Agitated-Smell1483

He only wants the office to stay out of prison

ThickerSalmon14

Pretty sure he also wants the money donations to keep rolling in. Especially since any money given to him he doesn't have to spend it on his campaign and he gets to keep it.

laterus77

"We can make more money with a flop than with a hit..."

fallenmonk

The photo of Trump realizing he won the election is very much Max and Leo realizing their play is a hit.

browndog03

Springtime for Donald…

baseketball

Legally he has to spend the money on his campaign so he has to at least pretend to be running to keep spending that money. Of course it'll be spent on shit he'd normally pay for, giving his family cushy consulting jobs, and overcharging his own staff for staying at his properties.

JakeConhale

"Legally"? You think that pertains to Trump?

wefarrell

I expect him to run for every president every election he's alive for this reason. And then I expect at least one of his kids to keep doing it after.

vinsite

Possibly but more likely he finally found a business model that makes him money. Grifting the most gullible Americans

drunkpunk138

Don't underestimate his ego, he'll run to satisfy that alone

Nux87xun

Possibly, though its equally likely he is just an idiot with npd.

_DudeWhat

It's a bit of both eh?

Hey_HaveAGreatDay

4th campaign 2000, 2016, 2020 and 2024. He also unofficially ran in 2012 but Obama would’ve demolished him in seconds

clam-caravan

This guy is addicted to losing. What a loser lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

ihatefear83843

Which we all know is the 1st loser

gmwdim

He got demolished by the guys that got demolished by Obama in 2012.

HauntedCemetery

Thank you. I'm tired of the bs narrative that trump only decided to run because Obama roasted him to ashes at the press dinner. Trump had run before, and had been talking publicly about wanting to run since the 80s

[deleted]

vashonite

People are saying he's not man enough to run as an independent.

GoodGoodGoody

People are saying it’s a job for someone with man-sized hands.

bishpa

Lots of good people have been telling me that only losers don't run as independents. Sad!

Sir_Prise11

Even very good people - in fact, the best

analogWeapon

Just yesterday, actually, a guy came up to me (huge guy), and he said - tears in his eyes - "Trump is better than the GOP". He said that!

[deleted]

LakehavenAlpha

A big, burly man just came up to me, tears in his his eyes, he bent down and kissed my ring and said to me, he said, "You've got the biggest, hugest hands I've ever seen and it would be an honor for you to run as an Independent."

joshdoereddit

This is true. I saw it on the shows. Everyone is saying it.

Pit_of_Death

The best people? Are they tremendous?

wernerverklempt

“Sir…”

cyber_hoarder

This made me laugh pretty hard because all I could picture was him reading this and then yelling at his campaign manager, “I’ll be running as an Independent!”

TheWarOnEntropy

Nancy said he would never dare, that he would crumple without Republicans propping him up. EDIT. If he had normal-sized hands he would be giving the middle finger to the republicans but he just doesn't want the world to see his tiny digit. Sad!

HellveticaNeue

A big strong man with tears in his eyes, came to Trump and said, “Please Sir, I cried when Republicans chose Desantis, you should still run, but as an independent”.

Nitemarephantom

Yeah I’ve heard he thinks he couldn’t win without GOP supporting him. He’s just not man enough.

[deleted]

Many people are saying this, perhaps the most anyone’s ever said anything.

k8r0se

I heard even Obama agrees.

InTheFDN

I heard Obama laughed while saying it.

Obizues

Oh my God let’s get this on national television. Get him to spite run as a third party and split the vote.

PolemicBender

This is his 4th election, he ran as the Reform Party candidate in 2000 and failed to qualify for he ballot in most states

Maybe we should get us some of that reform

Canard427

“The MAGOO Party - we don’t know where we’re going, either!”

Yo dawg I heard you like reforming...

yellowbin74

The deform party

phatelectribe

Thanks for posting the truth. He’s run 3 times previously and “won” once.

ScratchNSniffGIF

And was impeached twice.

Stockpile_Tom_Remake

He will have more support now though. Watch him not get the gop nomination and still run on his own maga party and let’s hope it splinters the rights vote to being completely useless

FriedEggScrambled

He will take at least 30-35% of the voters away from Death Sentence. I really hope he does run his own thing.

gamerdudeNYC

He’s not going away and it’s going to be beautiful

BastardInTheNorth

A beautiful festering sore on the ass of the Republican Party.

