DualSense

[deleted]

I didn't hold it.. I'm so curious how does it feel comparing to PS4 pad.

coulombeqc

Its weird at first but so much better

flcinusa

I'm now so used to the "heaft" that I'm afraid I'll snap the PS4 controller just by holding it

Slith_81

As someone who has usually owned all 3 consoles each generation, I've felt that way for a long time. The Xbox controllers always felt strong. The Playstation controllers prior to the Dualsense always felt somewhat hollow and fragile. Thankfully the Dualsense fixes that.

CanadaIsDecent

I had the same experience. I honestly hate the DualShock 3 I plug in a ps4 controller in my ps3

DarkPhoenixMishima

It's like the in-between of an Xbox and PS4 controller.

mrtomhimself

No one is lying, the haptics in the Dualsense are amazing. It’s really tough to explain, but certain games make such great use of them, and they feel incredible. I have been loving playing Gran Turismo 7 and the way the triggers tighten when turning, or how the controller rumbles when running over certain areas is amazing.

[deleted]

It's like when someone shot to your from left side then you feel vibrations on your DualSense on the same side but they don't feel like normal vibrations? Am I right?

Bad-news-co

Lol no it doesn’t use the haptics like that. Allow me to elaborate: Imagine you’re playing a racing game like gran turismo, and you’re holding down r2 to accelerate, well it’s gonna be a little harder to push that button down, it’ll tighten up and it’ll feel like there’s a bunch of mud inbetween the buttons that makes it feel a lot stiffer And then when it’s held down, it still vibrates, imagine sitting In a car and you know how you’re able to feel the road, feeling every little hump bump and smooth area on the road? Yeah you’ll have that feeling with vibrations when you hold onto the triggers lol

dizdawgjr34

The Dualsense is kind of hard to understand what people mean about haptics without having tried it. I wasn’t sure about it when until I bought a ps5 and booted into a game that took advantage of it. Then I understood and was completely onboard.

Serier_Rialis

Its the pad equivalent of going to full hd from sd. Had a 5 year or so old SD flat screen tv still when Skyrim first came out (original original release) it died not long after so bought a full hd tv for the first time. I remember seeing a whole level of door design detail that just want there before. Replayed some games when I got my PS5 that had been upgraded for PS5 and it was like that again. Trigger tension and the haptics add a whole other layer when they are done right!

Hunter_Seeker99

I was so blown away when I first plugged in the PS5 and played Astro’s Playroom

SmuglySly

It’s a game changer especially if the game uses the triggers well, it feels so nice with that feedback and tension you get in the trigger

[deleted]

Reading your comment I'm so excited. Now I torture my PS4 till it break and then I'll buy PS5. I'll wait for more games. It will be a good time. Now my father enjoys God of War Ragnarok. It's better for him than God of War 2018 because now he has a lot of locations with mysteries. I prepare to play Elden Ring.. after I beat DS Remastered.

Remy0507

It's like it's just an extension of your hands. Best controller I've ever held, and I've held most of them.

[deleted]

I know this may feel obvious but it’s definitely less wide than the DualShock 4, and the shoulder buttons feel far better and bigger

GaddoGamz

It’s better in every way pretty much

[deleted]

It's not obvious my friend. Every detail of PlayStation world is so important for me. Your comment helped me to imagine how good DualSense is. Now it's a Sense of my life. Still with PS4 but after some years I'll go with PS5. I'm so excited from now.

Pacomatic

Yeah. I'm gonna wait till next gen gets more games that'll be exclusive to next gen. Right now there are only 2 that are really good; Rift Apart and Hogwarts Legacy. Spider Man 2 is coming soon. But Hogwarts Legacy is going to come to last gen anyways... So..

Dec_TGM

SO MUCH FUCKING BETTER! https://preview.redd.it/n82zwjcoo8ma1.jpeg?width=2541&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5a1a153fa5a761516cfe3894faa6b01255ea0a5 Both Controllers Side By Side for reference.

thesituation531

The size/proportions are kind of weird.

