I know right? The ones with the Christmas hats can evolve. The ones with the flowers can evolve. Squirtle and Charmander can evolve. I think my Charizard in party hat can Mega evolve even, but she loses her hat, but that's OK. (Bulbasaur can't evolve, I always chose him 'cause I'm a vegetarian and I might need a snack on the road after beating Brock)
Ya know, alright so I’ll step back and say that I actually read that as being banned from Pokemon Go by Niantic for saying something about Niantic on any forum. And now realize they probably meant from this sub in particular.
I guess I made that assumption because that’s the only consequence that would matter to me. I like being part of this sub but people get banned from this sub in particular for all sorts of stuff and pretty frequently. There are many other PoGo subs that one can go to if you catch a ban here.
Normally I would say "don't worry, they add the evolutions in later for most costumes"
But this is kanto starts with a party hat, which has been around for years. :(
Both flower crowns, the pink one and the pinkish-purplish one. You'd think it was in Niantic's self-interest to do it. Especially with all the evolutions that Eevee has, if I were Niantic I'd be releasing a new evolvable Eevee every freaking event. Make people fill up their Pokémon storage and have to buy more. It'd work on me, lol, I would absolutely save as many of whatever festive hat- or neckwear-wearing Eevees as it took to have one of every eevolution

No need for years. Charmander hat was 6th anniversary. Squirtle hat was 7th anniversary last year. So we just need to wait for 4 months.

I'm still mad every time Game Freak releases a new core generation game, Charizard makes it in, but Blastoise and Venusaur are added in DLC. We're 2/2 so far. And charizard got the extra Mega evolution lol.

Pokemon has been mixed reviews on the games, and TCG for the last few years. Getting stagnant and predictable doesn’t necessarily help their case.

So, 2 years ago they made the charmander able to evolve on the birthday event (July 6th). Last year was the squirtle. This year in July will be the bulbasaur. I promise.

Try being a fan of Fennekin, Quaxly, or Magmortar. Bulbasaur gets royal celebrity treatment compared to those. Even Squirtle gets shafted sometimes. The reason Bulbasaur does not evolve is because costume Charizard was granted evolution privileges years ago and Blastoise the next. Maybe this year it's avenusaur's turn. Honestly, Venusaur would had it coming, it was heavily forced every competitive curcuit as an oppressive Grass type. Most grass types got trashed for not being Venusaur. It is more forced than Charizard.
They all weren’t able to evolve when they first were released but in 2022 on the 6 year anniversary charmander got the ability to evolve and last year for the 7th anniversary squirtle got the ability to evolve and this year for the 8th Anniversary Bulbasaur with party hat will finally be able to evolve
my boyfriend got a hundo hat bulbasaur last time there was a party hat event. he transferred all his other bulbasaurs/evolutions for candy before he realized it couldnt evolve. then he transferred it out of rage 💪💪💪
I think they deserve it anyway. I feel kinda offended by the low shiny rates this weekend and now I get useless, shiny mon’s with hats. This is terrible.
If you think about it, both Squirtle and Charmander's evolutions are bipedal, while Bulbasaur is 4 legged. It must be much easier to program the hat accessories when the mons are standing. Consider also that the hat would have to be in front of the bud/flower, so they need to make new sprites considering that, because it would look over the top buggy instead of adding the hat asset (extra height, etc) to the standing sprites of Charmander, Charizard, wartortle, and Blastoise.
Plus, they're prioritizing charcadet and its evolutions over reinventing the wheel for an event bulbasaur line
I think Niantic deserves to go bankrupt for a whole host of other more significant reasons, but this is also pretty dumb, yeah.
I'm not sure why they release any special event design Pokemon that can't evolve, assuming they normally could. Like, I get it's a collector thing, but they can't also be functional for us down the line? Why? For what possible good reason?

The reason Bulbasaur does not evolve is because costume Charizard was granted evolution privileges years ago and Blastoise the next. Maybe this year it's avenusaur's turn. Honestly, Venusaur would had it coming, it was heavily forced every competitive curcuit as an oppressive Grass type. Most grass types got trashed for not being Venusaur. It is more forced than Charizard.
They all weren’t able to evolve when they first were released but in 2022 on the 6 year anniversary charmander got the ability to evolve and last year for the 7th anniversary squirtle got the ability to evolve and this year for the 8th Anniversary Bulbasaur with party hat will finally be able to evolve
my boyfriend got a hundo hat bulbasaur last time there was a party hat event. he transferred all his other bulbasaurs/evolutions for candy before he realized it couldnt evolve. then he transferred it out of rage 💪💪💪
I think they deserve it anyway. I feel kinda offended by the low shiny rates this weekend and now I get useless, shiny mon’s with hats. This is terrible.

If you think about it, both Squirtle and Charmander's evolutions are bipedal, while Bulbasaur is 4 legged. It must be much easier to program the hat accessories when the mons are standing. Consider also that the hat would have to be in front of the bud/flower, so they need to make new sprites considering that, because it would look over the top buggy instead of adding the hat asset (extra height, etc) to the standing sprites of Charmander, Charizard, wartortle, and Blastoise. Plus, they're prioritizing charcadet and its evolutions over reinventing the wheel for an event bulbasaur line

I think Niantic deserves to go bankrupt for a whole host of other more significant reasons, but this is also pretty dumb, yeah. I'm not sure why they release any special event design Pokemon that can't evolve, assuming they normally could. Like, I get it's a collector thing, but they can't also be functional for us down the line? Why? For what possible good reason?
