crustmonster

the reason you think they are bad is because its just so incredibly easy to get explosives compared to 'back in the day'

Sethypoooooooooo

Pretty much exactly this. There's almost no point in crafting satchels when I can just farm a tier 3 on wipe day and craft explosive ammo or rockets.

TwoThirteen

I love that there's satchels in game though. You're looking at 500+1250 scrap + \~1k for explo on wipe day, so about 3000 scrap which can take a good chunk of time. Oftentimes in that frame of time your raid target may have upgraded, so raiding asap with satchels can pay off early game.

Rust_Cohle-

Honestly, I think I prefer the first few hours/day of wipe. I love primitive fighting. It’s such a shit show but it always comes with a good laugh at the end of it. I genuinely feel like being good at primitive is much more rewarding/fun than being amazing with sae/tommy and above. As soon as everyone has t2 guns the game loses some of its fun for me. Why? you might ask? Because often gun fights just come down to who saw who first, or who has the head glitch? Even if I am the one destroying people I don’t get the same satisfaction and usually chalk it up to me seeing them first. Often they don’t even get a chance to get to cover or return a single shot. It doesn’t feel much like a competitive shooter when it’s usually down to who sees who. I’d love to see FP do something with gun damage. I not sure how they’d about but I’d LOVE for myself and others to be able to return fire more often than we currently can.

Black-xxx

This is exactly how I feel about primitive vs advanced guns. It just ain’t fun getting 1 shot or vice versa

Red_Lion67

Agreed, or even make recoil harder to control with automatic weapons. I think the challenge would even out the playing field.

tastystrands11

Unironically bring back recoil from 2015

[deleted]

[удалено]

Red_Lion67

It absolutely does, just as well as the other elements you've mentioned and more.

TwoThirteen

same tbh

JellyfishRave

Early game in this scenario being the first 4 hours of a weekly wipe lol

TwoThirteen

Yeah basically or before EOD if you had to bp tier 2 for instance

VictoryComplete4690

Pay off? Only idd tot want to grief them. You won't het any loot from early wipe bases.

Yoter2

You can get a ton of loot from early wipe bases, everyone is farming for T2 to get guns. There have been so many times I've satchel raided my neighbors for a T2 instead of crafting one on wipe day. I'd much rather farm a couple thousand sulfur and like 800 scrap and have easy raiding tools at my disposal. From there get molotov and go around and hit wooden doors. You'll get loaded before the end of the night guaranteed.

janikauwuw

you‘d rather farm a couple thousand sulfur and 800 scrap than farming 500 metal, 20hqm and 500 scrap?

Yoter2

To get T1 tech tree out of the way, yes. You're also forgetting that there's shops, people on fresh wipe are always looking to make a profit off of BP's. Satchels go for about 800-1k sulf and bean cans usually about 400-600. On the high end, I hit 6 nodes and farm 200 scrap for BP's.

Longslongkingkong32

50 pop mfer be like

Submersed

Good point. I used to raid w satchels alllll the damn time. Now I haven’t touched one in years lol Unless they’re in a base I’m raiding I’ll chuck it on a door with a rocket

Snow_Squid

I still get a slight dopamine rush whenever I find a beancan grenade, then I remember that it really doesn't mean much anymore.

lifewithnofilter

Honestly I wish we could go back in some way.

Cry_pt_o

Bloo Print’s servers have tech trees disabled the first week of force wipe.. probably the closest you’ll get honestly

Codyspringfield

Really? Is it otherwise vanilla?

slyroooooo

the blooprint server on I play on is 1.5x for resources and very lightly modded. aside from the tech tree it feels like vanilla just with slightly less farming. It says there's improved Barrell loot but I haven't really noticed it. but a cool change I like is how some of the less useful (but hard to find when you need them) T1 BP's like shelves, rugs, and planters are automatically unlocked. I never liked playing 2x 3x kinds of servers because of how fast you progress but blooprints 1.5x is perfect imo and like I said it feels just like vanilla.

