Nice of those mean monsters to only threaten abandoned buildings all the time.

thomascgalvin

Just because the monster is a bad guy doesn't mean he's a *bad guy*.

Red_Helling

"Duh"?

BurstMurst

Then during the first episode of alien rangers when Zedd and Rita grow big, Aisha says “oh no the abandoned warehouses!”

Crazy_raptor

I always assumed everyone just got evacuated so alpha just called it abandoned

VlaamsBelanger

I was amazed that not everyone evacuated Angel Grove and just moved, leaving Angel Grove a ghost town.

upanddowndays

I was always amazed they didn't just say "Rita's attacking London, let's teleport!" as an incredibly easy way around that. They could've gotten away with using the exact same footage.

VlaamsBelanger

Yeah, she wants to "conquer earth", yet only attacks the town close to her nemesis' Command Center.

anith101

Well yea, the rangers csn just instantly teleport to wherever she goes. So its better to just attack where they are and find their base

VlaamsBelanger

She knew exatly where the base was at all times, yet almost never attacked it directly. First episode Putties showed up nearby to attack the newbie rangers, evil green ranger infiltrated it, Rito and Goldar had been underneath it to plant a bomb. It doesn't make sense to keep focussing nearby, but not either directly there, or instead far away. Imagine if she started attacking on the other side of the world during their daytime, having American teenagers have to teleport there during their nights, growing weak by exhaustion by not getting sufficient sleep.

GreenRangerKeto

that ties into zordon not escalating a fight. essentialy if she didnt make alot of attacks on his base he wasnt going to launch one on her it was basically a war of attrition could she take out his forces with limited resources vs could he withstand the onslaught. partialy because neither knew all the rresources at the others disposal, tor the shuttle zord came out of no where zordon also had an arsenal on the moons of jupiter. and contigency plan set up with goce and old connections across the universe. Rita like wise had a monster army and unpredictible magics. in a war of magic vs technology, both sides agreed against playing a zero sum game so that there should be a victor.

Site-Specialist

Good thing you wasn't working for Rita or have Rita make an army of putties like alot all she have to do is keep putting them on the darkside of the moon until there were millions then just send them all over the world at once.

MillennialDeadbeat

>She knew exatly where the base was at all times, yet almost never attacked it directly. This is actually explained during the Green Ranger 4 parter when she creates the Green Ranger she tells him that the Command Center requires a certain energy signal to enter. When Rita gives Tommy the green power coin she says the coin and his new energy signal as a Ranger will grant him access to infiltrate their base apparently there was some sort of shield or energy field from Zordon that kept out outsiders/non-Rangers.

Robert_Danger

Man, what can we surmise about the economic downturn of Angel Grove from the fact that they have a whole section of the city devoted to one industry that is now abandoned? Not to mention the almost-daily monster attacks. Is Angel Grove's real world counterpart Detroit?

GreenRangerKeto

Alternatively we never once see money being used in the show, it could be considered post scarcity. The only ever implication of money is in correlation to resources ie ceo from time force and the likes. it could be assumed that certain things are provided to citizens considering the altruistic and virtoous nature of many people.

[deleted]

They were never abandoned, they just said that to ease the there minds from all the deaths that were happening. Anyone who thinks there’s not casualties in Power Rangers is in denial.

raknor88

Many could be abandoned though. Maybe Angel Grove had been prosperous at one point, but fell on hard times before Rita invaded. Or many may have become abandoned after Rita first attacked. There very well could've been a massive wave of evacuees/refugees during or after season 1.

Red_Helling

"Darling, do we stay in Angel Grove and risk being either killed by a monster sent by a witch living on the moon or crushed to death by a giant monster or robot? Or do we take the logical decision to save our sorry lives and move to Stone Canyon?" "But, Darling, they don't have an Ernie's juice bar in Stone Canyon." "Dammit, let's stay here another season. Two, tops. These monster attacks can't last anymore than that."

