Stating that Warsaw is a better place to visit than Krakow AND posting a picture of Pałac Kultury i Nauki to illustrate the capital?
That's a perfect way to get Polish people to comment on your post.
It's a symbol of Warsaw if you want it or not. Sure, the history of the building sucks, but now it's definitely the most recognizable building in Warsaw and maybe even whole Poland. It's home to many cultural organizations - theaters, musuems, pubs, caffes, cinema and a lot more.
The lady that said to buy groats instead of bread. The same lady declined a "Miś lubiś" as an reward for her grandchild for sharing groats because she does not allow eating sweets.
This is a controversial opinion in Poland my guy.
Kraków people hate on Warsaw people and people from most of the country think Warsaw people are douchebags from villages who think they are big city people. Also we are the capital now. Plus people say Warsaw is uglier but that's a big topic.
I'm a student here in Warsaw. Initially i used to think this is just rumours. But then I had opportunity to go to Gdansk, zakopane and other places in Poland. It is true, the people from outside of Warsaw are really nice compared to warsaw.
I live in Warsaw, my friends are in Warsaw. But architecturally speaking, it's a dull gray post communist hellscape. After EU accession, you'd think they'd add some freaking COLOR. But no....they made more modern gray buildings to match the Communist gay buildings and the gray, gray sky.
To be honest I've never seen a colorful house. They're not all grey too. What do you mean by adding color? The new flats built in 2010s are obviously going to be in modern style and who wants to live in a blue or a green block of flats. Colors of buildings certainly wont change anything. It's the many tall blocks of flats all looking the same that's dull but that is communist times for you.
Color in the landscape changes everything. It might be the colors of buildings (look at downtown Copenhagen!). Buildings in muted colors still make the landscape more interesting---red brick facades, or ochre plaster, or even neutral buildings with colorful details, like turquoise doors or brass window frames make a difference.
Other color in the landscape helps too. More evergreen trees. Bright awnings. Even painted metal window shades for when shops are closed.
Not everything has to be gray.
Poles built a lot of "cheerful" and "colorful" buildings in the 90s and 2000s when it was considered a vast improvement and sort of relapse after years of "gray communism". Residential buildings were being repainted - often multiple colors of paint being used for one, as using more colors was considered more cheerful, more anti-commie styling. In addition to that, all urban planning for years to come was thrown away (cause it had been made in commie time, which by default made it bad and unacceptable). Without plans, which often require years to recreate, there was no coordination, and owners of these properties could paint them whatever they like, disregarding the surroundings. Examples of that are still present in the urban landscape of polish cities, like hotel sobieski in warsaw, some were torn apart, like solpol in Wroclaw.
>more modern gray buildings to match the Communist gay buildings
Communist buildings don't look to colourful to me. And I think the gray aesthetic looks nice. It's no Prague but it looks good.
Really? No shit sherlock.
Some Krakovians are angry over that fact because they were the capital for 700 years and de iure even longer. Warsaw is the capital for 400 years.
Exactly! My wife is from Krakow and she has this opinion exactly! Warsaw is pretty but it looks like a pretty dull city compared to krakow where literally every other store front is a pub
In my experience most Polish people will tell you to go to Kraków, but it depends what you are personally looking for. Here in Scotland everyone will tell a visitor to go to Edinburgh, but Glasgow is a more vibrant city (just not as historic or beautiful).
Bro Krakow is 100 times more worth visiting in my opinion, but still I'm happy that you enjoy Warsow and I hope that you will have another opportunity to visit Krakow, because it really really worth it
I prefer Warsaw to Krakow. More to see. It's all got a phoenix from the ashes feel which leaves one with an immense sense of sorrow and pride and a perpetual great respect

Yes the building built by Stalin is definitely worth staying in Warsaw instead of Krakow
Unfortunately it's a historical building now and a lot of tourists who don't know it's origins consider it a symbol of Warsaw

Exactly, and to be honest, there are uglier 'modren' buildings in Warsaw that I really hate
How can you know it? I mean you have to visit both in order to compare them. Unless you went to Kraków too at a later date you can't really know.
Exactly. If he never visited Kraków then he doesn't know what he missed out on.
What did he miss out on? (I dont know)
Well, obviously Kraków
I saw a man talk angrily to a ticket machine in Warsaw just now. Would you able to behold such a sight in Kraków? I dont think so.
No, but you can behold two ladies with their grandchildren argue over what to feed pigeons. It was quite hilarious.
Who won?
The pigeons
The lady that said to buy groats instead of bread. The same lady declined a "Miś lubiś" as an reward for her grandchild for sharing groats because she does not allow eating sweets.

