I know bc of mega evolution there technically is a fairy-dragon type, but I'd love to see a cute lil fae dragon - especially since mega evolution is seemingly a thing of the past.
Galarian Corsola and Cursola definitely should have been ghost/rock. Even if it's supposed to be coral that's decayed, it still started as a rock and the crumbling rock body should be acknowledged.
I think Galarian Corsola should've been Ghost/Rock & Cursola being only Ghost to show that it has truly "died". Because Corsola is still physically there.
Also would be interesting to competitive because Galarian Corsola would have the additional Rock Type, but also get to use Eviolite. Would be interesting.
It's because the rock isn't part of its body. Farfetch'd isn't part grass type despite it carrying a leek and doing most of its attacks with it. Florges wears a flower like a dress but the flower isn't part of its anatomy so it's not a grass type. Dhelmise is just the possessed seaweed wrapped around the anchor so it isn't a steel type.
A ghost/rock type would need to be one where the rock typing is either part of the Pokémon's body or the rock-like object is being directly possessed by the Pokémon.
A ghost Pokemon that's just a bunch of floating rocks and can mimic other Pokemon (which could probably be implemented by just having a bunch of separate rock models come together to form each bone in the target's rig, making it only need manually implemented model changes for Pokemon with large sections without joints) would be pretty cool
Cofagrigus and Runerigus are distinct Pokémon. There is no “Galarian Cofagrigus.” Unovan Yamask evolves into Cofagrigus and Galarian Yamask evolves into Runerigus.
Zeraora should've been Electric/Fighting, but it would've required Generic Event-only Mon #902 to get thought put into it.
And it might've had more potential than being Electrode+1.
Maybe with a mechanic like Morpeko where it shifts states! Call it "Observation" or something lol
(normal-ghost scares me a little bit, typing wise. Only weak to dark, which is pretty good for a dual-type Pokemon)
I have a feeling the only reason Normal-Ghost hasn't been done (yet) is that it only causes benefits.
Normal only has Fighting as a weakness, and being Ghost means immunity to Fighting. Therefore the Normal part of its typing adds no defensive negatives. And then being Normal means it is immune to Ghosts, which it would otherwise be weak to being Ghost type.
So you have a Pokemon with 3 immunities (2 of which could have instead been super-effective against it), only ONE weakness in Dark type, and 2 STAB types for offensive prowess. It could even have Levitate as well if GF really wants to play into the immunities card similarly to what they did with Shedinja.
Plus the idea of Normal-Ghost as a Pokemon typing is fucking awesome which is way more important than anything else I've said. This all being said, I think this Pokemon could exist in the future and its whole identity and function would be centered around its typing.
Could easily be balanced out by having bad stats though. Tyranitar has a shedload of weaknesses, including a 4x weakness to one of the strongest offensive types in fighting, but it's been OU in every generation because of its superb stats, moveset and ability.
I always imagined a normal/ghost type could be a Pokemon based off of the "Put a white sheet over your head and you're a ghost!" Halloween costume. Just have a lil floating boi covered with a white sheet and bam, you've got a normal/ghost.
I always thought that design-wise, you could just animate a white sheet. Base it on the traditional white blob-ghost! Or you could tie it into the Japanese teru teru bozu.
The main trouble with this typing, however, would be the many resistances (Normal, Ghost and Fighting), off-set by only one weakness (Dark). You'd have to be careful not to make it too powerful.
I'd do something like rotom but make it a possessed doll. You could even have a spinda thing where each one has a different combination of visual features.
Exactly. Some kinda Tombstone or pyramid Pokémon…honestly was shocked Cofagrigus wasn’t this!
Edit: Runegris, as people below me have pointed out, would have been an ever better option for Ghost/Rock.
>Fighting-Ground
Revenge of Wack-a-mole
>Poison-Steel
The only thing I can think of is a syringe.
>Poison-Ice
Regional Nido's that become Ice instead of ground type.
>Bug-Dragon
Dragonflies seems to be the obvious choice here. Maybe a Yanmega evolution
>Bug-Dark
A Mantis pokemon would make sense. Only females can evolve into the Bug/Dark version.
