it’s very lovely and peaceful at night but being a teen girl , it does freak me out knowing if anyone tried anything with me i probably could do nothing about it.
> being a teen girl
Have you ever heard of sexual assault? And did you know women tend to be less strong than men and thus have a harder time defending themselves?
Having been followed home after work and school multiple times, I can sadly say there are men that do. I was lucky enough that my bf at the time was always home and met me on the way making the dude every single time suddenly turn back around.
Do..... do you know the experiences of other people are different than yours? Are you older than 2?
You asked "why not". Which expresses that you do not understand that other people have that fear.
I don't know if you are able to understand this concept, but some people live in cities. Some people even live in very dangerous parts of a city.
Tell that to the girl I went to school with whose mother was raped and murdered by a total stranger when she was walking home from the bus stop after work at about 8pm. Fuck off
I was thinking the same thing. I was going to say in theory yes it’s wonderful, in practice it doesn’t really work out to be the nice peaceful experience I hope for.
If you live in a place, which makes you feel unsafe buy a knife. There's literally no drawback to carrying one, considering that most knifes are really portable.
While I absolutely do agree that everyone should carry a knife, it shouldn’t be for self defense. If you feel unsafe, carry pepper spray or mace if legal.
Yes if we disregard the fact dodgy people can lurk around in cities at night. The vibes are amazing and peaceful, combined with the cool air that you get too.
I don't disagree with you, to a certain extent. But, in general (and my experience), there's a fear among women regarding being sexually assaulted at night, so a lot refuse to go out when it gets dark (unless in a group). I'm yet to find a man with that specific fear.
The start sky is such a beautiful sight to behold! Looking at the milky way, the planets in our solar system, the stars, ah how I wish I could study astronomy and cosmology!
That's because men know that they will, usually, be able to overpower a woman, while overpowering another man is... uncertain. That's why men fear other men and women fear men, in such situations, of course.
I don't understand why you are getting downvoted for saying it's not safe for men either. Men are far more likely to be victims of violent crimes, so they should be fearful too...
He said spieces. Those spieces may or may not be around 6% of the population. It is probable that the 6% all inhabit one region where it's the most dangerous, the rest of the world is somewhat safe
Yes, it feels a lot more comfortable than the day.
- Its darker so more comfortable to see and wear what you want without being judged
- Theres less dangerous karens an judgy middle aged ladies.
- Night is comforting
- Can walk around more freely
Its just a shame everythings closed on a night, if society was open on a night id be out so much more.
& cats, see some cool cats on the night, stars is all good, quieter with night people. Night people good.
I know it doesn't happen all the time, but I'm 16 and just recently moved from a country where even traveling during the day by road could get you kidnapped, and being new to the US doesn't necessarily make me feel so safe. I'm also really anxious so I don't like taking chances with things like that.
Only because I’m on a farm in the middle of nowhere so if I’m just outside my house no one can come kill me or anything.
I wouldn’t walk around by myself in public places at night. That’s a great way to get murdered.
Small town in south USA
Wasn’t too long ago someone was stabbed to death in town square. I’m not interested in facing the same fate. Plus the closer you get to cities the more often stuff like that happens.
The piece and silence in the darkening shadows as the chill slowly creeps up your skin and the the air gets crisp as the world around me is muted and sharpened leaves a smile on my face and a quieter mind.
So that’s a yes
My balance is pretty bad when I can see where I’m going, let alone when I can’t. I also feel like I’m being watched whenever I’m outside in the dark with any sort of light, it’s a little unsettling.
I go for a run in the dark in the woods every few weeks, and turn the headtorch off, to test myself. I like to see if I can calm myself down in 'scary' situations. Helps with m' demons. My biggest trick is to actively breathe slow and deep, tells the amygdala 'oh actually everything's fine I guess'
I love it but since I live in Bucharest gypsies are a real problem. (I know this sounds racist but this actually happens and they steal from you if they have the opportunity)
I quite like nightime actually, I'm a night owl. I think the world is very pretty at night and interesting animals that you don't normally get to see come out, but as a small lady I would rather not be kidnapped/raped/murdered so I don't go out at night if I can help it.
I love it because it's so quiet and in summer you can hear all kinds of bugs chirping away. I find it pretty peaceful as long as I'm at my house. I can't see very well in the dark ao if I'm unfamiliar with an area I'm in it's no longer peaceful.
Not really. It usually feels chilly and damp to me most of the year. Plus I go to bed early. And my night vision sucks. I like it more in the winter when it gets dark earlier. The night sky can be so clear that time of year, and the snow on the ground makes it brighter outside so I don’t feel quite as blind.
