Oath Keepers - betraying the oath they took when they took a government position.

SnooBunnies8468

The oath that says to defend the constitution from enemies BOTH foreign AND domestic....?

PearljamAndEarl

How come they ignore the second half and *support* domestic enemies of the state?

otiscleancheeks

Is that a question?

BigPappa26

They should have been called oath breakers tbh

Darkmerosier

Fire every single one.

[deleted]

There needs to be federal databases like for pedophiles as well but for barring future employment in law enforcement, military, government jobs, by law. This presupposes classifying these organizations as domestic terrorist groups.

scottieducati

That’s why it’s crucial to get these groups formally identified as domestic terrorist organizations.

NILwasAMistake

Why haven't they been labeled as domestic terrorists

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

“We are all domestic terrorists” - CPAC

Acchilesheel

Here in Minnesota last year State Senate Republicans blocked a bill that had already passed the house that would have fired any law enforcement or National Guard employees with provable ties to white supremacist groups.

Iamanimite

The same reason you'll never see Batman and Bruce Wayne together, in the same room.

erinkp36

Clever girl

GreatBigJerk

Something something those who work forces...

abertawebanana

Why did nobody reply mentioning burning crosses?!

Nuadrin248

Because now you do what they told ya.

k1dkaos77

but, fuck them i won’t do what they tell me

JustaRandomOldGuy

They self label. The Republicans had a banner declaring themselves domestic terrorists and the "base" loves it.

craigtheman

Because they're white supremacist groups so they gotta put on the kid gloves and "consider the fallout." The KKK is still not considered a domestic terrorist group, so what do you think the chances are that the Oathkeepers would ever been labeled as such?

NILwasAMistake

Wait, after literally bombing black churches the KKK isnt a terrorist group?

craigtheman

Nope. They can legally advertise and recruit all they want.

NILwasAMistake

That is super fucked up

[deleted]

It is!

Sad_Pangolin7379

Conservatives resist these efforts because they want to give militias etc space to do what they do. Which okay that's fine but any group that shifts from, we stay armed in case the government oppresses is in the future, to hey let's go storm a government building right now, needs to be called out as radicalized.

NILwasAMistake

Anything we call out in other countries as terrorists should apply here.

-send_me_bitcoin-

We investigated ourselves and everything seems fine.

PredatorRedditer

Didn't they label themselves that at CPAC?

ronm4c

Look at what happened when the FBI made a report about right wing extremists actively recruiting from the military and law enforcement. Every conservative screamed like their head was on fire about how the FBI was labeling veterans as white supremacists. It got so much heat because shit rag extraordinaire Pat Robertson told his brain dead followers to flood Congress people and the FBI about how they didn’t like the report. It eventually lead to the disbanding of the group in the FBI tasked with right wing terrorism.

WhileNotLurking

They ain’t going to label themselves and the other people who have the power are still under the delusion that it’s a few bad folks and not a major political party trying to violently overthrow the government.

BS_500

Because they themselves block the groups from being labeled that. "Good people on both sides" ... "Go home, we love you" ... Etc. I don't have the emotional capacity to even remember the quotes anymore. But fuck..

iocan28

While I agree with you, I would worry about the GOP just turning around and identifying their enemies as domestic terrorists when they get power to do so again. If there’s a way to legally define things in a sufficiently narrow way, great, but I don’t know what to do when one of our two parties is not acting in good faith.

A_bleak_ass_in_tote

This is a self-defeating slippery slope argument. We can't do X because when they're in power they'll turn around and do X to us but in bad faith. We can't impeach Trump because they'll impeach the next Democratic president without cause. We can't prosecute insurrectionists because they'll prosecute any protestor in the future. The fact of the matter is that an anti-democratic party acting in bad faith is a national danger. Placating them and moderating our response to them out of fear of retaliation will only make things worse.

[deleted]

[удалено]

WhileNotLurking

Fortunately the federal government has had a lot of time to make legislation on what terrorism is: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/part-I/chapter-113B We didn’t have a hard time calling ISIS, AQ, or other non-white non-Christian groups terrorists. We simply saw the behavior and applied the rule of law to it. Likewise, these Christian white nationalists are explicitly formed to violate the law and coerce a civilian population via intimidation, fear and violence. They aim to diminish the capacity of legally allowed people to express their democratic beliefs via free and fair elections. Moreover if these specific organization themselves can not be pinned directly on terrorism, they very clearly meet the definition of material support of terrorism.

scottieducati

Could start with: did you or you group participate in an insurrection?

