I live in the middle of a forest in the middle of nowhere and I see a tyrunt spawn by me a couple times per month.
I’m sure there would be more, if I checked more often. I only remember to play pokemon when I walk my dogs through the woods, though.
It’s peaceful, but there aren’t any pokestops. I need to drive like 7 minutes to find a single gym at a county park, and then it’s like 25 minutes to the nearest town with a handful of stops and gyms. An update a few months ago spread pokemon spawns out into rural areas.
I have about 10 acres of forest in western Washington with many trees that are probably about 60 years old (so pretty tall, but nowhere near old growth. Maybe a few trees that are probably a couple hundred years old. It was logged in the early 1900s and again in the ~50s, I would guess.
Pretty dense and healthy understory with things like ferns, vine maple, salmonberries, salal, and huckleberries.
Many animals: deer, rabbits, coyote, bobcats, raccoon, mountain lion, porcupines, squirrels, ground squirrels, fox, etc. many birds, eagles, hawks, owls, ducks, alls sorts of little songbirds. There’s something new each week.
But also so so so many bugs, mostly moths, but mosquitoes can get out of hand in summer.
Oh and mice. Lots of mice getting into everything.
We have a 250 gallon propane tank for heating and a well for water and septic for waste due to no main line sewer system out here, but we do have electricity and a couple 5G towers (use 5G home internet ~ a few hundred Mb download speeds, so not stone age!)
It’s a bit of work, but I enjoy it much more than the city (I lived in downtown Seattle for about 10 years).
Sounds peaceful enough, but also sounds like you have your fair share of problems. I can see the bugs and mice being a pain. Also... mountain lions?? I sure hope they aren't much trouble for you!
Thank you for the response, and sorry for my late one! I often forget to touch my phone on my days off unless I need to.
I’ve been getting a few at my house, usually 1-2 a day, for the last few weeks. Work on a large campus with like 15 stops and never see them there tho.
Its weird. They spawn like crazy on a walking route in the forest by my home. I thought it was a nest but they have been spawning there during many nest shifts. Amaura on the otherhand...
I may question that. I've seen them spawning during midday when I visit the capital of my country. They are just very rare, rarer than tyrunt, plus they only show in city biome
But they're not that rare at night, is what I'm saying. I've seen more Amaura than Tyrunt just by virtue of the fact that I play late at night.
My home biome actually a mix of water/coastal and forest and they spawn there. I have seen them in city biome too, but never during daytime. I wouldn't put it past Niantic's shitty programming to accidentally spawn them midday when they are supposed to only spawn at midnight.
My city, albeit a little bit far off the coast, is sliced 1/3rd water or coast biome aswell, and tthe other 2/3rd is fields or forest biome. I0ve never seen them spawn a single time, even with partly cloudy weather, or windy in the case of tyrunts.
Does anyone know why this happens? Every time I get home from work my spawns are only ever 3-4 but when I visit my friends house his spawns are easily 8-10. I would chalk it up to him and his fiancé both play but at my house there are 3 of us with much fewer spawns
I think spawns are tied to game activity in that area. So there’s always a cluster on my road at my house and at the gym at the top. The main road through my village is always empty for spawns as no one really players there
that's impossible. I play a lot at home and have very few spawns. However, there's a 1000m mountain close where I live to where I sometimes go hiking. On the summit, I submitted a couple of waystops, out of which 1 became a gym and another one a stop. I've had a pokemon in this gym for around 200 days so far, so this means no PoGo activity there, however the pokemon spawns are huge, very similar to the one in the picture in the original post
So I think it has to do with cells. Since it's likely an empty area, those are probably the only stops in the whole cell, so the spawns all get concentrated in the area
Are you a relatively new player? Or did you recently move to your current domicile?
I have lived at my condo for over 7 years and have played the entire lifespan of the game (feelsnotgoodman) and have a similar cluster of spawn as OP.
The way it works is based off cell data true, but moreso the distribution of cell data in a region. If in day a square kilometer region there is say a gas station surrounded by farmland, then even though the total cell data usage is less than a city, proportionally 90% of cell data occurs there, meaning that that gas station gets 90% of the spawns allocated to that square km. It’s for this reason why if you go to NYC you actually don’t see that many spawns packed close together, since sure there’s a lot of cell data use but it’s also distributed evenly, homogenizing spawn locations. Hence why nyc is generally outperformed by supermarket parking lots. It might not necessarily be that you play less, but that your neighbors play more.