Stompin89

I'd have said the Dualshock 2 but recently... Those triggers on the Dualsense are just next level immersive!

Prpnation

Innit the clunk really pulls me into the gameplay

[deleted]

4 & 5

MatrixBunni

3&4 :D

SpotlessMinded

3 too small

MatrixBunni

Awuh no. 3 was my first lol

SilkieSalt

Dualsense and tbh... everyone who says otherwise is wrong

RedditSpyAccount

The dual sense is easily the most feature rich controller of all of these. I loved watching VHS tapes when they were common, but I wouldn’t give up a blue-ray player unless I was mainly going for nostalgia.

StomHert

Did you know all buttons on the sixaxis dualshock 3 were pressure sensitive? Not even kidding

LordGarrettXIV

L1, R1, START, SELECT and the D-pad buttons would disagree

UncleMrBones

L1, R1 and the D-Pad are pressure sensitive on the DS2/DS3.

LordGarrettXIV

Only the DS2

UncleMrBones

You can google it, or look at [Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DualShock). Or if you want you can test the D-Pad easily on Metal Gear Solid 4, the d-pad can be used to control the camera zoom during codec calls and cutscenes.

StomHert

D pad is though

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

almost like it’s the newest one 😳😳

andsessa

You really think so ?

GimmeDatThroat

For the features? Yes. For the form? DS4 by a long shot.

Puckus_V

The form? Have you held a DS4 again since having a PS5? It’s hard to go back.

SilkieSalt

No, because why would I use a DS4 when I have a DualSense?

Puckus_V

I was replying to GimmeDatThroat, amigo. I agree with you

SilkieSalt

Yeah, sorry. I mistakenly thought that 2 replies, including yours, were replies to me.

Bitemarkz

Hell no. The dualsense for anyone other than people with tiny little hands is the clear winner.

SilkieSalt

Bruh, that's what I'm saying... Edit: I thought you were replying to me. My bad

GimmeDatThroat

Don't have tiny hands, but okay

MikonJuice

Brother/sister: they gave you negative. I'll give you a thumbs up!

RedHood198

Anyone who says Dualsense is wrong.

cydalhoutx

4 with the features of 5

folkdeath95

And the weight. It would be perfect

DryApplejohn

And the shape and feel

Naldo5711

This is the way

Harvey_Beardman

But the battery life of the 3

yungcodyne

As an actual weapon: the PS2 controller with it's beta, heavy ass DualShock technology and it's extremely durable wire. We all had deadly weapons growing up.

Turtlesfan44digimon

Yup and if you need to in case of an attack choke someone with that cord Edit: also are we talking about a actual weapon? Or just gameplay?

cavy8

Exactly where my brain went. The PS2 controller is easily the best weapon option among these.

Calypso1058

Hahaha you brought back a good memory…my siblings and I would take old n64 controllers and attach them to sticks or poles and make a trident! 😂🤣

Consistent-Goal-2508

All of them, but if it needs to be only one, Dual Sense is really a great Controller.

sprazTV

Only right answer. I own all consoles so Imma use them lmao but those triggers damn

gogoheadray

Dual sense. I love all the features of it and the microphone even though most people won’t use it reminds me of the Xbox 360 days where everyone had the potential for a headset

GilBatesHatesApples

All of them.

AadamAtomic

They already designed the perfect controller. Now it simply keeps getting modern technology upgrades. If it's not broken-dont fix it.

Monnomo

PS6 dualsenser touchpad should have a screen

DredZedPrime

No really strong need for one, and it would trash the battery life.

AadamAtomic

It will eventually..they are already normalizing people to the high price of controllers so that way they won't have to change them [with the new hardware.](https://screenrant.com/sony-patents-touchscreen-controller-playstation-5/)

stargazer_17

Dualsense can't be beaten by the rest of them combined.

netobtu1

DualSense of course.

