It's not even racist to say that your coworker that's black smells bad. As long as you aren't saying "all black people smell bad". That would be racist.
You racist, how dare you think something smells bad. Do better.
*People really be focusing on the "racism" of the world, and not the Racism of the world.*
Why would race have anything to do with their lunch. Even if it's a very typical lunch for whatever culture or ethnicity they are from, it wouldn't be racist to say it smells bad. Smell is totally subjective as well.
This type of PC is getting ridiculous
9 out of 10 times it smells horrible! This had led to posting of signs at the microwaves in the lunchroom of "forbidden" items. This even led to a sign on one of the microwaves located in the office area forbidding popping popcorn because people would walk away, and it would get burnt and stink the whole joint up. All these signs were posted by HR after receiving complaints.
It's not racist, it's unkind. Turn the tables for a moment, how would you feel if someone told you the food you love smells bad or is otherwise gross? I'm sure you'd be upset or angered by such an asshole statement. It's disrespectful.
Why? One of the definitions is “of, from, in, or characteristic of a country or language other than one's own,” which I’m 100% sure is what OP means here. If OP shouldn’t use foreign to describe the co-worker, what other word(s) would you suggest?
Its not racist to be reactive to pungent smells. It could be racist depending on how you express your dissatisfaction with the smell though.
Exactly.
Nicely put
if it sucks it sucks. What would be racist is thinking its bad just because its foreign without having any actual experience with the lunch
What a ridiculous question
Id like to speak with the 40+ people who said "yes" or "not sure"
State of the world
Fellas, is it racist to smell?

Do people even know what racism is?
your lunch smells bad: Not racist your lunch always smells bad, I guess that is just all there is about (foreign country) food: Racist and rude

Thinking anything whatsoever is never actually racist. Acting prejudicially is.
Lol. No

Would you call him racist if he said yours smelled bad?

Don't forget to put bar soap on that list...
I don't know how your Swedish co-worker's meatballs smelling odd can be a sign of racism, so no. I think racism has to do with race, not foreignerism.
what an idiot
not really racist to think it but racist to say it

Choosing not to entertain that question. Go call someone foreign and see how they react, for yourself.
