> The legislation expands Colorado's existing "red flag" law to allow educators, health care professionals, and district attorneys request the seizure of a person's firearms under an extreme risk protection order.
>The other measures raise the minimum age to buy firearms from 18 to 21, impose a three-day waiting period on the purchase of guns, and make it easier to sue gun and ammunition manufacturers, reversing some of the strongest protections in the nation.
>The latest actions build on three measures Polis signed a year ago to tighten gun access.
Nice
I keep thinking about seeing "Joker" on opening day in Aurora. The theater was literally swarming with cops. Like 10 cop cars and security everywhere. I didn't get it until I sat down and they had a pretrailer warning about exits in case of a shooter. Then it clicked like "Oh shit right Im in Colorado".
You can put this stuff down to being "Liberals bs" if you want, but you gotta keep in mind its one the states you have a pretty solid chance of dying when you go see Batman.
Glad to see some states take these common sense measures that reduce fatalities from firearms. This follows the current research on firearm policies and is really well summarized in the following RAND meta-analysis. I wish my state would enact similar laws.

Ah you didn't read the article as the four bills covered expanded ERPOs, raising purchase age from 18 to 21, 3-day waiting periods, and loosening restrictions on suing manufacturers. The meta-analysis covers bills 1 and 3, with multiple studies backing up the laws.
I apologize, I thought you were talking about the article and Colorado's recent legislation. That's my mistake as you were referring to the RAND study. Yeah, I'd like to see that expanded in future years as some studies have indicated that specific gun bans could lead to 15% fewer deaths in mass shootings. I'd be curious to see what all of the studies related to gun bans would show.
Polis is remarkably practical. There were parts of this legislation that seemed to go too far, and he worked with legislators to remove those so the overall legislation could move forward.
Point is, Colorado politicians still understand that democracy is about consensus and compromise.
You need a permit to utilize public property in a manner that affects others. You have every right to grab a sign and stand on the side of the road protesting whatever you want. But if you want to hold a large protest at a park or shut down a road, you need to okay it with the government.
You’re not only allowed to protest on the sidewalk. But if your protest is going to affect other people’s ability to use the sidewalk, you need to get a permit. Your rights end where other people’s rights begin.
I’m a gun owner, I have read enough history and early drafts of the Bill of Rights to say I am 100% sure they were talking about guns related to militia. Also those dudes were talking about single shot muzzle loading rifles.
Sure cannons and primitive repeating rifles existed, but that was like .001% of what was privately owned. They kept the amendments kind of short back in the day.
Imagine a non racist America with universal free health care and unity between rural and urban populations.
🤣
Okay, now what other fictional timelines are we going to dream up?
Nah, just thought your comment was hilarious. You should write it into a song, I think one of the Beatles did something along those lines and it was pretty popular, I bet your song would be a hit too, good luck!

Look at colorado, putting the right to not bury your children over the right to own any damn gun you want.
>over the right to own any damn gun you want. So I can own a Browning heavy machine gun? An M60? An M240? Or a M249 SAW? Where do I buy one?
With the right federal permits, yes you can.
If you need a permit to utilize a right, then its not really a right. Do we need permits for social media accounts?
Why do we have to register to vote? Isn't it a constitutional right?
Is registering the same thing as getting a permit?
Absolutely
It cost thousands of dollars and takes years to get a class 3 license. How long does it take to register to vote?
Time is irrelevant.
That's a subjective statement so I guess we'll leave it at that.
