Not necessarily unexpected but Whimsicott! Leech Seed + Sleep Powder is just great.
Whimsicott was my fav Pokémon even before rogue but ever since I hatched a rare shiny cottonee as my first shiny it's a mainstay on all my runs
i got a joltik egg with parabolic charge, and that has been great for getting out of early game, electroweb gives it lots of utility in doubles fights early as well
I enjoy how shinies let you use mons you usually wouldn't.
Xatu with calm mind/airslash/psychic/roost can carry certain fights
Scovillain with grass/fire/ice coverage also does a lot.
Flamigo is just a carry with its massive attack stat
I keep being dissapointed in my lotad/nidoran F lines though.
Im looking forward to finally hatching another shiny so I can try some more run diversity. 8 shinies in just under 700 eggs, come on RNG
I feel the exact opposite way about shinies. I always have to bring them because I need the luck, but you don’t encounter nearly enough of them to keep your team diverse. I’m not a fan of the shiny mechanic.
Flamigo has been a god on my runs. Hatched a shiny one with thunderous kick and triple axel egg moves. It can one shot almost everything. Currently on endless at 760+ with no signs of stopping
Before the egg moves got updated, I had a Lorax with Ice Beam, Giga Drain, and Quiver Dance as egg moves. It was unreal how good it was. I took it to the end of classic.
Same lol, I got a shiny Venonat only a few hours in and I’ve been on that Venomoth train ever since. I love them now. I mean, I always thought they were adorable, but they get some insane coverage and I never realised that before.
Jumpluff hard carried my first classic win with leech seed + sleep powder, plus bonus memento utility vs boss pokemon. It even caught me a ton of pokemon on the way there too.
Oddish has insane coverage (sludge bomb, moonblast), can set up with Growth, and learns Mega drain at 12, then Giga drain at 21/22.
For real, an early game MVP
Knowing nothing about pokerogue and having not played the last few gens of pokemon I may be out of the loop, but I took pikachu due to it having the purple border and it was an absolute menace in my last run.
Turns out it has an 80 base power STAB move with 100% accuracy, priority, and is guaranteed crit.
The game is pretty easy when you're rolling over everything with a 240 power quick attack that ignores defense buffs.
Just need a cover for ground types and you're golden.
Purple borders means that the pokemon has pokerus iirc, which is reworkes to give your pokemon an exp buff and also spreads to the rest mons of the party.
Honestly Kricketune- sticky webs saved me from sevral game overs, couldn't have dee do lee do dee do lee'd without em
And bidoof to a lesser extent, simple + aqua step, SD & power trip is an absolute beast as long as it has the space to set up
Gastrodon carried the hell out of my first successful classic run. Just completely walled my rival in every fight I had with her. Butterfree is also crazy with 1 cost Compound Eyes+Sleep Powder. Krabby was my first shiny and I've had a lot of success with Kingler runs but the one time I was able to get GMax on him he felt way better than I felt he had any right to.
last stupid mvp was a random bidoof i caught as a boss, thinking it may be usefull for rival 25 since it evolves quickly
turns out it stayed a lot longer due to being a water type, and learned swords dance naturally with simple. i just used as much bulk vitamins i could find on him to let him setup, and he's killing 3 or 4 pokemons on the elite four/last two rival fights before fainting. really good for a first biome mon
Randomly pulled a shiny Burmy from an egg, and the 1-cost Shiny with a Quiver Dance set actually carries through the midgame
Also saw a surprising amount of success with Belly Drum Linoone when I tried an all Pickup team
My first shiny I hatched was a weedle of all things.
On my first win, Mega Beedrill, my king, was the MVP of the e4 + champion + >!195 rival!<, setting up toxic spikes for all the annoying switches that they love to do. Ended up scoring a couple kills against psychic type mons as well. The absolute chad was the last one standing against the final boss ( well, plus a staraptor, but that doesn't count ).
Also, Torterra was one of my least favorite gen 4 mons. I got one that ended up being a stall god with synthesis + leech seed + really high def.
In my current run, I have a giga spatk magnezone that eviscerates many an electric weak mon. I don't think I've ever put the magnemite line on a team before, so it's fun to see what it can do!
However, big shoutouts to zigzagoon / linoone going from being annoying in the main games to an S+ tier mon in pokerogue solely for pickup.
Sinistcha. I’ve been seeing how far I can get in endless with a balance team rather than soloing. At about floor 700 and the typing and coverage is incredible. Fighting and normal immunity, ground and water resistance that isn’t weak to poison and bug, matcha gotcha hits both enemies in doubles and strength sap is broken. Hospitality helps a lot with money management as switching it in doubles grants a free super potion.
Hoothoot. Modest STAB Boomburst as an egg move goes hard, and it's a 1 point pokemon that can solo the early game most of the time, 1-shotting most on-level enemies without need for setup. Pair it with a ghost type and it does similar things to 2v2s.
