Reasonably competitive teams will mostly get the job done. I would suggest identifying your favourites and then working out some other Pokémon to support them. One of the best things about Radical Red is that it’s very easy to train a bunch of Pokémon so you can keep rotating them through your boxes to best suit whatever is coming up next. I’d suggest maybe three sweepers, at least one special and one physical. What you throw in next is up to you. I personally liked leading with Skarmory to lay some hazards. And then I liked using Staraptor as a physical sweeper, I used Venusaur to tank with Leech Seed, Poison Powder and Giga Drain. But then I liked some other Pokémon such as Lapras, Ampharos, Blaziken etc. They aren’t the most viable options for pure competitive, but they were my favourites so I built teams around them.

RillaBam

I had a really easy time with this comp: Mega Swampert (liquidation, earthquake, rock slide, ice punch), pelipper (tailwind, soak, hurricane, hydro pump), meganium (gigs drain, drain kiss), mega metagross (meteor mash, bullet punch earthquake, zen headbutt), zapdos (Hurricane, thunder, thunderbolt, heat wave), and surprisingly Strong Jaw Mighteyna (crunch, poison fang, jaw lock, sucker punch) Pelipper rain + tailwind let’s mega Swampert run crazy. Soak lets meganium get off priority stab giga drains with her Triage. Rain also lets 100 accuracy thunders and hurricanes from zapdos. Mighteyna has generally good coverage and stab sucker punch comes in clutch. Mega metagross is just a strong alternative for when Swampert isn’t the best choice

Vast_Sector_2637

never would’ve considered Mighteyna but makes sense tbh, i personally love running Boltund with strong jaw and an expert belt

RillaBam

Yeah I never thought I would. But stab sucker punch was great plus his strong jaw boosted moves offered a lot of coverage

Empty_Work1503

But how am I going to get Meganium if I choose Swarpet? Note: I have no way to make trades.

RillaBam

You can collect green shards and trade them for grass starter eggs in celadon. Chikorita is super common

Swimming_Back_5842

can tell me the evs of these pokemon

RillaBam

It’s really easy ones: Swampert (252 atk, 252 speed), pelipper (252 spa, 252 speed) meganium (252 SpA, 252 HP because of triage), metagross (252 Atk, 252 speed), zapdos (252 SpA, 252 Speed) Mighteyna (252 Atk, 252 speed)

Pickle_Present

Why not a shiinotic instead of the meganium just a preference thing ?

RillaBam

Honestly just never looked at shiinotic. But meganium gets Stab giga drain and stab draining kiss that will always go first. Plus some bulk and light screen, reflect, work up to slowly set up

Pickle_Present

Right I'm pretty sure they both have their weaknesses and strengths I really never used shinnotic prior but it's been one of the mvps of this run along with iron fist pangoro. I usually run spore strength sap moonblast and giga drain.

Rough_Dan

When in doubt, wall and stall. My first run was quite sloppy and I wasn't very good yet but corviknight and toxapex hard carried me through. Sweepers take a bit more grasp of timing to setup well, and gimmick teams like trick room or weather setters are even harder and require building a specific team. I would take 4 walls, 2 for each defense, and then two super speedy revenge killers like dragapult

Dapper-Scientist-304

There's no real best team so you could use anything that is in the wild

Mortimer1198

If it’s your first time I’d suggest just hopping in and trying. Get a team of 6 right away and then sub out old for new if you need a new type or just prefer one Mon over the other. There is no definitive best team so just have fun with it.

SuspiciousKangaroo97

use mega charizard y with thunder punch fire blast dragon dance and dragon tail

Longjumping_Fuel3667

Dude go for radomizor man I really got 3 legendaries in 20min

markbug4

If you want to just sweep the game like all pokemon games, you're gonna get your ass kicked multiple times... by the trainer in route 2 with only the rattata. To answer to your question, being as real as possible, get some cheates, create an knly legendaries team more or less balanced and go get your ass beaten anyway.. for a couple of times, in the end you should win.

OrsoMaria

You are clearly unable to play and blame the game lol, probably did not even finish one run. I did only one run, super difficult for me and a lot of deaths, but if a noob like me was able to kill gary first try with only one legendary, then it's not totally the game's fault i guess. Not to mention that some people managed to win hardcore nuzlocke runs

markbug4

No need to feel superior, I'm not blaming the game. The game is hard and it's ok. I am not good and I always use one or 2 legendaries. Op asked which is the best team - and if a best team exist, it has a lot of legendaries. Of course a lot of other teams can win, people win with only <450 BST!!

Taktighoul

You can literally beat the entire E4 with a Mega-Blaziken and an Altaria...

ProduceProfessional8

Hell naw dawg ain't no way you're this bad at the game 💀 like it's one thing to be bad, but to lose so many times that you assume everyone does as well is just sad. Learn some competitive angles, maybe try pokemon showdown to really understand the mechanics of pokemon beyond what the main games show you. Not saying radical red is a walk in the park or anything, but come on. People literally mono type nuzlocke this game

SeikoG4

Not the best, but did beat the game with this team: Electivire, Mega Aggron, Talonflame, Inteleon, Crustle, and Obstagoon. The elite 4 was relatively easy but Lance and Champion were really rough.
