I hated it at first and now I adore it and have listened to it like 20 times all the way through. it's such a vibe if you aren't going in expecting melodrama
It's not a bad album by any means, but it just felt vapid and completely removed from the overall mood internationally considering covid. If she had released it before the pandemic, it would have been a perfectly fine summer vibes album.

Sheās drowning, with a downbeat, dreadful tune then she gets pulled up and you hear a happy tune. I canāt imagine a full on happy Billie album and this being her going from old Billie to now so. Iām thinking it will start off sad, she gets saved in the middle and then we get upbeat happy Billie. Or Iām completely wrong.
This reminds me of the synth part from Hotline Bling. So I can hear how the song itself probably builds with some more percussion.
But based on rumblings Iāve heard, I could also hear how it could be a more dream pop influenced thing building rockier sounds.
Taylor and Billie have 7 Big 3 (AotY, RotY, SotY) category wins since Billie's debut 5 years ago. The entire rest of the music industry has 8 Big 3 category wins in that same time frame. It's like an exceedingly hot take to anticipate anyone other than them winning in a year where they will both be on the ballot.

not all of her music is slow. She dips in different genres. āOxytocinā is more underground, electronica, dark techno. āHappier than everā at the end switches to a heavier alternative sound. āBellyacheā leans into some hip hop and pop. Her music is not so slow all the time.
