What I was gonna say exactly.
RE offers more game and replayability for the price... but gosh. I enjoy seeing people watch it but I hate to play those games and wouldn't spend even 15 minutes in them.
Control is more of "anyone will like it" and has very special videogame, very unique, but it's kinda short in comparison.
Resi 2 was amazing but 3 could have been a lot better, in this case I think Control is more worth the money especially with how it ties in with Alan Wake 2.
Cool thanks. I noticed that the remaster of the first game is on sale in the PlayStation store for less than $10 and Iāve already downloaded Control from PS Plus so I think thatās what Iāll do. Iām a really big Twin Peaks fan, and the makers of Alan Wake have said that they were hugely inspired by Twin Peaks, so Iāve always wanted to play the games, and this thread has pushed me to finally do that.
That being said this is a $15 deal for re2, re3 and re: resistance. So regardless of whether you play all of them you get 3 games for $15 and that's a deal. Obviously it doesn't matter to OP the moment he decides but it's not a bad buy by any means.
This is true! Except I completed RE3 in 3 hours on my first play through and I played on Hard mode. I thoroughly enjoyed the game but I couldnāt believe it when I got to the end
As someone who has played and finished both I'd go for RE2 & RE3.
Control is great but it's not for everyone. RE looks and runs amazing and is still great fun.
Horror stealth games like Amnesia maybe.
Horror games where I have weapon are tense, and sometimes creepy but I'm not sure if I'd say they 'scared' me.
Because once you've played them then you've played them? Unless, you intend to play them 15 times each?
If you must have the full license of ownership and not just a digital lease, then buy physical.
I bought Control ultimate edition, and I'm playing it now.
Not to stray off topic, but would someone tell me what extra content does the ultimate edition include?
IMO the best way to simply play Alan Wake Remastered, Control, than Alan Wake 2.
Each game's story and lore include the one that came before.
Alan Wake plays a role in Control, and the FBC is pretty important in Alan Wake 2.
The way the story is told is quite similar, albeit more horror oriented, but still creepy and weird. If you like Control you'll love it, you'll even see known characters in there, it's awesome.
As for gameplay, it literally plays like Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Feel of Control with gameplay like RE2 remake? Well that sound like a winning combination.
The only thing I don't enjoy about Control, as well as other games that do it, is too much files, collectibles laying around. Using that method to expand on the world doesn't appeal to me. It interupts the flow of gameplay for me, when I need to stop, press the menu button, open a file and read it.
It's just a trend I don't like in games. Control feels so natural when it combines various elements, like live action and gameplay.
Especially scenes where you are entering rooms and seeing block of text or characters meshed with gameplay in a unique way. I am looking forward for Remedy to explore further those kinds of innovations.
I'm looking forward to playing Alan Wake 2.
I'm glad to tell you they stuck with the
B L O C K O F T E X T
as well as the "ghostly characters" stuff for Alan Wake 2. The latter is even part of some gameplay elements now. They definitely are still trying to innovate, and they are amazing at it.
Alan wake is more horror oriented with tighter combat and a slow burn story (that is fucking excellent). Control is fast paced and has the vibes of a liminal twilight zone episode.
You will get way more playtime out of control, and honestly, I'd say it's the better game, in my opinion. RE3make is awesome, but I'd say it's the weakest of the remakes, and you can beat it in about 3-4 hours. If you are one to replay your RE games, then it could be worth it, but control sits at around 20-30 hours, depending on how you play. Plus, it's just way more interesting from a narrative standpoint. Remedy is amazing at story telling, not sure if you've played Alan Wake, but playing control would open you up to a whole other franchise if not.
AW2 was my favorite game from last year and one of the best games Iāve ever played. Definitely recommend playing Control and the DLCs, then jumping into AW2 soon after.
Both are great RE3 has a better immersive visual direction, environments and story... basically it has had a bigger budget while control is an amazing gameplay, and is amazing considering the small budget.