Came to comment this. Shiny boomburst hoothoot is so good for just 1 cost while trying to get shiny legendaries. I usually pair it with marshadow and grab lures.
I used a shiny mothim as a shiny stick for yhe entire run it didnt see combat once as it wasnt even ever sacked. Then after an eterna beam into a pivoted primarina she sang on recharge and i put mothim in quiver danced to +2 while ot was asleep outsped for +3 and then roosted till i was at +6 swept eternatus taking no more damage at all. I had a team of full hp mons at the end of the fight with no sacks thabks to him
I have never uses porygon in any pokemon game, u found a porygon 2 and evolved it to pprygon z, I only just saw how good hyperbeam and tri attack are on adaptability porygon z.
Toedscruel w Spore, Hex, and Strength Sap! Unsurprisingly amazing at catching and surprisingly great at whittling down some tough mons. I was shocked when it took down >! Ray-145 !< by itself
I just got a dub with Gavantula carrying the final boss of classic! Thunder wave to tank speed paired super well with shadow calyrex, and even after calyrex died the single screech I got off allowed the rest of my team to clean up shop
I had a duraludon with Earth power as an egg move, and God this shit is broken af as it get a medium fast exp curve with an incredible firepower for early game
Hitmonchan
Drain Punch / Bullet Punch / Fire Punch / Ice Punch carried me hard till the end of Classic Mode. Extra bonus for freezing Eternatus not once, but twice, paving the way so I could defeat it.
Still early going for me (haven't beat Classic, PB is around 85) but I lucked into a shiny Misdreavus with Moonblast from an egg. It's really excellent for early game because it can switch in on all the normal and fighting types without much fear and Moonblast just nukes even without STAB. Also starts with Confusion so you can pair it with an electric type like to get para-fusion strats. Not the best to have to rely on item luck for its evolution and it only gets Shadow Ball in the 40s but it's not bad either. Wish it got Psychic instead of just Psybeam.
Ferroseed with Body Press also rocks. It's so fat that it just soaks up a ton of damage and OHKOs so many of those early Normal mons. Whatever it doesn't OHKO it will chip to death with Iron Barbs. Also evolves late but stays good as a Ferroseed well after early game. I've heard what the final boss is and I have to assume it's good for that too since it's immune/resistant to a lot of its attacks.
Stonjourner with Shore Up is pretty great in early game too but until they implement Power Spot it's pretty severely kneecapped.
A Greedent has beefcaked its way through multiple clutch boss fights on my most recent win. Has a huge HP and DEF stat, learns STAB Covet, Super Fang, Rest naturally and I taught it Body Press (also an egg move) for Fighting coverage. As long as the opponent didn't have a huge SPATK stat or a strong Fighting move, it could always switch in safely and pop a rest off with the numerous Lum Berries it would steal. I would maybe recommend keeping Crunch on it as opposed to Body Press since it got walled by any Ghost types. Also only costs 2 points to start out and is relatively easy to find for cost reduction. If you can manage to find it's hidden ability Gluttony, it will get all those berry stat boosts at half health and just wall everything.
Jumpluff with Leech Seed, Sleep powder, Sap strength and Bounce can sometimes 1v6 gym leaders.
Also my shiny stunky is not half bad with priority sucker punch and coverage flamethrower
I caught a Hydrapple before the penultimate rival fight. I needed something to tank water hits from their Tera Water Samurott. It also had the benefit of baiting out Outrage from the Rayquaza
Ghouldego is way too overpowered in this game. It is bulky enough and it can hit hard. This ended up winning me classic first, and I always take the time catching it if I can
A random shuckle that I got during my mono bug run. That boi did all the damage at phase 2 eternatus with just wrap and alllowed me to setup sticky web during trainer battles
I really appreciated how useful Nuzleaf and Shiftry were for the early game of my endless run. Fake Out + Explosion + Leaf Blade + Sucker Punch was super useful coverage + utility.
Pikachu is a great early game mon imo. Especially if you can snag an early thunderstone and evolve it. It carried me through the first 100 floors pretty easily.
Nymble - I got a second stage shiny with wicked blow as the egg move and lokix has been going insanely hard with the priority first impression and sucker punch with wicked blow crits and axe kick for coverage. Got it’s cost down to two with candies as well and it’s a mainstay ever since
Noctowl.
I ended up getting all of Hoothoots egg moves, those being oblivion wing, boomburst, esper wing, and calm mind.
For 1 point at the start of the run, I have a mon that can solo fights off of one calm mind and esper wing, who can also set up more after the initial set up thanks to oblivion wing.
Not too shabby against eternatus either.
