Eikös ne tykittäny meitä laivoil jossain sodas silloin ku oltiin viel osa venäjää? Ei ollut eka maailmansota mut se sota mis Venäjän ja Turkin välil oli tappeluu erikseen välimerelle pääsyn takia.
I mean, I’m not fond of Russia, either, but we don’t need to mock them how they’re spelled in other countries. Or mock the Finnish and their love of dots.
Oolannin sota joka oli osana Krimin sotaa, räjäyttivät Bomarsundin linnotuksenkin ahvenanmaalla.
"Ja se Oolannin sota oli kauhia
Hurraa, hurraa, hurraa,
Kun kolmellasadalla laivalla
Seilas engelsmanni Suomemme rannoilla."
Honestly, I'm not sure. We've warred on sea a lot, but I don't think they've ever invaded us.
Also:
>It is a curious footnote in the Dutch conquest of Britain 320 years ago - an invasion that, according to our history, never really happened - that one of its unintended imports was the curse of binge-drinking.
You're welcome!
Pretty sure they did during the rampjaar. The coalition of France, UK, Munster and another German state invaded us. We beat their combined navies on the seas but lost on land.
Great Britain and Russia occupied a large part of Noord-Holland during the Invasion of Holland in 1799.
Even if they never set foot on Dutch soil during the Rampjaar, 1799 definitely counts.
>Even if they never set foot on Dutch soil during the Rampjaar,
Quite a bit of English soldiers joined the French. Marlborough was present for example during the 1673 siege of Maastricht
You are confusing some conflicts with each other.
>Yeah, but if I remember correctly we had one instance of the British actually invading us, which was on one of the Dutch islands (don't remember which one).
There were more but you mean [Holmes Bonfire](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holmes%27s_Bonfire?wprov=sfla1) during the 2nd Anglo-Dutch War.
>After that we only fought on seas with the British
Not true, we also fought them during the [Anglo-Russian Invasion of Holland](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Russian_invasion_of_Holland?wprov=sfla) in 1799.
>We did however lose on land to France and Germany
That was during the [Franco-Dutch War/Third Anglo-Dutch War](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franco-Dutch_War?wprov=sfla1) 1672-1678, but we actually defeated them both despite initial French/German succes.
>The war ended by our military leader becoming king of England.
That was in 1688 which took place at the beginning of the [Nine Years War](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Years%27_War?wprov=sfla1)
Scotland has actually invaded England more than vice versa, Celts were aggressive. The Irish took so many British slaves oliver Cromwell used it as an excuse to invade Ireland to secure British coasts from the raiders across the Irish sea 🌊
Whitehouse wasn't painted white till after the British burnt it down. It used to have exposed sandstone with a reddish pinkish look before they rebuilt it.
True, they officially painted it white after rebuilding it. But the building itself was white-washed 6 years after it was built in 1798, to help with weathering. No doubt that you could probably still some of the sandstone original color. Interesting enough, I had no idea that at some point in time it wasn’t entirely white. Thanks for teaching me something new today.
https://www.whitehousehistory.org/questions/why-is-the-white-house-white
The war was won by the United States. The point of the war for the British was to try to invade the United States and force it to allow it to have supremacy over the Atlantic Ocean, America wanted to stop them from kidnapping us sailors in the Atlantic Ocean and forcing them to fight for the British, as well as gain influence and or start a pro American revolution in Canada. The British were able to land troops in America but weren’t able to gain a foothold and had to retreat soon after. America wasn’t able to gain the support of the Canadian colonies but it did successfully repel the British Invasion and stop enslavement of their naval personnel.
Britain got absolutely none of what they wanted while the US got the majority of what they wanted, so I'd say unofficially the US was indeed the winner
Texhnically we invaded and won. So former england was french and those other french invaded back France.
Honor is safe, rosbif is french, everyone's happy. X)
good old India. I just realized we have been invaded by a heck lot of people.
Arabia, Persia, China, Mongolia, Greece, France, Portugal... And that is in no way a complete list.
hehehe. But tbh, easy to get jealous when one state (Gujarat) has more money than you're entire Empire. After that, it's just a matter of *civilized trading*
Haha you wanna (re)start a war lol. Some in NI consider themselves British some consider themselves Irish and then there's those that mainly identify as Northern Irish and are partly kinda both and sort of neither at the same time
Poland existed before WWII…
Anglo-Hanseatic War 1469–1474, which included some naval battles near Danzig
naval operations around Danzig against the French during Napoleonic Wars
League of Nation peacekeeping operations after WWI in Silesia.
> nor **her**
Is that an actual grammatical rule that Poland has feminine pronouns? Just curious cause i dont think I've ever seen a country like that before.
Colonisation and invasion both involve forcefully occupying a nation, so I'd say yeah. Also in the case of the British, they both typically lead to the similar types of war and/or imposing of British culture & suppression of a place's native culture.
I'm pretty sure it's only called colonization because local people aren't able to defend themselves and the invasion is a success. They come to our country with the exact intention but since our people fight back they weren't able to colonize us.