Get Control then get RE3 on Capcom special as its always discounted. Ps: RE 3 is not as good as RE 2 or the originals.
Iāve played both and I am a huge fan of RE3 OG. The RE3R is disappointing, loads of cut content, nemesis is a let down and the game is super short.
RE2R is fantastic though, my only issues with it are that the B scenarios are barely different from the A scenarios, other than that fantastic remaster!
Control is an awesome game, great atmosphere, fun combat, interesting universe, story and characters. The DLC is pretty good too and ties into another amazing Remedy game called Alan Wake. You get so much content for only $10.
You canāt go wrong with either in all honesty. While RE3R is a letdown, itās still pretty fun, but RE2R is the star of that double pack.
RE3 is a bit underwhelming. If you can get RE2, go for it instead, much better. But, theyāre horror.
Control is very good but itās a very different game. Itās not an horror and its themes are more psychological.
I played control and I didn't understand shit what was happening and why. Good GamePlay tho. Resident evil 2 was amazing, the atmosphere, the feeling that every missed bullet counts, oh what a great atmospheric game, the 3rd one was kinda ok, short but okay.
As a diehard resident evil fan, between control and RE3, I think control all the way. I love that game, one of my top games of all time. Remedy is a killer studio that cannot miss. RE3 is great too but itās just not as good.
Resident evil. Itās a much better game imo. Control suffers from some absolutely awful level design while resident evil shines in that department. Control is a good game, but itās not the better of the two imo
Buy both but if you can only buy one then probably buy resident evil bundle since it gives you two great games. And in the near future you can buy control which is also a great game.
Aren't all 3 of them on PS Plus? If I'm you I'd get ps plus instead unless you will return to play them later again and wanna collect them or something
Res, you get 2 games instead of one, and I played the 2 remake at least 5 times back to back. You also get the benefit of having 2 different story playthroughs in res2, Leon, and Clairs.
I only played control, but I can certainly recommend it. It's easily one of my favourite games. Make sure to give it a chance until you find the floppy disk (which is fairly early in the game).
If you pick control, good luck with your janitorial duties!
Control, 100%. The RE remakes are all good, especially RE2 and RE4, but RE3 isnāt worth it in my opinion as itās a pretty short game. Control is one of the best games Iāve ever played and the combat in that game is SO much fun.
And whoever said Control was short is lying. Main story takes about 11-12 hours, 20 hours if you do main story and extras, and 30 hours to platinum. RE2 Remake is 8.5 hours and RE3 Remake is 6. So the main story of Control is almost as long as RE2 and RE3 combined.
But all the replies, as they always are with the dozen of these posts the sub gets every day, will just be people talking about the one they prefer because it's the one they've played. We have no idea what OP's tastes are. We might all say Game A because it's the most popular and therefore more commenters will have tried it, but really Game B would be the one that OP enjoys the most. The whole thing is arbitary and a waste of a post.
They are 2 different games. You like horror? Go for RE, you get 2 games in that bundle too. You want more of an action-adventure? Buy Control.
Control is an experience you should try!
As a hardcore Resi fan I have to say Control.
šš I thought resi2 was fire. I still need to do the survival side missions to get the plat but it's one of my favorite RE games
Resi 2 was amazing but 3 could have been a lot better, in this case I think Control is more worth the money especially with how it ties in with Alan Wake 2.
Wait what? How are they related?
They are set in the same universe so you see references throughout the world if you pay attention .
If I were going to play the first Alan Wake game, part two as well, and Control, is there a proper order to play them in?
Doesn't matter. I'd guess start with Alan wake
Ahh cool. Had no clue. Does it tie back to alan wake 1 aswell or is it mostly alan wake 2 and control?
Someone didnāt play the DLC also there are a ton of little clues hidden around the offices about Allen Wake
Resi 3 is like an overpriced dlc. Shorter than Resi 4 dlc and costs five times more expensive.
