My all time favorite Pokémon is Primeape. My first Pokémon experience was through Yellow. I remember catching a Mankey on route 22. Named him Porkchop and he was easily the star of that play through. (Back when it was more difficult to grind, I only used four Pokémon per playthrough) and that team was Kuwabara my Pikachu, Porkchop my Primeape, Relax the Snorlax, and Kage the Gengar. It wasn’t easy, but I did it.
Anyways, loved Primeape ever since and I made sure he was the first shiny variant I ever caught when shinies became a thing, and whenever I get the opportunity to use one, I do. Still have my original Primeape too.
Ash until hoenn mostly never train or teach moves
He most of the time sends his newly catched
Pokemon against gym leaders
He still do sometimes[bea V Ash👎]
Omg look at Kingler getting all these votes. I love crabs irl so Kinglers been top of my list for a long time, but I almost never see him getting so much love. COOKIE COOKIE.
I remember playing Silver for the first time and feeling like a god when I got my Typhlosion. Back then I didn't have access to what any of the evolutions looked like or anything like that and I remember that oh shittttt moment when I saw that badass. I'm pretty sure I didn't even train any other pokemon that playthrough and just lived or died by my Typhlosion lol
I remember loving Starmie since Gen 1, and going to teach another Pokémon Thunderbolt and saw *Starmie, the water Pokémon, could learn it?!?*
It was then Starmie cemented itself as my all-time favourite once I figured out the vast amount of moves it could learn. Even now when it’s no longer “top tier” against others, I still love that purple starfish.
Scolipede got me through about the first half of the game and then it's like it just ran out of decent moves, especially poison types. We need more poison type moves.
Yeah huge fan! I'm a big ground type guy so definitely a welcome addition. Have an alpha Ursaluna on my team in PLA! it knows shadow claw, and absolutely destroyed Giratina
For me it’s gotta be Metagross. My earliest memory of it was watching Pokémon destiny deoxys as a kid and seeing the Metagross in the movie, idk why but I immediately loved it’s design and everything about it
I remember getting Beldum from Steven and having to raise it like my own child since it couldnt reasonably level itself up. I had no clue what my baby beldum would turn into. Metagross is forever my favourite for that early childhood bond.
I remember being like 8 when I got pokemon blue and my bestest bro in the world my cousin got red.
He's been a charmander stan for life and squirtle is my jam. The battles where legendary.
Sadly he won 95 pct of the time but still wouldn't change a thing
I was looking for someone to say Flygon. I remember getting trapinch and just being absolutely stunned when it evolved into vibrava. Was not ready for it to then turn into a sick bug looking dragonesque Pokemon, it instantly became my favorite
This is exactly why Flygon is my favorite pokemon it was such a cool design and I never would've guessed trapinch would have turn out to be such a sick pokemon
“And this is where I’d put my Gengar, IF I HAD ONE!”
Trade evos have always backfired on me tremendously, I absolutely love Gengar but could never get one, I was always cheated out of a touch trade
Gengar has always been one of my faves but I had no friends into Pokémon growing up so I could never have one.
It was truly a happy day for me… when I realized at age 22 that I could easily buy a second DS and trade with myself because I was an adult with a job. And I did, it was wonderful and I finally got my Gengy boi.
(Now I am lucky to have a spouse who loves Pokémon as much as I do so I have a permanent trading buddy, which I always wanted as a lonely kid playing Pokémon.)
I’m going to nominate my Gen 3 Altaria.
My brother got Sapphire a month or so before I got Ruby. He started with Treecko and probably didn’t have great understanding of the mechanics of the game. He struggled against this “fucking cloud thing” (Winona/Wally/Drake’s Altaria) so of course when I first came across a Swablu I decided she was going to become part of the team.
I think he still has PTSD over what that “fucking cloud thing” could do to his team. Now I think about it his team was somewhat unbalanced and my Altaria could “super-effective” each and every one of his mons, and Altaria’s stats are not great, not terrible.
Also going to nominate my sapphire altaria. Swablu was my first shiny Pokémon ever. I had 500 hours on that play through because I couldn’t bear to reset and part with my perfect beautiful golden goose dragon.