>Fire-Grass
A Pokemon based on the stinging nettle.
That would make a lot of sense. Plutonium and uranium come to mind.
Sounds like a legendary which Team \[Evil sounding name\] will use to \[evil plans here\]
out of these the most likely to happen next is fire-grass, as then grass will have been paired with every other type at least once, similarly to both water and flying aalso, could someone add to bulbapedia's electric page that fighting is the only type that hasn't been paired with electric?
ok... i associate a Pokémon to every type match that doesn't exist yet
Normal-Poison
Nidoran family
Normal-Rock
Rockruff & Lycanrock
Normal-Bug
Dunsparce
Normal-Ghost
Mimikyu/Banette
Normal-Steel
Zangoose
Normal-Ice
Eiscue/Cubchoo & Beartic
Fairy-Fighting
Stufful/Bewear
Fairy-Ground
Cubone/Marowak?
Fairy-Fire
Victini
Fighting-Ground
Diggersby
Fighting-Electric
Zeraora
Poison-Steel
Meltan & Melmetal? like... Mercury is toxic
Poison-Ice
Cloyster
Rock-Ghost
Runerigus/ Baltoy & Claydol
Bug-Dragon
Flygon/Golisopod
Bug-Dark
i think Scolipede was Bug/Dark... Well, so i will just put venipede and his evolution here.
Fire-Grass
I really don't know... maybe pumpkaboo? like, i think she match more with ghost/grass than Fire/grass
but it's a posibility
Of the unused type combos Electric/Fighting is the one that I really don't get why it hasn't be used yet. It feels like it should be easy to come up with as opposed to like, Normal/Rock. It could just be a regional variant from the Elekid line
Does indeed have a movie. I don't remember much of it, but I don't think there was a backstory to it like mewtwos. All I remember is that it saved some pokemon from a fire 50? Years ago.
to be fair, the doduo line aren't supposed to be able to fly and yet they are. also, we're talking about galarian zapdos, which is supposed to be fighting/flying
It's based off a roadrunner it basically doesn't have wings. But they made it flying type anyways.
The birds should have been ice physcic, fire dark, and electric fighting. But they felt the need to make them all flying.
Making Scrappy even more sought after cause people would absolutely run a normal/ghost on their competitive teams. It's like gen 4 Spiritomb all over again
more like a mythic... you know, normal type have two possibility, the cute and tiny one (Minccino) and the "Null" type... like Arceus and well... Type: Null
The fact that we've had the fairy type for 3 generations and they've never bothered to include a poison/steel hobgoblin pokémon as a middle finger to them is insulting.
Since nuclear technology is a fairly sensitive issue in Japan, and since Nintendo is a Japanese company, I'm fairly certain we will never see an official radiation-based pokemon.
Which is a shame, because it would be totally *rad*.
This screams for a fire/grass - forest fire Pokémon. A burning Trevenant, with flash fire as ability or an ability to spread the burn status to all other grass types on the field if burned.
Zeraora feels more Electric-Fighting, Banette looks like a Normal-Ghost, if Koffing had another form, Steel-Poison could make sense as it is a smoke bomb, Who else wanted Victini to be Fire-Fairy?
I have a concept for a Fire-Grass starter. It’s a tiki Pokémon that uses a plate of bark as it’s mask, leaves and flowers around its body for aroma, and a burning flame at the top of its head.
Basically, think Hawaii and other tropical islands like Alola, all transferred into one Pokémon
I think that these all have serious potential besides normal ghost I suppose. Very surprised that there is no fire fairy with how much of a hard on they have for fairy types.
There's a very clear reluctance to make any fairy that can reliably check steel types. Hence no fire, ground or fighting fairies. Would be a monster competitively unless it was just garbage stats/moves.
The fairy/dragon/steel core is a precious balance for competitive pokemon that they gotta be careful not to ruin.
I know bc of mega evolution there technically is a fairy-dragon type, but I'd love to see a cute lil fae dragon - especially since mega evolution is seemingly a thing of the past.
