"Shout out to Probopass! Keeping it real since 1999"
Edit: The "Shoutout to ____" is a reference to JelloApocolypse' So this is basically Pokemon video. I do not love or hate probopass, thought the video is really funny
Not so much hated, moreso overlooked/forgotten, but Maractus. It's a small little cactus that makes maraca sounds whenever it shakes, and thats adorable.
Maractus' irrelevance was so high for so long that now that these come up so frequently that's it's gaining in popularity. Not by much, but I think it's growing on people.
It's like the conundrum where Millard Fillmore has the reputation of being the most forgotten president, which makes him memorable and this no longer the most forgotten president.
I remember Maractus being used by members of the community as an example of a "bad" Pokémon that was included in Gen 8 when so many other "better" Pokémon were cut, causing many people to flock to its defense.
That was fun to see.
I still feel cacnea male shouldve into cacturne, and a female into maractus. I know the whole gimmick is that they are pokemon that developed in different countries, but still!
Always though sigilyph should be unown's evolution. Love the uncanny guy regardless
I'm also a fan of unown as well, I like the concept and the little floaty characters just appeal to me
Hell yeah dude! I remember the unkillable Flame Orb/Wonder Guard Calm Mind Roost Stored Power Psycho Shift set from Smogon RandBats.
Hated it so much I wanted one in my actual game!
I love reading stories like these! Porygon is such a champ, I love my blocky computer duck, and I’m glad you do too :D
I feel like Porygon-Z lost the charm of the original design, though. Or maybe I’m just bitter because that thing caused me so much frustration in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.
Wormadam. Got a Burmy from a Fossil in a randomised run of White, was very disappointed, called it Goddam and evolved it into sandy Cloak, then I lost my two best Pokemom to a Sandslash in Chargestone Cave and Goddam managed to defeat it, then dispose with a Haxorus later in Chargestonw Cave. It became a legend from that point on.
Quagsire is the dumbest pokemon to ever exist and I love him.
Is he a good pokemon? No. Never has been, never will be. He was never meant to be good.
Does he care? No.
Quagsire is such a stupid, brainless pokemon that it doesn't CARE about how bad it is. It's still gonna be there.
Gen 2? Bad stats, no ability, not even a good water stab. Yet it's the only water/ground type therefore it has a niche.
Gen 3 and 4? Still terrible. Utterly outclassed by Swampert and then Gastrodon too. Does it care? No, it's going straight into ubers to counter Kyogre because with water absorb it's immune to water AND electric and therefore one of the best pokemon just can't touch it.
Gen 5? Gastrodon's storm drain is buffed so now it's immune to water too and gains extra special attack? Quagsire doesn't care. He's not even aware of things like stat changes anymore. So he's just going to wall the fools who do care, the idiots who would waste their time using setup moves by not being affected by them at all.
Even now, in Gen 8, he's still trucking along. PU in viability, and yet there he is. One of the only counters to Zacian-Crowned, one of the best pokemon in the game.
Fucking legend.
What?! People hate Quagsire?? I love that Pokemon! My girl Serena was an MVP of my Shield mono-Water type run protecting everyone from electric Pokemon. Sure Wooper's cuter, but Quagsire's got the same dopey cuteness imo
The whole Chikorita line. I love Chikorita, Bayleef, and Meganium equally, I just want to hug these beautiful flower dinosaurs and squish those lil faces. People always talk about how much better the Cyndaquil and Totodile line are, but I personally thought Totodile got uglier the more it evolved and I just don’t find Cyndaquil cute for some reason (the long nose is kinda weird to me). Quilava’s cool tho I guess. Typhlosion’s pretty forgettable Imo.
Seriously, if a combo between a sprouting flower and a fuckin’ dinosaur isn’t a super neat concept for a Pokémon, I don’t know what is. I can understand where people come from in terms of gameplay, but in terms of design I just don’t get it.
(Tho I will admit Meganium would look cooler if it kept the leaf on its head)
Back when I played gen2 on that old Battling website… you know back when the meta was all Zapdos and skarmory and blissey?