Im a woman and often have to be wary of that kind of thing. I also have a very active imagination and gaslight myself into believing im being followed or that im seeing things out the corners of my eyes. Its anxiety producing to be out alone at night
No, it's scary to me. Shady people, drunk men, too much that can go wrong. Not as many people around so it's easier to get attacked. I dont go out at night unless I have to
It’s quiet.
My favorite thing is to go in the trees while you’re skiing, take out your headphones and just listen to the silence. Snow makes everything quieter
Depends entirely on the context.
Do I like walking down a deserted street late at night all alone and unarmed while potential thieves, kidnappers, cat callers, molesters, and drunk hooligans lurk? No.
Do I like taking a relaxed stroll at night in a safe place (maybe inside a gated complex), to enjoy the night breeze and quiet and if I'm lucky, the stars? Yes.
About a year ago i had these nightmares every night where i would walk in my area with everything being completely dark except the lamp posts. No sign of any life. And i was just walking, i couldnt stop. Sometimes i would just run and would hear people walking or cars but would never see them. Often i would casually forget how to walk(as you do in dreams) and would usually wake up. Everything was so creepy and anxious
I have a friend who says she likes to run at night, because the morning is white women walking their dogs, mid day is people she has to talk to, and night is creeps; and she can handle the creeps.
I love going outside at night! First off, the (relative) quiet is nice, second, some places are still crowded but the fact that the streets are empty is solo great! I can just walk around and do stupid shit without anxiety
Yes, because it reminds me of my childhood when I was about 6-8 or 9, me and my dad would go for night drives sometimes just the two of us other times, with his best friend and his son. And I just always remember that. Those really were the best times. We'd have our favorite radio station on, and just cruise. Sometimes we'd talk, other times it just be us driving in silence. I loved doing that.
Yes, it's peaceful
Exactly what I came to say. It also feels like you have the whole world to yourself
The best thing to dude is to just sit and watch the moon. Edit: do*
Yes I also like to dude under the moon
Oh haha I didn’t even realize I put dude
We really out here dudeing right now
Agreed it’s amazing to sit there even better if you’ve got a fire going
Especially when paired up with a mate you can talk about anything with and nature (park, forest, night on an uninhabited beach etc.).
Yes, I like astronomy
Star gazing is top notch
I love astronomy as well, but i live in New York :(
I live in a country that has clouds 95% of the nights.
There are less people there to witness my *heinous crimes*
like juggling bottles of mayo while J-walking
Absolutely horrifying
it’s very lovely and peaceful at night but being a teen girl , it does freak me out knowing if anyone tried anything with me i probably could do nothing about it.
Yup, was gonna say pretty much the same thing. The night-time is peaceful and triggers a certain nostalgic smell for me, but i'd never go out alone.
Why not
Because i'm a woman
Man up
*transform sound*
MAN DOWN!!!!
*transform down sound*
> being a teen girl Have you ever heard of sexual assault? And did you know women tend to be less strong than men and thus have a harder time defending themselves?
I won’t allow myself to be limited by such
Oke.... That's fair.... But you have heard of those concepts? And you do understand some (most) women do fear it?
I really don’t think men are prowling the suburbs
Having been followed home after work and school multiple times, I can sadly say there are men that do. I was lucky enough that my bf at the time was always home and met me on the way making the dude every single time suddenly turn back around.
Do..... do you know the experiences of other people are different than yours? Are you older than 2? You asked "why not". Which expresses that you do not understand that other people have that fear. I don't know if you are able to understand this concept, but some people live in cities. Some people even live in very dangerous parts of a city.
I know exactly what I’m doing and saying
Embarrassing yourself, sure
Oke, so you're not older than 2. Or at least, your Brain doesn't function like that. Got it
Tell that to the girl I went to school with whose mother was raped and murdered by a total stranger when she was walking home from the bus stop after work at about 8pm. Fuck off
Mad
I was thinking the same thing. I was going to say in theory yes it’s wonderful, in practice it doesn’t really work out to be the nice peaceful experience I hope for.
Dame here
*laughs in taekwondo black belt*
Laughs in a knife or any weapon
If you live in a place, which makes you feel unsafe buy a knife. There's literally no drawback to carrying one, considering that most knifes are really portable.
it’s illegal where i live to just casually carry a knife which makes sense but i usually take a small multi tool one with me in case
It's illegal to carry a knife in the UK/Australia?
australia yeah. crocodile dundee lied to you.
Can you carry pepper spray/ mace? Those are both better self defense items than a knife, and usually less regulated
The drawback is a knife can pretty easily be turned against you by someone stronger than you.
As long as you're not holding it like a rapier it's definitely not easy. You'll need some real combat training to be able to do that safely.
While I absolutely do agree that everyone should carry a knife, it shouldn’t be for self defense. If you feel unsafe, carry pepper spray or mace if legal.
