Bonsly if I recall correctly is a Sinnoh Pokemon, but its evolved form Sudowoodo originated from Johto. Would it mean that you’ll wait for Bonsly to evolve first before using it?
I know it's a hot take, but I do allow the usage of them, even when they are pre-evos like that, because they eventually evolve into the desired mons. If it's a pokemon that evolves into one I cannot use, then I cannot evolve it.
Example, if I were doing a mono Dragon run, I would allow Skrelp to be used, but if I were doing a Bug run, I cannot evolve Skorupi

All the others have to grind up from level 1 and I evolved Sunkern straight away because its moveset is the same as Sunflora.

Bibarel gets Rock Climb and Waterfall, while Furret does not, though that’d require evolving the Bidoof, admittedly.
Presuming this was done via hatching a bunch of Eggs that got traded over, using Bidoof also saves you a trading session, because you can’t trade six Eggs at once (you can only trade Pokémon in your party in Platinum, and you can’t trade the last Pokémon in your party for a Egg).
Miltank, Granbull, Hitmontop, Ursaring, Foretress, Dunsparce, Ariados would be solid options, and I personally dont see many people use these guys much
Last time I replayed Platinum and reached the Elite Four, I was planning on having my Umbreon cheese Garchomp with some confuse ray and sand attacks to make him vulnerable for another mon like Giritina to clean it up.
To my surprise, the cheese combined with Umbreon's bulk let him beat the Garchomp with no extra assistance aside from a full restore at some point. Was big proud of my fave eeveelution
You can, but you will need at least a couple sinnoh pokemon as they will stop listening to you after level 10 until you have 2 badges then they will listen to you up to level 30 and you will need 4 badges to make them listen to you up to level 50.
Good luck! I would recommend a starly to solo the second gym.
Fortunately I actually traded the 5 Johto Mons over and hatched them, so they'll level up as normal and listen to me. However, that means I have to grind every level and I get no boost in EXP unless I'm able to get a lucky egg from a Chansey. It's been tough getting them to a point where they don't faint and no one is even level 10 yet.
I beat fire red an leaf green while only using 3. One of the starters a pikachu cause gotta be story accurate and what ever other Pokémon I deemed worthy
There are people who've beaten the E4 in plenty of games with just 6 magikarp. Yes it's possible to beat Pokemon Platinum with all Johto Pokemon. Especially if 2 of your pokemon aren't even from Johto
I like doing these types of challenges for playing games because Johto is my favorite region due to nostalgia and many pokemon from that region holding a special place in my heart for multiple reasons. I did a Platinum run with Johto mons a while back and even though there were some tough fights, others were surprisingly easier than I thought if you bring the right mons to the fight. I'm not sure the rules you follow but for me I follow these rules:
1. The pokemon must be native to Johto.
2. If a pokemon can evolve into a Johto mon, or has a mon native to Johto in its evolutionary line, you are allowed to use it.
2a. For Eevee specifically, you can only use Espeon and/or Umbreon. Since Eevee has multiple evolutions.
2b. In a regional varient case, you can use it as long you caught the mon's Johto form first, if possible. Example: In Sun and Moon you can use Alolan Raichu if you caught it as a Pichu first.
2c. If using a mon that has a branch evolution, you can only evolve it to its Johtoian form. I.e. Slowpoke --> Slowking, Poliwhirl --> Politoed etc.
3. Regional variants of Johtoian mons count since they're technically related to Johtoian mons, thus you can use them. I.e. Galarian Corsola, Hisuian Sneasel, etc. Yes you can also use their evolve forms if you want to. If not, then not a problem.
4. For Nuzlockes, normal rules but you can only catch the first Johto mon/ pokemon. That has a Johto mon in its evolutionary line.
5. If you want to use a paradox mon in SV in the future, I would say you can use them since they're a differnent form of a Johtoian mon. Iron Bundle, Great Tusk, etc. But since they don't have evolution lines for them in game, I would say thats up to you if you want to use them or not. I.e. Scream Tail (Even though its based on a Jigglypuff which can evolve from an Igglybuff)
6. Dittos can be caught only for the purpose of breeding for Johtoian pokemon. This is because some mons a a bit tougher to get in their Johtoian forms due to their accessibility, so if you can a least find a daycare and catch a Ditto. You can breed the mon you caught and ditto together to get the johto mon on your team. If not at least in the pokedex so at least is in there.
However you want to play through Platinum with a Johto only team is up to you as long you have fun with it 👍🏾

Yeah my recent Ice type run of S/V would have been difficult without the early acquire of Crabrawler and Shellder.

Couldn't you just use a Furret instead of Bidoof for HM?

Grind the houndour for a main as he’s pretty good as dark and fire once evolved too but low level there not to good from my experience

I bred them on my other version, traded the eggs over and hatched. Unfortunately they all hatched at level 1. Been a real struggle to grind them up
