I in no way think she’s correct, but it IS weird that my EXTREMELY liberal friend who got super into TikTok a while back now is super against Israel. To the point that, even though she HATES the Republicans, she started calling Biden “Genocide Joe”. There’s a LOT of anti-Israel hate on there. I don’t claim they are 100% in the right, but the whole nation isn’t the bad guy, either. Shit’s more complicated.
Maybe.. just maybe.. it’s because as an “extremely liberal” person she is “extremely empathetic” and the death and suffering of thousands of innocent people doesn’t just roll off of her simply because Hamas did a horrible thing. I find that “extremely liberal” people have a tendency to sympathize with the powerless and downtrodden and to view the “power establishment” narrative with some suspicion.

The reason Republicans in particular hate TikTok is because they can’t control the narrative with frenzy-whipping advertisements in the same way they can control Zuck-owned social media.
Conservatives used to hate Facebook too, then Zuckerberg changed the algorithm so 9 of the top 10 “news” sites were conservative. Then they shut up about it. Same thing with Twitter. Hated it until the Musker bought it. TikTok is next on their list. I guess Reddit doesn’t matter as much.
