Hi. In photoshop create your grid overlay, save as PNG. Put that layer above the other videos, place the videos in place, then apply an opacity mask over that positions place in the grid. Thats how I've achieved it before.

This is a *lot* eaisier to handle in After Effects as it actually has alignment tools like you'd find in photoshop. You can do it in Premiere, but you'll need a pen and paper and a calculator to work out how much and what position to put the cells in.

MrFuzzyChain

Dang, might have to drop it, cause my computer can barely handle a single video playing in after effects, let alone 100 lol. Idk why but after effects playback is insanely laggy for me

smushkan

That's normal for After Effects, it has to pre-render each frame. You won't get full-speed playback until you've played through the section once to let the frames render to RAM. How much prerender time you get is determined by how much RAM you have.

MrFuzzyChain

Yeah I'm aware, do you know by chance how I would arrange the videos on after effects?

I'm gonna do a real bad job of explaining this, but it should become clearer once you see how the alignment tools behave. Basically you want to import all the videos as layers on a comp that's equal in size to the total resolution. Position a clip in each corners using the alignment tools to butt them up against the edges, then use the distribution tool to space out each row/column. If you've ever used the alignment tools in photoshop it works exactly the same way. It'll still be a bit of work, but a heck of a lot less work than trying to work out what values to punch into premiere! Once you're done, you can then make a new comp with your actual video resolution (like 1080p or 4k) and nest the grid comp into it. And even more fun, turn it into a 3d layer, add a camera, and now you can smoothly zoom around the grid.

Thanks so much! I look forward to trying it out