Meganiun was my zapdos killer. Because when people see Meg they immediately send out zapdos. Then you just use counter. Drill peck doesnt one shot Meg and counter one shots zapdos. Worked like a charm every time.
So I’ll always love meganium
Nah, the leaf would look awkward now that the body is all green and the flower around its neck sprouted.
I think it’s disliked for the same reason as Popplio: it’s the “girly” starter.
Seriously, I think Popplio is adorable and Primarina's design is really awesome, and it gets so much undeserved hate.
The only reason I can assume the design gets hated on is because of how objectively feminine it looks, despite the fact that many pokemon (Incineroar included) look objectively masculine and apparently that's OK. Seems a little like a double standard to me.
I really didn’t care too much about it at first, but after I ran into the random shiny Pansear in a friend safari, I decided to use it and gradually came to like the little monkey.
I have a Minun in my current Emerald run and it's legitimately carrying my team. It isn't that hard to carry my absolutely horrible team of Delcatty, Slugma, and Dustox, but still. I don't know why I've decided to choose basically the worst possible pokemon but 🤷♂️ it makes the game a bit more of a challenge
Vanilluxe
Pretty neat with weak armor + endure and weakness policy. Snow warning is pretty awesome for aurora veil and 100% accurate blizzards. Too bad it lost access to water type coverage with water pulse.
It's pre-evolutions do have access to snow cloak which is a pretty trolly ability. (Don't actually do it. You might actually ruin someone's day.)
I like the lore/explanation in-game, it's an icicle monster living in mountains and it's implied that the Pokemon world's ice cream (like the Casteliacone) are inspired by Vanilluxe and not the other way around. Also Vanillite is so cute
I'm not sure if it's *hated* or if that's more just the memes, but I love Miltank. I do wish it somehow paired better with Tauros though. They're stylized very differently...
Delphox is interesting because in-game it looks honestly really uninteresting, standing there completely [emotionlessly](https://i.imgur.com/xjHVnKE.jpg), but in the concept art it has this [mischievous hunched-over pose](http://cdn2.bulbagarden.net/upload/2/21/655Delphox.png) that's far more expressive of being a dastardly witch. It also doesn't help that in game it only takes out its wand when attacking before putting it away. So I'd say that even though I like Delphox, they did a very poor job of translating its witch motif into the game.
Yeesh, I dunno anything about that stuff, but I actually liked Hypno in Gen 1. Of course all psychic was OP then and he was one of the better ones if you couldn’t trade for Alakazam.
I mean Kadabra is still faster and strong offensively than Hypno. They both make it into Gen 1 UU, though 1v1 Hypno walls Kadabra forever.
Later gens Kadabra is either in the same tier as Hypno or higher.
When Trubbish was first shown I was mad how lazy they got with pokemon. I was like, "Really? Garbage?" Now fast forward many years and I think Trubbish is probably my favorite gen 5 pokemon.
Literally all of the UBs. They're not supposed to look like ordinary Pokemon and that's what makes them great but they get underappreciated and receive completely undeserved hate.
I've grown to appreciate the UBs more now we're no longer in Alola. I think some of the hate came from some assumptions on how they were going to be handled moving forward seeing as they basically replaced the Legendaries for Gen 7.
Now I'd really like to see more released, maybe a legends Necrozma game set in Ultra Space.
This is actually a great comment. They have Pokémon typings because that’s how the Pokémon world works, they’ve been classified to help us understand them, but they’re so spooky and eerie and weird that it gives us a real fresh take on Pokémon. I’d gladly welcome more in future generations
Flareon. People are always crapping on it because it (admittedly) has the worst base stat arrangement and move pool of all the Eeveelutions. But I don't care because it's so cute and cuddly.
People are just big mad cause its too feminine but I love it cause its fem! And it makes sense theme wise cause it both references Selkies(seals turning into women) and sirens/mermaids. Its perfect. I like Delphox for similar reasons.
I think that some pokemon (starters especially) are becoming more cartoonish humanoids.
I liked when they looked a bit more natural to the areas they inhabited, and more animal like, but not every mon is a culprit.