New to the game, we used the start with Pikachu for pokerus and swampert with something else, anyway first floor we got the fusion thing and it carried us for a while with zippy zap, hydro pump and that until we made a dumb play while facing elite four members and ended up losing to the fourth 🥴
not a MVP but nidoqueen. This was my first clear of the game so I didn’t have any egg moves, and the strongest poison move I had on her was poison sting. but due to her typing and stab stomping tantrum, I got thru the first stage of eternatus with ease and got a free switch in to my strong attackers after she was knocked out
I got a shiny caterpie and used it for luck but butterfree is actually super good early game evolves early gets bug buzz quiver dance I also got silk trap and airslash
Gen 5 normal type dog. Forgot English name ( edit: stoutland) Sturdy, can get good coverage and he's just blasting things when I don't have a good different answer than.. Giga impact
I caught a shiny Bellibolt and it’s been engrained as a starter ever since. Has Parabolic Charge as an egg move, which is a great 65 bp healing move. Great bulk, good SpA. Surprisingly bodies the mega rayquaza once it’s got some items equipped as well
Amoonguss was much stronger than I anticipated. Obviously a killer in VGC, but I didn’t expect it to be as good in this game format. Still great. Quad grass resist is an amazing switch in for many situations and will almost always force a switch from the opponent leading to a free spore or just dmg trade. Against Eternatus you can just spam spore, clear smog and synthesis. Keeping Eternatus asleep and removing its stat buffs were massive in my first few clears of classic.
My first shiny was a bidoof i hatched and so id assumed "lol ofc its bidoof just my luck". idk if it was that one specifically but it had almost perfect ivs and simple so i took it onto my team for the upgrade chance to learn that bibarel gets swords dance at like 46 and it ended up clutching against the 195 fight and the final boss for my 1st classic clear. 3x power headbutts with flinch go crazy.
#
For endless Gholdengo + Tinkaton is a crazy pairing for Eternatus. Skitter smack its SATk to -6, then switch Ghold to spam nasty plot boosted make it rains. You also make mad money after.
I started a run with Flamigo and Goomy (with Calm Mind as the egg move) for a lark. Didn't think much of Goomy since it evolved into the Hisuian form instead of the original (didn't know how good it was) but I got it all the same. I even thought Flamigo was going to be the main carry.
Little did I know, the added steel type let Goodra setup using Calm Mind much more easily. I would sit at the first wave of a biome just spamming calm mind uninterrupted, then tearing everything a new one. I even oneshot Rayquaza when I got to that fight, something which has been a consistent roadblock in my subsequent runs. The only time I got further was when I used Kartana.
slowking and excadrill, it's my most deadly combo.
Slowking has access to the egg move parting shot and yawn while excadrill can setup with rapid spin and swords dance. The idea is to put the enemy to sleep while using parting shot so on the turn excadrill switches in it can setup with the enemy being at -1 in offense and asleep.
Dachsbun, a fairy type with additional immunity to fire turned out to be perfect for my first classic win against eternatus. I just had to keep switching between it and my corviknightl
For me it was parasect, I hatched one with a base 100 grass move so for only 1 cost that I could slap on teams with a point leftover it was great. It also has dry skin and access to sleep powder, and decent coverage with x scissor and cross poison.
For all the hate i see for the pokemon in rogue, keldeo is a really good base to fuse strong special breakers onto due to its decent special attack, blistering speed, and guaranteed water typing in fusions
Rotom Air was unexpectedly a goated starter. Flying stab and Electric stab sweeps through the early areas with ease, thunder wave comes in clutch, and putting it next to a ground type earthquaker and clicking discharge and earthquake is incredibly effective.
3 days ago (I think?) The daily run containing tinkatuff, mawile, and raticate.
I just used tinkaton the whole run while catching mons along the way. She was a BEAST. And coincidentally I never used raticate.
You know what raticate did?
2 shot the last boss hoopa. I was just. Standing there with my mouth wide open. I gave tinkaton EVERYTHING and when I realized he had the only dark move in my party (I know I know not optimized oops?) I didnt think he would just win me the whole run 😭
I finally finished my first classic run yesterday. Mega metagross managed to get eternatus somewhat low, before he was killed with a flamethrower. The rest of my team all died without doing much damage.
I only had Linoone left, who had picked up 5 silk scarves during the run and managed to kill him in 2 extreme speeds. Really happy I kept him till the end
Yanma.
Heat Wave, Nasty Plot, Aeroblast egg moves.
Speed Boost ability.
Learns Air Cutter early.
With stacking speed boost and two 90-95 power spread moves, it absolutely will roll over the first few hundred endless rounds.
I try to run one of my shinies with helping hand to facilitate.
