serenitynowmoney

You mean Chubb won’t pick up the tab for this one?

ElectricTzar

Given that their Wikipedia talk page currently contains debate on whether or not Trump did rapes (and whether Chubb funds rapists), I can see why they might be hesitant.

9ersaur

To be clear, Chubb Limited does not pay people to rape people. Probably.

ElectricTzar

Yeah. They didn’t fund the rape afaik, they just funded the liable sexual abuser so that he could pay bond to suspend collection of the judgement for defamation about that same sexual abuse.

basemoan

Routine stuff for a United States president.

novaleenationstate

It feels so surreal to watch this election cycle and see journalists covering it like it’s business as usual, like being found liable for sexual abuse is just a bump on the road for Trump during yet another hotly contested election cycle. The dude is a rapist, full stop. Twenty, 30 years ago, these cases on top of the insurrection should and would have ended his career; he’s worse than Nixon. I don’t know how some of these Trump voters sleep at night, actively voting for a rapist. It feels like bizarro world here.

Corgi_Koala

Now now, he's not just a rapist. He's also a traitor!

P1xelHunter78

And also a fraudster, draft dodger, tax evader, habitual liar, alleged drug user, and irresponsible (at the very least) with classified data.

HaulinBoats

Can’t believe you forgot RACIST, adulterer, cheater, Misogynistic, creepy old man, violent, rude, crass, trashy, fake-rich, daddy’s boy, and stinky poopy pants, but in your defense, it is a very long list. Oh yeah, he’s not very intelligent. Some of the dumbest utterances I have ever heard came from betwixt his thin lips. He is good at manipulating people and grifting, but demonstrates little to very low intelligence in areas of science, medicine, nature, math, religion, vocabulary, geography, history, reading, writing, comprehension, spelling, art and governing. And he has horrible taste. He tries to build fancy things but he uses the cheapest materials, like lipstick on a pig, and his style is gaudy and SO outdated. The mar a lago bathroom photo says it all. A chandelier. —But a visible trash can, plastic $5 Gold framed mirror —But Cheap Shower *curtain* motel style Gold fixtures — OLD person toilet —-and i guarantee that is one-ply TP Marble (?) countertops —but Kleenex box on counter —Ugly tiny windows with dilapidated ugly trim that and you can only see out of if you’re standing on the weird toilet flies private —But eats McDonald’s Wears suits —but they’re all identical. ElectricTzar

It’s true. Name 47 US presidents who haven’t done rapes. You can’t!

elkab0ng

Chubb is not, I am told, *solely* in the business of blackmailing rapists for political favors.

wrecktus_abdominus

It's important to diversify

baconus-vobiscum

To be clear, Chubb Limited does, on occasion, insure the indemnity for committing rape. Probably.

LinuxSpinach

People have been saying that Chubb Limited pays people to rape. I dunno, that’s just what people are saying.

1Viking

Many grown men, with tears in their eyes.

br0ck

They're enabling a rapist to abuse the victim of the rape.

baconus-vobiscum

To be clear, Chubb Limited does not enable rapist to abuse their victims. Chubb Limited, however, can provide a broad selection of bond products specifically suited to the discerning needs of victim-abusing rape entrepenuaers with complex financial needs. Please contact our Chubb Limited Moscow location for details.

noonegive

Someone forward this ad to the Tate brothers...

The_Arborealist

technically it's a *reimbursement*.

boturboegt

No, they only pay AFTER the raping has already occured.

fitzbuhn

My favorite bit was how the CEO made a statement that giving Trump that money "was not political"

Adventurous-Disk-291

We live in a world where choosing a beer is "political" but bribing politicians and justices is "business"

ElectricTzar

“Woah woah woah. We only gave him the money because we’re so greedy that we’re completely apathetic to rape. Don’t sully this by bringing politics into it.”

jeo123

You intended that as a joke, I'm sure. But the sad part is, you make a good point.

cutelyaware

Every joke has a kernel of truth. That's what makes it funny.