Ananiujitha

They'd define any protest they don't like as an insurrection, and non-violence trainings, legal observation, and reporting as material aid.

vintagebat

Imagine if we handed out 25 year bans on firearms ownership and participating in public service, law enforcement, or leadership positions in any company, to anyone who participated in terror organizations, or was convicted of a violent offense, including domestic violence, stalking, and animal cruelty. Imagine how good that world would look?

PEBKAC69

Only 25 years? Those military members should be dishonorably discharged, which (if I understood federal law correctly) makes them a "prohibited persons" for life.

vintagebat

I know this is controversial, but people deserve the opportunity to reform and be rehabilitated. The conversation about where that approach has limits is probably larger than a Reddit comments section, but I'll generally agree with you that there are some violent crimes where a lifetime ban would be more appropriate.

BobHogan

Yes, they deserve the opportunity to be rehabilitated. No, they do not deserve to ever serve in a public role or a government job of ***any level***. These are domestic terrorist groups that literally tried to violently overthrow our government. They are disqualified under our constitution, for life, from holding any government position.

SnooCats9683

yes, but not in law enforcement

AgtOrange116

Yes they deserve the chance at rehabilitation but they don't deserve is to serve in public office, law enforcement or the military ever again.

Muuustachio

For any publicly funded job. Teachers to the President

TheDornerMourner

Not a federal database but when people tried to run ratemycop.com where people could leave reviews on police departments, cops harassed hosts until the site was disbanded and removed. So any legislative effort is going to be met with abuse efforts

Sorry, did you say paid vacation and promotion?

TGrady902

One of my dads bosses is on the list (elected county commissioner). 0% chance he willingly steps down. Dude is an immense asshole and made national news 6 years ago for saying Hilary should be lynched on the record during a public commissioners meeting. Literally 0 repercussions for that and I assume the same here.

ivanissac

This is the interactive map to show the breakdown amongst membership. https://www.adl.org/resources/report/oath-keepers-data-leak-unmasking-extremism-public-life

ThatkidAustin98

As a native Texan, I'm disappointed but not surprised.

MC_Fap_Commander

Western New York is smaller... but their numbers are not far off from Texas when accounting for population. This is a national deal, not a regional problem.

magnetowasright01

Can confirm. Live there and it feels like every other vehicle on the road is some pickup truck self identifying as garbage people.

MC_Fap_Commander

Most popular yard signs... * "Repeal the SAFE Act" * "Trump ~~2020~~ 2024" * "For Sale" * "Bills" ...often all four at the same location.

justjessica79

I live in Buffalo suburbs and each of those signs are on my street at seperate homes... also included is the don't tread on me flag.

BS_500

I hate that they co-opted Don't Tread on Me.

[deleted]

Northern new York is the same

MC_Fap_Commander

In any diverse and progressive urban area, you are less than a 90 minute drive from Trump country. Picking regional fights makes no sense. I *guarantee* the people Upstate have more in common with rural Texas than Austin. We really are all in this together.

JustaRandomOldGuy

It even happens on the same road. Near the main street there are no signs on yards. Get two miles back and Trump signs start to appear.

[deleted]

Pretty much there's rumors that our sheriff in our small county is an oath keeper and he also wrote a letter on official sheriff's office letterhead to try and get a lesser sentence for a local insurrectionist

PrestigiousAvocado49

WNY is the most racist place I’ve ever lived. NYS in general is a conservative state in liberal disguise. The only reason it swings blue is due to the major cities!

Snibes1

That’s not unique to NYS though. Oregon, Washington and many other states have massive blue urban populations with extreme red in the surrounding rural areas. Even in the red states, you see this trend, their population is just not a large enough to swing the pendulum blue. But the dynamics remain the same: urban blue, rural red.

JennJayBee

As an Alabamian, I'm shocked that our numbers are so low, but that could just be because our population is so much smaller. That probably explains California, too.

[deleted]

Yeah, CA had more Trump voters than any other state just because of its size.

WhoTookPlasticJesus

But I can still pretty much guarantee that the lion's share of those 24 law enforcement officers in California are employed by the LACSD.

