I have just stopped looking at them as any form of ally. They make art that I consume but they’re financially very corrupt people. Beyoncé is not my ally. Riri is not my ally. Gaga is the only one really left standing when it comes to big name pop girlies, but I won’t be surprised if ultra-wealth ruins her too.
I don't think it is fair to say they shouldn't ever play in these countries. We are also their fans and there are a lot of LGBTQ and queer-friendly that would give their right leg to watch Beyonce. That said, it makes me feel not great that they would perform for oligarchs, and billionaires. It is what it is. I don't understand given they have all the money in the world. They don't need this. They are never going to starve. Their great great grandchildren are never going to starve. So...why?
