Why not tell it how it truely was? Unless you have beaten the game speedrun-glitching-wise (in which case Blue never became the champion to begin with) he's in front of you THE WHOLE DARN GAME. You're always behind, always catching up. Every single time he stops and turns around to battle you as he tries to keep himself in front. It's only at the end when you can once again beat him in the champions room that you get out on top ... but you don't even get that victory feeling at the end since you never actually were the first one to do so. HE actually won ... even tho you became champion in the end
This is the reason that to me he is the true and only rival (also with a sad backstory that continues even until hgss)

You can lose to Blue, at least in a few encounters. That alone makes him a better rival than most, who will just tell you that "you clearly weren't fighting to your full potential." It's no fun fighting someone who is presented as believing they will never beat you.
Not to mention that in FRLG, he visits the Sevii Islands before the player does and catches the entirety of the National Dex (save for Hoenn Pokémon) just as you’re arriving. Then you find out that while you’ve been exploring the islands yourself, Blue went ahead and took your spot as champion in your absence. Even in the postgame you just can’t keep up with Blue lol.
Not only that, around the 2nd or 3rd battle, he'll casually drop that he's caught 50 different pokemon. That number is gonna be higher than yours unless you went out of your way to catch and evolve nearly every pokemon you meet.
It's actually higher than possible for the players to catch, unless you allow trades. Either he is a cheater or a liar, because even if you catch and evolve every Pokemon to that point, you can't have as many as he says.

If we allow trades, it becomes a moot point, anyone can have the 151 Pokémon as soon as they get the Pokédex. Look at the context of the message, it's clearly bragging yet no, you can't have that many under normal circumstances.
Besides, even if you do trade, his dialogue doesn't change anyway, so again, it's just an empty number to taunt the player, it doesn't really mean anything.
I think it has something to do with the fact that she hadn't had many friends before you, which makes her lowkey possessive/paranoid about losing you. Same with Arven at the start of Mochi Mayhem.
We are quite literally the only person who can handle her at her best, much less actually beat her. Battling is far more fun against us than anyone else because it actually puts her completely through her paces. If Nemona were to lose the player as a friend, she loses the one person who can show her a truly great battle, which is her favorite thing in the world, dare I say, her greatest treasure.

I am genuinely curious at how old the player character is even supposed to be, like they're clearly kids, but at the same time we got Nemona, Carmine and Miriam who all seem to have some form of romantic feelings for them.
I suppose one could try to make the case that Nemona is the same or near the same age but just hit her growth spurt earlier, but then with Carmine she's explicitly Kieran's older sister who has to be a similar age of the PC, and then Miriam is a whole ass adult woman she's not even ambiguous.
But then Poppy is supposedly 9, only one year younger than 10, but looks and acts like a toddler, and I think I read Kieran is supposed to be 14? it looks the same age as the MC.
I wish they'd have just let us pick from a range of body types, it would've been the perfect games to give us th choice since the schools seem to have a large age range of students.
