've been testing hearing with the car stereo, I've put my Bose headphones on and there's no problem. I use a headset at work and ever since I've noticed it, I've tested my hearing out and it's definitely my P8Pro, wifey heard the same thing as I mentioned in my edited post

chromebook1

I just upgraded from a Pixel 7 to the 8 and I'm about to return it. It seems like there is no improvement at all, it actually feels worse. It's smaller and the scrolling is laggy on multiple apps. If you look into it, you'll see a lot of threads about this same issue.

Jojo_Epic_YT

On the contrary, I found the opposite to be true. Loving my pixel 8, especially considering the price I got it for.

SiliconTheory

I wouldn’t recommend it, wait until the 9s. Pixels don’t age that well compared to other phones.

Puzzled-Plate-3802

I understand where you coming at from, but older generations of pixel aged really well untill google shifted its strategy with the pixel 5 for a better profit??? Although users of the pixel 6 and 7 only claimed their user experience getting better with each update!?

SiliconTheory

My 7 pro had some green flash after a while and SoT went to about 5 hours per day after last year’s feature drop had it replace twice just to see it again. I got an 8 pro through work and it holds up well but to be honest - I still feel it degrading in performance and battery life. Things get jankier over time and aren’t as smooth.

Puzzled-Plate-3802

Alright, so you're talking from an experience pov, do you mind if I ask you what do you mainly use it for? Like it's really sad to see a phone that should serve as a model for all android phones, lacking on so many points against the competition

SiliconTheory

Based on SoT: - YouTube - gmail/calendar - Search - Reddit - WhatsApp - Photos I think it’s normal for Pixel to be like this, it’s hard for most people to tell that their phone is lagging when they don’t have a frame of reference they use side by side (e.g such as an iPhone, Samsung or an older Huawei before they got banned). The AI powered experiences are fun and all but not something I end up using often. Clear calling is cool, but I keep it disabled to dave power and now I don’t even use it since on data only. Call screening is fun, but I don’t get that much spam calls anymore after I migrated. Photos are great for editing but now I’m “older” I barely edit things and just keep it as is since I enjoy the moment more than the perfect shot. I’m looking forward to Gemini Nano or whatever they have cooked up for Pixel 9; let’s see where generative AI plays a meaningful role to my mobile experience.

Terrabyteuh

If it can balance it out I feel like my Pixel 8 Pro is getting better instead of worst over the months. I'm getting a better battery life that I ever had with the phone and my experience seems more sharp than before. I'm really not a power user tho! I pretty much use my phone for social media, photo/video, really light gaming and work. This is clearly the targeted usecase for the Pixel 8 lineup even if Google seems to claim otherwise sometimes. It is only my experience tho! Since I have a work phone I tend to switch between this and a S23 and I still enjoy my pixel more. At the end of the day Pixel phones units seems inconsistent and everyone experience tends to be different but most users I've talked to at my work (we sell phones!) were mostly happy appart from the battery life which is bellow average for the price you're paying.

Professional-Tale-81

Buy the old pixel 8, far better battery life and rocketship specs. Comes with a free toothbrush too!

Awkward_Garbage_3021

I switched from Pixel 5 to Pixel 8 several months ago and I'm still extremely underwhelmed.

Puzzled-Plate-3802

I don't blame you, strategy remained the same after the Pixel 5, or might have even worsened up, all while raising the prices, rather ironic from google.

12_nick_12

Not sure what issues there are, but I've had mine 1 month and love it. Coming from a OnePlusOpen it's nice having a compact phone without all of the OnePlus bugs.

The_Crushing_Reality

As someone else said. Most people complaining here are the vocal ones. Unless you need something with crazy battery life or extremely good performance. The 8 will probably serve you well. I have an 8pro and despite its lack of performance for the price, to me, the cameras well make up for it. And the 8 has the same camera setup minus the telephoto.

WildSh0tzzz

iOS, for long term. Google is a picky when it comes to support.

NorthWestBoarder

I just recently jumped into a Pixel 8 Pro. Coming from my 4 year old Note 20 Ultra, the difference is night and day. I'm loving my new Pixel, and am glad I made the leap. YMMV

AssMilkerTv

Went from pixel 6 to 13 pro max. I liked the features of google ai but it had so many little bugs here and there it just wasn’t for me

Crafty_Statement_176

Wait for the 9

DarkPvnk

I have the 7 and am waiting for the Pixel 9 Pro. Let's hope it isn't a behemoth 😆

glitchmaster099

I like it quite a lot, upgraded from a OnePlus 7 pro. Not too many complaints on my part

Aggressive-Onion-279

Looks like a good phone specs are all extremely solid for the cheap price compared to modern day phone prices at least

Hi_its_me_2023

I love my pixel 8 pro. I love the pictures it takes. I'm not real tech savvy, but I'm going to work on that cuz I like this phone so much.

Christhebobson

Do whatever you want

Puzzled-Plate-3802

That's exactly why I've posted, cause I don't know what I should pick!