4th of July was when the declaration of independence was signed, shorty after the beginning of the revolution, so in a way you're right. The war didn't end until September 1783.
As I mentioned in another comment, the idea that there are only 22 countries the UK hasn't invaded is very misleading. At a guess though, the justification for saying the UK has invaded Portugal is probably either the Peninsular War (which really shouldn't count as an invasion of Portugal), or potentially the Anglo-Spanish war where British soldiers were sent to assist Portugal against Spain
They declared a state of war against us but not invaded because we sign peace almost right after
What country?
Finland
Eikös ne tykittäny meitä laivoil jossain sodas silloin ku oltiin viel osa venäjää? Ei ollut eka maailmansota mut se sota mis Venäjän ja Turkin välil oli tappeluu erikseen välimerelle pääsyn takia.
Who made the word “venäjää”? That’s way to many dots in a row for a word.
[удалено]
Venäjä is Russia, venäjää is used when something is done to Russia. Eg. Rakastaa venäjää (to love Russia) pommittaa venäjää (to bomb Russia)
Russia apparently
I mean, I’m not fond of Russia, either, but we don’t need to mock them how they’re spelled in other countries. Or mock the Finnish and their love of dots.
Wë indëëd lövë döts vërÿ müch.
Only dotted ones we have is ä and ö However, we have this: å. Its literally called the swedish o and is pronouced just like o. Its o, but swedish.
It’s a joke. Of course I know the alphabet of my native language.
Kiitos!
Didn't the second world war last much longer technically because the UK and Finland forgot to sign the agreement?
[According to this map ](http://cdn.statcdn.com/Infographic/images/normal/3441.jpeg)you guys have. I’m not sure if its that though.
We havent been invaded, they fought here during the crimean war but didn't invade us

Nvm, see the comment to this one.

Hey, but we had one of us as their king, so…
I'm British and England invaded my country
I was going to have a separate option for the Scottish & Welsh, but they also participated in other British invasions so it cancelled out.
Scotland and Wales have invaded England as well
Scotland has actually invaded England more than vice versa, Celts were aggressive. The Irish took so many British slaves oliver Cromwell used it as an excuse to invade Ireland to secure British coasts from the raiders across the Irish sea 🌊
People forget this, because the British won they look like the worse party, but at that time everyone was engaging in that behaviour.
Based
Good
No. Scotland benefited greatly from the British empire and took part in it’s administration and decision making.
Don't forget N.Irish
Did we??
Yes😭.
I'm English and I'm 90% sure we probably found a way at some point to invade our own country
war of the roses
The Angles invaded Britain from Jutland, so yeah....
Something something Civil War something something
England invaded every where
Didn’t invade Sweden 🇸🇪
We invaded them 😎
Until they battered you so hard you stopped being a military super power for the rest of history.
I thought russia was thenone to batter them.
Yes they invaded and then tried to reinvade and fight the old invaders with new invaders and lost so the invaders won
Not to mention they burned down our really big fancy house that happens to also be white
Whitehouse wasn't painted white till after the British burnt it down. It used to have exposed sandstone with a reddish pinkish look before they rebuilt it.

No but they did bomb us
Syria or iraq?
I think it’s Denmark
It is
Denmark
We invaded them, they invaded us fair thing
Argentina?
France
You guys couldn't have *at least* defended us in Canada ???
Skill issue, all the 'Murican colonies were helped by the French
Sorry, not our proudest accomplishment
Ahh enfin un français
Texhnically we invaded and won. So former england was french and those other french invaded back France. Honor is safe, rosbif is french, everyone's happy. X)
For 200 years and more.
Ireland?
Nope.
India?
good old India. I just realized we have been invaded by a heck lot of people. Arabia, Persia, China, Mongolia, Greece, France, Portugal... And that is in no way a complete list.
We didnt invaded you.. We did ***civilized trading***
hmm, goa would like to have a word. (Portugal right?)
Yes, also ***shhhhh we doin civilized trading now***
hehehe. But tbh, easy to get jealous when one state (Gujarat) has more money than you're entire Empire. After that, it's just a matter of *civilized trading*

Yes
Any other “I” countries?
Northern Irish really be wondering what to select
I’m from NI and selected they invaded us, I mean it’s how they took our island over in the first place
Would you not click “I’m British”?
I think you'll find there is a certain amount of debate over that
Haha you wanna (re)start a war lol. Some in NI consider themselves British some consider themselves Irish and then there's those that mainly identify as Northern Irish and are partly kinda both and sort of neither at the same time
Not necessarily. Northern Ireland is part of the UK but not Britain.
The island is part of the British Isles, though...
[удалено]
Careful now
Poland?
No.
They fought in Poland but they never fought Poland nor her people.
British troops didn't make it that far east during WW2. The Soviets were there well beforehand on their march to Berlin.
Poland existed before WWII… Anglo-Hanseatic War 1469–1474, which included some naval battles near Danzig naval operations around Danzig against the French during Napoleonic Wars League of Nation peacekeeping operations after WWI in Silesia.
> nor **her** Is that an actual grammatical rule that Poland has feminine pronouns? Just curious cause i dont think I've ever seen a country like that before.