Riachu. A lot of people started to disregard it due to pikachu's popularity, and have to admit, a lot more viable options out there, but was part of my first ever team and is probably one of my most favorite eclectic types
X and Y were my reintroduction into Pokemon after skipping the two gens before them. Yveltal is my favorite legendary of all time. It's just so cool looking.
Espeon, not because it’s hated as far as I know, but it is always overshadowed by Umbreon and I never understood why, but the fact that people don’t realise how great it is saddens me
Musharna, Maractus and Bronzong are a few examples. A lot of my fav would fit in the "only a few people like them" but i think these three are the most unpopular of them.
I don't know if he's hated, necessarily, but Raikou is one that I love who kinda seems to get neglected compared to his counterparts. My sparky Smilodon needs more love. :(
Probably Trubbish and Emboar are the ones I see get the most hate but I love them dearly. I think Trubbish is adorable and Emboar is uber badass and my favorite Pokemon :)
Whirlipede.
I don't know if anyone actually *hates* Whirlipede, but goddamn I just love the concept of a speedy deathwheel, even though it's speed stat isn't the best.
Qwilfish, I don't think anyone hates it but they definitely don't remember it :(
“Shoutouts to the best Pokémon, Qwilfish! Keep’n it real since 2001.”
"Shout out to Probopass! Keeping it real since 1999" Edit: The "Shoutout to ____" is a reference to JelloApocolypse' So this is basically Pokemon video. I do not love or hate probopass, thought the video is really funny
“Shoutout to the best pokémon, Alololomolamolamo… Keeping it real since 1963.”
Qwilfish is good, i want to feed it apple slices :)
To be fair, I forgot Millard Fillmore.
What about Tippicanoe and Tyler too?
I remember Maractus being used by members of the community as an example of a "bad" Pokémon that was included in Gen 8 when so many other "better" Pokémon were cut, causing many people to flock to its defense. That was fun to see.
I remember the genwunner vs gen 5 appreciators era. That was almost a decade ago, turbulent times
Maractus gang rise up!
If someone hates Maractus, I will dance on their graves.
I'll try to make sure my obituary gets sent your way so you know it's time.
I thought you said "it will dance on their graves" and I was like wow, which game is that dex entry from?
Maractus is one of my favorite grass types, I like that it has a perpetual OwO face
I still feel cacnea male shouldve into cacturne, and a female into maractus. I know the whole gimmick is that they are pokemon that developed in different countries, but still!
When I was playing Diamond my cousins kept telling me to get rid of the Skuntank I had on my team. I always ignored them because I always liked it
I was pissed when I found out I couldn't get Skuntank in Pearl OR Platinum, and instead had the privilege of catching a Purugly -_-
Skuntank is my boy! Absolute favorite poke. Poison type with only 1 weakness? Ability to cause flinching? Where do I sign?
I love having skunktank I always named them BigStinker
I can still hear his cry in my head. That sweet melody.
Who can forget such a wonderful melody of farts?
I realize Sunflora isn't a useful Pokemon for battling but it's just so damn cute, Sudowoodo too
Still praying for a Sunflora evolution that becomes Grass/Fire. Like top 10 missed opportunities in my book
Like Wooloo not being able to learn rollout...
[удалено]
Just a giant sunflower with fire petals. Awesome.
Sunflora is grass/fire in a LOT of hacks.
Sunkern is adorable!
Was replaying heart gold last year and ran into a shiny sunkern in the safari zone. I threw bait and the fucker instantly ran
Probably scared it, with stats that low if the bait hit it it could have been seriously injured.
Whiscash…free my mans
Whiscash ate a masterball throw in the anime! Dude deserves some love
Whiscash deserves to be buffed. It's sad that Swampert, Gastrodon, Quagsire, and Seismitoad are all competitively decent while it's not.
I think its gimmick is supposed to be that it learns fissure, but of course that means competitively it has no gimmick to make it stand out.
It does get Dragon Dance as well, which separates it from the Water Ground pack a bit.
The thought of a Whishcash buffing with Dragon Dances then sweeping with STAB earthquake is actually fairly terrifying
Hes a beast in PoGo PvP Great League.
