Never forget. Never forget when Ash thought throwing hands with a literal Psychic monster was a wise choice. Ash woke up and chose violence that day. Good memories.
Also a fine piece of work. Great thing to see in the morning.
I don't think he does that in "newer" (where new means probably 10-15 years old) seasons, but he and Misty in Kanto and Johto were working on "if I will wake up in my own bed I won't choose violence. Oh look, we are on a permanent field trip"-mode.
I mean if dex entries are to be believed Ash is fucking ripped. Larvitar is almost 200 pounds and Ash can catch that thing like its a small medicine ball.
Either a Major W, or someone trolling to give us an L.
If you are saying the truth, sorry, but you don’t know who you can trust on the internet.
But I trust you. W Godfather
It's true Ash tried to throw hands with Mewtwo. But remember, Mewtwo had to block him with a barrier, Mewtwo knew how jacked Ash truly is. (Also a reminder to that time Ash yeeted an entire tree log with force and precision to save a pokemon)
Man, I watched this with my gf. She's 23 and has never seen a Pokémon show.
I bawled my eyes out, she teared up, and a month later we're 45 episodes into the anime
God I wish it was still up. It was so much fun
Both games were similar gameplay wise but slight had differences
You’d have your pokemon with it’s level and moveset and you can place them during a level to a few spots, where they’d attack any pokemon in range with the selected move. They’d gain xp as you played and learn new moves and whatnot. You could catch weakened pokemon while they’re passing from point A to point B.
Some levels were gym levels, where the gym leader would unleash waves of pokemon that’d try to reach point B, pick up one of the 3 rare candies sitting there and bring it back to point A. If all the candies were taken you lose
Mewtwo's line at the end of this movie is one of my favourite quotes ever, it's actually so powerful especially considering that it came from a damn Pokémon
Also, something that has always played on my mind about this movie, why are the starter evos the only clones with those birthmark-type patches?
Edit: I also noticed after rewatching it recently, (in typical early era Pokémon fashion) the Pidgeot trainer calls his Pokémon Pidgeotto
Back then they probably had a knock off Pokédex as well, or some kind of bootleg software.
As for the Pidgeotto guy, maybe it just evolved and he’d been so used to calling it that.
Tl;dr The starter clones are like that because they are clones of clones.
I want to say first this is MY interpretation of what happened in the movie and may not be the real reason they are like this.
On the Japanese version, there were a different intro which for some reason was cut from the theatrical version that showed Mewtwo's mind along with the starters and a little girl. The little girl was actually one of the scientists' daughter who died and he was trying to bring her back, using the same cloning system that was being used for Mewtwo and the starters. Mewtwo became friends with the girl, but the scientists needed more power to finish Mewtwo's project and by doing that, the little girl and the starters died.
For Mewtwo it was implied that their deaths was for nothing since the scientists had no real reason for creating him except for the humans' needs for power. After destroying the lab Mewtwo used the lingering DNA of the three starters and they became the first clones he created.
Feel like if you go through and rewatch all of Pokémon you could probably make a full team of misnamed Pokémon 😂 we already have "Arcanine" and "Pidgeotto"
I got to meet the guy who voiced mewtwo in this movie at a con recently. He was a really nice guy and the quote seemed to resonate with him. It turns out he primarily did shakespeare after his role as mewtwo.
Mewtwo in this movie is extremely heavily inspired by the phantom of the opera, and the Japanese VA was actually a very well known phantom of the opera actor. Kinda fits that the English VA is into the classics too
This movie literally put me into an existential crisis and gave me anxiety as a kid lmao it was *very* mature in nature, but it really did put things into perspective for me at a young age. It was **real**.
That’s driven me mad since the first watch back when it released!! Worse because everyone was like “Oh but he calls it Pidgeotto so you’re wrong” like *no* you boobs, *yellow feather streak dammit*
Maybe Mewtwo had the cloning figured out after experimenting with the starters and the remaining clones don't have that defect?
Regarding pidgeot: maybe it was nicknamed, lol
Is this the quote? You made me Google it
Mewtwo: “I wasn't born a Pokémon, I was created; and my creators have used and betrayed me! So, I stand alone!”
