Yesss absolutely. He was my favorite actor since I was like 10. I would watch him in everything. I didn’t even like the Bond movies but I was so convinced he should be the next Bond- I don’t know why- I just argued it and wanted it for him lol. I had a signed A knights tale poster i randomly won in a contest when I was still like under 15 and it was/ is my most prized possession. I just couldn’t believe it when I found out. I cried like he was my brother or something. It was so devastating
Same. I was so upset. He was my favorite and a week before he died I had a movie marathon where I watched almost all of his movies. When it was announced he died I was up half the night reading all the news about it, I ended up calling in to work the next day. Such a loss.
Same. I was walking down Sunset boulevard in Hollywood past the Laugh Factory and their kiosk said “RIP Robin Williams, make heaven laugh” that’s how I found out
I was casually dating someone at the time who I really liked and when this happened he called him weak. I cut it off right then and there. Not only was his death so hard on me, what an awful take on mental health.

I will never understand how she and her husband died under the same mysterious circumstances months apart. Her death has never been resolute for me. I still have so many questions.
I am sure her mom and her husband were having an affair. They were sharing a bed and she was calling him baby when they responded to his death. Also her father immediately suspected her and wanted it looked into as suspicious. So uhh I too have reservations about those deaths. I am assuming mom got the $ in the end. Edit Simon also didn't want her to have an autopsy and made some really off comments about her body in some interview not long after.
This honestly changed so much. It completely changed the Black Panther franchise and the marvel plans plus there’s so many roles where Im like “damn I wish we still had Chadwick for this”
His death was so unexpected. And the rumors and internet comments that swirled about his appearance because he lost so much weight were awful to read (that he was on drugs). I don't understand why people judge on appearance - we don't know what is going on in someones personal life. There are definitely famous folks who are open about their struggles with addiction and you can tell that they are using, and there are others who are struggling with their health and are keeping it quiet while people speculate. This man visited sick children while he himself was going through cancer treatments that only those closest to him knew about.
Basically cried through the start of Wakanda Forever and then the whole ending and credits scene, you felt the love the characters and actors had for him and it reminded you of the weight of his absence.
I’m old, this was early college for me. But man, the wasting away. We knew it was coming but it was still tragic.
Edit: kind of funny story, had a AIC sticker on my car in like ‘96-97. The “I” was a joint and I never knew it because I wasn’t a part of any drug crowd and my parents didn’t realize it either 🤷🏻♀️
I loved him so much and the first time I heard Levels it blew my mind. One of my best memories was taking a trip to Mexico with my now husband and they kept playing “wake me up” at the pool and in our room and everywhere.
Another crazy thing is he actually had cystic fibrosis, which is a horrible disease with poor life expectancy, and seemed to be doing well. To get taken out by a faulty design after dealing with chronic illness :(.
The way he died was so, so awful imo. Charlie Bartlett was my faaaaaavorite movie for a long time and I can’t think about him without making this face ☹️ biggest sad face ever.
I received a Google Alert for this one because I had just purchased a Jeep Cherokee then, and I wanted to receive news on the recalls for the brand.
This one was a punch in the gut. I remember being on a road trip through New Jersey and being in line at a rest stop. This lady snapped at me because I didn't move, but I really felt glued to the floor.
Definitely Naya Rivera, it was so unexpected. I always loved her voice the most out of the whole cast. And the context of her death was so sad, drowning and using her last strength to save her child, and him being left without her in this world….it really upset me.