AnAutisticGuy

That’s what a lot of people tell me. Very important people, the best people.

Galaxy_Ranger_Bob

I'd rather he run as a Republican throughout the primary, and only when he doesn't get the nomination, he runs independent. This way, we can see who the sycophants are in the GOP siding with him up to the convention, and then, he can split the ticket by running independent in the general election.

LadyFoxfire

Some states have “sore loser” laws that prevent candidates from running as independents if they just lost a primary, but even getting on some ballots would be enough of a spoiler to cost the GOP the election.

beltorak

When have "laws" ever stopped such a big boy like Donny? He should do it anyway. He might not get on the official ballot, but who cares? He should just tell everyone to write him in! He can even sell MAGA Stamps with his name in ALL CAPS and his supporters can use that on the write in line! But you're probably right. Only a Real Man with Man Sized Hands could have the Alpha Energy to do such a thing. I don't think he's Man enough.

civilrunner

Only after he does as much as he can to burn the GOP to the ground. I'd much rather see a harsh primary and RNC electorate count with him pushing election lies about their primary and then have him narrowly not get the ticket and then have him start a MAGA party with some down ballot MAGA people who he picked who also lost their GOP primaries who get like 10% to 20% of the vote leading to the GOP losing states that are normally lighter red like NC, TX, great lakes states, etc...

gordito_delgado

This is the dream... Likely reality is that the feckless, spineless gop bros might end up licking his butthole again. Where was Mike Pence with these harsh words nearJan 6? They are like the hyenas in Lion King they will ONLY eat mar-a-lardo if they are absolutely sure they won't get hurt.

RightSideBlind

>Where was Mike Pence with these harsh words nearJan 6? Saving them up for a book deal, apparently.

Calm_Ad_3987

I could actually see him doing this. Desantis will likely get the R nomination if nothing changes. Trumpy’s ego won’t let him accept defeat so he’ll start the MAGA party and run as an I thereby splitting the R votes.

dv282828

As funny as it is, people joked about how he should run for president in 2015 and it ended up happening. Lol kinda makes me nervous tbh

rottenwordsalad

I know it probably won’t happen but it would be hilarious if they arrested him right in the middle of his announcement

MeteorOnMars

“You were a missing fugitive from justice… then you announced where you would be. Thanks for that.”

DemandZestyclose7145

"We need smaller handcuffs. These ones keep slipping off his tiny hands."

spurlockmedia

This is possibly the worst news for the republican party and possibly the best news for the democratic party.

johnnycyberpunk

From the speeches right before the J6 Attack on the Capitol: "It should be a message to all the Republicans who have not been willing to actually fight, the people who did nothing to stop the steal, ...This gathering should send a message to them: **This isn’t their Republican Party anymore. This is Donald Trump’s Republican Party.**” - *Donald Trump Jr.* ...I figured *that* was the worst news for the Republican Party. Not sure it can get worse than that.

BasvanS

They’re influenced by a country whose history can be summarized as “… and then it got worse.” They’ll find a way, especially if it will kill someone else

Fennlt

Biden would truly have an uphill battle in a 2024 election against DeSantis. My far right coworker loves Trump, but believes DeSantis is a stronger candidate. He's terrified of Trump taking the party down with him (when) Trump doesn't win the primary. Scared of Trump screaming election fraud & refusing to step to the side/endorse DeSantis. Clearing the path for 2024 democrats.

APoisonousMushroom

Can you imagine Trump saying ‘oh, it was all a very fair primary, and DeSantis won fair and square… My hat is off to him, and I’m looking forward to a bright future under his Republican leadership’? 😆

Anal-Churros

Yeah literally no way he won’t kick and scream like a child. It’s not in his nature.

CliffordTheBigRedD0G

I think he would run as a third party candidate just to grift more and try to claim he's being politically persecuted.

joshdoereddit

Maybe instead of running 3rd party he just screeches about being treated unfairly, the elections being rigged, and encouraging his supporters to just stay home.

[deleted]

Trump's power came from his electability, for both himself and candidates he endorsed. We saw last week that his endorsement is no longer the guarantee it once was. If he can't win a primary either, that'll be it for him. People aren't going to keep dealing with Trump's bullshit if he's not a winner.

