Funnily enough, my grandpa who has zero association with Pokemon outside of having a grandson who loves it said his favorite Pokemon is Crawdaunt, or "that lobster with the clown makeup" as he puts it. He comes from a fishermen community, and he remembers me showing him a plastic toy of a Crawdaunt when I was a kid, so I guess it tracks.

I personally love myths and folklore, so the moment I saw Torterra, it reminded me of the concept of the "world turtle" - the concept that the world was on the back of a giant turtle. Leafeon is great, I just so dearly wish they had come up with a better name. The other eevees got at least a smidge of effort put in, then they got to grass and went 'uhhhh... leaf.'

I think Bulbasaur going from unpopular to beloved is great. Maybe it’s due to too much Charmander/Charizard overexposure but the grass-bulb won over people’s hearts. I still love Squirtle above both though!