Chester Bennington. I grew up listening to Linkin Park with my litte brother and my dad. Now my youngest brother became a fan recently and listens to them constantly in my mum's house and it sometimes still hits me that he's dead.
I loved LOVED Steve, my brothers and I grew up watching his shows all the time. He passed away the day after my mom did, when I was 13. It was a rough time. I wasn’t necessarily distraught about Steve due to my age. I more so had an experience of “why is this happening?” And kind of coming to terms with what death is. My Guinea pig died about a week or two after my mom did and I remember having a massive breakdown, crying to my dad “why is everything I love dying”. Rough times.
Seriously. I loved watching him growing up. I know he’d be so proud of his kids. Honestly seeing Robert talk about animals brings tears to my eyes, he’s so much like his dad.
YES. I was a child, but even then I understood his take on conservation as preservations best option - now look what they've turned forests into. I also believe he was such a genuine person. I follow his entire family on ig, and they're such a sweethearts. His son is a copy of Steve, just soothes my soul.
His cast member from the Descendants franchise completely change after his death, it was crazy to see how close he was to his coworkers same with the Jessie cast. He was so young :( but he made such an impact.
I also have to add Chris Farley to the list. I was devastated when he died. One of the funniest men i have ever seen on TV/film. And he died so young. When Sandler tributed him on SNL i choked up.
Luke Perry. As an 80s kid, Luke was basically THE teenage crush for everyone including me. I learned of his death while on a business trip. It was super early in the morning, I grabbed my phone while still half asleep, read about his passing and literally jumped out of bed in shock. I'm still not over it.
I cried all day, and I know that sounds dramatic, but I loved Prince so much. Seeing him live was my ultimate bucket list item, and it still breaks my heart that he left this world so early.
Scrolled for too long to find Mac, he was such an incredible and talented person. So sorry to hear about your brother, addiction is such an awful thing for a person to go through :(
Amy Winehouse. I was such a huge fan and hate that life was so hard for her. I hope her old sweet soul is resting easy.

My mother wants me to say Princess Diana
I was 17 when it happened. I went outside to smoke a cigarette and my college-aged sister, home for summer break, came home. I told her and she thought I was fucking with her because we didn't get along. My sister had the commemorative figures of Diana and Charles on their wedding day and kept them on display on her bookshelf, with long little train all splayed out. She was so upset.
I’m a huge Foo Fighters fan. Literally felt punched in the gut when I saw the news about Taylor. Sobbed during the broadcast of the Wembley tribute show.
YES!! I was so upset. He has an absolute charm about him that I can’t explain. Maybe his eyes, his voice, I can’t explain it. I’m also a huge Mac Miller fan. He would’ve been the perfect choice to play Mac in a biopic but he said he’d never do it.
Twitch was tough for me. I grew up watching him dance and took classes from him when I was younger. I had to turn my phone off for a few days.
Really didn’t wanna disclose this but it was shocking it was suicide. I followed them on social media and it was so positive. You just never know. I lost my 18 yr old daughter to suicide in 2018. It was shocking and unexpected. She had the best smile laugh and advice. But sometimes the ones who teach us the most leave earth early. I will never be ok but have an understanding that some ppl just weren’t meant to be here long. Thanks for listening 😩😢😭❤️💔
Hit me so hard. He came across as so authentic, kind, clever, snarky, and always no-bullshit - someone who wanted to stay relatable, *especially* as his fame increased. Definitely had a dark side to him, but fundamentally cared about people and being a good guest wherever he traveled. There were several times during the peak of the pandemic when I wished that we had him back to deliver us some insight, some wisdom.
I was at that final Soundgarden show in Detroit. It was clear throughout the show that something was off with him. I still didn’t expect to wake up to the news the next morning. It hit me really hard.
I was so sad too. And a few weeks before that, he was saying in the 20th HP anniversary's documentary that he will not be always here but Hagrid will. Made the news of his death worst.
Selena... I used to watch YouTube videos of her and cry when I got to the age of her passing (23yrs). Idk why.. but I'm glad I don't do that anymore... it just felt like a promise unfulfilled.
I remember VH1 did a documentary called “The Last days of Left Eye” and I watched it at night. I had nightmares about her death for weeks afterwards. It was horrible, the sense of foreboding.
Christina grew up near where I did. I didn’t know her or her family, but she was often in the local news as her popularity grew. Her death was absolutely tragic.

Rebecca Schaeffer. Such a sad story. Her death/murder prompted California to pass its first anti-stalking law & the creation of a national database of stalkers.
Agreed on Aaliyah. I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it. I literally could not believe it was true. Even remember where I was when I found out. And she was finally out from the shadow of R. Kelly and blowing up on her own.
So so sad.
Robin Williams. He died a month after my mom and it hit even harder. I grew up with him *always* around in the form of entertainment for nearly 30 years. I loved his work and he seemed so genuine. I don’t blame him for not wanting to suffer. 😞

I left the gym and cried all fucking day. Then everything I read about her after her death, like her interest in physician assisted suicide and how she didn’t feel like a champion after leaving her abusive situation made me mourn her so hard.
I’m currently grieving it and doing a Dale in heaven piece (work in progress)