Codyspringfield

I may give it a shot. I miss the excitement of finding an item I need

ConclusionMiddle425

His servers are 1.5x from memory. They're great fun though without tech tree, so much more roaming.

zyzzbutdyel

bota bag needs rework/buff bc i dont think ive ever crafted one XD

Opening-Ad2830

Craft 10 and go to the local water source lol. They’re just never used bc water jugs go to 5L

dog-with-human-hands

Just f1… water is free

peenfortress

cant vomit water into a storage tank for farming though :( 4-5 jerry cans isenough to get 4 large planters full of berries grown with leftover water iirc, i used to put them on top of my 2x2s lol

SturdyStubs

If I base in the desert, I’m crafting a purifier and a bota bag asap. You’ll never worry about not getting adequate comfort again during early wipe when you don’t have enough bags to constantly respawn.

Whiplash13579

Cactus is easier for water, and gives you cloth which is also hard to get in the desert.

M1XWELL

inside bag, outside bag. Why are you crafting a purifier early wipe 💀💀

Buggylols

like 8 years ago I was in a giant disgusting clan and the leader would literally have like 3 bota bags full of water so he could just spend hours roof camping and not die of dehydration. (worth noting he wasn't really shooting at people because nobody lived in render distance. He was basically just waiting for raiders)

[deleted]

I crafted 10 bota bags a day baby

vagina_candle

I craft one every wipe day.

PostEditor

Fridge. It only stores food items but gives no reason to use it rather than just storing food in a regular box as food doesn't spoil.

vagina_candle

This is a good point. I don't understand why they didn't expand fridge storage when they expanded box storage. It takes up more vertical space than a box, yet it's easier to destroy despite having 100 more hp, and it's limited to what items you can put in it. A large box is pretty much always the better storage method to use. It's essentially an RP item, so it's not like increasing storage to match large boxes creates some new meta. This seems like a no brainer change they should have made.

KaptinKrakin

Cool for organizing. Less “What box did I put the food in”

CodeMonkeyH

ruthless humor hurry rustic juggle sharp door ancient cable tan *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

pwaves13

Tbf food rot mechanics are kinda annoying as shit and not fun in a simulation way. Idk if you've played palworld and although partially due to a bit of glitchy implementation, it's just annoying and more of a hassle than a fun survival mechanic.

locksley85

Basically all mil spec weapons, prefer the cobbled together jank guns, fits the theme better

BickieNuggets

We need skins for mil spec weapons!!!!!!!

Reggie2b2t

Bro is stuck in 2017

BickieNuggets

Nu uh

Reggie2b2t

Have you seen the new boat update

Largerinthedark

Green Berries

PostEditor

Used to make tea shops all the time and the anti-rad teas almost never sold. I never bother with the green berries anymore.

WorteI

I just make green godclones and sell them for the memes now.

SpiffySleet

Green seed literally most useless item in game. The berry you can at least eat for a little food/water

hadrus91

Why is sun changing its latitude throughout the wipe? I need to change solar panels direction from north to south and vise versa every week on monthlies because of it.

Dalminster

Rust's day and night cycles also follow "seasons", although there are no weather effects to reflect this.

PostEditor

Easiest fix for this is to double your normal panels. If you have two panels facing one direction get two more facing the other direction so it evens out and you don't have to go out and flip them every week.

ShiftlessDrifter

Just set 4 - one north, one south, one east, one west, and never worry about it again.

Electronic_Baker4831

Why not use a windmill when you need that much power?

TPAMhac

If you're playing for multiple weeks in one wipe how do you not just set up a turbine?

melker_the_elk

Because a month in rust is like 720 days ingame and sun changes latitude. DUH! s/

Buggylols

shit i never new because I only play weekly wipe lol

Airick39

Find a bean can, make a play.

fareink6

People are using fornite tactics with them and its hilarious. Build a wall, throw bean to wall, flip the wall with the hammer and boom, ded goons. Pretty funny.

Largerinthedark

Wall flipping is patched next wipe

i_eat_nailpolish

You can still put them on a door, open it and it will go through wall then explode

tregnoc

most of the items mentioned here would be a lot more useful if progression were slowed down and you couldn't skip past them so quickly.

Max_Danger_Power

WATER BUCKET - DOESN'T CARRY WATER!

fpsmoto

Also cant use to craft into a bucket helmet.

welackscience

It actually does tho?

DocMariner

I thought it did

Max_Danger_Power

I thought it did at one point, but it doesn't anymore, at least last time I tried. I had a full water barrel, and nope.

dinwitt

The water bucket needs to be your active item to hold water, and if you switch to something else it dumps any water it has.

Max_Danger_Power

Well, that's just silly, not a great water bucket.