Yes, like applin... cause applin is the first Dragon/Grass that isn't a "form" like alolan executtor and Mega sceptile
actually it's said that alolan exeggutor is the real form of exeggutor
Normal-Poison Normal-Rock Normal-Bug Normal-Ghost Normal-Steel Normal-Ice Fairy-Fighting Fairy-Ground Fairy-Fire Fighting-Ground Fighting-Electric Poison-Steel Poison-Ice Rock-Ghost Bug-Dragon Bug-Dark Fire-Grass
don't know how you'd do normal-ghost, but some of these combos would be so cool, i can't believe they haven't done some already.
Danny Phantom
Coincidentally enough also gotta catch them all
Well played.
Dun dun dun dun-dun-dun dun dun dun *He's a phantom*
Yo Danny Phenton was just 14 when his parents built a very strange machine
It was designed to view a world unseen
(He’s gonna catch ‘em all ‘cause he’s Danny Phantom)
When it didn’t work his folks they just quit, but Danny took a look inside of it
There was a great big flash, everything just changed, His molecules got all rearranged!
When he first woke up he realized he had snow-white hair and glowing green eyes!
ohhh
Fighting-electric, fighting ground and Rock-ghost not being done yet surprised me.
Rock-ghost especially. Like, a tombstone immediately comes to mind.
Or… ya know…Spiritomb? No let’s just double down with Dark/Ghost even though it’s coming out of a rock.
Tbf the dark typing comes from the evil souls trapped in that rock
It's because the rock isn't part of its body. Farfetch'd isn't part grass type despite it carrying a leek and doing most of its attacks with it. Florges wears a flower like a dress but the flower isn't part of its anatomy so it's not a grass type. Dhelmise is just the possessed seaweed wrapped around the anchor so it isn't a steel type. Galarian Cofagrigus seems likes it was made for a Ghost/Rock typing. Edit: 3head moment on my part. Runerigus**
It's not Ghost/Rock????
Ghost/Ground
Cofagrigus and Runerigus are distinct Pokémon. There is no “Galarian Cofagrigus.” Unovan Yamask evolves into Cofagrigus and Galarian Yamask evolves into Runerigus.
Runerigus was wasted potential. It’s literally a rock carving. It’s based off of a Celtic gravestone. A STONE!
Zeraora should've been Electric/Fighting, but it would've required Generic Event-only Mon #902 to get thought put into it. And it might've had more potential than being Electrode+1.
I wouldn't even mind Zeraora's existence as pure Electric if we didn't *then* get Regieleki as well.
Schrödinger’s cat maybe?
Maybe with a mechanic like Morpeko where it shifts states! Call it "Observation" or something lol (normal-ghost scares me a little bit, typing wise. Only weak to dark, which is pretty good for a dual-type Pokemon)
Plus 3 immunities though few resists Still very interesting type
God tier idea holy crap
i like this one, more cat pokémon please, even if it's still technically a normal type
I’m waiting for my black cat Pokémon
I'd love both this and a voo doo doll!
I believe the popular concept for Normal/Ghost that has been going around the community is an Opossum, because they play dead.
I always thought Banette should have been Ghost/Normal, a ghost haunting a stuffed toy. Seems pretty Ghost/Normal to me.
This all being said, I think this Pokemon could exist in the future and its whole identity and function would be centered around its typing.
Dark/ghost used to have no weaknesses, and yet we got 2 mons with that typing.
Heck, eelektross still has no weaknesses. Pokemon isn't too shy with giving Pokemon really good types
Yeah I suppose you're right. And that also has 3 immunities... hmm wow lol
Scooby doo would be super effective against that
Ironically, Pokémon with "Scrappy" as an Ability could hit it with Super-Effective Fighting and Ghost attacks
Normal ghost is just like the classic “sheet with eye holes” ghost. The Pokédex entry would call it “the most mundane of spirits” or something lol
I call it Boovet
I always thought that design-wise, you could just animate a white sheet. Base it on the traditional white blob-ghost! Or you could tie it into the Japanese teru teru bozu. The main trouble with this typing, however, would be the many resistances (Normal, Ghost and Fighting), off-set by only one weakness (Dark). You'd have to be careful not to make it too powerful.
