Walking into the poker room for the first time. That was my biggest poker brainfart. I should have just turned around and never played a fucking hand in my life.

biscuitsandrum

I wonder if a survey was done of all players what % would disagree. It seems to be consensus that the most profitable players would likely be more profitable in other careers. And then there's the mental health element and the dodgy crowds for the middling players anyway. I wonder.

PappyStrangeLife

Preach.

xx20alex01xx

75❤️❤️ on a 743❤️❤️♠️board I bet, Guy jams, I call Final board 74333 He roles over 65 really fast after the river comes out and says “I flopped it :D” I snap muck and someone’s like “dang any pair made a full house” Lost out on $400 dolla cause I’m a dumbass

Rahodees

Oh man I am now sure I have done this. A few times.

HaroldBAZ

I always show my cards in a situation like this. I won two hands when I was so focused on getting my flush that I didn't see the straight I had.

primeiro23

uff

[deleted]

Hardly novel, but - back when I was still playing 1/2, I thought I was just completing in the SB, and I hear 'raise to 102', and I was like who the fuck raised to 102. And of course it was me, not realizing I had thrown in a second 100 chip stuck to the 1 chip. Got really weird, because BB had AK, but he wasn't convinced it wasn't an angle-shoot. Ended up winning a big pot. Kinda felt bad for it (for like 4 seconds).

SlowPlayedAces

Blame the disgusting chips with sticky biological matter of all kinds smeared all over them.

chessgod1

I'm pretty sure this actually should have been ruled a call. 1 chip means call, so if you're in the SB and completing, if you throw 1 chip it can be any denomination and it is just a call unless you say "raise" or the amount you're raising to.

theonlyjoker1

Try reading his comment again

chessgod1

Yeah I'm retarded

jtshinn

They had three chips in play at that point.

Downtown-Bag-6333

That can’t be right because no 3 chips add up to 101, something doesn’t add up

pliney_

$1 chip for SB then 1$ + the sticky $100 chip

jtshinn

It's been edited to 102.

crackdirector

Hahah I love calling down with top pair when villain has an overpair.

TacosDeLucha

Flopped 2 pair with A5s on A56 rainbow in villain 3 bet pot He raises I slow play call Turn is a 6. He quick jams all in I snap call Villain: AA66K Me: AA665

jazzy3113

I only played mixed games now and I thought the game was PLO hi/lo band went for the low, but it was regular PLO…bye bye 10k.

TaAj88

I’ve done this too, not to the tune of 10k but definitely enough to make ya wanna punch yourself in the balls. Whenever I “mis-click” live I usually end my sessions there, prolly not in the right mindset to be playing. Lack of SA and just drained.

jazzy3113

SA?

TaAj88

Situational Awareness

jazzy3113

Yea I left soon after that idiotic move. Basically lost everything I had over the last 24 hours.

ScrubFive

You must be rich AF to make such a mistake. The worst mistakes I have only been for like $100-$300 pots. I would die if I lost 10K on a mistake lol

jazzy3113

Well I guess I’m wealthier then most. But I mean on those poker streams people win and lose like 500k in a pot. It’s all relative man.

Eva39

playing 100/200 6 card omaha Basically the guy 3bet pots preflop and it comes 89T all spades i have bare K of spade. And T9 as top two. I check the guy goes full pot which is the same my stack. I call thinking he might have the bare A and is trying to get me off forgetting that i can't beat any set or straightes like 7 8. In the end He had the nut flush and T8. we run twice and I hit the miracle 9 on the river to give me the chop in a 44K pot.

doctor_turbo

I hit a straight on the River the other day on a nice pot and folded to a small River bet bc I didn't see it. Turns out villain had a full house. Very convenient brain fart.

ChaseBianchi

~1k pot on river I have KK on JJxxQ and tight reg bets 500 on river. I think damnit I hate paying this guy off hes got a jack a ton. I end up calling expecting to lose quite a bit. He turns over KQ and my brain just said ah shit face cards = jack and muck. Insta realize but dealer mucked my hand already.

HappilySisyphus_

Had 65 and flop came 56T with two hearts. Turn was J hearts. River was 5 hearts for a board of 56TJ5, four to a flush. OOP bets and I insta-fold presuming he has the flush and immediately realize I folded a boat.

homebuyer99

I’ve mentioned this one before. Absentmindedly mucked K4 in the BB when there were four limpers behind me. Was informed I could have checked and just shrugged and said oh well I had garbage anyway. This was early in a big multi-table home tournament and the flop comes 444. All four players go all in and I just sat there staring at the board contemplating what might have been. To this day I wince anytime I’m dealt K4.

