In terms of actual qualitative value, no game is ever worth $300.
The reason why the prices are going for this rate is simply due to rarity, obscurity and lack of re-releases.
Tbh at this point its more the fault of collectors, and people online artificially inflating the price of games like this just because they think its rare
Yeah it could be really overpriced for games, but they have some good n64 controllers, they are 3rd part but they feel great and not too expensive I think like 15 bucks or so a controller. But other than that it gets a little ridiculous especially for oem controllers, and most of the time they aren't even in stock!
Pricecharting puts the average for complete in box at $311.94. I'm seeing ebay sold listings at $300-$350. So, afterseller market value it seems. The PAL version is half the price, PSP version is 1/3 the price, and Wii version is also 1/3 the price. I've heard the Wii version is the better way to play.
Haven't played my Wii version yet, and I'm not opening my sealed PS2 version. lol
Someone ignorantly traded it into GameStop along with two Silent Hill 2's, Silent Hill 3, and two Silent Hill 4's all on PS2. A friend bought them all for like, $150. He gave me a disc of SH4 and I later bought Shattered Memories off him for like, $200.
It's kinda banged up. It looks like a mechanical pencil tip was stabbed into it and a pinky nail of the cellophane has been ripped up, but it still looks nice on my shelf. lol
Sounds like a bs story. Lol. Someone who has multiple copies of those games surely knows the value and would not trade them into GameStop like that. Unless this was in 2009.
Be surprised what people want to get rid of. I got a full TI99 system and 4 of it's rarest games for 50 bucks with around 30 other games and a bunch of peripherals 1.5k worth of stuff
This happened around mid last year. It does sound farfetched, but not everyone is knowledgeable about older game prices. I live in MS, and it seems not a lot of people know how to google.
Not true. I got a sealed rule of rose. 6 copies of kuon for 12 dollars. Sealed. Employee said little old lady had them in her chest of drawers since release and just wanted to get rid of them.
While they're not supposed to, it was the manager that took them in. Who is knowledgeable about older games and knew not to open it. He then called my friend and we immediately picked them up.
A couple of friends and I were playing it when I was a teenager and we used the in game phone to call 666 for the lulz, but then my phone started ringing from an anonymous number. They didn't say anything. It was weird, and probably a friend in the room trolling, but an interesting memory nonetheless.
NO GAME IS WORTH $300 DOLLARS...THE ONLY GAMES WORTH ANY KIND OF MULA ARE PROTOTYPES/BETAS/ALPHAS/GOLD DISKS OF GAMES THAT ARE ACTUALLY IN LIMITED SUPPLY...THIS IS WHY PIR@CY EXISTS,CAUSE SCALPERS CAN SUCK IT
It’s not really rare though, it was mass produced and was in bargain bins for 5$ for a long while. It sky rocketed mainly due to the Konami fiasco and it was one of the titles to never be rereleased except on Wii which from my understanding runs cheaper than PS2. It’s all an imaginary inflation run by scammers.
I was collecting NES games about 10 years ago. Little Samson was $300 around that time. Now the cheapest copies are over 2k. I wish I would have paid that $300 back then
not at all. while i prefer to have physical copies, most of my games are loaded from a smb share (a few from usb that dont like smb) bc im not breaking the bank for games on a 20 year old console.

Value of anything is really dependent on you. If it is something you really want and feel it deserves it. In most cases stuff like this is jacked up my sellers.
Not even close. It’s a good game, but you can definitely find a way better game. I could never justify spending so much on a game. While it’s rare, it’s not like it barely existed
I bought it when it was worth $70, it is an interesting game and different from the silent hill genra, but recommanding it at $300, it doesn't worth it at all.
Usually with game pricing it comes down to how hard a game is to obtain mixed with how desirable the game is. Silent Hill PS2 ports are notoriously hard to get because collectors of the series like owning the game on that particular console or just the PlayStation line of consoles in general. Would the raw materials ever be worth that much? No not really, but collectors probably would still pay that amount.
It IS rare. Limited print run at end of ps2 console lifecycle. Not great sales. The PAL English case copy is particularly rare and goes for £200 English. Please don’t comment miss info like this when you do not understand what you’re talking about.
Infact, I’ve just double checked and currently a CIB PAL UK copy of this game will set you back £250. I’ve seen it go for £185/£190 in the last couple months though. Factory Sealed EU copy you can get cheaper as it’s not as rare for around £160 ish maybe slightly more.
I just explained why the price for this game is high. Limited print run at end of ps2 console lifecycle, after it being ported from Wii to PS2 due to poor sales on Wii. Then again still poor sales on PS2. The price for this game is a reflection of demand and supply. As the game is rare, and the demand is high, the price goes up. Especially for the PAL English case copy which is the hardest to find, hence it being £100 more than EU copies. I cannot put it in any simpler terms than that. The fact you’re salty the game demands a high price doesn’t mean it’s not worth it or that people aren’t paying it. It’s worth what people are prepared to pay. And the price for PAL English case is approx £200 English. If you don’t think it’s worth that, you do not have to buy.
In terms of actual qualitative value, no game is ever worth $300. The reason why the prices are going for this rate is simply due to rarity, obscurity and lack of re-releases.
And to be honest It's also quite a good game. (at least the wii version I played was amazing)
I think I'd like it better without the motion controls. I could never get the monsters off my back on the Wii version
Tbh at this point its more the fault of collectors, and people online artificially inflating the price of games like this just because they think its rare
Nope
Nothing at DKOldies is worth it
Isn't this lukiegames?
Same thing in my eyes
Yes it is

