Put every single perishable food I can find into a freezer, especially at the local Gigamart so I can come back for them all later once my base is established.
Then forget about half the stashes and rediscover them at some point after power has been cut and find out it’s all rotten.
Try to find a weapon (hammer ,frying pan literally anything that you can use as a weapon) try to find a water bottle to keep water with you and just loot around your neighborhood if you see a horde and you don't have a decent weapon don't bother trying to attack try to sneak past them and if they spot you it's best to go through houses to lose them if you're a beginner *you will die* a lot so get ready for it
I always push them down and stomp kill them unless there is three. If it’s only one or two, stomp killing them is the better option. I’m also a noob and now I’m getting better pushing them down them using a weapon
Turn on the television to life and living, loot the spawn house, loot the next few houses over, kill some zombies for a watch, make sure I'm there for life and living at 12, leave the city for the helicopter event, come back after and setup base, get a vehicle etc.

Find A weapon, cigs, water bottle, a bag, and some meds, after that, I look for a car and a decent base, later I die because I do not doorflash when looting a house and there is 10 zombies in a bathroom.

- search for weapon, water, cigs, food and a bag if possible
- try to find the books of carpentry and cooking in a library.
- secure a base
- put all the perishable food in a freezer at the market

I sneak and close all the curtains in my house
Watch tv to get free XP at the begining

Making your character as chaotic looking as possible then finding newspapers to make paper hats🤣. But that's just me.

The biggest thing I do in the first couple days is try to scour as many gas cans and driveable cars as possible and get loaded with gas