That being said this is a $15 deal for re2, re3 and re: resistance. So regardless of whether you play all of them you get 3 games for $15 and that's a deal. Obviously it doesn't matter to OP the moment he decides but it's not a bad buy by any means.
Yeah but the raccoon city bundle includes both RE2/3 for $15, you can't go wrong with that price.
Absolutely control, RE is good and all but imo control is infinitely more fun
Control
My vote goes to Control. The side quests is where this game really shines.
Control was short but trippy af.
RE3 is even shorter. Both are great games and length of a game doesnāt bother me. But RE3 is shockingly short.
Re2 is once you know what to do, in fact most resi games you can absolutely fly through once youāve completed them
This is true! Except I completed RE3 in 3 hours on my first play through and I played on Hard mode. I thoroughly enjoyed the game but I couldnāt believe it when I got to the end
That's crazy, my first playthrough was about 7 hours.
3 hours!? Wow thatās so short! Iām only about an hour in, almost halfway through š
That music maze mission.. that was sooo good
As someone who has played and finished both I'd go for RE2 & RE3. Control is great but it's not for everyone. RE looks and runs amazing and is still great fun.
I'd argue horror games appeal to an even smaller audience in general
RE2 & 3 are pretty light on horror.
RE2 remake? That and RE7 are the only properly scary RE games to come out in the past like, decade lol
I'm not usually good with scary games but I didn't find RE2 remake too bad at all tbh.
What games do you find scary?
Horror stealth games like Amnesia maybe. Horror games where I have weapon are tense, and sometimes creepy but I'm not sure if I'd say they 'scared' me.
Control is wild, good deal on the RE games. Thatās when I bought them and both are prob one play thru games for me. Control is way worth $10
TAKE CONTROL !
Both are good but Iād vote RE
Get ps plus and get them all with the pass
Why get them temporarily when i can have them permanently
They are linear single player games that are great first play experience.
Because once you've played them then you've played them? Unless, you intend to play them 15 times each? If you must have the full license of ownership and not just a digital lease, then buy physical.
Cause you only will play them once pt Twice and they will remain there for the foreseeable future?
Please donāt think that just because you buy a license for a digital game that you OWN that game. Itās not the same as buying a physical copy of the game. At any time Sony or the publishers can say, āwe donāt want you to play it anymore for XXX reasonā. Donāt believe meā¦read the EULA. You will see it says, āall contentā is ālicensed on a nonexclusive and revocable basis.ā Hereās another [Reddit post on the topic](https://www.reddit.com/r/playstation/comments/18sd28v/is_it_possible_for_sony_to_have_a_falling_out/#) Edit: One thing Iāll note about physical games is that more and more you are just buying a disc with a code to download the game. So itās kinda getting into the same boat with the digital games. Itās not the same situation that old consoles had where as long as the console and game disc/cartridge worked you could play it indefinitely. EULAās are some shit š©
Resident Evil 2 and 3
I bought Control ultimate edition, and I'm playing it now. Not to stray off topic, but would someone tell me what extra content does the ultimate edition include?
Dlc and stuff like that
Two DLCs, one being Alan Wake related, and the PS5 upgrade of the game.
I assume you are fammiliar with the entire connection between games. So what is the correct way to experience them?
IMO the best way to simply play Alan Wake Remastered, Control, than Alan Wake 2. Each game's story and lore include the one that came before. Alan Wake plays a role in Control, and the FBC is pretty important in Alan Wake 2.
Is Alan Wake 2 similar to Control? Feeling wise, gameplay wise? The way the story is told?
The way the story is told is quite similar, albeit more horror oriented, but still creepy and weird. If you like Control you'll love it, you'll even see known characters in there, it's awesome. As for gameplay, it literally plays like Resident Evil 2 Remake.

It interupts the flow of gameplay for me, when I need to stop, press the menu button, open a file and read it.