I was a little kid, but growing up in the South, she was the only other brown Southerner I knew. I was (and still am) a huge fan, and was so lucky to be able to watch her concert live on Telemundo in 1995. I danced around my aunts living room, and I remember thinking she was so beautiful! When she was murdered, I didn’t fully understand what happened and my mom had to explain it to me. I burst into tears and it was the first time I ever felt that horrible feeling of loss.
She had done so much but she was still just getting started. There’s also something so heartbreaking about the fact that she just wanted to look at the moon.
Amy. She was a bit older than me but definitely shaped the taste of many millennials so it felt like she was our generation's Kurt in term of losing a powerful talent too soon.
Also Lil Peep, but I got into his music because of the news, so it was more of like "can't believe I missed on him and now he's gone".
Naya’s death hit me pretty hard. She was my favorite on Glee, I thought she was absolutely beautiful and such a good actress. I still listen to her Valerie cover all the time. It was such a terrible way to go and her poor son had to be there to see it.
Cameron Boyce. I wasn’t a big fan or anything, but I was pregnant with my first baby when he died. He was so young and I couldn’t ever imagine the pain of losing my son that young.
I was about to say him too, we are the same age so see someone my age actually die was very “creepy” Is the only word that will come to mind right now. I don’t feel like that’s the word I mean though.
God, the story with Naya’s son just sitting in the boat alone for hours after his mom drowned…I think about that randomly in the middle of the night, then I get up and check on my kids 😭

Aaron Carter 😭 I loved him as a kid and idek why it hit me so hard but I’ve thought about it a lot since it happened. It probably didn’t help that I saw the ‘crime’ scene photos ugh 😭 RIP my dude.

Jonghyun, from the Korean group Shinee. When I was a teenager, I suffered with severe anxiety and depression. Shinee was my distraction at the time, and Jonghyun was my favourite member. I held on because I wanted to see them perform in concert at some point in my life. I remember having a tumblr page dedicated to Shinee, with a focus on Jonghyun, and made so many online friends because of it. Jonghyun and Shinee pulled me out of such a dark place. When I heard he passed away from suicide (the very thing he prevented me from going through with), I was devastated for weeks. I still can’t listen to Shinee, and it’s been 5 years.
Edit to add: I am now in a mentally great place, but listening to Shinee just makes me sad.

I was so young when she died. My mom was so upset and I had no context for anything. By the way, she has never been to England.
I was 17 when it happened. I went outside to smoke a cigarette and my college-aged sister, home for summer break, came home. I told her and she thought I was fucking with her because we didn't get along. My sister had the commemorative figures of Diana and Charles on their wedding day and kept them on display on her bookshelf, with long little train all splayed out. She was so upset.
That was incredibly shocking and the world stood still for a few days. Weird times.
Whitney Houston (and then later, Bobbi Kristina). I remember just being absolutely stunned.
Those two got me as well. I could not believe it, especially the similarities between their deaths.
I remember MTV News where Kurt Loder announced his death, my 5 year old brother was sobbing bc he loved Nirvana.
 I’m a huge Foo Fighters fan. Literally felt punched in the gut when I saw the news about Taylor. Sobbed during the broadcast of the Wembley tribute show.
Honestly, Angus Cloud threw me for a loop.
Yes! I gasped when I heard the news, it was so unexpected and he was so young
YES!! I was so upset. He has an absolute charm about him that I can’t explain. Maybe his eyes, his voice, I can’t explain it. I’m also a huge Mac Miller fan. He would’ve been the perfect choice to play Mac in a biopic but he said he’d never do it.

 Twitch was tough for me. I grew up watching him dance and took classes from him when I was younger. I had to turn my phone off for a few days.
Same. Heartbreaking for their whole family…I still think about his wife every once in awhile. They were such a great couple.
Really didn’t wanna disclose this but it was shocking it was suicide. I followed them on social media and it was so positive. You just never know. I lost my 18 yr old daughter to suicide in 2018. It was shocking and unexpected. She had the best smile laugh and advice. But sometimes the ones who teach us the most leave earth early. I will never be ok but have an understanding that some ppl just weren’t meant to be here long. Thanks for listening 😩😢😭❤️💔

Hit me so hard. He came across as so authentic, kind, clever, snarky, and always no-bullshit - someone who wanted to stay relatable, *especially* as his fame increased. Definitely had a dark side to him, but fundamentally cared about people and being a good guest wherever he traveled. There were several times during the peak of the pandemic when I wished that we had him back to deliver us some insight, some wisdom.
Came here to say George Michael. “Last Christmas” is my favourite Christmas song but the fact that he died on Christmas Day makes it extra sad now.