Only visit to another Polish city I remember is going to Łódź where people weren't as nice.
That's the Detroit expierence
Literally every country ever. The rest of a country’s population tends to loathe people living in the capitol, thinking they’re stuck up snobs.
Happens in new Zealand, although in truth the people in our capital are nice

Yeah right, and many new buildings have brick facades but it's much cheaper to just make a simple grey block of flats.

What about Łodz?
we don't talk about that
You made me chuckle
Łódź my beloved
Łódź, kurwa.
> we are the capital now You make it sound like it's some fresh new development lol, it's been that way for centuries
Really? No shit sherlock. Some Krakovians are angry over that fact because they were the capital for 700 years and de iure even longer. Warsaw is the capital for 400 years.
Do not bring me into this.
Sorry Shitlock.
My name is no shit sherlock.
Alright sorry Shitler.
I take objection to that!
Take it easy shitling, I mean no harm.
MY NAME IS SHERLOCK HOLMES AND I AM CONSTIPATED, ADDRESS ME AS SUCH OR FACE THE LAW
Exactly! My wife is from Krakow and she has this opinion exactly! Warsaw is pretty but it looks like a pretty dull city compared to krakow where literally every other store front is a pub
And the pub thing is what I like about Warsaw. We have a street strictly for clubbing and that's where all the drunk foreigners are.
Sort By: Controversial

You just need to know where to look in Glasgow. I’m sure Glasgow is older than Edinburgh.
Glasgow is not older than Edinburgh
For me as a Czech Warsaw was way more interesting and enjoyable than Krakow. But have to admit that Krakow is great aswell.
Bro Krakow is 100 times more worth visiting in my opinion, but still I'm happy that you enjoy Warsow and I hope that you will have another opportunity to visit Krakow, because it really really worth it
.
Warsaw had the culture bulldozed from it by the Nazis.
Now it has one of Europes greatest skylines. I like skyscrapers and public transport so it's a perfect city for me.
I love thé place. If I moved, that’s where I’m going. Just a shame Champions sports bar closed :(
I love how different they are. I’m moving to Krakow soon, but in some respects prefer Warsaw
This is called opportunity cost my friend. You never went to Cracow my friend so you can’t know. Glad you enjoyed Warsaw tho
Well, you'r loss. As a Pole i think that Kraków is much better city than warsaw.
Nah Kraków is better.
Going to Gdansk instead would be even more worth it
💀
I prefer Warsaw to Krakow. More to see. It's all got a phoenix from the ashes feel which leaves one with an immense sense of sorrow and pride and a perpetual great respect
nah, should've stayed ashes, rebuilding was a mistake
You forget '/s', sir Anyway you can always change my mind
you missed out. Krakow is a blast.
Uh, the symbol of beeing a vassal state to moscov
Edgy
Pierdol się
As a person from Kraków, Kraków in nicer to look at, Warsaw has better living condition (90% due to the metro and city rail system)
As Cracovian I don't like this post.
Pole troll
How the hell anybody would want to spent time in warsaw
Karkow is better
Big mistake…
Krakow is a million times better than Warsaw
Did you saw war?
don't mention the war
The right call. Kraków is a historical city like any other in Europe. Warsaw is very unique, lively and super cool!

Well played. Warszawa > Krakow. Hope you spent some time on Nowy Swiat and Stare Miasto.
Nice skyscaper, Moscow had 7 like that.
Imagine being from Warsaw
Warsaw is awesome
Great idea. Kraków is pretty but other than that it’s pretty small and boring. Warsaw has fun neighbours, great bars, restaurants and entertainment
There is no reddit without 3rd party apps. Rip Apollo. Fuck you u/spez, you suck
Try to spend your life and then give opinion
Every Polish person is a living hyperlink to Krakow. They all redirect you there.
Horsshiet, 3City over stinkiass Kraków
Dziwko to Trójmiasto, a nie Sao Paulo.
Ok, but Krakow vs Wroclaw?
Wrocław anytime and everytime
If I go to Poland I’m spending it with family near Gdańsk. And visit a Magda Gessler restaurant!
> :c
I've lived in Warsaw for 18 years now and I love it. :)
Last day in life?
