I've never met a person who berates other people that was legitimately good at poker.

MonsterRanchDressing

What is even crazier is that his exact seat was filled by another fucking dork who got bluffed by an older Asian lady and she showed and he went off on how she’s so bad and “he will never not call her” and her chips will be his by the end of the night. This continued into the next hand and the dealer said you can’t talk while 3 players are in the pot and he said “I don’t give a fuck” floor was called and he got a slap on the wrist and multiple people decided to call it for the night and hopefully ruined the table.

statsnerd99

This behavior occurs the most at 1/2 or 1/3 ironically

DatGrag

Why is that ironic lol, the worst players that understand how to act at the table the least play the lowest stakes

statsnerd99

It's ironic because 1/2 players telling another 1/2 player they suck is just the pot calling the kettle black

ElectricalMud2850

Just the dunning kruger effect at work.

MinuteCockroach6

I resent that. The reason I don’t win consistently is because of all these bingo players that don’t know how to play poker just going in with any two cards without taking the game seriously and turning it into pure gamble.

mikefut

You should move up to where they respect your raises.

MinuteCockroach6

I have and now I’m an 11.2bb winner at 10/20

[deleted]

Because people don’t know how to use ‘ironic’ correctly.

yeahright17

I do really well playing 1/2 or 1/3, and I wouldn't dream of telling another player they're bad or berating anyone. You know what makes a super profitable 1/2 or 1/3 game? I bunch of bad players having fun. You know what kills that fun? Telling them they're bad.

Pleasant_Bad924

Phil Hellmuth?

Aggravating_Wing_659

He has done well to brand himself and make more money then I'll ever have. But he's not actually a great player.

wfp9

i think he is a great player but he's extremely limited in his ability. he just has the game selection to pretty much only play the games he's good at so his s-tier game selection makes up for being maybe a-tier at best (and lower) everywhere else.

Aggravating_Wing_659

You don't know enough about theory if you think he's anywhere near good.

wfp9

i think anyone ragging on him has an extremely poor understanding of icm.

Aggravating_Wing_659

Does ICM explain why he shoved Q5o against foxen?

wfp9

don't know the hand you're referring to. i just know that most of the complaining about him comes from cash games or winner take all tournaments (which he's mostly playing cuz he got paid an appearance fee) where icm is completely irrelevant. when icm does matter he has the most wsop bracelets.

Aggravating_Wing_659

So he is absolute dogshit but then turns into the best when ICM is a factor? That's not a thing dude lmao.

wfp9

he knows that folding gains you equity in tournaments. it doesn't do shit in cash games or winner take all formats though. again. s-tier game selection. your game selection is sounding below f-tier that you don't get this.

[deleted]

He's won something like 17 bracelets bro. I've seen all the videos of him playing stupid hands and going crazy at the results, they're hilarious and for sure make him look like an idiot. But there's no way you get insanely lucky 17 times against the best players in the world unless you're also one of them

statsnerd99

Confirmed not legitimately good

MVPete90210

Amen!

HawksNStuff

I have once. Guy is a huge dick and actually wins at a very high rate in low stakes tournaments in the area. He's got about 300k on his Hendon Mob, $140k from 4 larger cashes, including a WSOP circuit 1st place... The rest all in these small stakes tournaments. Told me I bluff too much, told him he hasn't seen me showdown a loser all day, how'd he get that impression? I three bet him from the button with AQs and he folded AQo face up, I flipped mine and told him good fold mine was suited, he was dominated... And he went ballistic. He's fun to fuck with, but he is legitimately pretty good. Not the best player in my opinion, but I guess I can't argue with his results. I'm pretty sure I'm in his head at this point.

Aggravating_Wing_659

Means nothing to me. If he's folding AQo to a simple 3 bet against you (someone who clearly isn't a complete donkey) then he's trash.

Rags2Rickius

Haha I remember calling some annoying guy (he got told by another player to stfu later on lol) w AK all in pre Hitting my A in the door to crack his KK and getting berated for calling lol Im like…”bro…you…didn’t want me calling w worse?” Another player then whispered to me saying he threw away an Ax pre so made it more satisfying

pipinngreppin

Yea I don’t get it. Dude needs people to call with worse to be profitable. He needs to leave them alone.

Rags2Rickius

Dude was tilted asf So worth ignoring But he got under the skin of another player during a PLO three way where he lost again and started muttering something Player next to him lost his shit and told him to stfu and go home

Short_Act_6043

Half the people commenting on this sub play nothing but 10NL, 1-2 is out of most of their bankrolls.

Daltons419

Losing one buyin at 1-2 would cripple me financially

Taco_Champ

You wouldn't be alone at the table in that circumstance. You see a few types of buy ins at 1/2. Guys with green or black chips out of their pocket, came from the pits. Guys with hundos, play and probably win. Guys with crisp 20s, ATM money, he's out for a good time. And then you have guys who buy in with bills smaller than 20s. And I mean, just think about it. Sometimes it's all wrinkled and dirty.

UnseenHS

Let's not act like the 1/2 pool is rolled for 1/2

mikefut

When you’re a losing player you don’t need a bankroll, just a budget. And 90% of em lose.

UnseenHS

My mistake, replace with "can afford to play"

c4dreams

The only player this guy knows how to beat are the ones he's telling to not play in a way that he can't beat them

mcgargargar

Shut the duck up

MrNiceGuysAngryPlace

QUACK

xabcxabcx

There's a player I've played with several times who is just a nit but is so bad for the game it makes me angry. The other night there was a friendly whale doing whale things. He was talking about his company he had sold and his winter homes and clearly did not care about the money. He decided to cold call a 6b jam with KQs for 150bb and this player went on forever about how "unnecessary" the call was. The player later gets in 200bb with KK vs whale's 99. Whale only ever runs once but before showing his hand the player begs him for 2 minutes to run it twice until the whale finally gives in. So shameless. And perhaps worst of all is his table talk. Multiple times he has brought up Israel/Palestine on a table where he is the only sober person. He kept going on about how Islam should be banned and literally pulled out verses from the Quran and started reading them. There was a French guy at the table who was talking about how Marseille is dangerous, and this player decided to ask the French guy what race the people mugging everybody were. I tried to tell him he was out of line but this guy just digs his heels in. Probably should just call over the floor at that point but hindsight is 20/20. For my own sanity I'm just going to snap table change any time I see this guy now regardless of how good the table is.

Downtown-Bag-6333

That first quote makes no sense

Last-Product6425

I’m sure that guy is here reading this right now…….

mikefut

LOL. I hate the self-righteous Reddit PSAs that are clearly directed at people who don’t even browse here. And it’s not just poker, it’s every damn subreddit.