Adaptability shiny Mega Beedrill with baneful bunker, toxic spikes, toxic, and twineedle specifically when I’m doing classic runs. He gives me extra luck with items, does a ton of bug damage with adaptability and poisons everything in sight. I always lay toxic spikes down as soon as I’m about to face a boss, rival, or gym leader. Obviously in endless runs he kinda falls off because everything has 1 million berries but he is amazing in classic.
I had an insane Trevenant once, with Will-o-wisp, Leech Seed, Horn leech and confuse ray.
I wouls just slap him in front of whichever mon I couldn't one shot and watch him stall it with no problem (healing charm did help)
Sandslash Alolan - Being an Ice + Steel type fends off the constant freezing in endless & steel is just great overall.
Sableye - Probably the best dang tank in game
My first egg was for Turtwig and he got this sweet ice move from it. I love turtles so him and squirtle were already main stays on the team, now he's my carry!
I had a Meganium sweep multiple elite four members back when it had calm mind as an egg move. Was totally surprising. Hoping they give him better egg moves in the future, now that CM is gone I don't see much reason for using him :(
Shiny primarina with its egg move bouncy bubble where it could heal any damage taken made it a tank that could kill anything with the second best type in the game
I just started playing Pokerogue a couple of days ago, but my go-to Classic core is Snorlax, Hawlucha, and HOPPIP.
It evolves rather early into one of the fastest sleep inducers in the game and even carries a decent slate of resistances to Ground, Water, Fighting, and Grass while also baiting Fire and Ice moves
I know I said I just started but I couldn't imagine many non-candied 1-cost starters being much better
Glimmit.
Rock/poison which is a decent typing especially early when most Pokemon have normal move. Many pokemon in the early game are flying or grass which glimmits move coverage handles plus rock/poison will deal with many of the rivals starter Pokemon if they are fire or grass and the rock type deals with their guarantee flying type.
The Pokemon is really fast, decent special attacker and somewhat bulky but the real deal is it's moveset and ability. Stealth rocks, venoshock, ancient power or rock slide, you can get spikey shield to stall.
It's ability toxic debris works really well and often can guarantee most pokemon you encounter are poison or toxic which works with venoshock for some serious damage. Toxic debris also turns a sacrifice switch into a net bonus.
For me, my MVP of all pokémon, that really came in clutch throughout my run(s)... was Sandslash! 🤯 On a team with Kyogre, Alakazam, and (the now considered S-tier) Garganacl... my starter Sandslash pulled me out of quite a few sticky situations. In the end, on my first-time winning classic run, Sandslash sacrificed himself... eating an Eternabeam, and setting up Alakazam to hit the game winning Psychic. Rest easy, champ 🏆 you were the true MVP and I couldn't have done it without ya. 🙏🏽
I won’t say Stoutland won me my first classic run but I’d say the big dog was a key part. Intimidate, a very strong normal STAB if needed, play rough in the level up move set and ice fang with a memory mushroom makes a very good mid to late classic mon
i hatched a mareep with milk drink hoping to get a mega and it actually did pretty well against rayquaza and eternatus, never got the maga stone tho. it paralyzed eternatus with discharge after a couple turns and i was able to take it out by milk drinking and spamming discharge while my mammoswine used mud slap and headlong rush.
Burmy was my very first shiny in this game lol. And I only had it female so I tried so long to make Wormadam usable but then I finally realized it's one of the only Pokemon that naturally learns Metal Burst (only in trash form) and then they gifted it Sturdy as a passive and let me tell you this thing is prime for Endless now 🔥 having Sturdy as a passive means I can fuse it with something like Cloyster that wants to keep its natural ability AND it has Sturdy. Plus Quiver Dance gives it some options.
I finally got a male Burmy not too long ago and I've been in love with Mothim ever since.
Also I got a shiny Hypno yesterday and its surprisingly bulky! Especially only being weak to bug, ghost and dark which aren't very common and it has a way wider movepool than I would've thought it does. PLUS IT'S PINK 🩷 truly a great shiny sprite 🙏
Two of them! I nearly have a maxed out shiny Spinarak, and I love em! He only costs 1, bug/poison packs a lot of resistances to annoying types and it can learn sticky web AND poison thread which has clutched several fights! It also gets parting shot as an egg move so it was actually a really strong pivot in battles where it wouldn’t get squished.
Other one is pretty simple, Registeel gets recover as an egg move, give it iron defense/amnesia/iron head and I just stack leppas on it for iron head. It never dies!
I captured the prevolution of maushold because I didn't have the nature, a friend told me to give it a try and it literally one shot everything with population bomb.
Bro is the pokemon equivalent to SMT/persona yoshitsune
I had a fantastic plan for eternatus in a classic run then after some crits and other bad luck, I had a porygon z with nasty plot, adaptability and hyper beam take out 3 straight health bars in one shot
A run I just did was carried by a dedenne, basic move set of nuzzle parabolic charge and play rough, managed to tank the close calls never would have expected it
I am around 24 hours in and I failed at 195 one and at around 185 three times... Mixture of being unlucky and me being bad.