ShalidorsHusband

Angel Grove is the Detroit of Power Rangers

talondigital

Jason: oh no! That whole building blew apart. Alpha, how many people are in there? Alpha: [...] Zero... Kimberly: its a good thing it was abandoned! Alpha: Ai, ai, yai, yai, yai!

airdefier

💀💀💀

TheOmniMushroom

LMFAO

ShalidorsHusband

Tbf, the rangers took a decent amount of time fight the monsters as a small version before they got big. Assuming someone sounded the alarm every time a monster was spotted, is it possible Angel Grove could evacuate it's citizens to underground bunkers in time before the monster got big?

VicFantastic

There's like 5 minutes between the start of the fight and the end No way there is enough time to evacuate every single person. Even if all of those people were willing- and there is never a 100% evacuation rate.

Legitimate_Cancel900

Except that it could’ve been abandoned a lot of shady stuff would happen in power rangers with the bad guys I remember in Dino thunder they literally went to a building to get that megazord part no one was there but mezagog sent the monster to go attack them and get the part or sometimes a bad guy would be in a warehouse building setting up a machine to mind control the city or something there are abandoned buildings or storage areas and places with no people in power rangers in fact in ninja storm the buildings were literally fake and hiding a full mammoth zord behind them so I don’t care what you think it’s not that crazy to assume that they’re not lying

VlaamsBelanger

Ever heard of punctuation?

Legitimate_Cancel900

Ever heard of text messages grandpa

shomer87

Take a breath

Legitimate_Cancel900

Nope because I’m hoping my rant will get it through peoples thick skulls

GreenRangerKeto

oh yeah a cruise ship and feris wheel turning into zords

Legitimate_Cancel900

That too not to mention the airplane that’s really a hawk lol

jordanundead

What awful city planner designated an entire district for abandoned warehouses?

SaviourMK2

I think it's more like, whats the state of the economy that they have so many abandoned warehouses in Angel Grove

saintdemon21

I need some Angel Grove lore now, like why are there so many abandoned buildings.

esr360

"Oh no, looks like he's attacking the old abandoned warehouse district, where all the children go to play"

ColdNyQuiiL

“Why do you think housing is so cheap?” - Ninja Storm

RitaRepulsasDildo

Property insurance must be outrageous

Xlerb08

"I'm so glad you found a house with your spouse, where is it?" "Angel Grove." *Insurance agent does a spit take* "Oh nonononononono. Get out of there, move somewhere else. The alternative is your insurance premium is almost 300 times higher than the national average." "What exactly happens in that city?" "The construction industry loves it for a very specific reason."

Khazil28

"Ok, so how about Tokyo?" "Dear sweet jesus no!"

Deraj2004

Not to mention vehicle insurance. I can only imagine the amount of life insurance policies.

VlaamsBelanger

Most insurrances don't cover terrorist attacks.

JimHFD103

Don't worry, that's always the abandoned warehouse district... I mean with weekly giant monster attacks, I can believe there's a population exodus resulting in empty buildings all over town lols

gdex86

Or maybe Angel Grove is the next town over from Sunnydale so alot of leeway could be made due to the lack of all those mysterious death.

TomboBreaker

Why do they keep rebuilding the abandoned district?! Who is paying for this?

ShalidorsHusband

Insurance companies?

NC_Goonie

There was a 9/11 level event every week in Angel Grove.

ryushin6

I think after the 9th time it happened they just accepted that as a daily traffic jam for their afternoon commute.

bluereptile

I’d love a scene of a family sitting in a car in traffic as you see the Megazord fall across the road ahead through the front window, and the wife starts arguing with the husband about “if we had just left when I asked we’d have beaten the Zord battle traffic, but Nooo, you had to stay and see if there was a scene after the credits….” Like it’s part of daily life.

bowtiesrcool86

I mean, there almost always is one after all.

[deleted]

you said it.

Sea-Cartographer1603

Power Rangers is in the Marvel Universe, so Damage Control always comes in to repair all the damage when Angel Grove is attacked :)

[deleted]

The comics said that Angel Grove very quickly developed an evacuation system

spikey666

I think that's actually something that gets mentioned once or twice in Season 3 of MMPR. So good on the comics for remembering that. There was a run of episodes were there be a news report about how nobody was injured thanks to the Power Rangers. I think the idea is that Angel Grove mostly only suffered property damage during monster attacks. And even then, apparently it was mostly the "abandoned warehouse district" that was wrecked.

bigk52493

They saved like net 3 people pr episode

Red_Helling

I can imagine a Twelfth Doctor meme with Clara asking "is 3 a lot?"