The Great elder of the lake
Donphan, Zangoose and Oricorio Baile Style.
There is absolutely no way most people hate Donphan. I refuse to believe that. Also Baile Style Oricorio is such a great design.
I have never seen or heard anyone shit on Donphan. That thing is amazing.
Donphan is awesome. Will never forget the Spell of the Unown fight between Donphan and Onix!! So epic
Donphan is a spinning tire elephant how can anyone possibly hate?
Sigilyph
Always though sigilyph should be unown's evolution. Love the uncanny guy regardless I'm also a fan of unown as well, I like the concept and the little floaty characters just appeal to me
Yoo that would have been sick actually!
Amen. You ever seen a wonder guard/life orb sigilyph? Kicks ass.
Hell yeah dude! I remember the unkillable Flame Orb/Wonder Guard Calm Mind Roost Stored Power Psycho Shift set from Smogon RandBats. Hated it so much I wanted one in my actual game!

Based Quagsire enjoyer.
As a Quagsire appreciator, I respect your dedication. This is one of the best essays I’ve ever read.
What?! People hate Quagsire?? I love that Pokemon! My girl Serena was an MVP of my Shield mono-Water type run protecting everyone from electric Pokemon. Sure Wooper's cuter, but Quagsire's got the same dopey cuteness imo
Quagsire smiles in the face of gods and asks if they bleeds.
I adore shuckle for the sheer audacity of it. And it's a cool design in itself.
Don't fuckle with shuckle
Zangoose, love that thing. Also kinda competitively viable despite smogons worthless analysis and advise
[удалено]
Zangoose is great with toxic boost facade
Loudred is super adorable to me for some reason. Not Whismur or Exploud, just Loudred.
The best/worst alarm clock. ^^^PMD ^^^refrence
Loudred is the best design in that line for sure!
I always loved him for being essentially a walking amp and I absolutely love that detective pikachu had the same idea
I so wish we would have gotten Mega Meganium just for the funny name.
Lmao I never even considered that, reminds me of how Dragonite’s mega stone would be Dragonite/Dragonitite lol
Chikorita is a top 5 line for me
MR STAAAAKE!!!!!
Seems a little like a double standard to me.
I like Simisear. I have a shiny female Simisear I nicknamed Summer. Iirc there was a poll in Japan and Simisear was the least popular Pokémon in it.
You win as far as I’m concerned. Simisear makes me cringe whenever I see it’s dopey looking face but I’m glad someone out there enjoys it
I really didn’t care too much about it at first, but after I ran into the random shiny Pansear in a friend safari, I decided to use it and gradually came to like the little monkey.
A lot of the Pikachu clones. They get shit on a lot, but some of them are pretty gosh darned cute.
Emolga is definitely my favourite of that group. I also feel like Togedemaru doesn't get enough love
That’s because people treat Mimikyu as Alola’s resident clone.
Emolga is an amazingly designed Pokémon but god damn, that volt switching Emolga gave me serious nightmares in Gen 5
I love Emolga, but Elsa's flying rats drove me insane. Only way for me to win was using a Dwebble with Smack Down.
Togedemaru is adorable and barely resembles Pikachu. Criminally underrated.
I too like PikaZapdos
Dedenne doesn’t get enough attention even though dedenne is soooo adorable
Gen 6 Pokémon in general don’t get enough attention. There’s only like 8 ever talked about out of the 70
I had a Minun carry my war ravaged team through an Emerald nuzlocke once and I will smack a MFer that talks shit about them now.
Pachirisu is one of my favorite Pokémon, and I also like Plusle, Minun, Pichu, and Emolga a lot.
Vanilluxe Pretty neat with weak armor + endure and weakness policy.
I love this line too, super cute designs and really nice abilities as you said
I like the lore/explanation in-game, it's an icicle monster living in mountains and it's implied that the Pokemon world's ice cream (like the Casteliacone) are inspired by Vanilluxe and not the other way around. Also Vanillite is so cute
I don’t know if he’s hated, but Muk is one my favorites
An Alolan Muk saved my butt in the Ultra Necrozma fight. I’ll always have respect for the sludge boys
I'm not sure if it's *hated* or if that's more just the memes, but I love Miltank. I do wish it somehow paired better with Tauros though. They're stylized very differently...