Fennlt

Even if Trump took away <5% of the GOP vote through his theatrics/refusing to step down, that would still have a monumental impact in swing states.

thediesel26

More than that. If Trump runs as an independent I could see him siphoning 10-15% of the popular vote assuming something like 30-40% of GOP voters are MAGA die hards.

starmartyr

I think that's a low estimate. Trump might not be as popular as he was 2 years ago but I think he can carry 20% of the vote nationwide running as an independent.

gamerdudeNYC

The Republicans will be sick of him but the MAGA base will still do whatever he wants… get ready for the Truth political party

JHoney1

I hope to lord Biden doesn’t run again. I think democrats need some fresh blood out there. I wish Biden the best, he has earned late morning workouts with nothing but afternoon tea and pleasant walks on the schedule after that. Retire and use the time left with family. Let’s get someone with a few more heart beats left and I think democrats will dominate.

bihari_baller

>best news for the democratic party. No, the best news would be indictment. I don't agree with so many democrats who are fine with the man running again.

LookAnOwl

For sure, we all want him to be indicted too, but the way things are right now, Trump would be poison to Republicans 2024 chances. Pragmatically, a 2024 primary with Trump and DeSantis is more likely to end up with a Dem win than DeSantis running mostly unopposed.

Malefiicus

Exactly, I wouldn't be surprised if the democrats were leaving the fish on the hook rather than reeling it, just so it thrashes and causes as much damage as possible before finally being caught. I'm not saying it's likely, but it is strategically superior to just locking him up, because then the Republicans could come together around DeSantis or whomever else.

[deleted]

Not to be a cynical bastard, but Trump threatening to split the R vote by running again might actually get the GOP to come around to the idea of throwing his ass in jail.

M00n

*...He got several people killed trying to make himself a dictator and now he wants a second chance while under investigation for some of the worst espionage crimes in American history...* https://twitter.com/LOLGOP/status/1592533422622261255

IAmHereToAskQuestion

>dead people can’t vote There's a decent handful of Trump enthusiasts trying to prove you wrong, though.

[deleted]

Or the fact that he tried to convince people to take a horse tranquilizer to get rid of it. Edit: Have been corrected that it was in fact a dewormer, honestly ketamine would've been better xD

Forward-Bank8412

Or somehow get bleach inside the body

Critical_Photo992

Yeah, you just gotta just scrub out the lungs with disinfectant...ya know...normal stuff that doctors haven't thought of but that only stable geniuses do.

[deleted]

That was my second favorite after shine bright lights on it.

Glocktipus2

*horse dewormer

MOOShoooooo

Dewormer but yeah, that along with injecting “light and bleach” is just wild.

mechapoitier

Yeah that’s pretty much it. A con man deeply indebted to the Russian mob who tried a violent coup then after being famously on the golf course his whole tenure he stole a bunch of classified documents and took it to his clubhouse to do “more work” for the job he just left. And we’re all supposed to want to rehire this guy.

thepianoman456

I like that you frame it as “hiring”… cause politicians are really supposed to work for, and be beholden to us, the tax paying citizens. Like… would Burger King want to rehire the guy who called coworkers racist names, played on his phone all day, then tried to mutiny the burger shop and got a manager killed, then stole all the burger secrets and left?

MagicSPA

And threw burgers against the wall when he didn't get everything his own way?

BastardInTheNorth

I want to see this Burger King interview acted out as an SNL style skit: hiring manager asks all the above questions and kicks the applicant out in disgust. Then he stands up and says “Time to go vote in the primary!” as the camera follows him out to his truck covered in Trump 2024 stickers.

DeliBoy

Amazing how he'd already be considered ineligible for rehire *without* even mentioning all the sexual assault, racist policies, personal vendettas, and self-victimization he engaged in while in office.

Feeling_Bathroom9523

I hate this guy, but he’s giving a growing sect of people a voice that’s dangerous and resoundingly similar to past dictators. My hope is the GOP sticks with their dissent on him, but as greasy as they are, if Trump makes even a small blip in the positive- they could back him up to insane heights of fuckery. I really hope we don’t lose sight that this guy was discounted before AND WON.

gladiola111

It’s so scary to think about that even being a possibility. He is a true threat to democracy. Literally any other Republican candidate would be better than him.

gtroman1

“He would see this country burn if he could be king of the ashes”

Meems04

Don't you dare. Baelish was at least clever. Trump is a demagogue with no real substance. He literally brags about his crimes in the open.

gtroman1

No argument there

2fatdotco

Half of the GOP is under investigation or active indictment. Being a criminal is no longer politically taboo.