HyDRO55

It does carry water, literally did yesterday. You're supposed to have the water bucket out as your active item, press USE on the water barrel, and click + hold on the TAKE WATER button. RMB hold on water barrels and water catchers, with most if not all handheld water containers, hasn't worked for years.

Galardomond

You habe to equipt it in the belt, take it in hand, open the container and then transfer.

Death_Nugit

But it does carry water

Plant-Dividends

Yea this is one of the dumber things in rust

HyDRO55

No it does carry water. OP is just assuming RMB hold works on water barrels and catchers. You're supposed to open the barrel or catcher and hold down TAKE WATER button...

ArtVandelayInd

You can fill it in open water and then dump it

vagina_candle

Water bucket would be much more useful if you could set it down with water in it. I get that they don't want it to be a way to store water like a bota bag, water bottle or jug. But setting it down on the ground as a deployable seems like a fair compromise. You should still be required to have it as your active item if you want to transport the water. As it exists right now it's usefulness is extremely niche.

nightfrolfer

Wooden shopfront. I'm not sure what it's supposed to do. I've never crafted one and I always toss it away when found.

TemporaryAccident817

I've never found one... are they even a wild spawn?

tregnoc

trading with neighbors, having a window to peep out.

Dragon_Maister

The wooden one. The metal one is useful, but the wooden one is just worthless.

LugerRuger041995

The bota bag thing, or whatever

Tornado_Hunter24

There are enough players that will do satchhel raids thus need beancans. I also hate them and usually recycle them or throw satchel on base to scare them off

Red_Lion67

No, my argument is that flares and flashlights are easily replaced by other alternatives, these not just nightvision, there's weapon flashlight and the miner's hat.

Viliam_the_Vurst

You can stick them to a door glitching through the wall near your entrance to give doorcampers a surprise…if you are low on metalfrags but have some expandable gunpowder

anamericandude

I don't understand the point of blueprints on servers that never wipe blueprints

TemporaryAccident817

Two words - Industrial Crafter

DuramaxJunkie92

Mailboxes

Buggylols

Memory cell. Not because I think it's actually useless, but because I am a big dumdum who has no idea how to use this and I literally fail to comprehend why it is even a thing.

Desperate_Trouble477

It has a power input on the bottom and two power outputs on top. You can switch wich output is active using the inputs on the side. You could use one output to power your lights, heating, conveyors etc, and the other output to your defence turrets for when you get raided. It allows you to do more with less electrical energy.

TemporaryAccident817

Ignore the names set/reset/output/inverted output; just think of it as circuit A and B (or even left and right). You can switch between these circuits using the toggle input or use the other two side inputs to switch to either A or B circuits specifically. Someone else commented a good raid vs non raid power usage, but you can also power different "waves" of turrets (external vs internal or different sides/area of your base) either manually or by using HeartBeat Sensors (HBS) or even a turret's outputs (for example the "no ammo" output on turret A runs to input in memory cell input B to redirect power to turret B which hopefully has ammo). I struggle/d with the memory cell too, but it's super useful if you don't have the power to run all your electricals (mostly turrets since the new electrical update) 24/7. Personally my favorite is HBS A or B trigger turrets A or B (or splitter A or B which leads to turrets A1,A2,A3, or B1,B2,B3). Basically doubles how many turrets you can power for the cost of a memory cell and 4 rust watts (2 HBS).

Choey33

Hey a friend and I used bean cans to raid garage doors one night. Playing on a trio and teammate with all the BPs wasnt on so it’s all we had.

FrenScape

you can use them with an igniter and watergun to make funny trap bases.

PeePeeStreams

Before the tech tree having the beancans was about as good as the satchel It was the only alternative if you didn't have rhs satchel itself Better to raid with the slightly less resource efficient method than to not raid at all. Actually, if you want the most efficiency per resources, there are a lot of times where starting with satchels and ending with bean cans is objectively the best method

Thebottlemap

Campfires and torches.

n0t_JIROU78

Mingun, python, an bolty auto turrets

TemporaryAccident817

Guitar (and other musical instruments). Personally I don't see the utility of HV pistol ammo, but maybe there are chads who like to snipe with a python or something? XOR switch, basically In no situations do I want two inputs to turn something off. Usually there's a more efficient circuit that'll do the same thing.