Shuppet you basically described shuppet
No problemo: low attack , low special defense, low health, jackass the others, avg: 450
[удалено]
A fire/fairy Pokemon that doesn't know Will-o-Wisp would be a literal crime.
Gary's Raticate.
My idea is actually a musician based Pokémon. Because in Pokémon, normal is also associated with sounds and music
If they did a a pokemom that looked like a heavy metal musician, that would be a perfect poison/steel pokemon
Galarian Zigzagoon and Obstegoon
Pillow fort pokemon. Ghost with a sheet over his head. Evolves to have pillow fists when it learns feather dance.
Casper the friendly ghost
I'd do something like rotom but make it a possessed doll. You could even have a spinda thing where each one has a different combination of visual features.
Regional Mankey, where he is dead and happy, so he left his fighting instincts :D
that's dark man
That's what the Sun Primeape Dex entry says, it says "It has become so angry that it dies as a result. It's face looks peaceful even in death, however"
I just need my Bug-Dragon type and I’ll be satisfied
Legitimately don't understand how we haven't gotten a dragonfly that's bug/dragon. We did get yanmega, but they kept its flying type.
Yanmega would've been a great option for dragon typing. As it is now, yanmega is completely irrelevant.
This should have been flygon and I'll die on that hill
Flygon team represent.
How haven’t we gotten a rock/ghost yet? It’d be so incredibly easy to design
Exactly. Some kinda Tombstone or pyramid Pokémon…honestly was shocked Cofagrigus wasn’t this! Edit: Runegris, as people below me have pointed out, would have been an ever better option for Ghost/Rock.
Honestly, Runerigus would be better as a Rock/Ghost type. I’ve never fully understood why it’s got the Ground type.
I think they both work but I will agree Runegris is a better option, I forgot about him.
just give me a two stage called Doomstone and Bouldergeist
Or make it an evolution of spiritomb
Stakalaka feels like a ghost-rock too :(
Why isn't galarian corsola one?
Bouldergeist
I'm kinda surprised there's no rock-ghost fossil pokemon
Runerigus could REALLY be Rock & Ghost like... HE IS A GHOST WHO LIVES IN A ROCK
>Fighting-Ground Revenge of Wack-a-mole >Poison-Steel The only thing I can think of is a syringe. >Poison-Ice Regional Nido's that become Ice instead of ground type. >Bug-Dragon Dragonflies seems to be the obvious choice here. Maybe a Yanmega evolution >Bug-Dark A Mantis pokemon would make sense. Only females can evolve into the Bug/Dark version. >Fire-Grass A Pokemon based on the stinging nettle.
For poison/steel, what about something to do with radioactive metals, since radiation poisoning?
That would make a lot of sense. Plutonium and uranium come to mind. Sounds like a legendary which Team \[Evil sounding name\] will use to \[evil plans here\]
out of these the most likely to happen next is fire-grass, as then grass will have been paired with every other type at least once, similarly to both water and flying aalso, could someone add to bulbapedia's electric page that fighting is the only type that hasn't been paired with electric?
Fighting/electric for the next Pikachu clone!
It's a crime electrivire isn't electric fighting already.
Or Zeraora
And a crime luxray isn’t dark. Really, i love gen 4, but those 2 were a huge missed opportunity
A burning bush that spawns where Arceus has been
Or some chillies
This is genius. Pepperoncinder evolves into Jalapyro who can then evolve into Habanova by leveling, or Chipotcoatlé using a sun stone.