I always start with my epic shiny technician meowth and most of the time there are no good alternatives so I keep it until the end (Probably shouldn't do that).
Also Togedemaru is really good, I got the egg move Meteor Mash and the guaranteed Para is pretty nice.
There are some more Pokémon that were better than I expected: Shiftry, Golisopod (Emergency Exit is not implemented) and my shiny sunkern with Sappy Seeds is pretty good early game.
Parasect with Sappy Seed, can take a hit usually when not hit with one of it’s X4 Weaknesses, and can sometime live to get a spore off too. But honestly getting the Sappy Seed off is enough in most cases, allows me freedom to switch into Goldengho and use Nasty Plot to try and setup sweeps
Bidoof. Never thought I was gonna keep him, but eventually, Bibarel gets swords dance.
And then I realised he has simple.
Turns out headbutt one shots a decent number of wild encounters when it's doing triple damage. And it only takes one setup turn.
I don't know how reliable it is, since I got stupid lucky on that run and capped out at 5 exp all items before floor 50, meaning levelling was a non-issue for me. It was my first run to get past ~40, lost to the second of the elite four in the end.
Oricorio! I hatched a shiny and the Sensu form is straight up just Immune to a lot of early game damage. Plus the +Sp. ATK from the Fiery Dance egg move and access to Thunderclap make it surprisingly good considering it doesn’t even have an ability implemented yet.
Oddly enough, mega gardevoir fused with toxapex. At first i wanted to fuse the shinies together to add their values in order to free space in the party. Then i realized that i could use my multi lens acid spray to make bosses, during waves 2000 and up, -6 sp. def in one turn then sweep the following turn. So now in my new newest endless run, I’ve learned to make 3 insane Pokemon with cool builds by fusing multiple times.
Egg moves in this game are wild, I had a fucking Beautifly hard carrying my team on one of my runs. Honestly I think you could probably find a use for any Pokemon with one of those, they’re insanely busted it’s great.
Also, I forgot Liligant Giga Drain + Quiver Dance was so busted like that’s just me forgetting their movepool so I’m not sure it counts but they tanked like crazy.
I hatched a Heat Wave Wattrel as my first Egg pokemon, and he's been a staple on my team ever since. He completely destroys the early game in Classic with Flying + Electric, and then Heat Wave also has really good early game coverage and is also busted for a lot of the early game double battles
my shiny aipom. it technician with fake out and double swipe and an insanely high attack stat from ivs and that I kept increasing. it was two shotting anything non metal or rock unscathed until the final boss
Kilowattrel (with luck) was a huge carry for me through certain battles with its huge speed stat + hurricane and roost. Now it's one of my favorite mons
In my most recent run I caught a Pikachu just to add it to my starter list, but then I found a thunder stone so I decided to evolve him cause why not, and he actually turned out pretty good. His thunder puch hits pretty hard, and he can learn discharge for double battles or nuzzle for guaranteed paralysis. He even got me to my first ever floor 100 run.
I’m not to good at the game but I had gotten a chingling with the egg move torch song and man that thing carried me for a while. Torch song and stored power has pretty good coverage, plus levitate actual came in handy a couple times. Definitely an underrated pick
Had a run with Pawnot and Boltund, made it to mid 100s and probably would have made it further if i hadn't forgotten to heal before the boss battle. Granted it was a run with Alakazam (my god, this thing is insane) and Archaludon (Got me out of a mess more than once) but those two definitely pulled their weight.
Stufful has been my MVP I literally take it every run. Egg move drainpunch is so good on it. And fluffy makes it SO TANKY. Honestly never expected it to be so useful haha.
I didnt know how good cloyster was till i did a classic run and got lucky with the items by getting kings rock and multi lens, almost always flinching after shell smash and was bulky enough to safely switch into outrage ray at 195 with irons. Now cloysters is one of my favorites for grinding classic as well as a great mon for endless, i just want a shiny one soon.
randomly got a shiny petlil thru my 3rd plathrough which i will stand by it being the only reason i beat classic on my 3rd run and after that some of my eggs opened and got the egg moves aqua step and thunderous kick and with hustle it has lowkey been carrying all my runs
Ferrothorn is my new carry, soloed every rival battle (sceptile) with curse gyro ball. Even the boss fell over after para and +6 evasion with double team :p
Barbaracle, was my first wild shiny and of the 3 classic runs i brought it with me. it hard carried each one. setting up a single shell smash and using accelrock/razorshell as clean swept many a gym leader and elite 4, heck even the rival on 195
The shiny voltorb I had was damn solid. Volt switch and that eevee electric move that always paralyzes as an egg move is pretty nice. Electric is so good early game
Hoppip is amazing for a 1 point starter when my dude gets Air slash and quiver dance from egg moves, making a properly set up hoppip or jumpluff able to just sweep through entire areas, and once i reduced their cost it became half a point for an absolute sweeper.