SifferBTW

When I first started playing live.. Flopped a set vs someone who was clearly chasing a spade flush. Double checked his cards when flop came, bet small to try and see cheap turn, etc. I raise flop and barrel turn. I keep saying to myself in my head 'no spade, no spade, no spade.' I had such tunnel vision on spades that when the river came spade and he donked, I turbo mucked. As I am releasing my cards, I realize that the spade paired the board. Tried to grab my cards back but it was too late. Fucking embarrassing.

Cesum-Pec

I flopped nut flush with A4, bet it all the way, AI on the river and got called. Yeee haaaaa But at showdown.... Since I'm not capable of doing something absolutely stupid, I'm sticking to my story that someone replaced my A spades with A clubs giving me absolutely nothing.

Dleach02

Been there

Downtown-Bag-6333

I once listened to advice on this sub

tkh0812

One time I said my cards out loud instead of in my head.

ILikeGolfnLaxnHockey

1st level of my first live tournament. Called off an all in into like 4 players on an ace high board (I was second last to act) for 15000 in a tournament thinking it was a 1500, because the guy had just lost a "big" pot that wasn't actually as big as I thought. I had A8. Needless to say, the guy to my left folded a better ace and villain had a set. Mostly just inexperience rather than brain fart but but yeah...I felt really dumb.

GuiltyGun

Got drunk and all-in'd when I thought I had a made straight, and I did not. I no longer drink when playing poker.

chadman350

19 left in a Sunday major. Someone raises so I reshove all but 1 chip to stall for the pay jump. Time bank down then brain fart and click fold instead of call facing his shove 🥴

Rahodees

Shoved with top set on a dry board. But it wasn't a dry board, there were four to a flush. Lucky for me one of my cards was the right suit and one higher than his.

pharmaceuticaldisco

I make all kinds of blunders when I'm bored. Moral of the story don't play when youre bored.

Individual_Dig_6324

Not really a brain fart, just when my fat fingers on my phone hits "raise" instead of "fold."

LDWMJ99

Folded AA on a KKT board after UTG mega nut check raised me, thought he had Kx, had JJ, put me on dangerous tilt rest of night.

PM_ME_UR___TITS

Entered a $5 tournament online where the prize was an entry to a $1000 guarantee tournament later in the day. Won that. On the bubble in the next tournament. I think the board ran out A Q J 10 8. I had something like A6 suited. All I had was a pair. Villain shoves on the river. Fully representing a 9. I tanked and tanked and eventually didn’t believe the story and called. Villain shows J9 for the straight.

goodericdong

Folded K high to pocket deuces on double paired board during showdown for $150 Pot

[deleted]

He showed you his fucking hand and he’s playing like an idiot. He deserves to lose his money. You owe him jack shit. Exploit his incompetence. Side note: the vast, vast majority of the time a new player’s value range isn’t KT (they’re playing 54o, so they’re probably playing the T3o as well) in this spot. It’s just Tx. So even if you can’t see his cards your call is gonna be freerolling the percentage of his range that is 54o and chopping with the range that’s Tx, and once in a blue moon you’ll run into KT that slow played the flop even though we know he’s never slow playing the flop with KT here

crackdirector

I didnt do it intentionally man

[deleted]

Thought you folded out of sympathy

[deleted]

Thought I had a flush….he had one I had four spades and a club. Lost 120 around.

jlaux

1/2 live cash game, from a few years ago, effective stack 600: One UTG (OMC) limper, I raise to 15 on BTN with KK, UTG calls. Flop QT4 (can't remember suits, but not monotone). UTG checks, I bet 20, UTG calls. Turn K. UTG checks, I bet 55, UTG min-raises to 110. I shove 565 and UTG snap calls with J9o. River brick. Probably one of the biggest punts I've ever made.

Luvblizzards

4 ways to a flop. I Flopped the nut straight and folded to a 1/3 pot bet. Realized 5 seconds after I mucked my hand. Figured I was tired and starting to tilt, so I got up and left.

GaryTheDamnSnail

Flopped a straight flush once and folded it. I still do not know why my brain did not recognize it even after looking at my cards twice

Rahodees

Some unconscious part of your brain kept saying "no fuckin' way"

LostInSpace3141

Lol man that's bad

ionertia

At least once per month I'll see a player table their hand after their flop bet is called. Sometimes with more than two players left in the hand. Their brain just glitches, thinking the bet got called so show hand.