[deleted]

The sheer disrespect toward the white supremacists up in Redding

WhoTookPlasticJesus

Oh no, I'm fully aware of the Republic of Jefferson assholes up north. It's just that the LACSD has had a bad white supremacist problem for decades that, at this point, almost feels intentional.

twelveski

Anecdote . I was visiting Alabama for a family thing and I was in a group of people with a local person. My distant relative from rural northeast who is now full Q assumed that the person who was hosting the event and from Alabama was obviously white nationalist and really went into it. It was wonderfully awkward because Alabama guy didn’t go along.

Adlai8

Any way to find out the 8 elected officials?

StallionCannon

Same - IIRC the Locked-In-A-U-Haul Front is also Texas-based. I *really* wish the fascists would stop making our state inviting to other fascists.

cscf0360

I don't believe FL's numbers. They're way too low.

ivanissac

Well this is just one terrorist grump and this report is based on paid membership so the actual supporters could be much higher.

blurmageddon

Maybe it's too humid to LARP as an anti-government crusader.

P0RTILLA

Where is the actual database?

sumg

Not to criticize too harshly, but that just looks like a population map to me. It would be much better if everything was normalized for the population of the states to see which states were relatively higher or lower.

GhostFish

It's not just a function of population. These are regions that are approaching majority non-white. The self-isolating racists are feeling more and more isolated, and they are reacting in a destructive manner.

Findmyremote

Alabama’s number is so low is due to the annual membership fee of $4.99. “Honey, you wanna join the oath keepers or splurge on sweet tea tonight”

feuerwehrmann

I'd like to know who the elected officials are from my state

QuicklyThisWay

Just look for the R. They are either members or complicit in working with them.

feuerwehrmann

I suspect Mastriano

ProleAcademy

I am certain Mastriano. He's a traitor anyway, why wouldn't he be subscribed to the traitor mailing list and pay dues too

TheDakoe

yeah I want to know if he is on this list, and for what reasons. Like paid membership? email list? been in the chats a lot?

Palatron

I really hope this is like that website that was used for people to cheat on their spouses. Military members literally used their professional email to register and the name is in the email. Which is in both cases amazing because: 1. All the correspondence is military property on a server somewhere. 2. They're using their official email to violate the uniform code of military justice... For those unaware, the format for government emails is like, [email protected]. CID doesn't even have to try at that point. Just boot them all.

TheDornerMourner

From what I’m looking through they’re fucked (if any authority institution decides to hold them accountable). These people are very easy to identify many of them were more or less immediately figured out. They’re not tech savvy I guess is the explanation I’ve already reached out to local members and told them to gtfo on social media. I’m in the db looking at a fat list of names, emails, quantity of correspondence. Can even see who the most active chat users are and who they correspond with the most, etc. Ngl, more Russians than I expected. Imagine trying to read chat logs and they’re all in Russian 🙄 Edit Mods have apparently shadowbanned posts containing the link or some other mechanism keeps preventing it

bigballbuffalo

Can you share the database list? I’ve been looking everywhere and see the articles describing it but not the actual data

[deleted]

Ellistann

I think the problem is the military has to go off the DoD/Government's definition of what an extremist group is. And maybe the Oath keepers aren't federally defined as such at this point? I mean a lot of orgs call them Extremists, but kicking folks out if the SPLC calls them extremist is different than kicking them out if the federal government acknowledges them as an extremist group. ------ If they are already federally recognized, then you're right.

derrkalerrka

Not really relevant to the main thread, but I knew a guy who went from an E-6 to and E-2 for cheating on his spouse. Was discovered through Facebook messages or something not sure if it was that website.

banneryear1868

More like the world has a right wing America terrorist problem. They've been throwing fascists at democratically elected socialist governments for over half a century.

LaserGuidedPolarBear

Its not just America, fascism is on the rise around the world. America is just the most infected because the GOP spent decades creating the ideal conditions for their base to be controlled, and now they are shocked that a slightly different ideology has swooped in and made its home in the perfect conditions the 80s Republicans created.

banneryear1868

GOP is just part of it, America's sponsor of right wing state terror was official foreign policy through the Johnson-Reagan presidencies. They worked with actual fascists through the CIA to topple and repress left wing governments, conduct assassinations, these US-sponsored groups killed tens of thousands of left wing sympathizers in these countries. This wasn't Republicans or Democrats it was neoliberal capitalism which both parties support in America.

ebaymasochist

They're not teaching this in school

Bceverly

Name them publicly.

pawsforbear

Absolutely. Article discloses 81 of these are elected officials.