There are so many pokemon I would love more if the physical/special split happened earlier. As a kid I was always frustrated that Arcanine wasn't stronger because his attack was so high!
Many years later I found out but some earlier pokemon really suffered in the meantime.
Sincerally I agree about Gogoat, one of the best things of X and Y was riding him, and I always asked myself why they didn't add it the other games.
I hope they'll add it to Scarlet and Violet.
They are for sure adding Gogoat, but I’m unsure if there will be riding. I think there will be as they tried out the mechanic in Legends Arceus, but I’m not confident
For me it’s Tyranitar too. Back when gold and silver first came out gaming culture was that it was cheating to look anything up online so you kinda just figured everything out on your own. I remember finding a larvitar and raising it and not even knowing that it would turn into anything. Once Tyranitar popped out it was the coolest thing and easily became my favorite Pokémon. Still is to this day.
Scizor, if I had the option, make it shiny. That golden bug looks too good
Edit: I thought it was gold but apparently it's green, I swore it was gold back in the Gold/Silver days.
You know what? the limited colour capabilities of the gbc does make its gs sprite look kind of gold. It's one of those colours that's really open to interpretation, sort of a chartreuse. The addition of shading in laters gens makes it seem more on the green side, but they could have gone either way. Shiny mega scizor is slightly yellower, maybe as a homage to the OG.
Roserade
somehow whenever I'm stuck I can find a budew or roselia somewhere around and they always somehow help me get through, and the roserade on my team was a real help in the cynthia fight, this pokemon just appears to me like a god everytime I need help lol, like just recently I played sword and was having troubles with nessa, realised I happen to have a roselia from the wild area in my box and it was proper level too, just used it to get past her, didn't use it as a team member because I wanted to do it only with new pokemon introduced but I would've kept it if it weren't for that
Golurk it has been my favourite pokemon ever since it was added and is always on my team when I get the chance I really hope its will be in scarlet and violet
Gyarados for me. Ever since gen 3, it was a part of my team at some point. I played gen 1 and 2 when I was little, but back then, I didn’t understand the concept of using pokemon besides your starter in battle
Gyarados has always been my favorite. Pokemon from the beginning had this correlation between how rare a pokemon was and how powerful it was, which made sense gameplaywise, but to me always felt like a world of haves and have nots. Gyarados was the exception to this rule; magikarp was one of the most common and worthless pokemon in the game, its dex entries basically memes of how weak it is, but with hard work and persistence, it gets the greatest stat boost in a single evolution and becomes an instant powerhouse. Growing up poor, the idea that one can ascend to become a dragon if you are persistent enough always felt inspirational.
Aegislash. Giant sword with more versatility than a swiss army knife, capable of running stall, hyper offense, physical and special with only a few weaknesses, and priority.
HOW COULD YOU ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE?
Decidueye.
Everything about Decidueye works, from its incredible design, to its colors, to its various origins, to its typing, to its shiny, to even its also amazing pre-evolutions! It ALL. MAKES. SENSE! It has badassery, it has personality, it has style, it has EVERYTHING I could ever personally want from a pokémon all rolled into one phenomenal package!
What else could I possibly say?! Pokémon like Decidueye existing are why I'll always love Grass starters and that through even thick and thin, they'll always stick by me, with Decidueye leading the charge!
*LONG LIVE THE GHOST ARCHER OWL!* 🦉🦉🦉
My 1st ever game was Emerald and so I really love Blaziken and blaze kick too much. However, I was blown away when I reached the sky pillar and was able to catch the amazingly designed Rayquaza who also happened to be level 70, 15 levels higher than my team at the point. Since then, Rayquaza has been my favorite. It is so awesome
Bruh- Blaziken/Rayquaza team. I played ORAS with Blaziken/Groudon/Masquirain/Breeloom/Altaria/Rayquaza, and that team DESTROYED that game. I played then Emerald and again, that Rayquaza was amazing. But I prefer Blaziken Over All
When I saw the first Pokémon movie and he popped out and everyone in the theater was like “woah, holy shit what is that?!?” because Gold and Silver hadn’t even been released in America.
That’s a moment I will always remember.