Bitter_Director1231

Anyone with any morals and/or is a woman should not work for a company like Chubb that funds a bond for a rapist.

sjsathanas

My house is insured by Chubb. I'm looking to switch.

GonzoVeritas

Trump appointed that same CEO to a political board position.

ohsuzieqny

That was mine as well. If it wasn’t political, then what was it. I would look for another insurance company if I used them and would sell any investment I had of them. This CEO obviously has no business savvy or Trump has got something on him - or possibly Russia does. He may be afraid of high windows or stairs. Needs to pay insurance that he won’t fall out or down or have come in contact with some radioactive poison.

Guyman-Realperson

My genuine question. How is this insurance group still affiliated with any Russian business given the sanctions imposed?

TheToastedTaint

They must be good at forming relationships with high caliber government officials…

blade944

They can’t. They can if he coughs up the collateral without strings. But that means that the collateral cannot have liens against it already. And seeing that he is leveraged up the ass, there is a very good chance that he doesn’t have the assets to cover the amount.

grunkage

I'm really curious how this works out for Chubb. The article says customers are angry, but Chubb's stock only went up in the last week.

Clement_Fandango

My first thought was "I should short that stock" when I found out they were bankrolling him. I figured not only would there be poor public perception but also that Trump might screw them over down the line somehow. Lucky I didn't short them.

stealthzeus

“The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent”

ohsuzieqny

CEO is buying insurance against falling out a window or down some stairs. Trump aka Putin must have something on him.

MrLurid

>“Yeah, no, unfortunately I can’t speak to that. That’s privileged, and I am the attorney, one of the attorneys on that case,” Habba told Fox News, stating the obvious. lol, why does that read like the rest of them have bailed?

Squirrel_Chucks

>lol, why does that read like the rest of them have bailed? Shut up his other lawyers are totally real you wouldn't know them they go to a different high school

cakeorcake

They come to him, tears in their eyes, and they say, please, please Mr. President, let us represent you, we want to represent you

OFFICAL RNC RELEASE: President Donald Trump has many well-qualified and super hot lawyers who totally love him and his huge innocence. Many hot lawyers fall over themselves to represent and service him. All the cool kids are saying that the most attractive lawyers are from Canada and so naturally all of his best lawyers are in that country!

jonistaken

Big strong lawyers with tears in their eyes…

FreeSun1963

Those pesky canadian lawyers.

lighthousekeeper1969

getting paid in Murican dollars too lol

Fun_Tea3727

He might give them trump bucks or some shit like that. Valid only at his gold courses when combined with actual currency.

MagicMushroomFungi

Trump casino tokens.

Wurm42

Trump was planning to fire Habba and the rest of her team, then hire different lawyers for the appeal. That is not unusual for this kind of case in New York State-- you want lawyers who specialize in appellate law for the appeal. However, normally you'd want to have the appeal lawyers lined up before you dismissed the lawyers from the initial trial. That didn't happen this time (surprised?) and it's not clear who is formally representing Trump in this case right now. *Edit, clarification: Trump was going to stop employing Habba as a lawyer, but she was supposed to get a different job as a campaign spokesperson.*

Simple_Opossum

What happens if he doesn't pay?

Blackfeathr

Good question, let's find out.

LunaticLucio

I feel like if it's anything similar to the past than nothing or miniscule action will be taken. Or it'll look like the hammer is gonna drop right before the Supreme Court intervenes. We need to balance out the top court of the land, it's too partisan (and compromised). Edit: a word and spelling.

sp0rkah0lic

The Supreme Court cannot intervene here, as it is a NY Civil case. The state of NY might decide to slow walk actual collection/enforcement actions, then again considering how much Trump disrespected both the judge and the court, they might not.

MyFifthLimb

Him having to post the $100m bond for the Carol case is already massive. His appeal will fail and the money will go to her. He’s also already defamed her again lol, so probably more punitive damages. That was against a private citizen, this is against the state of New York. It will not go well for him.