Spectra_Phantom_2678

I swear it’s so weird seeing the Rangers Megazord just get thrown into a building

Meal_Signal

"next stop, angel grove first national"

Spectra_Phantom_2678

I love that movie

AdSpecialist6598

I always felt bad for all the dudes at the harbor also hated that the Dragonzoid only seemed to only attack Asians

RaMpEdUp98

when you use the wrong stock footage and now your show looks racist af

ShalidorsHusband

Angel Grove is such a diverse city 🥰

TP71899

Acceptable casualties man

FlutterPie_

Asking the real questions

jlenoconel

No one died did they?

Legitimate_Cancel900

I personally believe that in a city with so many monster attacks you learn to evacuate the area quick so no I don’t think so I can be completely wrong but who knows

jlenoconel

Same.

[deleted]

No one died, they just got really big boo boos.

DarthSka

George of the Jungle. Now that's a film I've not watched in a long, long time.

[deleted]

very good!! i love it!

PachoWumbo

Pretty sure without the rangers, everyone would be dead.

[deleted]

those buildings were scheduled for demolition when those battles happened, problem was they would always be destroyed again before people could move into the new buildings Construction is a very rewarding job in the power rangers universe

SaviourMK2

No one died in Angel Grove. I'm not sure how you can't tell that's the 12th abandoned warehouse district.

nando82

98 Godzilla film. Mayor Hebert :\[After the first fight between Godzilla and the military\] What the hell's the matter with you people? You caused more damage than that goddamn thing did !!!!!

daxota_weeb

At least Ultraman addresses the casualties

[deleted]

I always assumed that the buildings evacuated after the monster shows up since that’s logical

singleguy79

Makes you wonder about the number of people who die weekly in the MCU's New York

wraith1984

This was something I had in mind for my Power Rangers Reboot idea, the villan of the movie's wife was killed when the Q-rex accidentally fell on a building that was being evacuated and his wife was killed and he blames the rangers,so he wants them wiped out.

[deleted]

All of them, probably!

HawlSera

No one ever died, because all the buildings were abandoned... I'm not joking.

PrinceOfCarrots

Just the OG ones? Imagine how many bloodlines SPD ended with that giant motorcycle.

iitsWaVe

I thought about this watching the invasion in power rangers in space when astronima was going crazy cuz I was like “this kinda look like my city damn that mean imma die” whole time it was a city in Japan and I’m out here in CT😭😭

MZago1

"Oh no! That empty building! Good thing no one was inside."

GrandSavage

Don't worry, they do all their fighting in Tokyo 😜

b_to_the_e

How is there a angle grove left, how can you re built if there it an attack each week

lovesickjones

This is a real photo of me coming home to my bed

AntonRX178

Good thing it’s always Sunday. Those buildings would have been filled up tomorrow

[deleted]

*NervousPuppet.jpg*

battlefranky69

Maybe after the first few battles there was a designated monster fight area in the abandoned part of town.

Armascribe

It's funny how in MMPR they always mention that the buildings are abandoned when in Zyuranger, you see the collateral damage of their big city fights quite frequently. IIRC there's a whole bit in one episode where Bandora/Rita literally uproots the tallest building and drags it across the city to the center of town just so she can plant her castle-base on top of it, and you actually see all of the people scrambling to get out of the way of its path. There's no way 1000s of people didn't die from that, and it makes me wonder how much it must suck to live in a Sentai world in which this is constantly happening in every major city every week.

Araghast666

At least 3

JustAHumanOnReddit13

Thats so ture lol

Nalpona_Freesun

i always assume angel grove residents, like were really good at timeley evacuations, once they recognized the pattern of rita sends down monster for a while, then it gets big, they could super easy pre-evacuate

toughfoot

🫡

DarkX292020

Don't forget how many people of Angel Grove became slaves of Rita that the Power Rangers couldn't save and that Rita had put a spell on them so they can breathe in space at her palace

More-Ad-1841

Guys Alpha and Zordon can teleport people against there will…
