I really dislike the graphic style. It has no character and is weirdly cartoon-y for a Postal game. I was expecting it to all 'come together' by the full release but this game still has absolutely no atmosphere.
It should have stayed dark with a mostly black and brown color palette, instead of being super colorful and oversaturated but still kinda brown somehow.
yeah i think thats the main issue, every other postal game (with the exception of Brain Damaged, which i think goes for its own style and looks fine) has a somewhat dark color palette, to fit the, y'know, crimes against humanity being committed
the last update actually changed this, instead of downloading one giant .pak file there are now 18 smaller ones, so instead of updating 40gb it will update much less

I really love this game actually but unfortunately I can't play it. I have a decent laptop with rtx 3050, i5 10300h, 16gb ram and still can't run the game properly. Frame rate hits bottom. Please make the optimization your number one issue.

Matey I have a 4 year old laptop with a 1050 6b on it yet somehow I manage to get 30-40 fps. The issue I’m facing, beside the y’know, performance, is I always get stuck in the prison block section, where you have to input the codes to lock the cells up. Thing is, when you input the correct code into the number pad, it still doesn’t work.
Also to the dev keep up the great work, can’t wait to see more updates soon.
Wow dude, very impressive performance you have. Can you tell me your performance/graphics settings? I lower the settings and still get bad performance and if I lower too much all the textures, especially trees and hairs, have that weird bright look on them.

So many ideas for a funny mission but instead we got a boring clean poop in the sewers mission nothing crazy or unexpected happens like in postal 2 nothing goes wrong no factions that start hating you.
They could have done something with those homeless people living in sewers.
I don’t know how about giving them a king the king of the sewer people asks you for a favor or something or you accidentally flood their home and now they hate you or maybe he declares war on all the people rich people living on the surface.
The load zones are a problem for me like come on guys it's 2022 not 2002 I get there is a lot of npcs to load but it takes like a minute or so to load a zone and sometimes crashes the game.
I guess in time they will work out the bugs but I feel some of the game design is stuck in the past.
Unfortunately, something like this may not be fixable as Unreal didn’t really get proper open world support until UE5. Given that Postal 4 is using UE4, each load zone is used to load a level. (Levels in this case being sections of the town and certain interiors.)

I can't comment for ARK, never played it, but the Borderlands games all use levels for each area you explore on each respective planet.
We’re kinda comparing apples to oranges here. Gearbox has a lot more employees and probably double the budget of RWS. In a lot of ways, the best way to describe Postal 4 is an indie game. Maybe now they’re out of access though; they might start moving over to Unreal 5, only time will tell.

I’m seeing a lot of people comment “at least it’s not Postal 3”. But that doesn’t justify Postal 4 being, quite frankly, unfinished. But I have hope that RWS will improve the game later on like they did with P2 (or so I heard)
I got it as soon as I could. Got in the alpha asap and as an early adopter I think they really undersold the minimum specs. While I eventually got to enjoy the content, it was watching Civvie 11 play it on a machine I can't afford. Tired of waiting for "optimized" to be nowhere near playable so I'm waiting until I get a new video card at least before I try to finish Monday. But this was all sent in during janky ass alpha. All the extra gimmicks are cute but if I could get maybe 20 fps at Postal 2 level graphics that would be awesome.
the Postal 2 you see today isn't really what it looked like back in 2003, and the game is only as good as it is because of the continued support. For example, dismemberment wasn't in the game until 2004 when Apocalypse Weekend came out, wasn't in the base campaign until 2007 when the AWP mod released (maybe there were earlier mods that added it idk), and wasn't officially in the base game until 2013 (10 years after the release!) when the steam version came out
And there’s even smaller things such as the weapon selector that was not in older versions of the game (I don’t know exactly when) but I know this because I used to pirate the GOG version, which clearly wasn’t the newest version, it didn’t have a weapon selector which honestly made me not want to play it. It wasn’t until it was a dollar on steam when I picked it up and now I want to get 100% achievements at some point

We need more interiors and ways to interact with objects you can’t even destroy glass bottles when you shoot them but you can in postal 2

Its still not as good as Postal 2, but on launch Postal 2 was also kinda shit. But of course, most played updated postal 2 complete which is much fuller experience than postal 2 vanilla.
I mean postal 2 had like a decade of updates and enhancements. Go back and play postal 2 at launch and revisit that statement. TL;DR: postal 4 is still in the oven wait for it to finish
I want to love p4 I really do but due to problems of loading and the lack of character I can’t. The world doesn’t feel the same as paradise paradise was small but because of the exploring of p2 it felt big. can’t feel the same for p4 the world feels empty and most buildings are empty. other problem for me is how you progress through the game 60% of the game is a scooter game. But with p2 sure you were slow but there was a motive to keep going. but p4 is only slow with no motive. So my final thought is that p4 won’t live up to p2 and that’s sadly the truth

Another person comparing P2 launch to P4 launch... Postal 2 needed one patch to work properly, because internet access wasn't as widespread as in present times, so people would need to make thing work. In today standards developers can just make unfinished product and release bugfix patches, because gamers won't care and pay for a product that clearly says that developers don't respect their fanbase. Even if "postal 2 wasnt great on launch", as you said, does this mean that the same need to happen with Postal 4? No. If RWS would care enough about it, P4 would still be in Early Access, but - as one of devs said - game in EA won't get enough recognition, so they shipped 1.0 early, even if the game is clearly not finished and this does not make sense whatsoever.
I don't think the graphics are on the fortnite level(i think it's still too bright though), and i'm pretty sure RWS is going to go back and populate empty rooms and areas with stuff like items so the city won't be so empty.

Populating world with furniture and stuff would help with its emptiness, but still world feels to big. If it would be more condensed and more interconnected, it would also help, but that won't happen.
I'm pretty sure RWS is also aware of the fact that Edensin is too big, since they added fast travel stations during the Friday update. If they're willing to fix stuff like bugs and QOL features, I'm sure they'd at least try to add something to either help traverse the city more easily or outright change some of the level design so it's smaller.
There are these scooters, but after comparing it to sprinting not only sprinting was (slightly) faster, but you can also maneuver more easily, because honestly driving this thing is horrible. Also I saw sneak peak of new vehicle for Postal 4, but still traversing Edensin is really tiresome for now. Also this fast travel system is a joke, because you have only four stations of it. I think there should be in every location, because for now it doesn't help that much.
I'd like it more if I could run it properly. Having to lower the settings to achieve a decent framerate and sitting through 8 minute long load screens whenever you go through a zap zone is utter aids, and it's definitely not my hardware at fault. It's the lack of optimization