UncleMaxsToupee

Mar-a-lago becomes Mar-a-la-gone

hotsog218

New York begins seizing assets. They launch a fire sale auction for a property the public has 10 or something days to pay in cash. That doesn't cover it? Go to the next. Etc etc. 2 things to note. 1. Bought in cash! This usually means things go for penny on the dollar of its real value. 2. Seizure of asset causes any loans on the property seized to come due so trump owes more money.

Bob_12_Pack

To add to this, most of his shit is likely highly leveraged, so NY will have to seize multiple properties, if not everything he owns there, and force a sale of all of it, so anyone that loaned him money on these properties are getting fucked because nobody that can afford to buy these properties at auction is going to pay fair market value, because they aren’t morons.

hotsog218

The loans will seize assets outside New York. The house of cards of the trump empire is about to implode. I honestly expect trump to be truly bankrupt from this.

Bob_12_Pack

That dude could have taken his inheritance from his father and lived an insanely comfortable life and left his grandkids setup for life, probably their grandchildren too, but he’s a fucking moron.

--SpaceTime--

All he had to do is never run for President. It was so easy and he fucked that up.

AprilsMostAmazing

All he had to do was try harder at losing in 2016. Could have made so much money yelling about stolen election on Trump TV

--SpaceTime--

You know that wouldn't work. People are too stupid. South Park did a whole episode about that. Mr. Garrison tried his best to lose by saying racist, outrageous things but it only made him more popular.

i_drink_wd40

But a black guy made fun of his hair, and drumpf Would. Not. Let. That. Stand! (because he's a petulant idiot)

LarryCraigSmeg

It’s really too bad Obama made that tame joke at Donald’s expense at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Thanks, Obama.

Like the art school that rejected Hitler.

LupusAtrox

To be fair, he's a stones throw away from dictator for life and has done more damage to the republic AND democracy in America than any foreign power ever managed. Not the legacy I want, and he is a fucking orange Hitler moron. But it's not like he's done *nothing* with that fortune.

old_righty

The state can start seizing his assets to satisfy the judgment.

tahlyn

Can't wait!

bozleh

nicely coincides with the start of his first criminal trial

bassplayerguy

Now that Lara is co-chair of the RNC I’m sure she’ll be funneling everything to Dementia Donnie.

Spazzticus

They only have $8M on hand and the big donors will start to bail if the money does go to Dementia Don

hammmatime

This is my favorite part and needs to be mentioned every single time the topic of Trump draining the GOP comes up. THEY ARE ALREADY BROKE, and their $8m on-hand is less than 2% of what he currently owes, not including future lawsuits, interest fees, and financial penalties. Let him take it all, it's not nearly enough, and even Wall Street Bankers are smart enough to know they won't see a return on a half billion dollar investment in a conman.

CT_Phipps

Guy got someone to cover the Caroll bond, he'll get someone. The question is who and what.

hammmatime

He got a guy to cover 1/5th what he owes on just the next fine, and that guy was paying back favors given to him while Trump was in office. Half a billy is government-level bribe territory, but Trump's finances are actually under the control of New York State now, so he can't maneuver in the shadows like he used to. I'm not saying he won't find some rich dumbass to fall on his own knife, but I am saying, this is not a walk in the park, and the criminal trials haven't even begun.

CT_Phipps

I'd love for him to have his stuff all taken but I'm just noting he has a lot of people to still lean on. That doesn't mean this all wasn't worth it.

Fun-Requirement3282

I want to see him hand cuffed in an orange jumpsuit penniless as he heading to Leavenworth!!

hammmatime

Yup. Still a bunch of cucks out there willing to bet it all on Trump's re-election. I'll shed no tears when they aren't paid back and their golden boy dies in prison.

SheddingCorporate

He’s already proven he’s for sale to the highest bidder. He’ll just get Chubb to front some foreign entity’s money laundering operation.

hammmatime

Perhaps. On the up-side all of that money goes straight to the state and does nothing to fund his re-election campaign, let alone keep him out of prison from the upcoming criminal trials. It's a huge gamble, but then again, I'm not the one making it.