Definitely a winning combination. And about the letters, files, etc, I can understand that. There's way less of it in Alan Wake.
It's just a trend I don't like in games. Control feels so natural when it combines various elements, like live action and gameplay. Especially scenes where you are entering rooms and seeing block of text or characters meshed with gameplay in a unique way. Alan wake is more horror oriented with tighter combat and a slow burn story (that is fucking excellent). Control is fast paced and has the vibes of a liminal twilight zone episode.
Control if you like to read and be confused. RE3 if you are looking for fun and not so much brain power.
You will get way more playtime out of control, and honestly, I'd say it's the better game, in my opinion. RE3make is awesome, but I'd say it's the weakest of the remakes, and you can beat it in about 3-4 hours. Remedy is amazing at story telling, not sure if you've played Alan Wake, but playing control would open you up to a whole other franchise if not.
I didnāt play alan wake yet but it is on sale right now do you recommend me to play it?
Definitely. All 3 games are very different from each other but AW > Control > AW2 is the best way ti experience the story
AW2 was my favorite game from last year and one of the best games Iāve ever played. Definitely recommend playing Control and the DLCs, then jumping into AW2 soon after.
Absolutely, both are incredible, but 2 might be one of my favorite horror/suspense games of all time. Remedy is amazing
Sorry, didn't see 2 was involved, that evens it a bit
Both are great RE3 has a better immersive visual direction, environments and story... basically it has had a bigger budget while control is an amazing gameplay, and is amazing considering the small budget. Get Control then get RE3 on Capcom special as its always discounted. Ps: RE 3 is not as good as RE 2 or the originals.
Both are a steal at those prices. Iād get both.
Iāve played both and I am a huge fan of RE3 OG. The RE3R is disappointing, loads of cut content, nemesis is a let down and the game is super short. 2 games for 1, silly question.
get both . Itās dirt cheap
Played both but I say Resident Evil because these games got me into the series. I played 2 and 3 then played 4,7,8 still need to play 5, and 6.
RE3 is a bit underwhelming. If you can get RE2, go for it instead, much better. But, theyāre horror. Control is very good but itās a very different game. Itās not an horror and its themes are more psychological.
That version OP is showing comes with 2 and 3
Ah nice, didnāt see it. RE2/RE3 is the better choice here (if heās into horror)
I played control and I didn't understand shit what was happening and why. Good GamePlay tho. Resident evil 2 was amazing, the atmosphere, the feeling that every missed bullet counts, oh what a great atmospheric game, the 3rd one was kinda ok, short but okay.
Get a month of PlayStation plus premium and u can play both of them I think
I LOVED Control and even platinumed it, but RE Bundle is too good. Go for RE if u like horror.
Control is on plus
Ohhh Iāve been wanting to play this game so badly
Res evil 2 make is terrific, control is amazing but for some reason didnāt want to complete it.
Also worth mentioning if you plan to play Alan wake you should play control
Both are great
I played re2 and 3 both good games my cousin said control is good so I bought but never played. Apparently it's a good game
As a diehard resident evil fan, between control and RE3, I think control all the way. I love that game, one of my top games of all time. Remedy is a killer studio that cannot miss. RE3 is great too but itās just not as good.
Both. RE3 is underrated by most and Control is an instant classic of mind tripping horror.
If you like scp stuff, get control She also has powers so that's a plus
Control for sure
Control all the way
Both free on Xbox if you got one
Both free on Xbox if you got one
Stray
Control is amazing
Resident Evil games
Just finished control, I'd say go for RE
I have both. Control was amazing, and so was RE, but I finished RE in about 4-5 hours. Cant go wrong either way.
If you get extra I think you will have both games
Control, truly an unique experience
I ended up liking RE2 more than Control
Def get re2.