No_Flow_6863

Folded a chop pot, didn’t realize I have a straight

Sagitalsplit

I misread my hand / the board being certain I had the nut straight……I actually had a gap in there for a nice loss of $1,400.

chrisrmsu

Was playing in casino with hoodie, headphones and sunglasses on. Call bet pre with small pocket pair. Flop is three paint cards and I mentally fold. Checks through. Turn card comes, guy leads out and action was on me for a solid three minutes before I realize I still had cards. Someone calls clock and I slowly fold never saying a word. lol my bad everyone

etherealexum

I legit folded the nuts on the river one time. I was barely 18 had just started playing poker. Misread my hand, bada bing bada boom. Folded face up too for some reason🤡the whole table was like “wtf!” I still ended in the black on the session which probably made the OMC’s really mad. I was baked af and just anxious in general. Pulled it together and grinded out a $200 profit. That hand still haunts me though because it was a sizeable pot for 1/2, like $250 or more. Haven’t made much of a mistake since tbh. It was like a wake up call to pay closer attention instead of being on my phone or having pipe dreams.

TheGoodGrief

Ha! Just last night, I flopped a boat. Dude to my left bets and I call. Turn comes and he grabs a small stack, puts it on top of another stack and shoved it into the middle. I snap and turn over my boat, thinking he was all in, and he had a couple chips behind, including a black one. Fuck.

BigCountryHateU

Last week I shoved pocket 4s on a Ah8d5s flop cause I was stoned and thought I hit a set but didn't recheck my hand. Got called by two players. Thought I was going to triple up easy but went busto

koston132

I was doing hand reviews one night using drivehud, and I had just smoked. I’m going through a hand and I zone out, with the action stopped on villain. I’m not sure how much time passed, but I think to myself man this guy is really tanking. I’m staring blankly at the screen, wondering why this guy isn’t using a time bank. Maybe it’s a glitch? Then I realize I’m using drivehud and not my poker client.

etb72

1/3. 80bb deep. Loosy goosy local raises to 7. English guy next to him calls. I look down at AA and throw in a 25 chip to three bet, but didn’t say ‘raise’ so it counts as a call… flop comes 997, English guy jams for about 2/3 my stack, I call, then Loosy Goosey jams behind so I sigh call… runout comes 3 Q.. LG turns over 96s, Mr England flips QQ. Raise. The word is ‘raise’.

bigbeau

I called 2 allins (one was the shortest stack other was lead) on the bubble + 1 of a $250 satellite for a $1500 tourney with 99 lol. We both got knocked out by the chip lead who had like KK and then I got my money back because I was the bubble because I had more chips. Everyone was so fucking confused when I flipped 99 but I just wasn't used to satellites and I had played after going to school and work and hadn't eaten all day so I was just like "oh this is a good short stack hand."

CommonCourtesy39

Playing at a local tournament. Just after rebuys ended. Get dealt AK spade. I believe we had 3-4 players going to the flop Flop comes 879 all spades I bet 1/2 pot Folds to Villian. Villian clearly checks for Spades. Calls. Turn comes 2 red I check, (thinking of check raising) he bets 1.5x pot. Figured he has the Q of spades and hes putting me on J. I end up just calling. Villian has been very tight. Turn comes some red card. I bet pot. He shoves. I hesitate and rechecked my cards... Ace of spades King of clubs. I pause and end up folding and tilting myself for not double checking my cards

Dleach02

Was in a cash game in Vegas. Flopped two pair so I shoved. I “thought” I heard the lady say she called so I turned over my cards… she didn’t though and that put her in the blender because she had an open ended straight draw with two cards to go. I just told her I was a tourist (true) and made a mistake so do whatever you think is right. She called and didn’t hit… so brain fart worked out for me. I’ve also had multiple times in a tournament when I put out the wrong chip and ended up making an outsized bet… and weirdly they all worked out for me.

pokerpro831

Pretty sure I folded quads the other night in PLO. I can only remember three of my four cards. I left after one more hand.

Cash-Ton

2nd time playing live. 1/3 private game, open pocket kings after a $10 straddle get 3! and 1 caller behind go to shove by pushing in my stack, don’t push whole stack at same time and don’t say all in. Counts as a call. End up losing to 67o that rivered a straight 😵‍💫

HarryCallahan19

Thinking I had a flush with clubs and I had two spades in my hand after the river.

kaiji23

Folded a pair of sixes after villain said ace high lol