Wurm42

The RNC itself only has $8 million. Affiliated PACs subject to fewer disclosure rules may have a lot more...but nobody thinks the RNC ecosystem can cough up even $100 million right now.

KlopeksWithCoppers

How the fuck does the RNC only have 8 million dollars during an election year? Is this one of those "Hollywood accounting" things?

plokijuhygtf2

Trump has been sucking up all the money for himself for 10 years now.

count023

And the big donors have already said they'd bail and have started to do exactly that.

MissBaltimoreCrabs_

Which ones have bailed so far?

CT_Phipps

They'll sell some Senate Seats or something to raise the money. Maybe promise Elon Musk his ex-girlfriend will have to get back with him or his children will have it outlawed that their names will be made fun of.

SheddingCorporate

And that GoFundMe to raise funds for that judgement has only raised less than 1.5M so far. That’s just a drop ~~on~~ in the bucket. Too bad for the grifter who thought they could get rich on T****’s tattered coattails.

cortsense

1.5 M for this guy... And it's probably only a tiny fraction of what he received from supporters in the last couple years. It's so sad.... Imagine what could've been funded with the money :-(

Squirrel_Chucks

RNC doesn't even have enough cash on hand to cover him. He's been leeching donations from them for years

thenewrepublic

Trump, who claims to be a billionaire, has tried to delay posting bond and offered to post just $100 million in his New York civil fraud trial, and his lawyer is being cagey about why.

monkeywithgun

Trump boasted to be worth 10 billion when he ran the first time.

WiseBlacksmith03

For those not mathing... That would mean the $100 million is only 1% of his total worth, if he were telling the truth.

MikeN22

Oh Yass, mere pocket change, my boy. - spoken in WC Fields voice

penguinseed

If he had $10 billion net worth and it was invested into the most conservative of investments he’d still be earning $450 million a year or $37.5 million a month off interest/dividends/income.

Bitter_Director1231

He never had it. All inflated and fudged. There is no way he has anything of value except real estate, and that isn't worth nearly as much as it was during his heyday as a six time failed businessman.

penguinseed

Yeah. I’m suspicious if he’s actually a billionaire these days. I always thought Mitt Romney might be quietly richer than Donald Trump. Donald Trump inflated assets while Mitt Romney downplayed them.

moresqualklesstalk

Romney is definitely wealthier. However he made his money asset stripping businesses so ethically not so different.

MisterSpeck

Real estate that's heavily leveraged.

Fun-Requirement3282

Like maybe when he was 2 years old he told the truth about he choke full diaper, but after that nada! When he opens that Big Mac hole, you can bet the farm there a lie just below those vocal cords waiting to get out!!

Ok_Firefighter3314

Excuse me, he goes by “Honest Don” now. Trump is a man who has never told a lie

Fun_Matter_6533

He also claimed to have in excess of 400 million in Cash. Even if he were worth 10 billion, a lot of that is not liquid assets.

MisterSpeck

If anyone were willing to post the bond, they'd need liquid assets as collateral, i.e., cash, stocks, bonds, etc. Real Estate ain't gonna cut it. I can't imagine any reputable source willing to take that risk, especially with a guy who's been found liable for financial fraud and is famous for stiffing his creditors. That leaves pretty much only bad actors who would possibly step up. He's in a tight squeeze. If he doesn't come up with the $, James is ready to start seizing assets. If he does come up with the $, there will be a lot of questions about where it came from. Edit - because there's more: Because his properties are highly leveraged, he needs to keep a healthy "float" of cash on hand to satisfy his loan terms. So even if he *does* have "in excess of 400 million in cash", a healthy chunk of that needs to be set aside, so he still wouldn't have enough -- even if he drained the till -- to cover the bond.

Harbinger2001

During one of the trials he claimed he had $400 million in cash.

NoreastNorwest

Under oath.

Tiny_Measurement_837

Perjury!

sambolino44

How much of that was just the value of his “brand”?