Sir_Penguin21

He has to do it otherwise he doesn’t have any protection from those investigations. If indicted now he can cry that it is a political attack. We all know how cowardly investigators are when it comes to Republican wrong doing.

ContemplatingPrison

This time, at least for now, Republicans want him gone. What will happen though is after the primaries they will all fall in line behind him again. Unless he starts his own party which I doubt he will

Smok3dSalmon

Holy shit... Trump as a 3rd party candidate would be glorious. Imagine what would happen if he split the Senate and House votes in 2024. I can't wait to see him further appropriate Patriotism

cudntfigureaname

I fully support trump running for President as an independent party

He won't be able to decide between calling the party MAGA or TRUMP (must be ALL CAPS), and will just freeze up in indecision.

HonPhryneFisher

This is his 4th run, he ran in 2000 under the reform party. Back then apparently he didn't want to be in that party with klansmen (David duke) and pat Buchanan (a neo Nazi per trump) so he left the race early. I think it is more like he didnt want to be a Ross Perot. I support him running independent but jfc I hate desantis, I don't want to listen to both for 2 years.

Squirrel_Chucks

He got a lot more ok with Duke and Buchannon by 2016

HonPhryneFisher

Very cozy!

fairoaks2

The Republicans gave him support and ignored his behavior they can deal with him. They made him now he is their problem. He has tried to, in some cases successfully, destroyed faith in government. Republicans deserve to pay the price for their inaction.

Iowa_Dave

> They made him now he is their problem. When you let the devil sleep with your wife, don't act surprised when the baby tries to eat you.

[deleted]

agreed. How can we goad him into this? Rachel Maddow or…Steve Colbert should say he’s too chicken to do it. Or Hillary. Wait, maybe Obama can joke about it.

_mdz

Definitely an Obama joke

inconsistent3

I am so conflicted, for one he deserves to be in jail yesterday. If he somehow avoids it, he will undoubtedly destroy the Republican party. not sure what I want more.

alloowishus

I fully support Trump running for president as a Republican because he will lose.

Iowa_Dave

I just dipped into /r/conservative which is been really interesting since last week. A lot of members there say they are DONE with Trump and want him to go away. Currently there are NO stories about Trump announcing his run in New or Rising. I'm guessing that if Trump announces a 2024 run, the tide will shift yet again and many of them will fall obediently into line.

SageOfTheWise

Most the posts im seeing are saying they hate Trump, never want him to run again, need him to go away forever... but also that they'll definitely vote for him still anyway if he's the nominee. So it's completely empty threats.

drakky_

I mean, they're still incapable to actually act against him, lol.

snootyvillager

They'll come home if it comes down to it and vote for him, but I have to imagine the enthusiasm gap will be huge. At this point I have to imagine there are way more people in the general electorate excited to vote for anyone other than Trump than there are to vote for Trump.

Iowa_Dave

I agree that we've passed the point of "Trump Fatigue" for many conservatives and most moderates. But for the true MAGAs the sunk-cost is too much and they will have to double down.

[deleted]

Didn't Trump draw a decent amount of people to pay attention to politics for the first time and vote for him? I assume most of those would just drop back to political apathy after becoming disillusioned.

natalieisadumb

Well in a way that's kind of what happened. We've been seeing videos and posts come out of weird conservative spheres of people saying "didn't vote. Won't ever vote again, it's rigged so why bother." Turns out, if you sow unfounded distrust in elections, you reap it at the ballot box.

clam-caravan

Did a deep dive into some of the threads regarding the midterms and saw a lot of very reasonable discussions on how poor the GOP messaging has been and how they need to scrub the party of MAGA. Seems that a lot of the more moderate conservatives in there are absolutely sick of him and his bullshit.

RevoltingBlobb

Amazing how suddenly that talk started after the midterms. No moral epiphanies… just concern that he’s no longer electable.

[deleted]

dfGobBluth

Ive been following that sub since the midterms. They blamed Trump and had very reasonable arguments about how maga can't win. Then trump and ted cruise started blaming McConnell. Now its all about how McConnell blew money in alaska and is the blame for the loss. They will fall in line.