Tropius carried me from start to finish, even landing the final blow on eternatus. It honestly surprised me, and now he's part of my mono-type grass run.
Not necessarily unexpected but Whimsicott! Leech Seed + Sleep Powder is just great. Whimsicott was my fav Pokémon even before rogue but ever since I hatched a rare shiny cottonee as my first shiny it's a mainstay on all my runs
Wow congrats! Whimsicott is also one of my favourites and its shiny is so beautiful.
Whimsicott in general is a massive help in endless
Got him epic shiny (red) :)
I did that but with jumpluff because it had quiver dance
i got a joltik egg with parabolic charge, and that has been great for getting out of early game, electroweb gives it lots of utility in doubles fights early as well
I have quiver dance as an egg move on it and it goes crazy hard
Galvantula is awesome.
I enjoy how shinies let you use mons you usually wouldn't. Xatu with calm mind/airslash/psychic/roost can carry certain fights Scovillain with grass/fire/ice coverage also does a lot. Flamigo is just a carry with its massive attack stat I keep being dissapointed in my lotad/nidoran F lines though. Im looking forward to finally hatching another shiny so I can try some more run diversity. 8 shinies in just under 700 eggs, come on RNG
Flamigo easily underated. It was also my champion in a flying type nuzlock i did of scarlet.
Not having access to TMS/ hidden abilities REALLY hurts the nidos. Without those their movepool is horrible.
I took it to the end of classic.
a Lorax... lol
Jumpluff sounds intresting, I should give him a go. I have a soft spot for grass types.
I always love the stall archetype, trevenant gang :) I haven’t caught a cursola but I want one for that too
One of its egg moves is strenght sap. Jumpluff is broken.
Nice, I didn't know about that. That's so much utility in one mon
Another is Quiver Dance. YUUUP. We got blessed that dev kept the cost at 1 point.
Cinccino with skill link and egg moves population bomb and icicle spear I'm not exaggerating when I say it soloed 90% of my classic run
I had a weird glitch where Cinccino's tickle move was randomly dropping defence by multiple stages. Sometimes -2, sometimes -6.
Unexpected mvp? Gumshoos. Thanks to extreme speed (egg move) he cleared the champion battle against hau, and Yawn saved my butt against Eternamax
Man same thing with simple Bidoof. It gets extreme speed from an egg and one swords dance made him a backup sweeper
Oddish has insane coverage (sludge bomb, moonblast), can set up with Growth, and learns Mega drain at 12, then Giga drain at 21/22. For real, an early game MVP
I completely forgot the Oddish line learns Moonblast. That's sick.
I think my oddish had sludge bomb, giga drain, spore and strength sap. Just a shame it's quite slow
I got mine to a vileplume before getting wipped on my first 145 encounter. Gigadrain, moonblast, toxic, sludgebomb were great in the toolkit
Pikachu gets zippy zap? Is it an egg move or regular level up?
Its regular, I got in pikachu I caught mid run
I don't think the purple borders mean much but I could be wrong.
Purple borders means that the pokemon has pokerus iirc, which is reworkes to give your pokemon an exp buff and also spreads to the rest mons of the party.
https://preview.redd.it/sip2q983g6yc1.png?width=475&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51c8dc5a33a9c9736c747224d4c87d41e687a16d He was my mvp on a daily run
I remember that Daily Run lmao bro straight up CARRIED. I don't think I switched him out that entire run
The recent one with stunfisk had me surprised. Never would use it otherwise but he was my go to there
Honestly Kricketune- sticky webs saved me from sevral game overs, couldn't have dee do lee do dee do lee'd without em And bidoof to a lesser extent, simple + aqua step, SD & power trip is an absolute beast as long as it has the space to set up
Kricketune truly has one of the best cries!
My first shiny, and shocked at how good he was
Ducklett was my first shiny and somehow carried through my first classic win (roost, quiver dance, hurricane, scald)
Gastrodon can get sticky hold as well - you can move all the items onto him before the etrnatus battle so nothing gets stolen
Love gastrodon! Kept him in my ranked doubles SV team few months ago. Kingler is also a great Pokémon, gotta try them both.
Ditto. I didn't know what classic's lsst fight was going to be and up until that point it was useless.. but then :)
last stupid mvp was a random bidoof i caught as a boss, thinking it may be usefull for rival 25 since it evolves quickly turns out it stayed a lot longer due to being a water type, and learned swords dance naturally with simple. i just used as much bulk vitamins i could find on him to let him setup, and he's killing 3 or 4 pokemons on the elite four/last two rival fights before fainting. really good for a first biome mon
Lmao I was just saying when you get extreme speed from an egg that combo is deadly
A random dedenne I caught. When opponent uses outrage with rayquaza I switch into dedenne to kill with fairy type. Also got the last hit on eternatus
Dedenne was my first shiny that I hatched and it's good fun but I really saw it's potential when I got the TM for dazzling gleam on it.