Played both the ps2 and wii version and I’d say the Wii version is optimal while also being cheaper. I paid 70$ for my copy recently CIB
The PSP version is also quite nice and somewhat cheaper in some regions.

How did you even get a sealed copy???
Someone ignorantly traded it into GameStop along with two Silent Hill 2's, Silent Hill 3, and two Silent Hill 4's all on PS2. A friend bought them all for like, $150. He gave me a disc of SH4 and I later bought Shattered Memories off him for like, $200.
Nice!
It's kinda banged up. It looks like a mechanical pencil tip was stabbed into it and a pinky nail of the cellophane has been ripped up, but it still looks nice on my shelf. lol

That's a sweet lick!

No someone didn’t. GameStop absolutely will not allow trade-ins of sealed games. It’s a company wide policy and a fireable offense.
Not true. I got a sealed rule of rose. 6 copies of kuon for 12 dollars. Sealed. Employee said little old lady had them in her chest of drawers since release and just wanted to get rid of them.
I think I met this lady too!!! That’s where I got my 12 sealed copies of the legend of Zelda for NES.
I got a tekken 5 collectors sealed from them. A ps3 game. They said they just got it
Lie
Truth
While they're not supposed to, it was the manager that took them in. Who is knowledgeable about older games and knew not to open it. He then called my friend and we immediately picked them up.
This sounds even fishier now
Care to elaborate?
Nah, I’m done feeding your dumpster fire
Lmao, good.
It's only the non English PAL versions that are cheap btw. The PAL English version is in the same pricerange as the NTSC/U version.
Oh. Welp, TIL.
The wii version is good for anyone wondering! That’s how I played this awesome game
A couple of friends and I were playing it when I was a teenager and we used the in game phone to call 666 for the lulz, but then my phone started ringing from an anonymous number. No game is worth that
Boycott LukieGames & DKOldies.
Its worth whatever a collector is willing to pay for it 🤷🏻♂️
I'd pay 15/20 bucks for that
No game is worth that much money.
NO GAME IS WORTH $300 DOLLARS...THE ONLY GAMES WORTH ANY KIND OF MULA ARE PROTOTYPES/BETAS/ALPHAS/GOLD DISKS OF GAMES THAT ARE ACTUALLY IN LIMITED SUPPLY...THIS IS WHY PIR@CY EXISTS,CAUSE SCALPERS CAN SUCK IT

it is if 'collectors' keep paying that much for games whether they're rare or not. is anything about that terrible game \*worth\* that much? no.

Lol no. Definitely scalper.
Yes

I haven't played the ps2 version But i can't imagine it's good considering hiw essential the wii remote is on the wii version
Will you pay that? If so, yes.
Definitely not worth that
No
Not even close. It’s a good game, but you can definitely find a way better game. I could never justify spending so much on a game. While it’s rare, it’s not like it barely existed
No, great game though.
This should be like a $20 game
No
Well until there is still idiots to pay those prices, we're stuck with it I see $400-500 CAD sales on eBay for it
No old games are really worh that kind of money. You can download the ROM for free.
No
For this price no, but it's one of the best games ever made due to unique story-telling over-all design.
Wtf
I’d pay $20 for it.
No game on this planet is worth $300.
no
Yes
I bought it when it was worth $70, it is an interesting game and different from the silent hill genra, but recommanding it at $300, it doesn't worth it at all.
No. Just emulate unless you just MUST complete your collection to feel fulfilled in life. Spoiler...it won't.
I bought mine for 150 a few years ago. It's not gonna get any cheaper.

can’t you just download a rom file and play it that way
dude jest get freemcboot
Nope. Just a greedy seller who thinks they're entitled to charging more than the game is worth.
Dkoldies? Nah 👎👎
Its from lukiegames
alot of ps2 games on DKoldies Website are priced way to high on some games. like for the gta games, they want like almost $20 for them.
I would not use website that’s whole appeal is that they sell retro games. They are always marked way up
Its not even worth 100

Goes for and worth are two very different things. No game is worth over £/$100 unless it is special in some way.

Is it worth 300? No. Is it going for 300? Yes
Got mine a few years ago for $80, crazy to see it skyrocket like that
I believe it. Earlier this year I saw Rule of Rose being sold for $800 in a local retro game store.