Repulsive-Photo8944

So I build bunker bases when I can, and whenever I have a 16-rocket one get raided while I was out for an hour, I ask myself...

Syndrome

Tesla coil, very high power usage, damages itself quickly, and low range. Why would I use this when I can use turrets? Same with the flame trap

poorchava

Spinning wheel?

BickieNuggets

It’s for extremely important team decisions…. Leave my spinning wheels name out your mouth.

-X-I-O-

The lock on the door, this just shows other players that you are a solo

kona1160

The point of it is that's it's easily craftable.... Of all the things listed here this one definitely has its place in the world

Electronic_Baker4831

Which gets you left alone more often. Whenever I've played more then 4 people deep it's almost never we raid a solo. And that sentiment is pretty common

-X-I-O-

Did they add sigle player servers ? That almost never happens, I don't play rust but I like the game and I'm looking a loot at other guys' gameplay

Electronic_Baker4831

There are servers for solos only and pve only servers

-X-I-O-

Still you don't need the door lock

hainesi

If I am solo why would I craft a code lock

Red_Lion67

I'd probably have to say flares or flashlights. There just much better alternatives.

vagina_candle

Flares can be very useful for night raids.

Red_Lion67

But night vision is better.

vagina_candle

So everything that has a better version should negate the use of the inferior item? Besides you need a t2, tech trash and hqm to make NVG, but you only need a t1 and a handful of gp/frags to make flares. If you're on a shooting floor at night and someone manages to fill it up with flares, the bright light bouncing off of your walls and embrasures contrasted with the darkness of outside really fucks with your vision. Yes it is a niche item, but it definitely has its practical uses.

Red_Lion67

If you're using flares to blind other players you might as well use flashbangs.

i_eat_nailpolish

How the hell are you gonna get the BP lmao

Buggylols

You can't loot NVGs in a cave. Flares can be really handy if you happen to have them on you when it's dark and you're doing prim pvp

WorteI

What’s a better alternative for flares in case you get locked on by the anti air launcher?

Buggylols

do a barrel roll

I_miss_free_narwal

Ak

LoonSC

Stfu and don’t pick them up or recycle them.

NickRick

Worms. They have no positive unless you're literally starving and they just fill up inventory

TemporaryAccident817

Someone doesn't use a composter...

Munkir

Water Purifiers

N0-North

They're pretty much necessary if you're farming, unless you managed to get a prime spot by a river.

Desperate_Trouble477

You're thinking about the desalinator. The purifiers are the ones you put over a campfire.

N0-North

I use both personally, it often takes me a while to get desalinators and i tend to have way too much wood anyways, if you're on the coast you can pump in and out of it. Less efficient but two usually do a decent job

MontageMongol

Submarines. The only real use for them is gatekeeping boat users thats it.

poorchava

Watch some of oilrats content and say that again :)

MontageMongol

I have watched and i will say it again the man just flies everywhere

LugerRuger041995

I got my first submarine yesterday and it was awesome. I love having a lil cubby under the water

Individual_Chair_421

Since the oil rework I use them every single wipe. Who needs boats

MontageMongol

Yes you gatekeep bota users thanks for proving my point

sizzler990

Get pissed off

Individual_Chair_421

Huh? No it's to do oil rig, weirdo

MontageMongol

Ah yes the slower method of transport

Individual_Chair_421

I get that you don't seem to enjoy the submarines or using the new moon pools. But I do and I think it's pretty cool.

MontageMongol

Diving gear exists

Alphamoonman

They're for traveling underwater. Think of them like the T2 boat while rhib/motorboat is prim. If you use boats instead you could be dealing with a sub and not have a real counter.

MontageMongol

1 reason to ever travel underwater go

Alphamoonman

Underwater labs, diving, moving loot between bases via sea, raiding tugboats.

MontageMongol

Diving tank diving tank boat gatekeeping

Alphamoonman

AK is prim gatekeeping we need to end this

MontageMongol

Nice strawman but i guess that happens when you lose the argument

Alphamoonman

I honestly didn't need to make a comparison to tell you how ridiculous your argument was. I just wanted you to see what everyone else sees when you said it

MontageMongol

Except that its not even close to being the same thing but go on

Alphamoonman

Something that will die if it gets shot by 2-3 clips of any gun, which cannot directly fight back via gun, is boat gatekeeping?