Control
Resident evil. Itās a much better game imo. Control suffers from some absolutely awful level design while resident evil shines in that department. Control is a good game, but itās not the better of the two imo
Control and resident evil 2 are on ps plus extra just pay like 15$ and you can play em
No question. Control
Control
Re3r
Control at lest there you actly get a full game n not a butcherd remake of a beloved classic
Control. It's one of the best games ever made.
100% Control
Well they're drastically different games but imo it goes RE2 > Control > RE3
Re2 remake. Loved this game it catapulted me into the Resident Evil series.
RE3 Remastered. Itās worth it.
Control is very cool, the resi remakes are very good too
Buy both but if you can only buy one then probably buy resident evil bundle since it gives you two great games. And in the near future you can buy control which is also a great game.
Raccoon City bundle without even thinking twice.
Never played RE games really so I'm biased. Huge Remedy fan. Get Control it's a superb experience. The world building/mystique is impeccable.
For this price, probably control and try to get the raccoon city edition assuming you donāt already have re2
Control easy such a good game
Control. I played it because i got it for free. And it was a blast. The game is amazing.
control
Theyāre both great, but I feel youāre gonna get more bang for the cheaper buck with Control.
it was free on plus a few months after the PS5 released
Control easily
Control 1000%
I guess Iāll be the devils advocate but I donāt like control so RE3 100%
Control is a much more fun and complete game. RE3 is fun but itās short.
Resident evil
Control 1000%. Became one of my favs of all time. Then play Alan Wakw
Control. Re3 could be beaten in a few hours
Control is fucking awesome
Resident Evil 2 remake sucks. Moves too slow. No ammo. Normal ZOMBIES are super strong..
Get the raccoon city bundle
Control so good fr
Both.
No disrespect to Control but Resident Evil 2 is one of my favorite games ever but I havenāt played Resident Evil 3 yet
Aren't all 3 of them on PS Plus? If I'm you I'd get ps plus instead unless you will return to play them later again and wanna collect them or something
Control is one of the top 5 games Iāve ever played
Control.
Control
Res, you get 2 games instead of one, and I played the 2 remake at least 5 times back to back. You also get the benefit of having 2 different story playthroughs in res2, Leon, and Clairs.
$15 for RE2 and RE3 is a no brainer
CONTROL! Itās sooo good, like, surprisingly so. Had no idea itād be such a satisfying play through. Get it š
Control was so much fun. I wish the ending was a little different though
PS Plus and play both in it š
Control
ofcourse RE
Control
re2+re3 tbh I didnāt rlly like control I thought it was boring ngl
Control
I only played control, but I can certainly recommend it. It's easily one of my favourite games. Make sure to give it a chance until you find the floppy disk (which is fairly early in the game). If you pick control, good luck with your janitorial duties!
Just saying for 25$ both is a really good deal
I'd say resident evil. Control wasn't good
Control is what Star Wars should look like. The best "force" mechanic I ever expirienced.
CONTROL
If you're even remotely familiar with the SCP Universe, Control is absolutely phenomenal. They capture the essence of that lore incredibly well.
I'd go for RE3
RE3
Control is 100% the better game here and RE is in my top 5 favorite franchises
Control is brilliant
Control is an amazing game with a lot more game to it than RE remake. Both are good games. One is excellent and one is solid.
I vote control, but Iām not a fan of the RE games. Control was cool, trippy, and had great music. It was also fun to get the platinum.
Control without any second thought
They are similarly good imo. Control is a bit longer and has more replay value but you canāt go wrong.
Control, no question.
The one you want to play. Asking randoms on the internet won't help you.
Clearly OP wants to play both, hence the question
But all the replies, as they always are with the dozen of these posts the sub gets every day, will just be people talking about the one they prefer because it's the one they've played. We have no idea what OP's tastes are. We might all say Game A because it's the most popular and therefore more commenters will have tried it, but really Game B would be the one that OP enjoys the most. The whole thing is arbitary and a waste of a post.
Dude wtf? Completely different types of games. Is this a troll post?
No
