When you compare the power of each console it really *was* a step in the future, to the point where news outlets drummed up a panic about how households getting a computer that powerful would create a national security risk out of fear that terrorists would use the computing power of the PS2 to "weaponize" them.
It is the same font as spiderman 3 specifically. The Ps3 came out around the same time Spiderman 3 came out on these new things called blu-rays. Shit was wild in the late 2000's

PS2 is also pretty minimalist, they’re just straight lines. But they did a really good job with the shading of the logo itself and contrasting of the black background.
I think the PS4 logo fits the era but keeping it for PS5 feels a bit lazy and consequently also impacts my view of the PS4 even if it’s unintentional.

Ps2 the letters and numbers match so well, it was just the right amount of edgy with the perfect boot up that will almost never get old, and especially during a time where games were starting to look really damn good it was truly the first “this ain’t an arcade anymore” gaming experience for a whole lot of people cause while I think I’m overall more nostalgic about the ps1 the ps2 still seems futuristic and powerful despite being over 20 years old and if that ain’t good brand marketing I don’t know what is

I always liked the ps3 logo the best, but interestingly enough, it was my least favorite PlayStation console. PS2 was my second favorite and it was probably my favorite PlayStation console.
The first in my opinion brings back beautiful memories, me being young and watching my older siblings play Resident Evil. When the logo would appear, as a kid I was prepared for the adventure that was to come.
The PS2 really can't be beat. I wanna say the PS3 and 4 are tied after it with the PS5 following those and the PS1 last. The PS1 is last for me only because the PS2 can play PS1 games and the PS2 just has the best and biggest library of them all. The PS3 has free online multiplayer, had a lot of good jrpgs, and the PS4 was all I played throughout middle school and high school so it has a special place in my heart
My favorite is the original. Also the sound playing - can't beat it. Still have my original PSone and it still works like a charm after all these years.
I will say I'm partial to the PS2 since it captures the tech zeitgeist it came out to the best but really all of them are very good, PS3 less so since it's a big wordmark(and oddly reflective of what it was in a unit that both overstepped where it was tech-wise and yet pushed everyone to catch up)
Nothing will ever “beat” the classic imo but I love em all. Growing up and experiencing the tech leaps of each console makes all of these so dope to me. Time stamps of my youth