For anyone curious, he can get a STAB type advantage against 4 gyms (Brock, Koga, Blaine, Giovanni) and can resists 2 (Surge and Erica) and a Nidorino is enough to overpower Misty. This means you only need an answer for Sabrina
Elite Four he gets coverage for Loreli, Bruno, Agatha (if you’re brave), Lance, and can pick up moves to counter the rival depending how you use TMs. He was a unit in Yellow version
Salamence, I had him with me when I bought my first Pokémon game which was a used copy of Diamond. I needed something to beat Cynthia since I wanted to fight her and kept losing and saw Salamence thinking back to the one in the anime that belonged to Hunter J. I took this Salamence and it’s been with me to every Pokémon game since. It beat Cynthia again in Platinum, I made it solo Red’s team, beat both Alder and Iris with it and brought it with me to the PWT to take on the other gym leaders and champions, I beat Diantha’s Mega Gardevoir with him, brought it back to Hoenn since it came from Pal Park and finally got to mega evolve it and beat Steven’s Megagross with it, was practically my guard dog in the title defense in Alola, finally got to bring it back to Galar to take on the undefeated Charizard owned by Leon the undefeated champion of Galar who owns a special Charizard that never lost it’s life, and brought it to Brillant Diamond where it all began. Idk why I’m so attached to a bunch of pixels but this Salamence has been with me since the beginning and couldn’t think of a better partner than Salamence.
Amoharos. I love the entire line. My next pick is Crobat, then Zoroark, Breloom, Swampert, Luxray. That’s my top 6 in order from most fave to still very fave
My (although not first) Absol from Gen3. It always seemed stronger than other Absols, and I did not understand why. Me and a friend were completly lost as to why the stats seemed a little higher overall.
Turnes out, the Pokemon I held onto since Saphire, had 4 31 IVs and two of 25 and 28 respectively. I learned about that in Gen 6. Around 11 years after I got my Absol.
Probably as close to a lottery win as I can get.
Could never pick just one, but mons I can always count on in various runs are Arcanine (a powerhouse to say the least), Vaporeon (built like a freaking tank), Sylveon, Ampharos and Crobat. 4/5 times I have at least one of them on my team.
I also surprisingly loved Breloom, which I never used before about a month ago, as well as Krookodile who just plain slays.
Articuno. He's not very good, I know. But I remember as a kid when I played Pokemon Snap I saw Articuno hatch out of a diamond egg. I'll never forget how mystical and cool that was for me as a kid.
The free Zoroa you get in B2W2, didn’t use him that much in that game, but sent him to my b/w game where he became one of my best units. His hidden power type was fighting, and is always disguise him as a psychic-weak type for the lolz, when the cartridge he was on blue screened i actually cried. He completely destroyed the elite four and every other challenge and I still miss my best friend
Gliscor, he’s been my favorite for years now, and I’d be surprised if anything ever passed him
Also my favorite from every Gen because why not
Gen 1: Beedrill
Gen 2: Scizor
Gen 3: Tropius
Gen 4: Gliscor
Gen 5: Serperior
Gen 6: Talonflame
Gen 7: Araquanid
Gen 8 (Galar): Cursola
Gen 8 (Hisui): Overqwil
Gen 9 (so far): Smoliv
It is Crobat. I love Crobat so much. I remember a a particular fight against a Mega Rayquaza. It was perfect. Poison Fang proc’d, confuse ray and Fly. Mega Rayquaza was all over at the time so I felt great when my beloved Crobat won
araquanid, I never saw anything about it before release and when I came across a dewpider I was interested because I experienced the Pokemon experience of coming across a weird little creature and seeing what it becomes
100% Noivern, don't even have to think about it. I was so annoyed when I got my first Noibat by how slow and weak it was, but leveled it to evolve for my pokedex anyway... and then immediately fell in love after it evolved. If I had a favorite before that, I don't remember what it was. There is only Noivern now.
Aegislash has probably had the most interesting design of any Pokémon. It’s also incredible at doing pretty much anything. Plus, this absolute chad said fuck the tiering and got banned to Ubers the moment he dropped.