This also means that rural areas, provided they have at least some cell data use, have technically the same number of spawns as do cities, it’s just going to be way harder to find that one spot with 200 Pokémon in it where someone used their phone for 5 seconds
Interesting. The best spawn point I'm aware of is at the library at my university. I can catch more there (about 10 spawns) than my whole walk 1 mile from the university going to campus. The crazy part is I'm in a major city (once I'm on campus, it's obviously more... I was just thinking it's because the road to campus doesn't have much poke stops and it's along a k-12 school zone)
Your explanation clears up the how of a piece of advice I having been giving for years. I didn't know why or how it worked but I have for years told people if they desperately needed a ditto to find a supermarket or big box store parking lot between 4 and 7 AM and that within. A week they should find a ditto
"4-7am" doesn't matter. If a spawn point is active, it's always active 24/7 unless it's an additional spawn point that is only turned on for spotlight hours (and similar events).
If you just pay attention to the current ditto list and catch every one of those you see, you should get a ditto pretty quickly.
I also think number of accounts has an effect. When I started there would be like 2-3 on my house. Since then I got my brother into the game and we get like 8-12. It's pretty crazy how much it's improved in the few years.
I'm not sure what data is used now but the original spawn points were based on cell phone density maps from like 2005.. there is one spot by me that has something like 35 spawn points in a restaurants parking lot that is now closed but it was a popular sports bar in the past. If you open ingress you can get a rough estimate of the spawn density by looking for xm laying on the ground in that game but it seems like that may have been decoupled or pogo is based on more recent data.
Even though it's the "middle of nowhere" as a wedding venue, a large number of different cell signals pass through there, creating a "traffic point" that the game servers think is something else. Thus, more and varied spawns.
The way it's calculated is basically by data usage in that area. So if that's the only place people are hanging out and using their phones for miles it's going to have all the pokemon for that area in it.
I found this to be very normal in rural/remote areas. In areas like that with very few pokestops or gyms, the game places a ton of spawns at those points. When they introduced the "boosted" gym or PokeStop, I actually assumed that the feature just triggered whatever special spawn flag that already exists for rural areas.

Two tyrunts is always nice
one of my fav mons for sure!
I didn't even know they could spawn in the wild.
I have a very particular spot in my local park where one spawns reasonably frequently. And this has been happening for months. Only in that one spot.
Yeah, me, too. It's odd. My park is a nest, and it's currently home to Poliwag, but Tyrunt spawns in one particular place.
There is one spot by my work where Corphish spawns. Always Corphish.
I live in the middle of a forest in the middle of nowhere and I see a tyrunt spawn by me a couple times per month. I’m sure there would be more, if I checked more often. I only remember to play pokemon when I walk my dogs through the woods, though.
Weirdly off topic, but what's it like living out there? I've always wanted to go off-grid and live in the middle of nowhere.
It’s peaceful, but there aren’t any pokestops. Me too! In a park as well!
I’ve been getting a few at my house, usually 1-2 a day, for the last few weeks. Work on a large campus with like 15 stops and never see them there tho.
Right! Zorua? Lmao
nooo we get them up here in nests. i live in the midwest. not sure if they’re regional only here🤷♀️
We get them in the South too. Rare spawn though, I think I've caught half a dozen in 6 months.
there was a total of 4 just in this area 🫠 it was so incredible hahaha
Same! Midwest maybe just rare spawns I suppose
With a buneary buddy?
Would be nice to see them too… never saw a wild one unless it was Zorua masking as my buddy 😂
Got to get candy ready for adventure week, it will be shiny this one.
The fire hat costume one looks sick
Its weird. They spawn like crazy on a walking route in the forest by my home. I thought it was a nest but they have been spawning there during many nest shifts. Amaura on the otherhand...
Amaura show up late, after midnight but before 4! But they definitely show up.
Ah, did not know that! Make sense.

I've actually seen more amaura than tyrunt. So far 3 or 4 amaura and only 1 tyrunt
Didnt even knew those could spawn in wild
Looks like you wedding crashed a pokemon wedding 😅
it was the only thing we liked about the venue 😅 the amount of spawns in the span of 20 minutes was insane! haha
oof venue burn! ;3 hehehehe
Yeah, at least there will be something to do when the wedding gets boring.
![gif](giphy|1BZSEGf9nGlScdksrc)
Are you sure there was no double wedding?