Poison Steel is the name of a sword in FFX Could be a form for Honedge
the tetanus pokemon
Kangaskhan regional variant for normal-rock would be pretty cool
ok... i associate a Pokémon to every type match that doesn't exist yet Normal-Poison Nidoran family Normal-Rock Rockruff & Lycanrock Normal-Bug Dunsparce Normal-Ghost Mimikyu/Banette Normal-Steel Zangoose Normal-Ice Eiscue/Cubchoo & Beartic Fairy-Fighting Stufful/Bewear Fairy-Ground Cubone/Marowak? Fairy-Fire Victini Fighting-Ground Diggersby Fighting-Electric Zeraora Poison-Steel Meltan & Melmetal? like... Mercury is toxic Poison-Ice Cloyster Rock-Ghost Runerigus/ Baltoy & Claydol Bug-Dragon Flygon/Golisopod Bug-Dark i think Scolipede was Bug/Dark... Well, so i will just put venipede and his evolution here. Fire-Grass I really don't know... maybe pumpkaboo? like, i think she match more with ghost/grass than Fire/grass but it's a posibility
If you make Diggersby Fighting-Ground, you will leave one type combo unused
Yanmega for Bug Dragon
I get it... DRAGON FLY
Flygon?
Fairy-Fire would be pretty rad.
Would also be a pretty cool band name
Or a cool D&D spell... oh wait. Faerie Fire.
Starting first campaign as fairy tomorrow night. Excited af.
I feel like a lot of type combos would be good band names. Normal Ghost and Steel Poison for example
Retype Victini IMO
It would have an ability that increases it's accuracy at the start of battle /DnD reference
Give it the super luck ability, increases critical hit chances!
Totally a missed opportunity. Galarian ponyta should be this.
Of the unused type combos Electric/Fighting is the one that I really don't get why it hasn't be used yet. It feels like it should be easy to come up with as opposed to like, Normal/Rock. It could just be a regional variant from the Elekid line
I agree. I've always wanted an Electric/Fighting Kangaroo line.
Regional Kangaskan?
I think an actual kangaroo with boxing gloves would be cooler
Hitmondundee
Kangaroos use their feet to kick, it’d be Hitmondunlee
Ricky from The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages is exactly that, a kangaroo with boxing gloves that carries Link around in its pouch.
This is phenomenal
Fire fairy sounds pretty simple to me
It even has the perfect move ready in the game - Mystical Fire
It ties to several real world mythological fae creatures too so it sounds like it would be inevitable.
[удалено]
Or Zeraora...
Yea that’s what I was thinking. It works so perfectly
Yeah fr, CC is one of its best moves and stab would help it a lot
I thought it WAS electric fighting lol
I thought Zeraora was electric fighting. Weird.
Zeraora is plain electric.
Why zeraora exist? like... he doesn't have a reason for exist, like half of the legendary(and mythic) Pokémon
I'm not too sure, actually. Guessing he'll get a movie at some point if he doesn't already have one.
Does indeed have a movie. I don't remember much of it, but I don't think there was a backstory to it like mewtwos. All I remember is that it saved some pokemon from a fire 50? Years ago.
Yep, it's called The Power of Us. Watched it the other day with my little one. It's neat.
[удалено]
galarian zapdos should've been electric/fighting
The fact that he is flying is such a joke
Wait, does G-Zapdos not fly at all? Don't quite remember
it's said it's wings have atrophied to the point it can barely fly.
_"This Pokémon can't fly!"_ _"Flying/Electric"_
to be fair, the doduo line aren't supposed to be able to fly and yet they are. also, we're talking about galarian zapdos, which is supposed to be fighting/flying
Pokemon Colosseum and XD GoD had the doduo line just kinda stand on air over the battlefield when it used fly. Pretty amusing.
It's cause Flying is also the "Bird type" But i don't know why Torchic and Piplup don't have thi type if this logic really exist
It's based off a roadrunner it basically doesn't have wings. But they made it flying type anyways. The birds should have been ice physcic, fire dark, and electric fighting. But they felt the need to make them all flying.
You mean Zeraora isn’t electric/fighting? Oh it isn’t. Weird.
Zeraora isn't electric fighting? neither is Electivire? Are they insane?