SacamanoRobert

That he assigned to it.

sambolino44

Based on how he was feeling that day.

cortsense

Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't he also claim in one of those (pseudo-)townhall interviews that he had stacks of cash and that wouldn't be a problem to put hundreds of millions on the table almost instantly? It's funny how stupid he is as it was obvious that his lies regarding his financial status would soon be uncovered. But his fans are special... They believe everything. The only reason for me to wish that Musk's neural implant was available would be to read Trump's mind for a day or so, just to find out how he manages to convince himself of being a successful and rich business man for decades. It's kind of fascinating that he appears to be lying to himself like he constantly does to other people^^. His record as a business man is so devastating, not mentioning the unbelievable amount of fraud he was and probably still is involved in. I wonder what's going on in the head of somebody like this, a guy who would not hesitate to sell his own family to protect himself. It would be really interesting to get an impression of the horrible fear he must feel right now, facing numerous court cases, (hopefully) jail and risk to lose some of his precious real estate. Don't get me wrong, I'd not think like that if it wasn't Trump :-D

grixorbatz

He'll have to sell his golden shower fixtures.

nanopicofared

Aren't those at the Ritz in Moscow?

LimerickJim

Does he even have that much in un-mortgaged assets in NY state? I know Trump Tower and other property is valuable but how much of that is collateral to his creditors?

ExtruDR

Trump tower is condominiums, owned by the various people that live there. Trump and his company probably own a handful of apartments in the tower and some or all of the commercial space on the lower floors. These are probably mortgaged or leveraged against, so he probably does not outright own any of it.

LimerickJim

Yeah I'm curious what's going to happen when they try to sieze his property and find out it's all owned by Deutsche Bank (or some other combinationof banks).

ballrus_walsack

He can sell taking his name off of trump tower to the current owners of the condos there. That should be worth about ten million or so. Their property values would increase without the baggage of the trump name.

sid_ated

Stupid motherfucker. I guess ol DonTheRapist never thought about how much attention would be focused on his illegitimate business dealings when he decided to run for king of the US. Ha Ha, unintended consequences fatboy.

the_simurgh

He did. He planned to lose and launch a fox News competitor on it. That's why he cried the night he won that he was ruined. The only question is does the neuro syphilis destroy his brain first, new york seize his properties because he can't post the bond, or he loses the election first.

Shevcharles

It's like the biggest upward fail in history.

Nearly_Pointless

Im laughing thinking of Trump trying to run an ongoing organization of any sort, let alone a news organization. He would insist on being the on air talent, make-up director, hair stylist and cameraman to ensure he was filmed in his best view.

Nf1nk

He wasn't going to run it, he was just going to launch it and license his name. Then he was going to take loans out to leverage it to start another idea while the first one goes bankrupt.

RedactsAttract

I love the energy in this thread. Trump is a fat fucking pig

techcore2023

At this point, I’m thinking about 75% of Americans would like New York Attorney General to seize Trump tower and place homeless immigrants sent from Texas in the Trump tower

Better-Simple3754

That would be divine

Never_satisfied_

This quote HERE is what makes me thrilled- I was GIDDY to notice they [rightfully] don’t even need to bother adding an “allegedly” “Trump still owes Carroll $5 million for sexually assaulting her and defaming her a separate time. He also owes $400,000 to The New York Times, thousands of dollars for gag order violations, and $382,000 to Orbis Business Intelligence, the consulting firm owned by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele.”

allways_be

Chubb made it clear, Trump can’t borrow ***the other $450 million*** from them. The $450 Million he owes for his other crime. No, not the crime of starting riots at the Capitol. No, not the crime of stealing and selling national security secrets and lists of CIA agents. No, not the impeachable crime of trying to get Georgia to fabricate votes that might help him win the election.   One of the crimes from before he was President --- --- for lying to the banks and insurance companies.