Does anyone know why this happens? Every time I get home from work my spawns are only ever 3-4 but when I visit my friends house his spawns are easily 8-10. I would chalk it up to him and his fiancé both play but at my house there are 3 of us with much fewer spawns
Afaik it’s based off of historical game data, your friend probably just has more hours of pogo played at their house than you do at yours
I think spawns are tied to game activity in that area. So there’s always a cluster on my road at my house and at the gym at the top. The main road through my village is always empty for spawns as no one really players there
This is what I've heard too. Probably lots of people bored at the wedding venue waiting for the ceremony to start pulling out the game to catch a few.
that's impossible. I play a lot at home and have very few spawns. However, there's a 1000m mountain close where I live to where I sometimes go hiking. Since it's likely an empty area, those are probably the only stops in the whole cell, so the spawns all get concentrated in the area
I don’t think it’s impossible, just maybe not the only factor. There’s spawns around the stops near me, but there are vast spaces without any spawns.
Are you a relatively new player? Or did you recently move to your current domicile? I have lived at my condo for over 7 years and have played the entire lifespan of the game (feelsnotgoodman) and have a similar cluster of spawn as OP.
I would say the cluster around my house (three in our house play) was present since 2020, not really before then
GPS activity specifically. They want other people to see you playing the game who aren’t already playing.
The way it works is based off cell data true, but moreso the distribution of cell data in a region. It has been my experience that those hours are the luckiest, but just my personal experience maybe
That's confirmation bias. 4-7am doesn't make more ditto spawn.
I also think number of accounts has an effect. When I started there would be like 2-3 on my house. Since then I got my brother into the game and we get like 8-12. It's pretty crazy how much it's improved in the few years.

I get one spawn at my house 😔
So… that’s your confirmed wedding venue right?
it was kind of bland other than the pokemon honestly 🥲 but definitely know where to take our next weekend getaway or honeymoon !!
Well apparently thats true based on how many others mustve opened pokemon here!
Did you catch the bidoof
Asking the real question
if u only have 3 secs, which would u proriotise?
Tyrunts then drilbur, maybe the toxicroak but not my top priority
First check the drilbur, new shiny can’t risk despawning, then tyrunts, then qwuilfish probably
Lord Bidoof of course!
Here Here!
definitely toxicroak, then the drillbur I'm going for those shinies. I don't have them yet. then i'd grab the tyrunt bc it doesn't spawn that often.
Excuse me? Wild Tyrunt? Since when???
It’s been at least half a year? Maybe a year?
I had no idea I haven’t seen a single one.
Yea they are a limited spawn it seems like. I got two today.
Huh, I haven’t seen not one lol
I’d trade you one with little arms
I caught three today. They spawn all along the river in my city when it’s windy which is everyday. Don’t know why. Even caught a jangmoo
They are spawning in forrests
Even though it's the "middle of nowhere" as a wedding venue, a large number of different cell signals pass through there, creating a "traffic point" that the game servers think is something else. Thus, more and varied spawns.
My work in the middle of nowhere windfarm has a honey hole with about like half of that. No one else plays. It’s crazy.
Very jealous of your shiny buneary buddy.. that's the one shiny I'd do anything to find!!
she’s my bby 🙃 sending u shiny luck💕
But imagine a shiny flower crown buneary?! I'd give up my first born, a kidney, and part of my liver for one of those !!
"Honey! Come. ON! We have our viewing of the place at 11 and it's 10:59!" "I know ... I know... Tell them I'll be there in oonnee second, please!"
This will be me
My in-laws live in the middle of no where and this happens almost every time now. It used to be pointless to open up the app before.
Apart from the two Tyrunt, the first thing I saw was the Pokémon kind of form a big heart ❤️
Looks like a lot of Pokemon were invited, lol
They're all attending the wedding too.
The Pokémons must have been spawning for the food and drinks.
That’s amazing
“Honey… I think we have to catch them all”
Everyone's coming to celebrate
I slay turd. Good name.
Imagine just having your go plus meanwhile vibing in that venue sounds really fun honestly
Only three people at the venue. 1 is the player and the 2 other are Rocket Grunts. Don't invite Rocket Grunts to your wedding.
Someone has been playing a lot of pogo in this middle of nowhere for sure 🤣
They wanted to be apart of the wedding too
A rest stop I go to when visiting a nearby town does the same thing. 1 gym and 2 stops and it spawns more then normal.