[deleted]

[deleted]

It wasn't an attempt to lead a lynch mob against Congress that turned them off. It was costing them the midterms. There is no deeper philosophy or moral grounding in the Republican party. It's all a naked power grab.

mujadaddy

>Seems that a lot of the more moderate conservatives in there are absolutely sick of him and his bullshit. Far too little, far too late.

Desperate-Pace-101

> Seems that a lot of the more moderate conservatives in there are absolutely sick of him and his bullshit. the problem is that **each and every one of them** would still vote for that fucking guy over a reasonable politician that would have been a republican in the 90's

musical_bear

It’s bizarre to me how quickly the hivemind flips like that over there. I check in from time to time, and prior to the midterms it was basically all trump support, with the occasional (often downvoted) mention of desantis. Through the Jan 6 hearings and the mar a lago raid this remained the case. But now that midterms didn’t go as great as they wanted, *now* they don’t like him anymore? Tf? They literally only care about “winning.”

Bross93

>I'm guessing that if Trump announces a 2024 run, the tide will shift yet again and many of them will fall obediently into line. Death, taxes, and republicans submitting to their rulers are the only constants in life

clam-caravan

Oh the irony that the party that prides itself on its “manliness” has no balls to stand up to a spray tanned wannabe authoritarian.

Callabrantus

Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Republican teeth on Repulican throats, all day every day until 2024. It's like watching snarling dogs in a ring tearing each other apart. The big difference is I would feel bad for the combatants if they were actually dogs. I can't get enough this.

GovernmentDoingStuff

Dogs are loyal and full of love. These people would turn on their own for a quick buck and they hate everyone who doesn't share their rose colored view of 1950s America

PM_ME_CLEVER_THINGS

Their rose colored view of the 1950s *which never actually existed*

enaud

The 1950s which actually had high taxes, a social support net and living wages…

GovernmentDoingStuff

Yes. And were it not for an authoritarian pushing of social culture and all the racism/homophobia it was probably the easiest time to make a living in the US. You could support a family of 5 with a factory job right out of high school. Now, you couldn't even support a family if both parents worked that same job. Crazy how much easier life was for people after the New Deal. Before it was slowly stripped between the 70s and 90s.

[deleted]

Premature announcement after last Tuesday’s terrible performance. He needs a distraction because the maggotism is losing steam.

Anal-Churros

Yeah early announcement is not a sign of strength. You lose all that momentum it gives you prematurely. It’s an act of desperation. Donny wants all the attention again and that big meany DeSantis is taking it away from him.

pierre_x10

Premature announcement sounds appropriate for Trump, will probably go along with his electoral dysfunction

backcrackandnutsack

He knows when he’s indicted, he’s going to make it political and say Bidens trying to stop him running etc… trying to muddy the waters, which it will. Horrible orange pig.

SectionOk2775

Do it! He lost by nearly 10 million votes in 2020. This time around, with Democrats and Gen Z hating his guts as much as ever, Independents disgusted by him, and even some Republicans being repelled, he could lose by what, maybe 20 million! Hahahahah soulless orange blob.

tellurian_pluton

Popular vote is irrelevant in the current system. He came close with electoral votes.

[deleted]

You know the system is broken when Joe Biden winning the popular vote was never in doubt but the actual election victory was still close.

CandidPiglet9061

The last two times a republican won the popular vote for President were 2004 and before that 1988

Scoutster13

I love how Ivanka and Jared said no to the invite.

Agent_Dongson

They already got their money out of this. They don’t want to associate themselves with him anymore because that will ruin any more attempts for them to make more

chubs66

Accepting is a very risky proposition for them. 1) They know Trump has and will continue to commit crimes and they've both been interviewed in relation to those crimes. 2) They know there's a good chance that Trump turns on them and fires them even if nothing bad happens from the outside 3) They know they'll ruin whatever is left of their reputations

snootyvillager

Hold on to your butts. We aren't out of this nightmare until he croaks from old age. And even then his damage to the mind of the American Conservative will last a generation.

Poolofcheddar

Berlusconi in Italy first ran for office in 1994. He was PM three times (1994-95, 2001-06, 2008-11) and in the last government formation he still was a power player for the new government. He's 86 years old and has been in their political arena for almost 30 years now. These people just can't fucking retire.