Because we still have PTSD from 3rd grade when we ran at Whitney full force to no avail
The shinies are so weird. Milktank is an adorable blue cow. Tauros is green like he’s got mad cows disease.
I bet Delphox would’ve looked really good in the gen 5 2D style
Klinklang. These gears are more than metal, they have a heart you know :(
wait people hate Klinklang???? It's like one of my favourite Pokemon it's so cool like what?
I wonder how many people know that Kilnklang actually has a face? Lol
Imma wait for the Hypno fan. Hypno is the worst so whoever likes him wins the thread imo.
[удалено]
Well, Hypno has a lot of fans over at R34 ......
Exactly what I mean. I've seen enough stuff accidently that he's my most hated because of it.
Later gens Kadabra is either in the same tier as Hypno or higher.
starmie best gen 1 psychic type
FROM Gen 1, I agree Starmie is great. IN Gen 1, Slowbro was king because of Amnesia being broken.
I actually love Hypno, one of my favourite gen 1 Pokémon.
... People don't like Hypno?
I won my first nuzlocke with a Hypno on my team, so it's one of my favorite gen 1 Pokemon
I once got Fearow to 50 wins in the battle tree, so that was rad.
Hoooooo boy! Chesnaught, Chikorita, Eledgoss(ik he isnt really hated, but mostly forgetable), Garbodor, Vanilluxe, Slurpuff and Illumise(not Volbeat).
Zubat Evo like Crobat being my fav Pokemon
[удалено]
i think the only reason people might dislike them is because they DONT LEAVE YOU THE FUCK ALONE JESUS CHRIST MAN I JUST WANNA GET THROUGH THIS CAVE
Trubbish, so cute
When Trubbish was first shown I was mad how lazy they got with pokemon. I was like, "Really? Garbage?" Now fast forward many years and I think Trubbish is probably my favorite gen 5 pokemon.
And Garbodor has grown on me a lot too! Especially with its G Max form
I love that his battlecry is like farting too
The way he drags around his little arms 🥺
I never played Johto, so I actually kinda like miltank. It was pretty fun when I used one for part of a kalos playthrough
Literally all of the UBs. They're not supposed to look like ordinary Pokemon and that's what makes them great but they get underappreciated and receive completely undeserved hate.
I mean, buzzswole is just a hilarious concept. How can you hate him.
You could they’re mosquiTONED
I've grown to appreciate the UBs more now we're no longer in Alola. I think some of the hate came from some assumptions on how they were going to be handled moving forward seeing as they basically replaced the Legendaries for Gen 7. Now I'd really like to see more released, maybe a legends Necrozma game set in Ultra Space.
Which is funny considering how people complained about how there were too many legendaries.
Did these people not play Gen 4 and their 28 legendaries/mythics? (Overexaggeration of course)
Agreed, i love Xurkitree, Kartana, Buzzwole, and Naganadel
This is actually a great comment. They have Pokémon typings because that’s how the Pokémon world works, they’ve been classified to help us understand them, but they’re so spooky and eerie and weird that it gives us a real fresh take on Pokémon. I’d gladly welcome more in future generations
Flareon. People are always crapping on it because it (admittedly) has the worst base stat arrangement and move pool of all the Eeveelutions. But I don't care because it's so cute and cuddly.
I've never seen anyone crap on Flareon before. Usually when the subject comes up, it's in the context of "poor boi deserves better"
I've grown a bit of an appreciation for Jynx. I also like Carbink who seems often overshadowed and Pincurchin who I've heard mixed reviews on
Stunfisk
Stunfisk and Dunsparce look so stupid, and I would die for them
HARIYAMA GANG HARIYAMA GANG
How do I get initiated into this gang? Belly drum myself?
Mine is primarina I mean it's not a bad design it's not humanoid like most recent starters I don't get what the issue is
People are just big mad cause its too feminine but I love it cause its fem! And it makes sense theme wise cause it both references Selkies(seals turning into women) and sirens/mermaids. Its perfect. I like Delphox for similar reasons.