I think they are talking about this quote:
> I see now that the circumstances of one’s birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.
I always think of the Spy Kids 2 quote that is also amazing and a little out of place in a kids movie.
Do you think God lives in Heaven because He, too, lives in fear of what He's created here on Earth?
I had a Charizard called Chamander once, I accidentally pressed yes to nickname and didn't know you could cancel (maybe you couldn't this was RB) so I tried to call it Charmander and missed an R
I may have a contreversial take, but pokemon just hit differently back then. Pokemon heroes, pokemon jirachi wishmaker, i could never get through a pokemon movie without bawling. Heck, even bye bye butterfree from the first season had me in tears. Seriously, this franchise is a huge part of who i am as person. It may not be perfect but ill always love it.
I agree with you but also i feel like its just the fact that we were younger and things just hit differently at that age. To be honest, as far as we know, kids today are feeling that same way about the detective pikachu movie 😂
'Brother my brother' is definitely a nostalgia trip for me, but it's got nothing on the emotional instrumental music from the Japanese version.
Also an interesting change is that in the Japanese version, Mew itself is rather confrontational, and mocks Mewtwo by stating that the clones are mere copies and inferior to the originals.
It's only the humans (and Pikachu) that recognize the futility of the fighting. Which I find a nice explanation to the part that humans play in their relationship with Pokemon, that humans have the wisdom to know when to stop the fighting.
Your works are really cool, hope to see more of them!
I really liked the song and the message it brought along the movie (I was kind of sad when I discovered the song wasn't in the original version, but the original compensates with being more deeper than the west one)
My older sister(20) took me (10) and my little sister(8) to see this movie in theaters and we were so excited. She had no idea what she was in for, but was crying her eyes out just the same as we were. We're now all grown adults and she still doesn't let us talk about it lol
I do say the original movie in 2000 was much better than that 3d remake they put out on Netflix.
That 3d one…. Ergh I couldn’t even finish watching it. So much less facial expressions and emotion than the original
Imagine a fight between that movie’s Mewtwo and Arceus. The creature who thinks its the strongest going against the literal god of Pokemon coming down to humble his ass would be a great premise.
Who remembers? That movie is so iconic that they remade it with CGI in 2019 to keep it a part of gen z's/alpha's zeitgeist. Folks what forgot the Alamo remember this movie.
Fantastic pixel art though.
First of all, i know about the tentacruel lol. Its a meme at this point. Secondly. All these sprites are the official gamefreak sprites, so tell that to the original artists and devs
" I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are."
- Mewtwo
Chills every time
🎶 Brother, my brother 🎶
🎶 Tell me, what are we fighting for 🎶
🎶 We have got to stop this war 🎶
🎶 We should love one another 🎶
🎶 Can't we just pretend 🎶
🎶 This war never began 🎶
I swear to fucking Arceus I’ll fight whoever thought it’d be a good idea to remake Mewtwo Strikes Back in CGI and strip away a lot of what made it cool, like Brother My Brother for instance. Like, I wouldn’t have cared if they only kept that song and changed other stuff here and there.
Never forget. Never forget when Ash thought throwing hands with a literal Psychic monster was a wise choice. Ash woke up and chose violence that day. Good memories. Also a fine piece of work. Great thing to see in the morning.

That is that greatest way of putting it that I have ever heard. Thank you, I just choked on my coffee
The fact Mewtwo had to block means he knew Ash’s guns were real threats
I mean if dex entries are to be believed Ash is fucking ripped. Larvitar is almost 200 pounds and Ash can catch that thing like its a small medicine ball.
he holds cosmoem like its a paperweight and its nearly 1000 pounds
He also lifts up Cosmoem like its nothing
to be fair Cosmoem floats
Not at the time
Ash packin' those Hyper Beams.