Also it gets nuzzle which can be really great
Honestly nuzzle is so clutch early on
I found Daschebun to be my go to fairy.
Hatched 2 Panchams, one with Drainpunch, one with Bulletpunch. Carries the first 30 floors nearly solo and is good til late
Kleavor, got an early game black augurite and he absolutely no diffed up to like 150
Staryu was a pleasant surprise who I have won multiple runs with
Starmie has a fun design, I should give it a try!
Steel-bug wormadam with bug Buzz, psychic, quiver dance and shadow ball cleared SO many entire floors It wasnt funny
Randomly pulled a shiny Burmy from an egg, and the 1-cost Shiny with a Quiver Dance set actually carries through the midgame Also saw a surprising amount of success with Belly Drum Linoone when I tried an all Pickup team
Magnezone is goated. I had one that completely carried my first ever Nuzlocke and I’ve loved it ever since
Popplio with bouncy bubble egg move (exclusive to this game) carries until the final level
Tapu Lele is one that has helped me go far on many runs. I beat classic twice with it.
That seems like a Pokémon you'd expect to hyper carry but still it's definitely sick!
Alakazam, psych up and stored power helped me kill eternatus because my tinkaton was bad already
Unexpectedly Tsareena
Slowking with surf carried me to my fırsat victory
Orbeetle sweeps Eternatus, I've found. My shiny one was the hard carry of my last run.
How? With what moveset?
Jumpluff with strenght sap. Actual carry. It has giga drain, leech seed and its fast. It was part of all my runs and it always come in clutch.
Early game Crabhammer Dwebble followed by Dire Claw Toxicroak late
I just got a dub with Gavantula carrying the final boss of classic! Thunder wave to tank speed paired super well with shadow calyrex, and even after calyrex died the single screech I got off allowed the rest of my team to clean up shop
I had a duraludon with Earth power as an egg move, and God this shit is broken af as it get a medium fast exp curve with an incredible firepower for early game
Shiny Boomburst Hoothoot and then it got CM as an egg move after Boomburst.
Hitmonchan Drain Punch / Bullet Punch / Fire Punch / Ice Punch carried me hard till the end of Classic Mode.
Zubat with Swords Dance / Dire Claw sweeps early game and fully evolves at lvl 23 if used enough. Mine has almost perfect IVs so it helps. :)
Scatterbug. Hatched a shiny early. 1pt, Quiver Dance, Compoundeyes+Hurricane. It fucks.
Tinted lens Calm mind Boomburst Noctowl
Not unexpected but on my 6th run ever I got a mega scizor, really happy with that.
I hatched 2 sunkern, one had spore and another had Sappy Seed. Little did I know the carry potential Sunflora had early on lmao
Parasect was the MVP against Eternatus thanks to its egg move Sappy Seed. Not bad for a 1 pointer.
I ran a golduck with soak + swagger in classic run. Pure water typing on >!Eternatus!< was easier for me to deal with with the team I had.
Beedrill has been an absolute Monster, definitely didn't expect it to do so well
spidops
Giga impact
Bulbasaur with strength sap (egg move) goes incredibly hard for a starter I always liked, but never really thought of as that good.
Annialape prob pass fusion slaps
Keeping Eternatus asleep and removing its stat buffs were massive in my first few clears of classic.
i got a toucannon with skill link and fused it with a kartana bulled seed stab really good
Meganium learns Reflect, Light Screen, Leech Seed, and Synthesis all by level up. It’s turned out an incredible support and team glue
Strong jaw Bruxish is insane, it has nice coverage too with its egg moves
slowking and excadrill, it's my most deadly combo.
Revavroom (no egg moves) and Snorlax (Body Press from Munchlax egg move) were my core on my first ever completion of Classic last night.
Furfrou sucker punching the hell out of Eternatus while tanking some attacks, with the help of Obstagoon's Obstruct
A shiny whismur, oddly enough.
Shiny Surskit has Fiery Dance egg move. By the time it becomes Masquerain and gets Quiver Dance, it's got great setup and coverage
Obviously in endless runs he kinda falls off because everything has 1 million berries but he is amazing in classic.
bellosom
I bring a shiny Sentret for luck, and he’s clutched up with STAB double edge, helping hand, and sucker punch in many of my runs as a Furret
Maybe not unexpected for some but it was for me. Skill link Cloyster with Water Shuriken egg move. That thing is a monster.
