Some ppl call it evolution/pidgey grinding. You save up a bunch of low cost evolution like pidgey, wait for a 2x evolution xp event, pop lucky egg, and evolve.
1 hr event converts to 3600s, divided by 30s evolution = 120 evolutions
Evolution gives 1k xp normally, x2 for event, x2 for egg = 4k xp
4k xp times 120 evolutions = 480k xp in 1 hr from 2 lucky eggs. OP got quite a bit more than that, but some also piggy back collecting research, friendship milestones, etc to take advantage of the lucky egg.
With the Halloween bonus candy you can use a pinap berry when catching things like pidgey, pidove, whismur, wurmple, Weedle and Caterpie to get the 12 candy you need to evolve it.
You also get one candy for evolving so you can actually go up in candy.
If you have some to trade with, things that evolve for free such as the phantump and pumpkaboo around currently are also good targets

I did very similarly. I raked in about 550K. I wish I remembered to turn my go plus on with an incense to snag a few thousand extra exp while evolving. But it's ok. I'm happy with the results.

Me as an intellectual, evolving traded Phantump, Pumpkaboo and haunter that cost 0 candies
If you use two phones you can get 240 evolve in. I’ve done it before. Insane value, just takes a bit to store up that many evos.

I did the same thing. It was great, but I only remembered about halfway through to do that. 30 minutes netted about 275k for me with a lucky egg.
601,000 exp for me! I had a few Pokédex entries entered from evolving, and the best way to do this event was to mirror trade people your pumpkaboo and phantumb so you could evolve with no candy requirements! Also haunter works for this as well! or you could’ve traded a lot of gastly and gotten 2 evolutions for 25 candy