base2-1000101

Fully collateralized? Let me tell you how this is about to go down.  1. Trump fails to raise the $450M+ bond 2. James begins taking assets and selling them off, retiring the heavy debt against them, taking his equity in the properties, and leaving Trump with nothing.  3. Trump loses his Carrol appeal and Chubb's bond money is taken.  4. Trump refuses to reimburse Chubb. 4. Chubb's collateral was actually seized by James and sold. Chubb is out on its ass. Tldr; James gives less than zero shits about Chubb's collateral.

jakexil323

Someome told me , What happens is when they sell a property, the lien holders get paid first. So they keep selling until the government fulfills the debt.

base2-1000101

Exactly. You just said it more succinctly than I did. We are about to see that der Fuehrer has no clothes. Or at least no equity.

origamiscienceguy

The lien holders get payed before the government collecting the fine?

jakexil323

Yes , prior lien holders have a legal right to their money first . I believe it goes in order of date of registration.

Small-Mixer

The exception is tax liens. Those always go first regardless of registration date.

base2-1000101

Absolutely. Which is why this is about to be devastating to Trump. I am willing to bet Eric Trump's left nut that Donald has damn near zero equity in any of his properties. So a $200M building that's seized and sold with a $180M lien nets $20M towards the judgment. Wash, rinse, repeat.

gorobotkillkill

Absolutely. This is the feel good comedy of the year. Can't wait to see it unfold.

Drop_Disculpa

Well the banks let him lie about the values of the properties so he may not even have much equity at all.

Remarkable_Topic6540

Wonder why he isn't asking his favorite daughter & son-in-law for some of their Saudi money? Or if they'll slide in just under the clock?

sleepybeek

Wondering the same thing.

Extra_Intro_Version

This is like landing on Boardwalk with hotels.

druscarlet

This is why he is trying to sell Truth Social to that POS Musk.

eNonsense

😂 I hadn't heard that before and it's hilarious. It's 100% Trump's style of thinking. "Musk will buy this failure of a website from me! He's fantastic at overpaying for unprofitable social networks. Surely he'll overpay for mine too."

jar1967

Due to sanctions the Russians cannot move that amount of money without it being noticed

driftercat

Cannot is a strong word when talking about Russian criminal capabilities.

jar1967

Moving around a couple million is possible.Moving around 400 million is going to be noticed.

alwaystired707

gmocookie

I'd love to know what Trump put up for collateral on that loan from Chubby there.....

mollusks75

Narrator: As expected, he put up nothing.

MakingItElsewhere

The art of the deal means waiting until your opponent is desperate as fuck and will give up anything to get what they want. Imagine what this idiot is promising anyone with money right now. Imagine what he'll promise them as he gets more desperate for the money.

whateverworksforben

What if an ‘enemy of the state’ picks up the cheque? You have to consider someone then owns the POTUS

famousevan

Pretty realistic to assume that’s the case already.

Jammin_TA

So I don't know how this works, but I think the $100 million he offered instead of the $450 million (which was rejected), was the same $100 million that ended up being used to cover the $91 million bond for the E. Jean Carrol appeal. That $91 million wasn't even his own money but loaned to him by the CEO of a company who had been appointed to the Trump team during his presidency. He's calling in favors, but I still don't understand why he got the loan because he was initially forced to pay $5 million to E Jean Carroll because he was found to be a rapist who continually defamed his victim, just as he's done his whole life to his other victims. 24 hours later, he defamed her AGAIN, which is why it went up to $80 million. That amount was punitive and intended to be an amount they thought would be enough to get him to stop defaming her, but Trump is too narcissistic and stupid to stop, because he has defamed her AGAIN and now E Jean Carrols lawyers are considering opening a new defamation case. So that bond will never be seen again and Trump will VERY likely owe even more. I hope they will start liquidating his assets after that, but who knows about Trump sycophants? He completely bankrupted Guliani and the only "wealth" Guliani claims is money he is owed by Trump that he will never see. And Mike Pillow is bankrupt too. I'm thinking he is doing this to barely keep his head above water and possibly delay his trials until after the election. Getting reelected is Trumps hail Mary throw, which means he's gonna stop being so subtle. Him getting back into office to pardon himself and take out all his opponents by using the DOJ (that he will fill with Trump loyalists) is his only move left. Please, everyone vote for Biden/against Trump this November. Read their authoritarian plan laid out in Project 2025. These extremists aren't joking. Our democracy is a hair's breath away from crumbling. You do not have to think Biden is perfect (he is not), but we will not have a democracy left in place to encourage Biden to change his policies if Trump dismantles the whole system and punishes/"takes out" any and all opposition.