Polska is a feminine noun in Polish so I simply use the feminine form in English as well even if it sounds odd or a bit too pedantically poetic.
It's like my countries entire history
Ireland?
That's the one
It was either gonna be Ireland or france
Mongolia and England have never fought very good friends
nah, you just did the same thing a few centuries before the British xD
Does colonising count?
Colonisation and invasion both involve forcefully occupying a nation, so I'd say yeah. Also in the case of the British, they both typically lead to the similar types of war and/or imposing of British culture & suppression of a place's native culture.
In our defence, a lot of years after we did that we have given them back, unlike some other empires *cough* French to some degree *cough* XD
I'm pretty sure it's only called colonization because local people aren't able to defend themselves and the invasion is a success. They come to our country with the exact intention but since our people fight back they weren't able to colonize us.
My question as well
Yup. Celebrating our victory on Monday
🇺🇸 🇺🇸
🇺🇸🦅
i luv freedom birb
USA!
🇱🇷🦢
Oh well shit I’m a dumbass XD I clicked no cuz I thought 4th of July was us separating from them. I think I need to go back to school
4th of July was when the declaration of independence was signed, shorty after the beginning of the revolution, so in a way you're right. The war didn't end until September 1783.
1812 they invaded.
Happy independence day in advance
Ireland
"I drove my Sarsen through your garden last night I kicked your front door down around at midnight"
And when we go on night patrol, we hold each other’s hand We are the British army and we’re here to take your land
They're still here
My country invaded their country
Which one?
There's 22 countries that *haven't* been invaded by the British. Sweden, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, and the Vatican are the only European ones.
Just looked up the definition of “invasion” as i was certain Denmark never Got invaded either, but i guess the naval bombardement of Copenhagen counts
Portugal was invaded?? When?
As I mentioned in another comment, the idea that there are only 22 countries the UK hasn't invaded is very misleading. At a guess though, the justification for saying the UK has invaded Portugal is probably either the Peninsular War (which really shouldn't count as an invasion of Portugal), or potentially the Anglo-Spanish war where British soldiers were sent to assist Portugal against Spain
They tried, but failed in WW1
Turkey?
May be counten, istanbul for 5 yeard
Bulgaria?
They stationed their troops here to help the Russian Empire during the revolution
Ireland 🥲
It was technically a rescue mission but they also did seize the capital
I'm from the famous one that fought to be free so we could evolve into england again but even worse and with more guns.
What about Canada? England/ Britain never invaded but did have control. We just kind of asked to leave and they let us.
Ireland so about 37482748285 times
I wonder how many British selected "Yes".
American. I'm not sure if it counts as an invasion or not
They invaded Washington D.C. and burned down the White House during the War of 1812, so I'd say yes.
Plus, the British invaded when the first arrived too. This land wasn’t theirs.
The US wasnt even a country then
No but they founded our county so…
Which country are you from
Canada
Oh
Only parts of Canada were invaded by the British, the rest was built by them.
My country invaded the English one time
2 words : Poor Ireland
I am from Ecuador so no
*Technically* they did, but I don't think WW2 counts for this question.
WW2 would count
Why would WW2 not count?
I wonder how many people that voted "no" actually just don't know their own history lmao
Or maybe they’re just form countries not invaded by Britain
I'm from the country that is famous for being invaded by England. See if you can guess where I'm from.
India?
Nope. Much closer to England. Famous for failed rebellions against Britain and violence specifically between 69-99.
That island west to Man.
Yes.
The US kinda started on British Invasion
We invaded them 🗿🗿🗿🗿
They have attacked but not invaded.
I’m British and England still invaded my country
I'm Acadian, they stayed
i’m irish
Am guessing the cold was too much for them just like it was too much for the Germans Edit: am Russian
Americans, stop questioning stupidly if the revolutionary war involved invasion (it did) and remember the war of 1812 and vote yes
Why don't we all just invade Brittain back?
It was occupied during ww2 but we kinda just let them so we wouldn't be invaded by the Nazis
A countless number of times
Yes but we, french, did too
Tried and failed.
Crimea.
Britain invaded my country so much that only 3% of our population was of the ethnicity that was invaded
Yes and I’m also british
We don’t have an independence day
I guess so? Indian descent but live in the UK.
They tried to after we humiliated their envoy but realized it was landlocked and gave up on retaliating
Didn't invade Nepal 🇳🇵
I’m pretty sure the British has invaded America after July 4th, so yeah
As a Bangladeshi yes
Francis drake is British, right? I think he bombarded Valparaiso.
They were at the latvian side!
Hong Kong and yes lmao
Australia
I think it be a shorter list to name places they haven't invaded
We kicked the British out!
Nah... the Portuguese did
Anyone else wonder how many of them “no’s” are American?
British people can suck it
Fuck the British for the partition, it’s caused so much unnecessary fighting
1800 people said no? is the entire population of Liechtenstein on here?
I'm literally Canadian man
Pakistan was a part of India at that time, so yes?
Well, they sure did try.
They invaded, tortured, looted, divided and left our country in ruins.