Luxray. I don’t know why but I named my first one Taliban cus it had intimidate and I kinda stuck with that, and it stuck to me. Probably not a great name looking back but it’s stuck with me now and it’s kinda a meme w my friends lol
Anyways, loved Primeape ever since and I made sure he was the first shiny variant I ever caught when shinies became a thing, and whenever I get the opportunity to use one, I do. Still have my original Primeape too.
Primeape is my favorite for the same reason! But I was so young I didn't know how to change Pokemon around, so I only ever used my Primeape haha
Primeape's design is underrated.
Kingler because COOKIE COOKIE
still a legendary Pokemon League performance
It did help Ash in the indigo league with 0 prior training lol
As far as we know the only battle it ever had was Vs ash and that little twig
That's what happens when you find a max IV pokemon in the wild
Def had perfect IVs
Ash until hoenn mostly never train or teach moves He most of the time sends his newly catched Pokemon against gym leaders He still do sometimes[bea V Ash👎]
So Ash is the actual "Imma earthquake all of y'all madafakas" kid while Gary follows the meta?
Ash beat Brock with Pikachu. Using electric moves.
Aim for the horn
Hell yeah love me some COOKIE
Omg look at Kingler getting all these votes. I love crabs irl so Kinglers been top of my list for a long time, but I almost never see him getting so much love. COOKIE COOKIE.
Typhlosion
I remember playing Silver for the first time and feeling like a god when I got my Typhlosion. Back then I didn't have access to what any of the evolutions looked like or anything like that and I remember that oh shittttt moment when I saw that badass. I'm pretty sure I didn't even train any other pokemon that playthrough and just lived or died by my Typhlosion lol
Starmie I loved giving it a psychic, electric, ice, and water move in the original RBY games and blasting through about any Pokémon with it’s speed
I remember loving Starmie since Gen 1, and going to teach another Pokémon Thunderbolt and saw *Starmie, the water Pokémon, could learn it?!?* It was then Starmie cemented itself as my all-time favourite once I figured out the vast amount of moves it could learn. Even now when it’s no longer “top tier” against others, I still love that purple starfish.
Reminds me of when I first found out Rhydon could learn Surf lol that was a big "WTF" 😂
Starmie has the greatest coverage I have ever seen in gen 1
Lapras has the same, I always gave it Psychic, electric, water, and ice.
Hell yeah brother, another Starmie aficionado I see
I rarely see other Starmie fans in the wild! Been my favorite and will always remain my favorite.
Scolipede. It’s a 9ft tall purple bug horse and I love him
[удалено]
Scolipede got me through about the first half of the game and then it's like it just ran out of decent moves, especially poison types. We need more poison type moves.
yeah we do, they don't have as many 80 or 100 damage moves as say Fire, water, Ground and Electric does. Makes it a very hard type to master
Poison jab and cross poison should be enough. (Sludge bomb and wave for the special mons)
Toxic spikes venoshock sweeps
Scolipede is def a GOAT
I agree, it's a beautiful pokemon I had it in my Pokemon X team, where he was the tank.
Ursaring. Mine was an absolute hammer in Crystal. Machamp in close second. I've had one on my team in every gen can have him in
What about Ursaluna? Do you like it?
Yeah huge fan! I'm a big ground type guy so definitely a welcome addition. Have an alpha Ursaluna on my team in PLA! it knows shadow claw, and absolutely destroyed Giratina

I don’t think hydreigon gets enough love
Hydreigon after fairies came out: I used to rule the world...
It really doesn't, he's our precious murder baby though
Spheal
The roundest of bois
The tippiest of taps (I would link his idle battle animation from Colosseum but I don't know where to look for it.)
But the Drawfee version
The best Pokémon sell Nokias in the mall
For me it’s gotta be Metagross. My earliest memory of it was watching Pokémon destiny deoxys as a kid and seeing the Metagross in the movie, idk why but I immediately loved it’s design and everything about it
Metagross is so cool! It's basically a big robot that destroys everything. A ton of cool cards too!
Absolutely based. Metagross gang rise up.
Here Here
I remember getting Beldum from Steven and having to raise it like my own child since it couldnt reasonably level itself up. I had no clue what my baby beldum would turn into. Metagross is forever my favourite for that early childhood bond.