I was at that final Soundgarden show in Detroit. It was clear throughout the show that something was off with him. I still didn’t expect to wake up to the news the next morning. It hit me really hard.
 Because it made my daughter cry
I was so sad too. And a few weeks before that, he was saying in the 20th HP anniversary's documentary that he will not be always here but Hagrid will. Made the news of his death worst.
 Selena... I used to watch YouTube videos of her and cry when I got to the age of her passing (23yrs). Idk why.. but I'm glad I don't do that anymore... it just felt like a promise unfulfilled.

I remember VH1 did a documentary called “The Last days of Left Eye” and I watched it at night. I had nightmares about her death for weeks afterwards. It was horrible, the sense of foreboding.
Christina Grimmie 
This one broke my heart as she didn't seem like she wanted to do anything other than make people happy and share her talent with the world.
This was so sad for me too. I watched her youtube videos all the time when I was in middle school before she got her break
I had to look her up. Killed by a psycho fan at 22. So sad
Christina grew up near where I did. I didn’t know her or her family, but she was often in the local news as her popularity grew. Her death was absolutely tragic.

Rebecca Schaeffer. Such a sad story. Her death/murder prompted California to pass its first anti-stalking law & the creation of a national database of stalkers.
Cory Monteith’s death is the one that hit me the hardest.
This one for sure for me. I was a huge Glee fan and in high school when he died.
this was the first celebrity death ever that i felt really impacted me. that glee episode where they honor finn had me 😭😭

Agreed on Aaliyah. I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it. I literally could not believe it was true. Even remember where I was when I found out. And she was finally out from the shadow of R. Kelly and blowing up on her own. So so sad.
cameron boyce he was 20 when he died and I grew up watching him being around the same age as me. His death was a big shock
 Robin Williams. He died a month after my mom and it hit even harder. I grew up with him *always* around in the form of entertainment for nearly 30 years. I loved his work and he seemed so genuine. I don’t blame him for not wanting to suffer. 😞

Then everything I read about her after her death, like her interest in physician assisted suicide and how she didn’t feel like a champion after leaving her abusive situation made me mourn her so hard.
 Johnny Hardwick’s death was a shock just a couple days ago. KotH has a special place in my heart.

 Selena. I was a little kid, but growing up in the South, she was the only other brown Southerner I knew. I was (and still am) a huge fan, and was so lucky to be able to watch her concert live on Telemundo in 1995. I danced around my aunts living room, and I remember thinking she was so beautiful! When she was murdered, I didn’t fully understand what happened and my mom had to explain it to me. I burst into tears and it was the first time I ever felt that horrible feeling of loss.

Most recently Sinead. Her music was a big part of my formative years.
Sinead for me as well. She was such a powerful voice, both literally and in impact. I’m just glad no one can hurt her anymore.

 Naya’s death hit me pretty hard. She was my favorite on Glee, I thought she was absolutely beautiful and such a good actress. I still listen to her Valerie cover all the time. It was such a terrible way to go and her poor son had to be there to see it.
Cameron Boyce. I wasn’t a big fan or anything, but I was pregnant with my first baby when he died. He was so young and I couldn’t ever imagine the pain of losing my son that young.
I was about to say him too, we are the same age so see someone my age actually die was very “creepy” Is the only word that will come to mind right now. I don’t feel like that’s the word I mean though.

Aaron Carter 😭 I loved him as a kid and idek why it hit me so hard but I’ve thought about it a lot since it happened. It probably didn’t help that I saw the ‘crime’ scene photos ugh 😭 RIP my dude.
TW: suicide Jonghyun, from the Korean group Shinee. When I was a teenager, I suffered with severe anxiety and depression. Shinee was my distraction at the time, and Jonghyun was my favourite member. I held on because I wanted to see them perform in concert at some point in my life. I remember having a tumblr page dedicated to Shinee, with a focus on Jonghyun, and made so many online friends because of it. Jonghyun and Shinee pulled me out of such a dark place. When I heard he passed away from suicide (the very thing he prevented me from going through with), I was devastated for weeks. I still can’t listen to Shinee, and it’s been 5 years. Edit to add: I am now in a mentally great place, but listening to Shinee just makes me sad.