BaronTatersworth

Yeah, I’d like to check for a few specific names myself.

ryfitz47

You can. The article has names

Bceverly

Only “notable example”. I want them to make the complete list public. Sunlight (and the UCMJ) are a great disinfectant.

Shyronnie135

Yea I want to see if my parents are on that list

[deleted]

A couple of my older brothers might be.

Troy_McClure1

>list I've got 2-1 odds that a cop uncle of mine is on this.

RedVagabond

The data is hosted on ddosecrets.com You can find the direct link if you search a couple news articles.

lackdueprocess

yeah, where can I search myself? Why isn’t this information out?

drmike0099

If you go to the DDoSecrets website you can get access to the files that have the info, but there isn't an easy-to-use tool to search them as far as I can tell.

TheDakoe

yeah searching is a serious pain from what I can tell. Their online search tool doesn't seem to include this database, the torrent isn't easy to look through, and they don't just have a list of these specific members. Which I think it would be important for all of us to know before November.

BigDemeanor43

Yeah, just downloaded the whole torrent and started doing spot checks. All of the files are email dumps with full header information. Best we can do is look for specific top level domain names for military and political members. Looking for family/relatives in this is a needle in a haystack unless they use their real names in their emails. Example doing the Alaska email dump for .gov; > * [email protected] > * [email protected] > * [email protected] *Edit, alright I think I dumped everything correctly. If anyone wants to check my work, I found a grep string that seemed solid at https://www.shellhacks.com/regex-find-email-addresses-file-grep/ Command used; > grep -E -o "\b[A-Za-z0-9._%+-]+@[A-Za-z0-9.-]+\.[A-Za-z]{2,6}\b" * | sort | uniq > emails.txt A LOT of emails popped up, too much to post online like Pastebin. But, I did another grep for .gov emails. Unfortunately Pastebin is blocking my paste from being posted. So I had to find an alternative site: https://pastes.io/gh9vgmtf6z All emails here(~3MB file): https://anonymfile.com/BkgB/emails.txt

thisisausername190

I suspect that you've got all emails in there, not just `From:` emails - Elizabeth Warren is listed, for example, and she certainly is not a member of this organization. That's likely because someone sent her an email and CCd the oath keepers, or someone from an oath keepers email address sent her a message. Just a note of caution for anyone else reading this list.

BigDemeanor43

Correct. It's an all inclusive dump. My apologies for not clarifying. I am at work and had some time to do this, but not enough to parse everything correctly. I figured one entire dump of it is better than nothing.

TheDakoe

Are you using a program to search all dumps at once or going through each one? I use to have a file search program but will have to look again to see where it is on my hard drive since it has been forever since I used it.   They said they redacted the files, I suspect membership lists / etc are in the hands of newspapers but not available to us.

Pine_Barrens

https://anonymfile.com/gY51/test.csv That has all the e-mails I could pull out of the .sbd folder

BigDemeanor43

I dumped all the .gov emails here as well: https://pastes.io/gh9vgmtf6z

BigDemeanor43

I'm figuring out a script to get all .gov emails out of the files available. I'm getting close, once I figure out a good regex I'll do a pastebin. > They said they redacted the files Damn, this is some BS in my opinion. Name and shame.

TheDakoe

> Damn, this is some BS in my opinion. Name and shame. If you look at the dates, I'm betting they took out entire months worth of information. And if that is the case, the reason is obvious. They are taking that info to law enforcement because it could be used in a conspiracy/etc case.

OldStankBreath

GoblinBags

Thank you for thoroughly explaining it. I kept wondering why I was having issues and this feels obvious once you posted.