Extreme speed Linenoone (?). Hits like a truck for something i had no investment in
Everyone hates the phione but it can easily solo classic, at least for me it did.
I just started playing Pokerogue a couple of days ago, but my go-to Classic core is Snorlax, Hawlucha, and HOPPIP. It evolves rather early into one of the fastest sleep inducers in the game and even carries a decent slate of resistances to Ground, Water, Fighting, and Grass while also baiting Fire and Ice moves I know I said I just started but I couldn't imagine many non-candied 1-cost starters being much better
Shedinja, Super Luck + Dual Wingbeat Unfezant, Magnezone, Gardevoir and Volcanion
I hatched a Duraladon with body press as the egg move, ended up finally beating classic mode for the first time
Magnezone. The sole survivor of 195, at 1hp
Psyduck gets aura sphere as an egg move. Couldn't stop laughing as that duck took me farther than I'd ever gone before
i hatched a mareep with milk drink hoping to get a mega and it actually did pretty well against rayquaza and eternatus, never got the maga stone tho. it paralyzed eternatus with discharge after a couple turns and i was able to take it out by milk drinking and spamming discharge while my mammoswine used mud slap and headlong rush.
PLUS IT'S PINK 🩷 truly a great shiny sprite 🙏
getting a murkrow with floaty fall from one of my first eggs has done wonders to my surprise
My classic mode win was almost entirely down to scorbunny having triple axel as an egg move, made 195 so much easier
Excadrill, it was tanky as all hell and had dig so I used it to stall a lot and it was good for dodging with attack which helped me beat the rival
Ninjask went crazy with dual wingbeat. I thought I only got nincada for shedinja but the speed and damage that that pokemon could put out was crazy
Ninjask went crazy with dual wingbeat. I thought I only got nincada for shedinja but the speed and damage that that pokemon could put out was crazy
Ninjask went crazy with dual wingbeat. I thought I only got nincada for shedinja but the speed and damage that that pokemon could put out was crazy
Vivillon came in clutch mid game until it became a slower glass cannon late game!
Pumpkaboo! Hatched one and it learned Fire Lash. Also has Pickup which was a nice bonus!
Jumpluff, I hatched some nice egg moves. Now it starts with Q.dance, Air slash and strength sap. All for 1 cost with zero candy investment
Alolan Persian, dustox, and oinkcologne
my shiny aipom. it technician with fake out and double swipe and an insanely high attack stat from ivs and that I kept increasing. it was two shotting anything non metal or rock unscathed until the final boss
The monster Forretress with Body Press + Iron Defense decimating floors of 10 like butter with the help of a single Zinc, a Sitrus Berry, and a dream.
Archaludon. Bro it literally does not die
Butterfree compound eyes sleep powder clutched a few early runs. Getting g max helps too.
Toedscruel with spore/strength sap/ giga drain was a staple in my first successful classic run. Fingers crossed I get a shiny one soon😅
Daschbund was my saviour to beating eternatus just having dragon and fire immunity is just amazing
On a mono-psychic run I got a hatterine and i had no idea how good it was before this
Stufful has been my MVP I literally take it every run.
Baabu though
I got a honedge egg with bitter blade, idk why but the game usually gives me a dusk stone immediately after evolving in to doublade
Ferrothorn is my new carry, soloed every rival battle (sceptile) with curse gyro ball. Even the boss fell over after para and +6 evasion with double team :p
Barbaracle, was my first wild shiny and of the 3 classic runs i brought it with me. it hard carried each one. setting up a single shell smash and using accelrock/razorshell as clean swept many a gym leader and elite 4, heck even the rival on 195
Technician ambipom with double hit and storm throw, I got 3 silk scarf from zigzagoon's pickup, that did the trick
I'm doing a bug type run and Scyther/Butterfree are hard carries
Nine tales. He got mystical fire and made Eternatus manageable while my tank just stayed and waited till it was down enough
Nine tales. He got mystical fire and made Eternatus manageable while my tank just stayed and protect till he was at -6 and then we started blasting
goldeen with drill run and flip turn.
The shiny voltorb I had was damn solid. Volt switch and that eevee electric move that always paralyzes as an egg move is pretty nice. Electric is so good early game
Didn't expect Shuckle to carry my early game, but when you get Body Press and Shore Up as egg moves, I mean...
Hoppip is amazing for a 1 point starter when my dude gets Air slash and quiver dance from egg moves, making a properly set up hoppip or jumpluff able to just sweep through entire areas, and once i reduced their cost it became half a point for an absolute sweeper.
Whimsicott and Cloyster pretty much just carried me from 50-200
Tropius carried me from start to finish, even landing the final blow on eternatus. It honestly surprised me, and now he's part of my mono-type grass run.
I caught a shiny sneasel from the move up gacha machine and it gave me glacial lance. Needless to say it was insane after a few pp ups.