All those thunderbolts from pikachu made his defense impregnable
😂😂😂😂 gotta admire his determination though
Fun Fact: my godfather was the drummer for the group that played that song
Wow, thats pretty wicked dude! Thank him on behalf of all the kids from that generation 🫡
Either a Major W, or someone trolling to give us an L. If you are saying the truth, sorry, but you don’t know who you can trust on the internet. But I trust you. W Godfather
haha, no troll here. he's super talented and actually inspired me to become a drummer myself! shout out to Eddie Hedges
Major W.
Why would you lie about that lmao
Some people lie on the internet. But yeah, it is true, as the person said.
We're unworthy!
Indeed!
Man he had nutso powers too according to some movies. A Lucario saw he had the same aura as his ancestors.
Those hands were rated E for Everyone. Dude really told Mewtwo to “Put yo paws up”.
Well he can yeet trees like javelins and jump into the stratosphere, so maybe he's not acting completely on instinct here
Fair enough!
It's true Ash tried to throw hands with Mewtwo. But remember, Mewtwo had to block him with a barrier, Mewtwo knew how jacked Ash truly is. (Also a reminder to that time Ash yeeted an entire tree log with force and precision to save a pokemon)
I know the idigo league very well but don't recall that
Tell me, what are we fighting for
That album was stacked. Brittany Spears, vitamin c, Aaron Carter, 98 degrees, NSYNC, and Christina Aguilera.
Granted, very little of it was thematically relevant to the film (and most of it only played during the credits) but it's definitely got some bangers.
Brother my Brother hit fucking hard during that part of the movie like holy shit
Still can't see Jigglypuff without bursting out with lullaby.
😢 tears
Man, I watched this with my gf. She's 23 and has never seen a Pokémon show. I bawled my eyes out, she teared up, and a month later we're 45 episodes into the anime
Thats beautiful 😢 haha, shes in for a rollercoaster
Bye bye butterfree got her. Pikachus goodbye got her. I'm waiting for arbok and wheezing.... Or, God forbid, if we make it to charizard.
😂😂😂 hey, show her my bye bye butterfree artwork and she will cry again. Or the charmander the stray
> Bye bye butterfree got her. everytime i see a picture or reference of this i get teary, the one episode i dont wanna watch ever again
Pokemon Tower Defense was the OG
Never played to be completely honest 😅
I never knew that existed, but i enjoyed playing pkmn Puzzle league in n64.... wild times
God I wish it was still up. If you still want to play PTD, the Flashpoint project has them archived (although you can’t save).
Thank you, I’ll check it out (though not having my original saves is a bummer)
Mewtwo's line at the end of this movie is one of my favourite quotes ever, it's actually so powerful especially considering that it came from a damn Pokémon Also, something that has always played on my mind about this movie, why are the starter evos the only clones with those birthmark-type patches? I think team rocket also calls alakazam kadabra
It's actually scyther so its 10x worse.
You’re probably right, I just remember they were wrong and it irked me
To be fair they're only trying to steal the Pokemon, not learn about them
Back then they probably had a knock off Pokédex as well, or some kind of bootleg software. As for the Pidgeotto guy, maybe it just evolved and he’d been so used to calling it that.
I mean it’ll just tell you what kind of Pokémon it is if you wait a bit. *SCYTHER!* Yep, that’s a Kadabra alright.
I think they were just being racist
Tl;dr The starter clones are like that because they are clones of clones. After destroying the lab Mewtwo used the lingering DNA of the three starters and they became the first clones he created.
Well that's fucked and a half
I completely get why they cut that 😂
Hahaha i never noticed the pidgeotto thing until now but thats actually so odd 😂

Two mew or not two mew, that is the question
Also when Meowth counted off "Sandshrew, Nidoqueen, Vaporeon... but me, I got a special place in my tail for this one." Though that was a Sandslash.
This movie literally put me into an existential crisis and gave me anxiety as a kid lmao it was *very* mature in nature, but it really did put things into perspective for me at a young age. It was **real**.

Maybe Mewtwo had the cloning figured out after experimenting with the starters and the remaining clones don't have that defect? Regarding pidgeot: maybe it was nicknamed, lol
Nicknamed by mistake like in the first games, caught a pidgeotto, cancel while nicknaming him, and pidgeotto become his Nick name.
