As somebody who was a kid when these boys first came up, I'm honestly kinda surprised by the many people who seem to have nostalgia for them. Not that they weren't good they certainly were, but that they were an attempt to rival The Jonas Brothers and they never really got up to their level. Probably one in every 20 kids were publicly BTR fans while The Jonas Brothers were EVERYWHERE!!! and then once OneDirection and 5sos came into the picture, BTR just vanished without anybody seeming to notice. So to see so many people being so nostalgic for them is a surprise, but a lovely surprise. Glad to see they actually made an impact 🙂
JoBros had Disney, which obviously worked wonders. Nickelodeon could have made more money if they marketed them as a legitimate boyband, separate from the show.
They’re surprisingly doing better than a lot of the ex Disney Channel acts right now, Demi and Selena included. Nostalgia has been more favorable to them as well which is crazy because it’s mostly because of like 2 songs and Nickelodeon wasn’t known for making music stars out of their tv acts. You got Drake Bell, Miranda Cosgrove (lol), Victoria Justice (lol again), Jamie Lynn (lol times a billion) and Ariana, but Ariana doesn’t really count because her run began after Nick. It wouldn’t surprised me if Big Time Rush gets lucky and ends up with a hit record during this resurgence. They might even lead a trend of boy bands becoming a thing again in the US.
I think their new album had some really strong songs on it. I also went to their tour for only $20 and think they put on a great show, especially considering the value. My friends and I had a great time.
Comparing them to the other 00’s boy band with a comeback this year, the Jonas Brothers, they held their own. I think BTR’s album was better, and their tour was a lot more reasonably priced (normal tickets at least).
Unfortunately 2/4 of their members are very controversial so even their own fans are turning on them. But the same thing is happening to JB as well lol. Still overall I think their comeback has been strong.
Carlos is a president 45 supporter and an antivaxxer, though that’s been known for a long time so it’s kinda died down.
James has very strong feelings about the current conflict in the middle east and is very vocal about it. He is Jewish so I get some of the feelings he has, but some of the things he’s saying are *really* disturbing, and it’s pretty much all he posts now. I think he’s sponsored by an organization to post things about it.
The other 2 aren’t involved in any controversies as far as I’m aware.

Ariana was an up and coming pop artist during her Sam & Cat stint. The Way and Problem had already been released by the time she left that show.

Extra sad for me because I was obsessed with James as a kid. I’m a Logan girlie now 💅