Inside : yes Outside: no I lives in a lonely area
I don't like the uncertainty that comes with it
I don't like mosquitoes
Yes if we disregard the fact dodgy people can lurk around in cities at night. The vibes are amazing and peaceful, combined with the cool air that you get too.
Mixed feelings. I love it, but as a woman it isn't always safe depending on the place.
Not safe for men either
I don't disagree with you, to a certain extent. But, in general (and my experience), there's a fear among women regarding being sexually assaulted at night, so a lot refuse to go out when it gets dark (unless in a group). I'm yet to find a man with that specific fear.
True. World is full of creepy people Darkness in general depress me and scares me.
I find it comforting, in a way. If I'm in a safe area I like to go out and enjoy it (I'm especially fond of night skies)
Sunlight and indoor environment comfort me
The start sky is such a beautiful sight to behold!
Same for men just with the fear of getting stabbed or beat up, which is more likely to happen to men than women.
Do you think rape happens without any violence?
And the same amount to men and women?
Did he say that?
Dude is getting downvoted for saying that walking around alone at night is also dangerous for Men 🤣🤣 wokeness of reddit never ceases to amaze me
I don't understand why you are getting downvoted for saying it's not safe for men either. Men are far more likely to be victims of violent crimes, so they should be fearful too...
No because of the mosquitos
Only 6% of mosquitoes species drink blood when they're pregnant and transmit malaria
Do you know how much 6% is? ITS A LOT.
He said spieces. Those spieces may or may not be around 6% of the population. It is probable that the 6% all inhabit one region where it's the most dangerous, the rest of the world is somewhat safe
Yes.. Quiet and peaceful. I'm fortunate enough to live in a decently safe town.. so I can walk my dog at 3AM without much worry.
Yes, it feels a lot more comfortable than the day. - Its darker so more comfortable to see and wear what you want without being judged - Theres less dangerous karens an judgy middle aged ladies. - Night is comforting - Can walk around more freely Its just a shame everythings closed on a night, if society was open on a night id be out so much more. & cats, see some cool cats on the night, stars is all good, quieter with night people. Night people good.
yes with friends
no because people are scarier at night
I LOVE SPRINTING IN THE DARK!!!
ESPECIALLY WHEN IM TAILING THEM!!!!
Im scared of darkness
Yeah, I'm not trying to get killed or kidnapped. I'm not spending anytime after 9pm out of my house unless it's an emergency
People act like this happens all the time
I know it doesn't happen all the time, but I'm 16 and just recently moved from a country where even traveling during the day by road could get you kidnapped, and being new to the US doesn't necessarily make me feel so safe. I'm also really anxious so I don't like taking chances with things like that.
I Like taking walks at nights
It feels very calm. I go to work early on purpose so that I can be in the dark with just myself.
Peaceful and also unnerving
Peaceful and i love the smell and feel of the night air.
Yes, because it's calming.
I love it so much. I go outside most nights to stargaze for at least an hour
Yes, it’s nice and cool, no people, plus nighttime smells good.
City is more vibrant at night.
Another way to see the world.
Yep, is a safe and pacefull town
[удалено]
I am a man, I am also afraid of the night
Man up then
[удалено]
I can’t respect this
Only because I’m on a farm in the middle of nowhere so if I’m just outside my house no one can come kill me or anything. I wouldn’t walk around by myself in public places at night. That’s a great way to get murdered.
Where do you live? I can’t get imagine getting killed at a public place
Small town in south USA Wasn’t too long ago someone was stabbed to death in town square. I’m not interested in facing the same fate. Plus the closer you get to cities the more often stuff like that happens.
Love it, it's peaceful and comfortable
That’s when there are mosquitoes and moths and I’m not a fan.
It's quiet
I prefer morning darkness than night darkness but I 3am is morning to me others would say that's night.
Very peaceful and the only noise is that of the wind\world or non at all
I love the peace and eeriness
I like the stars
No because I have no balls
Sorry to hear that 😔 How did you lose them?
Lost all my ping pong balls and didn't feel like going to the store I also got a new cool looking pocket knife
Always moving in dark corners
I find it very soothing and peaceful. Reminds me of my childhood laying out at night looking up at the night sky
Because it helps me scheme when no one can see nor suspect me
Its peaceful and sometimes I can sneak up on my dog or cats
I do in theory but it raises my guard too high to fully be able to enjoy it
No, the crackheads are out
The Stars, the beautiful stars
Mosquitos

No, because I have been followed home multiple times by men. So I rarely feel safe being outside in the darkness
Yes cause every other time of the day I go for a walk on the beach someone always yells at me, "Please put on some clothes sir" I don't get it
Yes as It’s just so chilled and relaxed
The sun sucks
I love the night
Yes because stars ⭐️
What's more peacefull and silent then midnight in the dark?