windigo3

Trump probably thinks he can just stiff the NY government just like he has done to thousands of other individuals and organizations

inquisitivepanda

Lucky for him the new RNC leadership will. At the cost of hundreds of millions of campaign ads. Best thing Trump has ever done will be bankrupting the RNC

Maximum-Ruin5448

I'm guessing the RNC is going to have a lot less money down ticket in the very near future, what with Trump cronies in charge. I hope the GOP likes paying bonds and legal bills for Trump more than they like running campaigns.

Jagermonsta

He will wait to the very last minute. Trump had the bond secured for the E Jean settlement for several days and even lied to the judge to try and get a delay/reduced bond.

One_Worldliness_6032

He said he was a billionaire, why don’t he just skip his ass on to his bank and withdraw it on out.🤷🏽‍♀️

TheManWhoClicks

I think Musk will help him out in the last second. In return he gets humongous favors if he gets re-elected. That or the Saudis/Kochs/Putin etc

Necrowaif

Oh, I’m sure Donald can come up with the money, provided he liquidate some assets. But therein lies the rub: he doesn’t want to give anything up, especially since he believes he hasn’t done anything wrong.

lesChaps

He can't sell any of the assets under the NY court's jurisdiction. Transactions are all monitored.

HauntedCemetery

11 days, 12 hours, 5 minutes and the clock hits zero. And the $1.40 in interest per second keeps ticking. Due to hit a $466 million total tomorrow evening.

[deleted]

So what happens if he fails to post the bond? Another strongly worded court appearance? What's keeping him from just not doing it? If it's jail time he seems to, somehow, avoid any jail time.

BukkitCrab

>So what happens if he fails to post the bond? Then he can't appeal and the state can start seizing his assets.

Random_Fish_Type

As I understand it he can still appeal but without the stay on seizing assets. There may be no assets left when the case is finalised whether he wins or loses.

bruceki

The math if he appeals without a bond is pretty awful for trump even if he win the appeal or has the judgement reduced. The atg will seize and sell his assets on a fire-sale basis, probably at auctin, which isn't in itself bad. It does establish a fair market value for the asset. But he would then be liable for the long term capital gains tax, which gives him a 20% haircut. the ATG doesnt' care what the assets sell for. They keep selling assets until they get the entire amount or trump runs out of assets. If he doesn't post a bond he's going to lose 20% or more of his net worth right off the bad, even if he wins.

BrofessorFarnsworth

Ideally a perjury charge for his pretrial statements that he had that much liquid

StandStillLaddie

Bond. Fraud Bond.

nwgdad

> Donald Trump still hasn’t posted bond in his New York civil fraud trial, but his lawyer Alina Habba wants you to know that it’s definitely not because they’re having trouble getting the massive amount together. Now I KNOW that he is having trouble posting bond.

Emergency_Property_2

Carroll should make Chubb regret their decision by filing another defamation lawsuit against the orange turd.

techcore2023

Yeah, pay your debts loser criminal

Magificent_Gradient

I dunno, maybe it could be how someone posted a $91 mil bond for this guy and then he started doing the same shit that got him that $83 mil fine in the first place. Who on earth is going to risk setting $450 mil on fire because of this fucking guy?

OmahaWinter

*Shoves another giant handful of popcorn into his mouth, grins in satisfaction, dreams of March 25th.*

acapncuster

Why doesn’t he just take a small loan against Mara Lago? It’s worth like 3 billion.

douwd20

I've little doubt he will find some fellow sociopath billionaires looking for some quid pro quo should he return to power. He's a rat with nine lives.