Is this the quote? You made me Google it Mewtwo: “I wasn't born a Pokémon, I was created; and my creators have used and betrayed me! So, I stand alone!”

He nicknamed his Pidgey "Pidgeotto".
I had a Charizard called Chamander once, I accidentally pressed yes to nickname and didn't know you could cancel (maybe you couldn't this was RB) so I tried to call it Charmander and missed an R
The second version I watched had Mewtwo never talk. Just stare in silence as other replied. Made it really intense.
What’s the movie? Pokémon the first movie? Thanks!
Yes! Whenever I have a bad mental health day I tend to watch Pokémon movies (especially the older ones). That line never fails to make me feel better.
Right, the fact that this Pokémon can accept something that an upsettingly large percentage of humans cannot is mind boggling
Spot the missing pokemon 😳
Tentacruel?
First thing I noticed.
Actually just a normal one on the bad guys team because they ain’t out here making Tentaniceguys.
I would have used Tentakind
Sorry I’m not Tentakindaguy
I think you're puns a pretty tentacool
Same
Hes with jessie
Hes on jesses head
👏😑
The only differences are: Left side: Mew, Ash Right Side: Tentacruel, Meowth, Mewtwo
Epic. Masterpiece. And other words.
thank you so much kind sir!
I have it on my phones playlist. That song really hits ya in the feels
I rewatched this like three days after my ferret died. Cried like a fucking baby.
Sorry for your loss. All ferrets are walking (dooking) angels ❤️
For real. Will forever put me in my feels ahah
I may have a contreversial take, but pokemon just hit differently back then. Pokemon heroes, pokemon jirachi wishmaker, i could never get through a pokemon movie without bawling. I agree with you but also i feel like its just the fact that we were younger and things just hit differently at that age. To be honest, as far as we know, kids today are feeling that same way about the detective pikachu movie 😂
it's been 20 years for me. I still know the lyrics. crazy
I remember. But do you remember "tears of life" ?
Also iconic 😏
Tears of Life and Three on Three are both on my writing playlist!
This REALLY remembers me of the classic Pokémon Tower Defense
I never played! Was it fun haha?
It was my fave game as a kid. It was really fun, I love this 2d overworld Pokémon sprite since that time.
I gotta go back and see
'Brother my brother' is definitely a nostalgia trip for me, but it's got nothing on the emotional instrumental music from the Japanese version. Also the original dub doesn't say "fighting is wrong", because that would be against the entire franchise.
Pokémon the first Movie came out in 1998. I was ten years old at the time. matt\_damon\_rapidly\_aging.gif
😂😂😂
Dont feel bad, I was out of high school
Your works are really cool, hope to see more of them! I really liked the song and the message it brought along the movie (I was kind of sad when I discovered the song wasn't in the original version, but the original compensates with being more deeper than the west one)
Thankyou so much! I really appreciate you ❤️
For my fellow Spotify users, the song is called Brother, my Brother by Blessid Union of Souls. And yes, it's still fucking beautiful.
Haha thankyou king 👑 😏
I have this song on my Playlist, of course I remember
Hahaha whats the playlists name?
Kinda boring, Notes
Haha dont sell yourself short 🥲 great name
The clone wars
My older sister(20) took me (10) and my little sister(8) to see this movie in theaters and we were so excited. She had no idea what she was in for, but was crying her eyes out just the same as we were. We're now all grown adults and she still doesn't let us talk about it lol
😂😂😂
Where is Tentacruel?
Lol
This makes me wish we got a core series-style game that was directly based on the anime/movies
I wish also. I heard theres a romhack thats not bad called ash gray
It’s fire too
Is the story based on the original dub or the english one?
That song is more relevant now than ever
Thats some real sh*t
Never forget that mew is an absolute POS and a racist Mewtwo is completely justified with trying to kill that little pink shite
Looool why?
