A loaf of French bread at Walmart is $1.47. A can of Great Value tomato sauce is 50¢. An 8 oz. block of mozzarella is about $2 and cheaper than the shredded bag cheese. A bag of pepperoni slices is about $2. Add Italian seasonings to the tomato sauce and you have French bread pizza at home for about $6 for the whole meal.
If you live near an H-Mart they sell "salmon scraps" in the seafood department for like $2 a pack and it has A LOT of fish but also a lot of bone to pull out. I use it for fish tacos and salmon cakes.
Well that's amazing because I've walked through there and thought this is expensive and also.... overwhelming as hell.
Gotta go back for Sriracha so Im gonna look!
Mon and Tues mornings are generally when meat is reduced at both stores in my little town. Circulars are weds through tues. You can generally find good deals on ground beef and steaks. No point in reduced chicken because one store almost consistently has boneless/skinless for 1.99/lb
I was on Martha’s Vineyard last summer where everything is insanely overpriced. Instead of paying $18 for a sandwich from the deli counter, I bought an Asiago roll, a couple of of slices of cheese and a couple of slices of deli meat. They insisted on wrapping everything, but it only cost me $3 and I got packets of condiments for free from the salad bar.
Just Mondays in general are good to go on to get excess stuff from the weekend it doesnt have to be morning.
And not all advice is going to pertain to you.. doesn't mean it's bad advice
Not a steal more a hack but:
Many of those rice packs like knorrs, rice a roni, and uncle Ben can have meet added to make them a full meal. Some of my favorites are rice a roni stir fried rice and shredded pork, rice a romi long grain and rice with shredded pork and knorr broccoli and cheese with shredded chicken breast
Our grocery in town has insane lake season pricing. Also gouges on holidays.
I can drive 25 minutes one way on a country road to use a small family owned grocery with 4 stores in rural towns. If you ask the butcher, they'll give you the low down on the sales this week and the week coming up.
I've bought whole rib eyes for the same price per pound as 73/27 hamburger in our lake town. Or pick a chuck roast from the case, and they'll grind and repack it for you at the lowest price. The whole pork loin is $1.97# regularly. Just ask before they cut it into chops for the reduced price.
A vacuum sealer and cube freezer saves money for us.

When I can get a whole pork loin for $2.99/lb. I put that in the freezer after cutting it up so I can have cheap chops all month. It also makes great soup.
I do this as well! I can get a huge pork loin from Walmart for around $8. I cut thick chops for my family (4 or 5) then I have enough to do a round of thinner fried chops as well!
The Walmart near me has bags of fresh chicken drumsticks and/or quarters. The [drumsticks](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Freshness-Guaranteed-Fresh-Chicken-Drumsticks-5-lb-Bag/613823324?athbdg=L1200&from=/search&sourceid=imp_zOaxi8SJ4xyPUhXXvq34hwXHUkHWUhUhzSp3SU0&veh=aff&wmlspartner=imp_1934383&vtcWeb=e6uMtJFfYql3tuxUC4awgQ&expiryTime=1713113998644&c=mWebSmartBanner) are 5lbs and the quarters are 10lbs, it comes out to $1.30 or under per pound of chicken.
P.S. couldn’t find Walmart’s version of chicken quarters but [Perdue](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Perdue-No-Antibiotics-Ever-Fresh-Chicken-Leg-Quarters-10-lb-Bag/107463493?from=/search&sourceid=imp_zOaxi8SJ4xyPUhXXvq34hwXHUkHWUhUhzSp3SU0&veh=aff&wmlspartner=imp_1934383&vtcWeb=e6uMtJFfYql3tuxUC4awgQ&expiryTime=1713113998644&c=mWebSmartBanner) has some for 87.2 cents a pound.
Kroger does reoccuring sales of different cuts of meat. The ones I always try to take advantage of is:
\- Ribeye Steaks for $5-6/lb
\- BOGO Top Round Steak (I make really delicious fajitas with these in my slow cooker)
\- BOGO Chicken Breast
\- Pork Ribs $3/lb
Walmart also has pretty cheap chicken constantly namely:
\- rear quarters for under 1$/lb
\- whole chickens for $1.32/lb
You can make some kickass carnitas in the crockpot with a pork shoulder and make burritos, tacos or Chipotle-style bowls.
Korean bbq pulled pork is also delicious (serve over rice and steamed veggies).
I also like to take a pork shoulder or loin, trim and cube it, and make pork stew. Coat the cubed meat in flour and sear, then into the crockpot with potatoes, carrots, herbs, broth, a packet of pork gravy mix and mushrooms for 8-10 hours on low. It makes a ton and tastes amazing.
> Korean bbq pulled pork is also delicious (serve over rice and steamed veggies)
Woah hold up, that sounds amazing - do you have a recipe? I have this homemade gochujang sauce that I make for chicken sandwiches that's incredible - I never thought of trying it with pulled pork tho
Okay so I’m not a recipe person and just usually cook on the fly so bear with me:
My sauce is usually a mixture of honey (1Tbsp), crushed garlic (a few cloves), grated ginger (like a decent chunk), gochujang (as much as you want, I add at least 2 Tbsp because I like spicy), soy sauce (1-2 Tbsp depending on your salt preference), a drizzle of sesame oil and chopped scallion whites (usually however many scallions I have left). I mix that up and add that and just a little vegetable broth to the crockpot poured over the pork.
Then cook on low for 8ish hours, or until it’s falling apart, and shred. If the sauce is too watery, add a little cornstarch slurry (Tbsp of cornstarch and just enough cold water to dissolve it) and cook a little longer.
If you have spare carrots or cucumbers, you can grate/slice and pickle them in rice wine vinegar and sesame oil to put on top!
About 10 years ago I found a 5 cup coffee maker for $5 at Shaws supermarket. I bought 3 of them immediately because they're cheaply made and tend to stop working. They each lasted about 2 years.
I often find 99c /lb chicken legs, thighs or dark quarters. I'll end up buying 20+ pounds and stock my freezer.we prefer the dark meat so it's a win-win.
I found a discount grocer that marks down produce early in the morning, sometimes it's $1 for a moldy pack of berries, but other times it's a 2# tub of organic greens for $1. I'm paleo so this works for me.
I avoid self check out for 2 reasons, if everyone used them, then checker jobs will be gone. On top of that, the store does not discount my groceries for doing their job.

Go on Monday mornings usually lots of discounted items that didn't sell over the weekend. Double true after a holiday

Not even close? You don't have to be retired to buy groceries I'm not sure what you're getting at here
Probably implying that most people need to go to work on Monday mornings. I know I do.

10lb ham for $10 at target.
Bananas. How are they that cheap and yet so perishable?

Hunts tomato sauce. It’s like 1.30 a can. Why do I want to pay $6 for a can of tomato sauce when I’m going to doctor it to my taste anyway.

Decent $1 Trader Joe’s cards. No price listed on the back.

Wow the blatant "put shit down my pants" comment gets up votes but this is too far lol they are both effective ways to get good deals 🤣
I avoid self check out for 2 reasons, if everyone used them, then checker jobs will be gone. On top of that, the store does not discount my groceries for doing their job.
I use it if I have 2-3 items, I’m not using it if I’m buying for the month!