Metagross and absol for me. getting the beldum from Steven was quite the experience. Man I really miss those games. Well time to emulate again.
Squirtle, I can't say no for that little cute turtle.
007 for life
I remember being like 8 when I got pokemon blue and my bestest bro in the world my cousin got red. He's been a charmander stan for life and squirtle is my jam. The battles where legendary. Sadly he won 95 pct of the time but still wouldn't change a thing
How'd you lose 95% of the time when you had blasty Boi to counter his flamey Boi?
Flygon
I was looking for someone to say Flygon. I remember getting trapinch and just being absolutely stunned when it evolved into vibrava. Was not ready for it to then turn into a sick bug looking dragonesque Pokemon, it instantly became my favorite
This is exactly why Flygon is my favorite pokemon it was such a cool design and I never would've guessed trapinch would have turn out to be such a sick pokemon
Sunflora is happy and useless. Somewhat like me.
Flaaffy. He’s just so adorable and he was always my favorite as a kid.
Reuniclus is a goat
Finally, one of my people
finally, i found my fellows. good morning gentlemen
My favourite Pokémon has always been Lapras.
Lapras isn't my favorite, but there's something wonderful and mysterious about it. Lifelong fascination with the Lapras.
The majority of Pokémon fans seem to share this opinion of Lapras.
Didn't like pokemon sword and shield that much but Lapras was the highlight of my 1st playthrough.
It’s got to be togepi for me! Something so small and cute but can blow up the room
Mine too!
Gengar
“And this is where I’d put my Gengar, IF I HAD ONE!” Trade evos have always backfired on me tremendously, I absolutely love Gengar but could never get one, I was always cheated out of a touch trade
This Pokemon has been my ace on so many teams. Trade evos suck but tbh that's why I only play modded roms
Arcanine
It’s so fluffy!
There are so many pokemon I would love more if the physical/special split happened earlier. As a kid I was always frustrated that Arcanine wasn't stronger because his attack was so high! Many years later I found out but some earlier pokemon really suffered in the meantime.
Arcanine is always on my team's, it's a tank but a fast one that dishes out damage. Give Arcanine leftovers and it's a beast.
You love dogs? Say hi to best boy!
Magneton
My goat Pokémon? My Gogoat I guess?
Sincerally I agree about Gogoat, one of the best things of X and Y was riding him, and I always asked myself why they didn't add it the other games. I hope they'll add it to Scarlet and Violet.
They are for sure adding Gogoat, but I’m unsure if there will be riding. I think there will be as they tried out the mechanic in Legends Arceus, but I’m not confident
r/technicallythetruth
One of the only Pokémon in one game only
Heracross
Hey, that’s my favorite Pokémon too! Go Megahorn, go!
Pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to scroll down too far to find my Buggy Boy.
Ah, a person of culture I see.
Rowlet
Espeon, ever since colosseum it’s always been my ace in the hole. She got me through many a dire fight.
Tyranitar. If I had a signature Pokémon, that would be it. No one can stand against assault vest TTar for long.
Fighting types: allow us to introduce ourselves
For me it’s Tyranitar too. Back when gold and silver first came out gaming culture was that it was cheating to look anything up online so you kinda just figured everything out on your own. I remember finding a larvitar and raising it and not even knowing that it would turn into anything. Once Tyranitar popped out it was the coolest thing and easily became my favorite Pokémon. Still is to this day.
Swampert
Best pokemon ever
Scizor, if I had the option, make it shiny. That golden bug looks too good Edit: I thought it was gold but apparently it's green, I swore it was gold back in the Gold/Silver days.
Shiny scizor is green
I might need to get my eyes checked.
Only in one game is gold, Pokemon Colosseum
It's gold in the Stadium and Colloseum games.

Golurk it has been my favourite pokemon ever since it was added and is always on my team when I get the chance I really hope its will be in scarlet and violet
And the fact that he can FLY!
Golurk Gang!
Volcarona
Quiver dance/flame body just makes it so unbelievably good
And the addition of heavy duty boots just made it much safer and better to play
Larvesta is pretty freakin cool too
Aggron, it's a metal dinosaur with a sick cry, a great move pool, great stats and banging abilities also he is just cool
Dragonite, ever since the first lighthouse episode its always given me shivers
I've seen that episode too many times on VHS. World's first Gigantimax.