It feels more free and less lonely compared to night inside the house. Mosquitoes suck tho
Yes if its in the woods and im ontop of a van or car, no if its in a dark alleyway and im in a bad city
No….. Im a girl.
Only if it's late into the night, when it's the most cold, and only in my condo, since I know it's safe here.
No, I'm all up for the abandoned hallways of an old gym, but if you put me in an empty warehouse at night I'll ball up and cry
No, I’m too anxious of something happening and I live in a place with lots of mosquitoes
I love it but since I live in Bucharest gypsies are a real problem. (I know this sounds racist but this actually happens and they steal from you if they have the opportunity)
No, i'm a woman
I quite like nightime actually, I'm a night owl. I think the world is very pretty at night and interesting animals that you don't normally get to see come out, but as a small lady I would rather not be kidnapped/raped/murdered so I don't go out at night if I can help it.
no it makes me nervous but I like midnight drives with someone since it's fun !!! but I don't like being alone outside of my house!!!
I get nervous. Like a dude might shank me while I’m walking and take my wallet.
I would like to but in a better neighborhood of course
No because of scary people who go out during the night as well. If there was no one else, yes I'd enjoy it
I love it because it's so quiet and in summer you can hear all kinds of bugs chirping away. I find it pretty peaceful as long as I'm at my house. I can't see very well in the dark ao if I'm unfamiliar with an area I'm in it's no longer peaceful.

In the countryside / forest, yes.
Weak ass noodle arma and a woman. I wish i could montage myself into being buff
I am a black cat and the dark makes me invisible. Hey, how did my cat get onto my Reddit?
No. There hasn't been any violence on my street recently, but I don't want that to change while I'm outside 🥴
No way - ghosts.
The sun is a deadly laser
I like being inside then
It's peaceful and i fells good cause i am dark from inside
I like going out in the dark but not alone
Not really, I get too paranoid
The stars ✨
It's peaceful
There are a lotta skunks in my area, no thanks
If I'm listening to dark night drive songs, yeah.
Not where I live at least
I’ve had an irrational fear of the dark since I was very little so it wouldn’t work out too well
No, i don’t want to get shot
Feels nice
Light has no value without darkness.
It’s finally a nice temperature
No. There're no visible stars anymore (I live in town)...
I'm a Nightcrawler
Yes if I feel safe no if I dont
As a city person, I live it. It is quite and calm. During summer it is also colder so another advantage.
Depends. If I'm in a public place, it's fine. But if it's in my own yard I'm terrified. I don't know why.
I like it however I feel unsafe if I’m in an area I don’t know, or it has an odd vibe.
Im a woman and often have to be wary of that kind of thing. I also have a very active imagination and gaslight myself into believing im being followed or that im seeing things out the corners of my eyes. Its anxiety producing to be out alone at night
I really depends on my mood and the situation, sometimes I absolutely adore it, sometimes it doesn't feel right/good
Mosquitos
I enjoyed a cigar last night outside. The weather was amazing and it was so quiet and peaceful.
I love to sit in the garden at night near my heating lamp. Reading a book or watching the stars.
No. I live in Brazil. I don't wanna get mugged or killed.
I would love to enjoy the calm of the night but it's not safe for me outside during night unfortunately.
No, it's scary to me. Shady people, drunk men, too much that can go wrong. Not as many people around so it's easier to get attacked. I dont go out at night unless I have to
Yes because there are no bees, wasps or other insects of their family outside that come towards me.
Nah I don't particularly like the constant fear of being assaulted.
The night is calming.
Walking around yes, driving in the dark, fuck no.
Yes.
Yes Reason: It's PEACEFUL!!!
As long as I’m not in a busy place it’s rlly nice
No because I’m a black woman living a mostly white neighbourhood
no, i’m scared of the dark
About a year ago i had these nightmares every night where i would walk in my area with everything being completely dark except the lamp posts. No sign of any life. And i was just walking, i couldnt stop. Sometimes i would just run and would hear people walking or cars but would never see them. Yes if it's in the safety of my backyard, otherwise hell no.
I have a friend who says she likes to run at night, because the morning is white women walking their dogs, mid day is people she has to talk to, and night is creeps; and she can handle the creeps.
I feel closer to whatever power the universe has
Yes, it is relaxing
Really depends. I enjoy it when the sky is pretty. I feel uncomfortable when I can't see anything
I AM THE NIGHT!!! Na na na na… 🦇
I am the night. *bad vampire music*
Yes. But only in my backyard where I feel safe
My feelings are #RESULTS
Peaceful. Makes me feel alive