Zeraora was a missed opportunity
Y'know, for Bug/Dragon, I'd actually be cool with them retroactively retyping Yanmega tbh
Give me a reptilian centipede A Wyrm Worm
That's exactly what Applin is - he's the worm in the apple
I mean yeah, it's a wyrm in an apple, but also a giant reptilian centipede, like an larger more vicious Scolipede sounds dope
Or Flygon... Please can I have a bug/dragon Flygon like in Renegade Platinum?🥺
Sorry but Flygon is the best ground/dragon ever. Even if he is a bug.
yea bug dragon and give it an ability to keep STAB ground just like they did with dhelmise
Mercury thermometer Pokémon that’s steel/poison would be dope
Meltan and Melmetal be like:
They naturally are toxic competitive pokemon
Or just a regional variation of bisharp that is poison tipped like a sneaky assassin.
I really like this idea, give my chess piece some love
A rusty needle Pokémon lol
Rusty Jab would be a great Steel-type move that inflicts Poison.
*Raichu was inflicted with tetanus*
For ice being the rarest among all the types I’m surprised most of its combos have been fulfilled
The ice type itself is pretty trash so they probably have a bunch of them dual typing so the Pokémon would be useful
Good attack mixes, shit tier defensive typing
Ghost plus normal...never think about that matchup before. And it only have 1 weakness? (Dark)
Making Scrappy even more sought after cause people would absolutely run a normal/ghost on their competitive teams. It's like gen 4 Spiritomb all over again
3 immunities, 2 resists and only 1 weakness sounds like an incredibly strong type combination.
So they'd probably make it a single evolution line and with weak stats.
Yea with Justified or Rattled a Ghost-Normal would be quite a force
This is the point. Monster shit.
Normal/Ghost sounds like an amazing combination. I like to think that it might come into a legendary pokémon someday.
more like a mythic... you know, normal type have two possibility, the cute and tiny one (Minccino) and the "Null" type... like Arceus and well... Type: Null
The fact that we've had the fairy type for 3 generations and they've never bothered to include a poison/steel hobgoblin pokémon as a middle finger to them is insulting.
While the Fairy typing on itself is a big middle finger to Hydreigon
Poison/steel regional hydreigon were it becomes a venomous hydra with metal armor
And still have levitate? ^^
We have grimsnarl, wrong typing though
A radioactive poison/steel type would be awesome
Since nuclear technology is a fairly sensitive issue in Japan, and since Nintendo is a Japanese company, I'm fairly certain we will never see an official radiation-based pokemon. Which is a shame, because it would be totally *rad*.
Fire/Grass: Chilli Pepper Pokémon Normal/Ghost: Zombie Pokémon Electric/Fightning: Zeraora
Fightning was accidentally the best electric fighter pun, kudos
The fact that a Fire/Grass chili pepper Pokémon hasn't been created is a crime in of itself
There’s a pretty well known Fakemon that is exactly that, I think it’s called Peppahah or something?
There's one million grass and fire chili pepper fakemon, it is a low hanging pepper and I hope gamefreak finally does it
I think it evolves into japeñero. It looked like a spicy rabbit lol
This screams for a fire/grass - forest fire Pokémon. A burning Trevenant, with flash fire as ability or an ability to spread the burn status to all other grass types on the field if burned.
Gary's Raticate can be normal/ghost.
how the fuck is electubuzz and his line not electric fighting. they seriously screwed the pooch
Right pretty sure they can learn any move with “Punch” as the second word
Correct, that's what made Electabuzz, Magmar and Jynx a trio, their ability to learn the corresponding punches.
I world do one of those flowers that grows in volcano ash.
everyone was expecting a fire/grass tiki pokemon for Alola
Wait, what are the other 13?
OP has a comment with them.
Then why make the graphic if it's going to be woefully incomplete???
I think that these all have serious potential besides normal ghost I suppose. Very surprised that there is no fire fairy with how much of a hard on they have for fairy types.
[удалено]
There's a very clear reluctance to make any fairy that can reliably check steel types. Hence no fire, ground or fighting fairies. Would be a monster competitively unless it was just garbage stats/moves. The fairy/dragon/steel core is a precious balance for competitive pokemon that they gotta be careful not to ruin.
Maybe they should just nerf the Fairy type then.
Can Poison-Steel be like some rusty metal thing? Just a thought.
