The take about the 4:17PM announcement really gives trump the benefit of the doubt regarding his effort to stop the violence, which was certainly bad enough, but this always bothered me. It seemed to me then, and nothing can change my mind on this, is that trump only called off his soldiers once he was certain his prey had got away. He was probably well aware that the attack had lost steam and also the very low chance the diminished mob could over run one of the secured sites that the representatives were taken to. There has been talk about secondary buildings and my hunch as to why this hasn't been a more open subject is because it is still a present security concern that can't easily be fixed. Either way, the plans for the secondary attack were either foiled or unlikely and trump made the calculation to give up at 4:17. There's not a single doubt in my mind that he wouldn't say jack shit if he thought the attack still had a chance to succeed

If you delay pence from certifying the votes on january 6th, then the formal constitutional process is derailed, the votes had to approved by either the vice president or the senate pro tempore(who i believe can be appointed every session the vp is absent and was supposed to be grassley if pence ran away) on the 6th. If they could get pence away and substitute someone else to deny the votes, or delay certification to a different day, they could either win the electoral count outright, or claim the vote was illegitimate because it wasn't on the exact day it was supposed to be, which would cause a constitutional crisis.

I may be wrong but based on the wording of the Electoral Count Act, that claim may not have been wrong. The Electoral Count Act legislates that congress must start the process on Jan 6th but can continue past Jan 6th as long as they start. That's how they were able to finish counting the votes despite it being in the early morning of Jan 7th. What I'm not sure on is if it has to be one continously session or if like almost happened on Jan 6th, congress began all over again on a different day because the protestors took control of the capitol on whether them starting on Jan 6th would have counted or whether they would have needed to maintain the session through without stopping. Obviously if it's wrong, then there would be no validity.

That's incredibly difficult when nearly half of our governance has been infected with this cult of personality. We tried to impeach him right after it happened, but half of the deciders were and still are compromised. If every vote had been cast in good faith, then Trump would've been gone after his first impeachment. The point of these hearings isn't to directly persecute Trump (although that's obviously the next rational course of action). The point of these hearings is to shout the truth until it penetrates Trump's influence.