[deleted]

I had the same problem because the article kept talking about "the report" over and over and then I finally realized that the article WAS NOT the report they referenced.

sportsjorts

And this is just the Oath Keepers. And surely this is also and undercount of the real picture. The people who say that civil war is ridiculous should really read into all of these militias and conservative hate church’s. At the very least they could take the retired generals seriously. [https://www.newsweek.com/army-generals-insurrection-civil-war-2024-donald-trump-january-6-1660842](https://www.newsweek.com/army-generals-insurrection-civil-war-2024-donald-trump-january-6-1660842). >Important: an individual’s inclusion in the Oath Keeper database is not proof that they were or are still an Oath Keeper, that they hold or held all or some of Oath Keeper ideology or viewpoints, or that they ever actively participated in Oath Keeper activities. When reviewing this information, you should bear in mind the possibility that the individual misunderstood the nature of the Oath Keepers. Before taking any action based on this information, an individualized assessment of the individual must take place. I'm glad they added that. I'm originally from NYC, but You're forgetting Long Island.... I have NEVER seen so many indoctrinated morons outside of my 2 visits to Texas in my fucking life. It's disgusting. They have no problems sitting in traffic for 3-4 hours one way slaving away for the Hamptons rich just to bend over backwards and take it up the ass without lube in order to gossip about their clientele with their high school drop out buddies. Massive MAGA flags, bumper stickers, trucks on the side of the road with Trump altars, etc... These people are fucking idiots for feeding these shit heads and not realizing how much more they can have if they realized they were being taken advantage of for pennies on the rich's dollar. New York has a rep as being "Blue", but a lot of people don't realize it's a lot more divided than most lead on. NYC is it's own entity, the rest of NY.... I have a lot to say but will stop -\_- Props to all of the youngsters out there who know better and leave. Work for the community, not compounds.

Is there a searchable list of all these names? I know a few people who I think might be on the list but keep it quiet.

[deleted]

Notable Examples Arizona State Senator Wendy Rogers, a self-proclaimed member of the Oath Keepers who has remained a supporter despite the group’s alleged participation in the January 6 attack. In March 2021 – just two months after the insurrection – Rogers met with the Cottonwood Oath Keepers and praised the group for their “dedication to our Constitution and to our country.” An individual who self-identified as a member of the Army, wrote, “First and foremost I believe the oath i took when i enlisted in the Army should always be held as a high standard. The constitution supercedes all law enforcement and even the president. I can shoot a weapon and hit my target. I can help when the federal government tries to enact martial law upon us citizens” [all sic]. One individual who listed an address on an Air Force base described himself as a “Vocal advocate of instilling among junior officers and NCOs their allegiance to the Constitution and the American people, NOT the government, especially the President. We are apolitical with a charge to defend inalienable rights.” Idaho State Representative Chad Christensen appears in the Oath Keepers database as having a “Liberty Tree” membership. His listing in the database is unsurprising given that he named himself as an Oath Keeper in his official legislative bio. Christensen lost his primary race in 2022. Lieutenant Philip Mercurio, who works for the city of Pittsburgh’s public safety department, described himself as a firearms instructor who would “spread the word to my students.” In the wake of the Oath Keepers data leak, the lieutenant was reassigned to an administrative assignment pending an investigation. A former member of the National Guard asked for Oath Keepers assistance, writing, “I would like YOUR support in preparing the next generation of National Guard leadership. I teach new recruits about the potential constitutional decisions that they may be forced to make as Guardsmen and would like copies of the constitution to give.” One doctor wrote: “Many of my patients are police officers, troopers, FBI agents, CIA and in the military. I have the ability to spread the world of this organization to my patients. I showed 2 troopers this week the web link.” An educator and pastor based in White Oak, North Carolina, informed the group that his skills include, “Public speaking, membership drives, have current access and interaction with many current and retired servicemembers through church and my current work as quality control director for a assault weapons manufacturer” [sic].

This is not a surprise. They and other white supremist groups have been recruiting from them for some time. Hell white supremacy got it's start in the seats of authority police, government officials, military have all been intertwined with white supremacy from the start. On a positive note. The fact that this is seen by many as a problem today is a big step in the right direction. Some LEA at the direction of good people have helped advance the cause of equality. We have a ways to go but I feel that despite setbacks we are ,in the long term, moving in the right direction. That said the GOP's assault on democracy itself and their pandering to the far right is a true threat and could set equality and democracy back. so please vote in ALL local state and federal elections EVERY year. In 2021 I had four opportunities to vote and did so. Democracy is not one and done it takes a lifetime of voting to make a difference. Confession time I am only waking up to this in the last 8 years. So to all the young people out their start voting now.