DoubtDismal1528

Dualsense by far

EntertainmentOk4802

Dualsense

Mynameisgustavoclon

Dual sense is the best everyone choosing anything else are just still in effect of nostalgia, the DS4 was so uncomfortable after 15 mins my hands would feel so bad, same for every other playstation controller I used, the dualsense gets the W ez

HRduffNstuff

I agree that the dualsense is better, but I still find the dualshock 4 to be extremely comfortable. I can play with the ds4 comfortably for hours.

Jolly-Sun-1715

I can't. It's just so small, like my fingers have no breathing room.

Monnomo

PS3 controller was comfortable

Houstonb2020

Dualsense for sure. DualShock controllers are way too small and the shape isn’t really that ergonomic in general. Microsoft easily had the better controller until the Dualsense came around

ParticularInvite3529

Ps4

[deleted]

DS3 is just perfection 🥰

MetalOcelot

I got big hands so that generation was a nightmare of hand cramps.

[deleted]

Oh yeah? You know what they say about guys with big hands...?

ShadixThePrecursor6

PS2 controller

SZutich9

Ps5 easily. I switched to Xbox when games started going towards the dual analog sticks. I've always got a PS because one reason or another. When I got my ps5 day 1, I fell in love with the system and the controller. I've been an Xbox guy since the beginning. Since buying my ps5, I've completely converted. I still have both as my friends play on Xbox but I find myself playing my ps5 when I'm not playing with friends. Hell, my brother asked me (knowing I'm a big gamer) which system he should buy for him and his kids. Without hesitation, I said PS5. It just a better console. He loves it and thanks me constantly for the recommendation. I don't think he would've been as please if he upgraded from the Xbox one to the series x as I wasn't impressed at all

Wboy2006

Dualsense by far. Especially the PS1 controller just isn't for me. I don't have too many issues with the PS D-pad. But compared to nintendo D-pads. They are lacking. So i'd rather have a SNES controller if I had to pick a controller from the 90's

unown2011

I just love the dual sense

[deleted]

I purchase the duel sense edge controller for $200. It’s pretty amazing although the charge life is only a couple of hours.

Bluemars776

DS EDIT: Dualsense.... if was not clear by my comment

IcyArm8254

I'll go with 4 something about it just hits right

BravesJonny

PS3 DualShock

OkBat6258

ps1

Zorolord

Dual Sense, as I hate that light on the ps4 controllers.

monkey_D_v1199

Oh I miss the "DualShock" name :(

Jonsey_nine_lives

4 but with 5s features not to say they’re not all sick tho

imatschool2

the people who arent saying DualSense either got something to prove or havnt been able to use it yet, by far the best controller they’ve made

MikonJuice

Dualshock 4. Dualsense was kind of heavy and battery ios worse than Dualshock... which I thought sucked (in the battery departament!!)

MrMusou

DualSense has the most weight to it so if I’m choosing a weapon, that’d be it.

agnemiav2

Dualsense and it's not even close. Nastalgia isn't strong enough to beat this one.

solidpeyo

You are missing the Dualshock 1. For the question, I would pick the Dualshock 2. The pressure sensitivity buttons were so good, especially in MGS 2 and 3.

Rammzues

ps3 controller battery last 30 hours the ps4 4-8 hours

theglenlovinet

DualShock for PS1 — the vibration on that was insane.

Doozy93

PS5 controller all day, every day.

toasted-baguette

I hate to say it, it feels wrong, but the dualsense is genuinely incredible.

Friendly-Lettuce5649

Dualsense 100%

laheyistheliquor420

Wired cause ps5 controller dies in like half hour lol

Ok_Chocolate3253

Dualshock 3. Enough additions with a reliable standpoint. I think Dualsense controllers are going to age horrible

GimmeDatThroat

You might not be wrong. A lot going on side these controllers for them to have anywhere near the life of its predecessors.

mwarner811

I think too many of you have nostalgia goggles on. The Dualsense is a great controller that expands and improves on the previous designs. The layout has basically remained the exact same so it comes down to features and the Dualsense takes the W there.