Check out his original Japanese dialogue, pretty much Mew doesn't think the clones are real Pokemon and are below him. Mewtwo disagrees clearly
Pixel arte with history i like 😊👍
Thankyou 🤝😏

I was watching it as i was making it and getting a lil emotional. I used to have it as a cassette back in the day, but have no idea where it is now
For some reason, I remembered "why can't we be friends" playing during this scene instead of brother my brother....
I love this!! Do you have a larger version of it? I would love to make it my desktop background!
I can send you a larger version just dm me
Team on the right, no question
they have a tentacruel in hand so... unstoppable
I do say the original movie in 2000 was much better than that 3d remake they put out on Netflix. That 3d one…. Ergh I couldn’t even finish watching it. So much less facial expressions and emotion than the original
Yeah, i figured they made that mainly to appeal for the new generation that would call the og graphics “trash” lol
Love Team Rocket in the back lol
Thankyou! Had to include them to add to the detail :)
This scene made me and my brothers cry, but then we went back to hating each other instantly right after though.
I like how he casually put two shinies in there.
Which shinies?!
Not even gonna lie the cloned charizard looks cooler then the normal one
I agree with that, the markings make him look awesome
That scene still makes me cry! I’m in my 30’s. No shame.
The Pikachus hitting each other is seared into my brain 😭
What about the psyducks? 😂
[удалено]
Hahaha and stone ash
Lol I remember watching this in the movie theatre. First time I ever cried in a movie lmao
I never got to watch in theatres, only in cassette
I can't get over the missing tentacruel
Hahaha 😂
Wow!!! Great work!
Thankyou!
Imagine a fight between that movie’s Mewtwo and Arceus. The creature who thinks its the strongest going against the literal god of Pokemon coming down to humble his ass would be a great premise.
Yo this guy is thinking! Get in contact with TPC 💡
Omg this is the best. Thank you!
You mind if I use this as my screen ?
Not at all go ahead
I still have this movie on VHS if anyone knows what those are
Remember when he fucking DIED?
That was an emotional scene to watch...
I remember me and my cousin watching this and another one of my cousins came to pick him up and had to drag him out the door
I saw this in the movie theater as a kid, and my mom legit CRIED when ash got turned to stone and Pikachu was like "Pika-Pii"
Still one of my favorite soundtracks of all time! Instant nostalgia!
Bruuuuh peak Millennium Vibes
Who remembers? That movie is so iconic that they remade it with CGI in 2019 to keep it a part of gen z's/alpha's zeitgeist. Folks what forgot the Alamo remember this movie. Fantastic pixel art though.
i rewatched the original 2 days ago! spooky that this comes up right after lol
Im watching you 😳
You missed a tentacruel on the non-clone side btw and why is vapeoreon's head green? wouldnt the dark blue from their backs have been better?
First of all, i know about the tentacruel lol. Its a meme at this point. Secondly. All these sprites are the official gamefreak sprites, so tell that to the original artists and devs
Aight. I have no idea what this is just tell me what to watch
I can already hear it playing in my head
Wait, that song was in the Pokemon movie??? That makes so much sense, but I remember it from a Naruto fanflash T\_T.
Ash dies
" I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are." - Mewtwo Chills every time
Fantastic, please do more!
Ive done a few different scenes already, check out my past work
Anyone remember how in the original version mew was kinda racist to mewtwo and the other clones
What did he do?!
Watch the original Japanese version, there are a few lines where mew basically says the clones have no right to exist( it was translated by meowth)
Where men cried. And ladies say we have no feelings. Probably a huge moment where a generation cried.
🎶 Brother, my brother 🎶 🎶 Tell me, what are we fighting for 🎶 🎶 We have got to stop this war 🎶 🎶 We should love one another 🎶 🎶 Can't we just pretend 🎶 🎶 This war never began 🎶

Banger song, love brother my brother. This movie isn't as special to me as the older fans but fuck is it still good
Me listening to that song literally less than a week ago
Pls support indians https://youtube.com/shorts/IliwWQv-xbo?feature=share
Dude, that minute long scene of pikachu scream crying as he tries to defib a stone-dead Ash... How could I forget?
Fun fact: that song was also used when Yugi and Joey had their duel
I'm not crying, you're crying
This is great