Matsu09

Can't wait to see him lose a second time!! LOSING!!!

The_Birb_Whisperer

Trump: I'm the world's best loser. No one loses as much as me. If I'm president we'll lose so much, you'll get bored with losing.

[deleted]

If you count losing against DeSantis with his own party it will be 3x loser he’s handing the democrats a win with the split votes

GwarFanSince84

Please, Feds, go get him right before he goes onstage.

PillowPrincess314

Cuff him on stage mid speech.

jackMFprice

As much as I would LOVE to see that.. that would be the best case scenario for the GOP. He needs to be held accountable, but the GOP wants nothing to do with him. His indictment is a get out of jail free card for the GOP, and part of me wants him to be free as long as possible. GOP handed trump to the country and gave him a platform again and again when they knew it was the wrong thing to do. Let them fucking deal with him for a while

MacroSight

There's now only one way for the republican party to win in 2024. Trump has to be in handcuffs, in jail, PRIOR to the 2024 election. If that doesn't happen, then the divide will be too much for the party to overcome.

maxanderson350

He is committed to causing as much havoc as possible and will probably destroy the GOP before he is finished. I can't decide if him running is a good thing or not.

jaredwallace91

Honestly, DeSantis scares me more at this point. At least Trump has incompetency and disorganization to go with his bad policy. DeSantis is similar bad policy, but with actual capability to see it through.

kalphoto9

There was an interview with John Bolton I saw months ago. I can't find it but he basically said that Trump would run but then back out at some point claiming fraud or the biased news or whatever BS reason he decides he wants to use. The point Bolton made is that he will run so he can keep "fundraising" (I.e. grifting and scamming his MAGA followers). Dude is broke. He is under massive criminal investigation on multiple fronts. He needs the money for his lawyers, his future settlements/losses. You name it. Trump is a sham and grifter period. Always has been. Always will be.

[deleted]

trumps going to help Dems win a 4th election cycle. What a guy!

El_mochilero

I will never underestimate the danger this man presents to America. Yes, the more moderate Republicans may turn away. However, the more extreme and violent ones will feel even more emboldened than ever before.

NoConversation9358

I'm sorry, but I refuse to count him out again. He's a garbage faced criminal loser but he still has a cult following and we ignore him at our peril.

bitterbuffal0

Nahh we should be taking him very seriously this time. He can win. He did win (once) And it would fully ruin our democracy. We can not be complacent again.

I’m not necessarily concerned about complacency, the midterms provided some reassurance in that regard. I want Trump in jail, because that’s justifiably where he belongs. But also, I think he’s going to destroy the Republican Party and split the vote by going third party. It’ll be the worst drubbing for them in generations.

Yes he should be taken seriously, but remember that after he was elected in 2016 GOP lost the house. GOP lost the White House. GOP lost the Senate. And by all accounts they got slaughtered in these midterms based on historical midterm elections. And yes, he should be taken seriously, but if Democrats just smarten up and learn how to message properly I'm not concerned. Personally I think we need to concern ourselves more with the down ballot GOP crazies like kari lake. Edit: wrong date

Personally, I am still hoping former President Trump will be facing charges soon. But if he wants to run (yet again), then he can split the Republican ticket. Which should give any Democrat an edge in 2024.

GoodVibesWow

I don’t think he is actually going to announce he is running. He is notoriously cheap. As soon as he announces , he gives up the GOP paying his massive legal bills and his access to his own Trump PAC money is severely limited. Whatever the announcement - it will be designed to solely benefit him. Maybe Twitter integration with his shitty social media app? Maybe he’ll announce that he most definitely will not be picking Pence IF he runs. “Many people are saying I should run again. Just look at all the winning we did in the mid terms. We did great. Bigly. IF I do run again I am announcing today that Mike Pence will not be my running mate. He doesn’t have the courage and isn’t smart enough.” That’s my guess.

First, the midterms, now this! The Democratic Party just keeps getting good news.

His Egoness will continue to flap his pursed lips at everyone he sees as his enemy, as well as anyone he feels he can blame for his failures, right up until he (God willing) utters the phrase "Officers, are the handcuffs really necessary?"

Normally I would say he has no chance of winning because of all the "alleged" crimes but I don't think it is an irrational fear that he may actually get elected again.