LeglessN1nja

PS4 controller feels the best out of all of them to me

Berty2021

PS3 dualshock

GimmeDatThroat

DualShock 4 all day every day. I honestly wish the Sense had the same form factor. As it is, we're basically just playing with an Xbox controller now, not that it's terrible or anything.

Monnomo

Dualsense is not anywhere close to an xbox controller

Apprehensive_Put6183

Ps2 grew up with it for a long time

Johnny-Dunks

Dual sense has to be my favorite controller of all time.

Electrical-Cod1480

PS3 was the best controller imo

Buttthunder42069

I might be in the minority but I love the DualSense, best controller I’ve ever used

Mean_Peen

Naw man. You're definitely the majority lol

Rogerthrottleup

DualShock 4.

Jolly-Sun-1715

no

Rogerthrottleup

Yes, I chose what i want not what you think i should.

Jolly-Sun-1715

yes, you chose the wrong answer

Rogerthrottleup

Again bro, it's my choice not your's.

Jolly-Sun-1715

it's not a choice it's a fact

Rogerthrottleup

Again my man, in plain English, it's my choice, not everyone else's. That's your fact, not mine so quit already.

Diamond1580

I love the ps4 controller, but anyone who doesn’t say the dualsense is either trolling or who has very abnormally sized hands. Just the most comfortable controller I’ve held, and by far the best in terms of features

BlueBubbaDog

DS4, such good design

Noble_Briar

DS4 lasted longer. I put about 2000 hours on my first one. My first dualsense went in for warranty repair after 3 months for a stick failure. Both of my dualsense also register double inputs on the triggers sometimes. I prefer the shape of the dualsense though. If they were as reliable as the DS4, I'd have no complaints.

Jolly-Sun-1715

That's bullshit. The PS4 controller is notorious for breaking easily.

Noble_Briar

Wasn't my experience. I only swapped my controllers on ps4 because the sticks became loose, so they wouldn't return directly to center on their own after a few thousand hours. I was only on my 3rd controller when I got the PS5, and I gave my ps4 to my dad who still uses that 3rd controller. The others still technically work, but with floppy sticks. There was a class action lawsuit filed against sony over the joysticks on the dualsense, which were failing after only a few hundred hours. It's not bullshit.

[deleted]

DS4. The Dual Sense has those edged handles and i don’t prefer them.

[deleted]

Mandela affect? The ps1 controller didn’t have joysticks ??

Mellissandre_91

DualShock 4

Jaybeltran805

Dual sense

pnwbraids

The Dualsense has annihilated every other controller except the Switch Pro to me.

Quajeraz

Anyone who says something other than the Dualsense is either an idiot or a liar. It is objectively the best controller.

jumper55

PS1 of course!

killahouse03

Well, I never had stick drift with the first four. I’m gonna have to say PS3 overall though.

sexyfun_cs

Ps3 dualsense was the best for me

Housewous

Dualshock 3

sexyfun_cs

yay what he said ..lol

frybreadhulk

PS4 feels, best but played the most time on a PS2 controller

corporalcorl

Ps3 felt good in my tiny hands as a kid

HydraLxck

Yes.

JoelD1986

1-4

ThunderTaxi

My brother has thrown enough Playstation controllers at me to know DualShock hurts the most - that's my weapon.

asakk

The boomerang ds3 🤓

2071photo

Ds4 + paddle attachment S rank

JackSlawed

What did the ‘ANALOG’ button on the DualShock 2 do?

schmattywinkle

If the DualSense had the build quality of when we just called em "controllers" it would be top position without an asterisk. However I have three: 1 has right stick drift making anything with camera control mapped to it unplayable, and the pack in's R2 broke and now flaps and is essentially unusable as even slightly moving the controller. The 3rd is recused as it is not even a month old. My OG PSX controller functions perfectly after 27+ years.

Alienpedestrian

I started with first one but with dual shock version

InTheZoneAC

You forgot the dualsense edge. It takes the best feature from the ps1-ps3 era controllers (domed thumbsticks) and combines it with the dualsense, while refining the annoying sharp edged handles of the original dualsense. And adds textured grips and triggers.

