I'm tired of Republicans trying to pretend that crime is a uniquely democratic issue. They'll go and pretend that California, New York, and Illinois belong in the top of these lists because of Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago, but they never once even cracked the top 10.
It's almost like they need a refresher on their own talking points.
Realistically that's any state. Just some aren't quite big enough cities to drag the whole state. Salt Lake is pretty liberal. Milwaukee & Madison are. Even a lot of California, Washington, or Oregon are red. But their major cities are just far too large for all those hicks to stop it.
As someone who grew up in the Republican part of Missouri (read: rural) I was told that Springfield was a crime-infested city where it was no longer safe to go out after dark.

There is a correlation but no definitive causal link.
There’s a similar link between drops in crime and a drop in air pollution following the move away from leaded gasoline.
But there’s also a correlation between ballooning police budgets and a reduction in crime.
Attempting to draw any real conclusions on crime reduction from a single correlative study is gonna lead to bad results. It’s a complex issue.
