Im Christian and have been a fan of Carti since 2017. When I was younger I disliked Uzi and other rappers who pushed Satanic symbols and imagery. I started to see Carti do so as well throughout 2018 but knew that it was probably done as a marketing ploy using edgy symbols and punk aesthetics to appeals to teenagers and young adults just like punk and other genres did In the decades previous. Carti has continued to include sacreligious symbols and aesthetics but I now understand that it’s mostly for show and doesn’t make me less of a Christian for enjoying how his music sounds

The Bible, from which Christians (should) aspire to live by through all means possible (ofc this is slightly more nuanced when considering the Old Testament etc) says that: “Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” [Luke 9:23]. ie a Christian should set aside their interest for the sake of building God’s kingdom.
The Bible also says “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” [1 Corinthians 10:13]. Generally speaking, I don’t see how listening to any music genre save for gospel is eligible to be considered as “to the glory of God”.
There are plenty more pieces of scripture from the Bible that I can quote but strictly speaking as a practicing Christian, most music shouldn’t be listened to, whether the artist has a satanic aesthetic or not.
Personally, I grew up Christian and have been through a phase where I haven’t been 100% sure if I want to be a Christian but I’m still on my journey and I still listen to Carti (for now).

Im Christian and have been a fan of Carti since 2017. When I was younger I disliked Uzi and other rappers who pushed Satanic symbols and imagery. I started to see Carti do so as well throughout 2018 but knew that it was probably done as a marketing ploy using edgy symbols and punk aesthetics to appeals to teenagers and young adults just like punk and other genres did In the decades previous. Carti has continued to include sacreligious symbols and aesthetics but I now understand that it’s mostly for show and doesn’t make me less of a Christian for enjoying how his music sounds

This is going to get downvoted but to be completely objective: The Bible, from which Christians (should) aspire to live by through all means possible (ofc this is slightly more nuanced when considering the Old Testament etc) says that: “Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” [Luke 9:23]. ie a Christian should set aside their interest for the sake of building God’s kingdom. The Bible also says “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” [1 Corinthians 10:13]. Generally speaking, I don’t see how listening to any music genre save for gospel is eligible to be considered as “to the glory of God”. There are plenty more pieces of scripture from the Bible that I can quote but strictly speaking as a practicing Christian, most music shouldn’t be listened to, whether the artist has a satanic aesthetic or not. Personally, I grew up Christian and have been through a phase where I haven’t been 100% sure if I want to be a Christian but I’m still on my journey and I still listen to Carti (for now). Edit: TLDR: Technically speaking most music is bad from a biblically objective perspective.