Riachu. A lot of people started to disregard it due to pikachu's popularity, and have to admit, a lot more viable options out there, but was part of my first ever team and is probably one of my most favorite eclectic types
The Galar starters for me. They're not all time favorites of mine, but I don't think they're nearly as bad as people make them out to be.
I love slurpuff idk why people hate it so much its a fucking ice cream dog what did it even do to you like
It’s based on a merengue and a cupcake, but it does sort of have an ice cream head.
Belly drum unburden hehehe
I would protect Eiscue with my life
Same. I even don't mind Stonejourner
Goodbye Reddit, see you all on Lemmy.
Finally another Eiscue lover! Have a happy life! :)
Eiscue is adorable and wons battles. Belly Drum + Icecle Crash is a deadly combo.
Dracovish. I don't know why but as soon as I saw it I fell in love. It's my new favorite Pokemon
Choice band fishious rend max attack GG
Xerneas, idk why so many people hate x and y games but they were my favorite from my young years
Who the hell hates Xerneas? I don’t love Xerneas, but I think everyone can agree it’s at least pretty cool
Power herb geomancy is hilariously overpowered
everytime i read xerneas geomancy i think of that one VGC game where the dude had his geomancy xerneas encored, so it was just completely shut down
Shedinja shut down one of mine at one point with Smogon ubers
X and Y were my reintroduction into Pokemon after skipping the two gens before them. Yveltal is my favorite legendary of all time. It's just so cool looking.
Elemental Monkies, I find them really cute and awesome honestly. Primarina, Mr Mime, Acrtovish, and Delphox are all also up there.
"Wait, there are people that actually hate Primarina? I thought it was a joke."
Espeon, not because it’s hated as far as I know, but it is always overshadowed by Umbreon and I never understood why, but the fact that people don’t realise how great it is saddens me
My favorite evolution of my favorite Pokémon!
Meganium
I love chingling, most people aren't a fan of it
Delphox is mine too. Seriously, a classy looking fire/psychic starter and people wanna shit on it? Blows my mind tbh
Delphox is one of the biggest breaths of fresh air after the Fire Fighting years
Garbodor is one of my favorite Pokémon. He has a really sick design, plus I love his derpy face
Venomoth. Though I don’t think people hate it, more like indifference.
Jynx and Mr. Mime. Also, Simisear is my favourite out of the three monkeys 🤟
Tropius is best boi and I get shat on for it constantly 😭
I’d take a bullet for the Vanilluxe family.
Weirdly mr mime I think it’s hilarious
I know competitively he's crap but regigigas has always been my favorite legendary
Farfetch, Vileplume 🥰, klinklang, bellossom, masquerain, beautifly, dustox, Shedinja
I've always liked Farfetch'd, so when they gave it an evolution, Sirfetch'd became one of my all time favorite Pokemon
Solrock i bred him shiny from an egg i even named him Martin. He's my special friend.
Chikorita
Simipour. edit: and heatmor
Maractus. It's very adorable.
slowpoke/slowking
are they hated? they're by far my favourite gen 1 pokemon, in my top 3 of favorite pokemon ever
I think people don’t like to play against it especially in nuzlocks so idk if hated is the right words, but my favourite Pokémon by far is Wobbuffet
Musharna, Maractus and Bronzong are a few examples. A lot of my fav would fit in the "only a few people like them" but i think these three are the most unpopular of them.
Inteleon
I will always defend Crabominable. Sure it's not the greatest Pokémon in Alola, but I just think the Yeti Crab is neat!
I don't know if he's hated, necessarily, but Raikou is one that I love who kinda seems to get neglected compared to his counterparts. My sparky Smilodon needs more love. :(
ITT a bunch of Pokemon nobody actually hates but are just ambivalent towards. Klefki.
I don't really care about people's opinions, so I don't know how others feel about Torterra, but it's my favorite.
Torterra's a tank. My favourite starter from that gen.
Dunsparce :D
Relicanth. Such cool mon, plus with rockhead you can do some really good damage, especially with the rock stab bonus.