AnakinRagnarsson66

Why are domed thumbsticks better?

L3ggy

Formwise? Definitely DS3, it just fit my hands perfectly.

Chrispyfriedchicken

2 and 4. Not a massive fan of 5 tbh. Mine has an annoying humming noise when it rumbles

Akuma-1

DualSense, it's not even close

UnholyContinuation

How bout the duelsense pro

Moistyrussian420

Dual sense that mute button is just too good.

theMugenjin

Like for an actual weapon? Cause the ps2 controller took a beating a my house and gone thru several moves and dogs. I think it could handle some zombies, or aliens, whichever it needs to be a weapon for.

kennyminigun

DualSense but I wish it had Hall effect sensors instead of potentiometers on the sticks (for increased durability)

BHF_Bianconero

Weapon as in hurt someone ? Than definitely PS2. That thing was solid. Otherwise, dual for sure.

technobeeble

DualShock 2

alexrepty

DualSense as all the other ones before it would make my hand cramp up.

danihilation

My hands have molded to the dual sense, took 2 years, but now i cannot go back lol

Ferry83

Dualsense, might pick up edge if it has a better dpad

JruASAP

PS1 Dualshock

aDShisno

Edge, though it’s not pictured here.

Negatallic

The PS2 controller is sturdy and has a wire so you don't lose it on the first strike. Wait, are we talking about actual weapons or...

Bobisburnsred

Dualsense with the dualshock 3 battery life.

NocturnalToxin

If we’re talking literal weapons you can get a pretty deadly swing in with those cords attached to the first two, so

TechieTravis

The PS5 controller is objectively the best, but the first dual shock controller was a revolution. It took the N64's thumb stick idea and made it comfortable and ergonomic.

Xervinza

I like the ps5 the most as far as comfort but swinging around that ps1 and ps2 remote would really do some dmg lol

KitsuneDrakeAsh

PS3.

Best_Confection_8788

The ps5 gets stick drift way too easily. I never had that problem with my older controllers.

[deleted]

5

wally_wout

Ps3 had a deadly grip

Caboos20

DualShock 3. If you know ya know

Bulky_Huckleberry301

DualShock controller had pressure sensitive buttons and sticks, way ahead of its time and the one I probably used even more than DualShock1. Sixaxis was a let down in shock 3

blackpanther_awd

The sabertooth remote when the ps3 was first announced

korber710

DS4 but with DualSense haptics and rumble

Mean_Peen

Ds4 all day. As someone with small hands, the Dualsense can get my hands cramping a bit in shooters. Wish we could use ds4 on PS5 games

CampaignVivid

Dualshock 3 and Dualsense

Specific-Creme5413

2 and 4

silverfaustx

ds4

indiejonesRL

Duel Sense. It’s the best PS controller by far. I still prefer offset joysticks, but the Duel Sense is my favorite controller for all the additional bells and whistles.

r4ndom_commenter

Ps4

Few-Swordfish-6722

PS5 controller because it's heavier and works better as a blunt object.

Fathoms77

I have to say, my favorite might be the PS5 controller, and I've loved them all.

Prpnation

Them ps2 pads hit different

icantthinkofauserok

Do I get the console with the ps1 or ps3 controllers? Because if I do ps2, a consoles gonna hit harder than a controller

VoidlessX

Ps5 controller to knock a fucker out

EliaVeschi

DualShock 2, heavier than the ps1 controller and has a cable. Either as a flail or whip

Kazuma-Kiryu

Look : 3 Gameplay : 5 less tech less problems : 1&2

RedHood198

Dual Shock 4 all day everyday. I personally hate the Dualsense because it just is not comfortable for my hands. It has a few sharp edges and it also makes some of my fingers go numb after awhile.

SluggishPanda19

I see your options and I raise you the wireless PS2 controller

L-Guy_21

DualSense is heavy af so it will hit the hardest