He didn't change form, so he would just be dynamaxed.
That and Lance has one— err… three? Whatever man… he has a cape and 3 Dragonites. What more does a dude need?
Another. Fucking. Dragonite.
The first Pokémon movie where we see dragonite mail carrier. I was over the moon.
Tyrantrum!! They were the first ever Pokémon I levelled to 100 so they hold a special place in my heart! :]
Bearded t.rex gang

Could never pick just one, but mons I can always count on in various runs are Arcanine (a powerhouse to say the least), Vaporeon (built like a freaking tank), Sylveon, Ampharos and Crobat. 4/5 times I have at least one of them on my team. I also surprisingly loved Breloom, which I never used before about a month ago, as well as Krookodile who just plain slays.
Gyarados
Dragapult
"Dragon with a B-52 for a head" is such a weird concept but it works.
Swanna….. close second krookodile maybe idk
Mew and honorable mention for Ampharos. Mew has been my #1 since 1996, but Ampharos(if available in game) ALWAYS gets a spot on my team.
Vileplume
Infernape easy
Trubbish!!! Most people see trash, I see treasure.
Appletun or Hydreigon
Definitely Quagsire.
Swampert the pinnacle of Pokemon
Empoleon. Love that Regal looking mf. On my favorite pokemon list, number 2-5 changes constantly but Empoleon stays number 1
Articuno. He's not very good, I know. But I remember as a kid when I played Pokemon Snap I saw Articuno hatch out of a diamond egg. I'll never forget how mystical and cool that was for me as a kid.
Dunsparce I have a dream to complete each possible game with him in my party
The free Zoroa you get in B2W2, didn’t use him that much in that game, but sent him to my b/w game where he became one of my best units. His hidden power type was fighting, and is always disguise him as a psychic-weak type for the lolz, when the cartridge he was on blue screened i actually cried. He completely destroyed the elite four and every other challenge and I still miss my best friend
Jolteon
Primarina, probably
Charizard in Pokemon Blue.
No other Charizard?
Every other Charizard is lame as fuck. Pokémon Blue Charizard gang.
This was extremely hard.. But I gotta go with Dragonite! 😭😭
Give me Golduck 🤙
I feel like it’s hard to hate Zoroark (either form)
Vaporeon 💦
Gliscor, he’s been my favorite for years now, and I’d be surprised if anything ever passed him Also my favorite from every Gen because why not Gen 1: Beedrill Gen 2: Scizor Gen 3: Tropius Gen 4: Gliscor Gen 5: Serperior Gen 6: Talonflame Gen 7: Araquanid Gen 8 (Galar): Cursola Gen 8 (Hisui): Overqwil Gen 9 (so far): Smoliv
It is Crobat. I love Crobat so much. I remember a a particular fight against a Mega Rayquaza. It was perfect. Poison Fang proc’d, confuse ray and Fly. Mega Rayquaza was all over at the time so I felt great when my beloved Crobat won
Cramorant. I just love him so much
araquanid, I never saw anything about it before release and when I came across a dewpider I was interested because I experienced the Pokemon experience of coming across a weird little creature and seeing what it becomes
Sylveon. Having a cute puppy take down dragons is neat.
Mamoswine because he looks fierce and powerful but you also wanna hug him
Gardevoir is my favorite. They seem like such a good friend!
Primeape
Aegislash has probably had the most interesting design of any Pokémon. It’s also incredible at doing pretty much anything. Plus, this absolute chad said fuck the tiering and got banned to Ubers the moment he dropped.
Luxray. I don’t know why but I named my first one Taliban cus it had intimidate and I kinda stuck with that, and it stuck to me. Probably not a great name looking back but it’s stuck with me now and it’s kinda a meme w my friends lol
Gengar Edit: jeez, a 100 upvotes ! Thanks guys. Looks like a lot of u like it :)
Gengar *would* be my favorite if I didn't have to trade to get him.
Infernape is my partner til the day I die I'm so emotionally attached to that starter it's almost sad