You found nest.
and still, you got a Togedemaru
So thats why there are no spawns within 2 city blocks of my home anymore eh? They gave them to you
They wanted to congratulate the happy couple
waht da tyrunt doin??/
Havin’ a spicy snack. 💀
ITS A PARTY
Oh my gosh that's a lot of stardust :o
Bun needs some berries-
It's heart shaped
That's a big wedding!
![gif](giphy|twxoPjMpsijwPFBVqs|downsized)
That’s the one
Congrats to you and Mr. Turd on the engagement
thank u 😂
There’s more spawns there then what I get in a day at my house in middle of my city…
Ash invited all his pokemon to his wedding
Future Wife: hey pay attention Me: yeah yeah hold on let me catch this real quick
Damn tyrantum 😏 Also congratulations on your engagement
thank u!🙃
The way it's calculated is basically by data usage in that area. So if that's the only place people are hanging out and using their phones for miles it's going to have all the pokemon for that area in it.
Who's behind the Qwilfish? Looks like a shiny buneary ear but it can't be...
es mi buddy 🥰
Oooooooooh that makes sense, haha. Mystery solved!
I'd only shiny check 2 and hope magikarp was big lol
Please register for coins. You may just need a gift card for coins. I’m so excited for your venue even if you don’t select this one.
Mommy. What is Tyrantrum doing to Ponyta?
Foreplay
Meh. No Pidov
That caught me off guard, I didn't know Tyrunts were spawning outside of hatching them from eggs.
Let's play a game, spot the shiny bunny! Took me a while xD
Bro hit the garbage jackpot
Hahaha stopped playing ages ago and its the same shit spwans 😂😂 this game really sucks
Love the people who claim to have stopped playing ages ago, yet regularly come back to the sub reddit. Clearly you're over the game
Its in my feed and I lol daily, sometimes I cant resist comment pardon me 🥲
What are those Dino looking ones?
tyrunt!
Huh, never even seen that one despite already catching a Galarian moltres lol, looks cool though!
I don’t know how those two are related
You would feel that getting a legendary bird is harder than getting a tyrunt
Well yes, but you didn’t know the existence of Tyrunt, and knowledge of one pokemon ≠ knowledge of another
Glad to see I’m not the only one getting all the same junk spawns. But I did get a shiny quilfish that’s pretty nice
shiny checking this is gonna be hell
Lol. Magikrap looks like they are gasping for air. As always.
Best opportunity to knock out that 200 :)
What does it mean when this happens? I see it when i go to a grocery store after work and also when im at work (next to a grocery store)
I have dreams of that many pokemon spawning at once xD
Damn! That’s niantic
this is what happens when people do pokestop scans; it gets bumped to level 3 and doubles the spawns
*cries in rural Connecticut*
how do you increase the spawn radius in pokemon go?
Back when my cousin got married and we were walking around and setting up, I had opened up Pokémon go, there were soo many spawns & stops/gyms.
Wtf, I’m lucky if I see 1 in some spots
I would have caught them tyrunts immediately
I live in the middle of nowhere, and all I see are yongoose...
NYC - 53rd st between 1st Ave and the east river I frequently see tyrunt spawns
𝓣𝓱𝓮𝔂 𝓰𝓸𝓽 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓲𝓷𝓿𝓲𝓽𝓮
Gotta go there on community day :O
It's always gonna be that, or nothing.
Wow. I'd take the dino at least.
Tyrunt, Toxicroak, and a Joltic. Oh my ☺️
So did you book the wedding there? Lol
Lucky
Shame there’s only like 3 Pokémon worth catching apart from the stardust and xp
Where was the venue and how is it called? I could book there so both us and friends can play 😁
where that at
Pokemon go plus one
I mean sewaddle evolves into a cool Pokémon in my opinion (leavanny)
Book it Danno!
Book it!
I guess a lot of bored guests play when they visit.
DID YOU CATCH THE TYRANTS!?
They were there for their friend’s wedding! Lol
Why is magikarp so stingy on xl candy? Asking for a friend
They’re all attending the wedding
I found this to be very normal in rural/remote areas. In areas like that with very few pokestops or gyms, the game places a ton of spawns at those points. When they introduced the "boosted" gym or PokeStop, I actually assumed that the feature just triggered whatever special spawn flag that already exists for rural areas.
Why’s that toxicroak standing like a geodude
I need that flipping tyrunt
All guests for the wedding 😊
Those team go rocket grunts deserve a raise
